And if the Rays wrap things up tonight, that's six days before the World Series starts. Bet Bud and his boys are proud of that new scheduling.

Chanman25 - October 16, 2008
To tell you how interested I am in this game
I am watching Nets-Celtics preseason basketball then Next Friday. I may flip over to this game if its close or the Rays are winning late.
nji232 - October 16, 2008
Bosox could sure use Manny's clutch postseason bat right about now
calicubfan - October 16, 2008
or 5 of his..
Chanman25 - October 16, 2008
Red Sox made huge strategic blunder in letting Manny go
Manny might have been a pain in the ass and a real problem child, but my goodness he remains one of the greatest and most dynamic run producers in the history of baseball. On a team built to win NOW and with Manny’s contract expiring at the end of the year anyway how on earth do you trade him to the Dodgers. I guess the Red Sox were content with two World Series Championships. Seems to me Theo Epstein’s ego got the better of his judgment.
MDBNIU - October 16, 2008
Manny wore out his welcome..
..plain and simple. He threw Boston’s travelling seceratary to the floor, he got into an altercation with Youkliss, he faked an injury, and he stopped hustling. Manny Ramirez is a great hitter, but he’s a TOTAL piece of shi*

Manny has been wanting to get out of Boston for years
Every trade deadline for the past 3 or 4 years, there was always a report of manny wanting to leave. He got tired of the Sox not doing anything and he gave up on them. It was both Manny and the Red Sox organization’s fault.
aznsensation - October 16, 2008
What do you mean...
..by “the Red Sox not doing anything”?
calicubfan - October 16, 2008
they refused to trade him year after year when manny told them he wanted to go elsewhere
I don’t think the Sox were ever serious of trading him until he finally gave up on them.
aznsensation - October 16, 2008
Ok, I got it.
My problem with Manny is the fact that he signed a contract that paid him $160M. The contract also gave Boston two options worth $20M each. Manny is a money hungry bitch who obviously cares a lot more about money than winning. His behavior was borderline CRIMINAL!
calicubfan - October 16, 2008
My problem with Manny
is that he disrespects the game. When you stop playing the game to “prove a point” you are, in my book, lower than low.
Emelie - October 17, 2008
Manny is Dick Allen With Dreadlocks
CaliCub - October 17, 2008
Well at least...
Scott Eyre and Cliff Floyd will be playing in the World Series. Congratulations!
ronsanto10 - October 16, 2008
Well...
Eyre will, at least.
Al Yellon - October 17, 2008
im so excited
My DVR is finally almost empty :)
KyCubsFan - October 16, 2008
Tropicana Field...
…will be the largest gathering of bandwagon fans since last years’ NLDS in Phoenix.
calicubfan - October 16, 2008
The gods cannot save you, McNulty.
dtpollitt - October 16, 2008
TIE GAME!
calicubfan - October 16, 2008
Red Sox are so incredibly lucky
and they must have ice in their veins if they can come back from a 0-7 deficit…so good for them
aznsensation - October 16, 2008
Looks like they DO have ice in their veins
cubsnlinux - October 16, 2008
what a game
red sox will be in the world series. wow
cubsluver22 - October 16, 2008
ugh....they won today, but they won't win two straight at Tampa
I think this series will be over in two days
aznsensation - October 16, 2008
What an AMAZING game!!
This is why I love baseball! No clock — It ain’t over till it’s over!! (Although I thought it was over..see my post above) I LOVE IT!!
calicubfan - October 16, 2008
Kudos to the Red Sox...
That was some comeback.
I can’t imagine what that does to the Rays. That could be very damaging even though they are only 1 win away.
The Rays need to completely disregard the Red Sox history of comebacks in the ALCS and go out and slam the door.
With such a young team it will be an interesting game to watch, next game, and see how they respond.
Even with the Cubs out, this series is enough to get me to watch October baseball again.
I’d have to say that I would like to see the Red Sox in the WS again. In a way they remind me of the Cubs.
EJThunder - October 16, 2008
I think...
The steamroller of momentum just flattened the Rays… and I say F the Red Sox…I’m sick of obnoxious NE/Bos fans…
Nothing cute about the R Sox and their obnoxious condescending fans anymore…
kcjones - October 16, 2008
Un by god believable
If only our Cubbies could do this.
CubbieintheSouth - October 16, 2008
Get some Obnoxious A$$ hole players...
Drew….may well be scum (and DLEE in real life is really upstanding..) but dammit…he knows how to step up and do what it takes to win baseball games.
kcjones - October 16, 2008
Wow
Biggest comeback since 1929…when the Philly Athletics were behind by 8, and scored 10 runs to beat the Cubs…geez
StevenABQ - October 16, 2008
amazing
the red sox just don’t know the meaning of quit… someday thats going to be us.
Cubbinstrongsince86 - October 16, 2008
Unbelievable...
…down by 7 that late and coming back from the dead.
We’ll soon see what kind of backbone the young Rays have after this one, but the pressure is clearly going to be squarely on them in game 6.
Will they crumble like a cookie if Boston smells blood, or will they be able to perform like they did to take a 3-1 lead?
I thought Maddon made a couple critical mistakes tonight, and it cost them.
MPH73 - October 17, 2008
This win proves that Boston is a relentless juggernaut of a team
They have been down 3-0 and 3-1 before and came back in 04 and 07, respectively. They have the Rays where they want em. I turned off the game in the 8th thinking phsss this one is DONE
Chanman25 - October 17, 2008
That is absolutely incredible
Why can’t we pull off stuff like that?
Brett Taylor - October 17, 2008
We do...
Pull off stuff like that. For example:
4 runs in the 9th with 2 out against Milwaukee
Down 9-1 to Rockies, come back and win 10-9
Problem is it doesnt happen in the postseason.
AndHart120 - October 17, 2008
"Problem is it doesnt happen in the postseason."
and under REAL PRESSURE!!
cubsnlinux - October 17, 2008
bingo
Emelie - October 18, 2008
layoff
If this series goes the full 7 I predict that whoever wins it will take the series in no more than 5 games. Recent history shows us that the team that has to sit & wait for a ridicuously long time, comes out real flat, and it’s over quick. See Cards- Tigers, Rockies- Red Sox as prime examples. Baseball is meant to be played every day. When a team gets a full week off, it’s like starting spring training all over again.
KedzieKid - October 17, 2008
LOL
derv - October 17, 2008
That was a 'Bartman Game'.
And now, ironically, they ALSO have two more chances, both AT HOME.
malicedoom - October 17, 2008
After the Bartman Game...
… the Cubs had only ONE more chance.
Al Yellon - October 17, 2008
rays
the rays will win saturday with big game james shields.everyones been counting these guys out all season.sorry boston no more miracles i think.i could be wrong.i will say this if you thinki yankee and sox fans are obnoxious you need to experience tha ray fans.im right in the middle of it all.enjoy it dont flaunt it. you,d think this team did,nt finish last for 10 years.
