I just turned on the Rays feed on Gameday Audio. I think the announcer said that TBS was having tech difficulties, and the game “might” be delayed a bit.
Crazy how this same Upton was benched for lack of effort and hustle…and he’s basically making a bid for the next Mr October in his first postseason appearance
Our high school indoor batting cages have that, It’s OK, much better than Astroturf but not as soft as real grass, It’s a real bitch to clean sunflower seeds out of it though.
…but a team is up 3-1 in a LCS, lose game 5 on the road, and then their sure handed shortstop makes an error that leads to a big inning that ultimately gives the other team the lead… oh, and that other team has Josh Beckett…
that’s where they put all kinds of pads and helmets on and then brag about how hard they hit each other. If those guys had any real balls they would play rugby.
The difference between the Red Sox and the Cubs is that the Red Sox play to win and NEVER give up in the playoffs. The Cubs just seem to play “not to lose”. Once you get them down, they are toast. We need someone who can step up in the post season-ANYBODY PLEASE. For the Red Sox it was Drew on Thursday, and Varitek last night. Maybe we should bench Soriano during the playoffs-didn’t we still have a winning record when he was out of the lineup?
…once they win a pennant, it will be a huge monkey off of their back. Considering they haven’t been there since 45, this is a key stepping stone to getting this particular core group over the hump.
IMO, if they would have gotten to the world series this year, they would have played more relaxed in the series and I think the same would apply the next couple of years.
Nah.
San Diego Smooth Jazz Man - October 18, 2008
Sure they will... they're the Red Sox! :D
Emelie - October 18, 2008
I second that Nah...
and this gamethread.
ballhawk - October 18, 2008
Anyone else not have the gameon TBS?
And instead have some old blooper show?
MrNFL - October 18, 2008
Yes.
I just turned on the Rays feed on Gameday Audio. I think the announcer said that TBS was having tech difficulties, and the game “might” be delayed a bit.
DeRoMyHero - October 18, 2008
Ugh
Those games already last long enough, they don’t need any delays..
MrNFL - October 18, 2008
Addendum
TBS has “power issues” in Atlanta. They have started the game. Crisp bunt single on first pitch.
DeRoMyHero - October 18, 2008
wow this is inexcusable......and the steve harvey show to boot!?
JB 23 - October 18, 2008
Yikes
I wonder if they’re going to go ahead and start the game or wait for TBS indefinitely . . .
iusig - October 18, 2008
MLB.TV is still blacked out even though the game isn't on TV.
DeRoMyHero - October 18, 2008
Pulling for the Rays
even though watching another expansion team get to the WS would suck, watching Boston get there again would suck worse.
Canadian Cubs Fan - October 18, 2008
TBS Hot Corner
is live and free through mlb.tv.
3fingerbrown - October 18, 2008
MLB.com
Not only can we not see it on TBS pretty much every site related to MLB.com is nonresponsive or crashed due to all the pissed/confused fans.
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
So now
I can’t even get the audio stream thats included on mlb.tv subscription….aarrgggh
How do you people who don’t pay for Extra Innings or MLB.tv survive with just gameday?
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
I'm listening to the Rays radio broadcast on mlb.com
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
Upton HR
1-0 Rays. Live on TBS Hot Corner.
3fingerbrown - October 18, 2008
Good lord
Crazy how this same Upton was benched for lack of effort and hustle…and he’s basically making a bid for the next Mr October in his first postseason appearance
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
This is terrible
I guess the whole country is down…
LMAO
I hope TBS never gets to carry a playoff game after this fiasco
Could you imagine if this happened and it was the CUBS that where up 3-2 on someone in the NLCS? Oh Boy
Galvan316 - October 18, 2008
Also...
… TBS’ HD channel was not running the “technical difficulties” crawl that the regular TBS was.
Amateurish.
Al Yellon - October 18, 2008
Game is on TBS now
flachimesa - October 18, 2008
i blame
Chip for this
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
Do you think this could be grounds for MLB to rescind TBS' broadcast rights?
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
probably not
But if it was Yankees/Red Sox the entire network along with Ted Turner would be kicked out of the country.
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
LOL
Galvan316 - October 18, 2008
and then
Where would we be given our weekly dose of Tyler Perry? ANARCHY WOULD ENSUE!
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
PANIC!
Galvan316 - October 18, 2008
he could go live at the UN....
JB 23 - October 18, 2008
Ted Turner sold the company quite a few years ago.....
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
I don't understand why they didn't broadcast play by play over the phone on TBS.
I remember the Cubs doing that during a game with technical difficulties.
Wouldn’t that be better than a re-run of the Steve Harvey Show?
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
Or put the game on TNT
Galvan316 - October 18, 2008
This place looks like an umpire's nightmare.
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
And a fan's nightmare. And a player's nightmare...
DeRoMyHero - October 18, 2008
But a grounds keeper's dream
JPetey - October 18, 2008
Guess you just need a vacuum!
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
Kotsay
Is it just me or does Mark Kotsay(and Nick Swisher) always look like they just took a bong hit?
Gleebo - October 18, 2008
Has anyone noted how UGLY Maddon's glasses are?
Don’t they pay him enough to get something better?
DeRoMyHero - October 18, 2008
I'm here, what's up people?
dtpollitt - October 18, 2008
not much....thats for sure!
Shields is looking like a post season veteren right now….
JB 23 - October 18, 2008
First game I've watched at the Trop.
Is that real grass or field turf?
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
It's called "FieldTurf" and the Rays literature claims it is "natural looking"
but it isn’t.
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
Rays literature on Tropicana Field
here
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
That's what I thought it looked like
Our high school indoor batting cages have that, It’s OK, much better than Astroturf but not as soft as real grass, It’s a real bitch to clean sunflower seeds out of it though.
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
They can call it whatever they want...
…but it’s CARPET in my book. I hate it — Baseball belongs on grass!
calicubfan - October 18, 2008
Anyone else stoked for tonight’s SNL?!
dtpollitt - October 18, 2008
If Tampa Bay loses this one...it could be a giant choke job....
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
I just like seeing bad things happening to other people for a change, don't care who it is.
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
If you mean to other baseball teams...yeah, absolutely...
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
Yeah I definitely mean any team other that the Chicago National League Ball Club
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
This is like watching a re-run of the 2003 NLCS.....
cowsarecool220 - October 18, 2008
Without the feelings of utter pain and depression I had....
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
I do....
I wanted the bad things to happen to Beckett and the Sox….F Josh Beckett
kcjones - October 18, 2008
Stop me if you've heard this one before...
…but a team is up 3-1 in a LCS, lose game 5 on the road, and then their sure handed shortstop makes an error that leads to a big inning that ultimately gives the other team the lead… oh, and that other team has Josh Beckett…
I think I’ve heard this one before…
Ryan at Cubshub - October 18, 2008
The Rays were also 7 outs away from going to the world series with a 7 run lead...
and blew that game, and maybe this game too. I’ve seen that movie before also.
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
Mix a little fan interference in there and we have a MATCH!
calicubfan - October 18, 2008
I dunno where all my Badger fans are...or sue...
…but it’s a bad year to be a Badger. This is the worst team I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Dan
dtpollitt - October 18, 2008
What minor league do they play in?
Fall Instructional League?
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
I think it's a sport called college football
Badgers don’t understand (yet?) that USC will always be a better team.
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
I've heard of that
that’s where they put all kinds of pads and helmets on and then brag about how hard they hit each other. If those guys had any real balls they would play rugby.
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
Badgers, we don't need no stinkin badgers!
Weeghman Park - October 18, 2008
Lifetime?
Any of the pre-barry seasons were pretty horrible.
Madison Cub Fan - October 18, 2008
I'm not old enough
nor was I a Badger student or alum during those days.
dtpollitt - October 18, 2008
Red Sox will win game 7
The Rays are too shaken. This series belongs to Boston.
MrNFL - October 18, 2008
Yeah, we've seen this before, haven't we?
zevkalman - October 18, 2008
Could you imagine...
…being a passionate Rays fan right now? (I doubt that many exist) Hmmmm…sounds like ’84 or ’03
calicubfan - October 18, 2008
Or any of the three other times the Red Sox have done this to another team.
1986, 2004, 2007.
Prediction: Red Sox win tonight in a blowout.
Al Yellon - October 19, 2008
Maybe the Rays should sign Aaron F. Boone real quick....
LT - October 19, 2008
WOW...the Red Sox could pull off another miracle.
GO RED SOX!!
ronsanto10 - October 19, 2008
Once the Cubs win the pennant and World Series...
…then you’ll see them play as loose and resilient as the Red Sox have since 2004.
CaliCub - October 19, 2008
I tend to think...
MPH73 - October 19, 2008
The problem is winning the NLDS...
..they are the only team in the postseason that didn’t win a single game.
