SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Not a cloud in the sky this morning, so the brief weather interregnum -- which made it partly cloudy and coolish the last two days -- seems to be over. Today, it will be sunny and 74 with light winds, a perfect day to resume the spring schedule.
Notes from today:
Royals lefthander John Bale faces Jason Marquis, who is making his fourth spring start. You can hear it via the Royals radio station or MLB.TV at the MLB.com Mediacenter.
Discuss amongst yourselves.

MLB.TV
Will this video feed have Royals announcers, or generic ones from MLB.TV? Maybe it will just have a webcam pointed at the field, and we can supply our own PBP...
JohnM - March 18, 2008
Probably generic announcers.

Al Yellon - March 18, 2008
It's supposed to be on CSN...
... so does that mean we get decent announcers? Or does the game just not air as planned?

Gameday
audio has Royals announcers it sounds like. This is my first year with gameday audio, do we get to choose which broadcasters we want to listen to during the regular season?
gwood - March 18, 2008
Yes we do.
That's not the case with MLB.TV, sadly.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
CSN just ran a ticker that said "Cubs at 3pm today on CSN"
It appears to be starting now.
McCarron - March 18, 2008
Odds are pretty good
that Wood will pitch today, correct?
grogg_2434 - March 18, 2008
I think he will...
... that would make sense, since he threw on Friday and Sunday. That would then set him up to go in one of the split squad games tomorrow, which would be 3 of 4 days and 4 of 6, which is a typical load for a closer.
Al Yellon - March 18, 2008
it is so hard for me...
to watch Kerry. I very much want to see him succeed but I get the feeling I'm going to hold my breath everytime he comes into a game this year. Watching him blow that 98mph heater by people up and in has been the highlight of my spring thusfar.
grogg_2434 - March 18, 2008
I'm also worried
about his walk totals. I know he hasn't given any free passes in ST, but stats don't lie. He can be wild.

Mariotti
The guy seems to just take the unpopular view and make it his own. It's fine once in a while, but when you do that EVERY time you right or editorialize, you lose credibility, of which he has none.
I was on the Marmol for Closer campaign trail, but I'm starting to believe Woody will do great, and Marmol can get another year setting up.
Canadian Cubs Fan - March 18, 2008
Mariotti is a blathering idiot
The guy is the ultimate pessimist and hasn't written anything worthwhile or original in years. He claims to be a Cubs fan but all he does is bash them every chance he gets. How does this guy still have a job. I used to like watching Around the Horn but Mariotti is on the show too much and makes it a complete debacle.
Jettero2112 - March 18, 2008
Mariotti
...the fact that thousands of sports fans around the country watch ATH and associate Mariotti with the typical Chicago fan is a supreme embarrassment.
Goat Whisperer - March 18, 2008
Yep
It is too bad because he is always negative but the problem for me is it is hard not to read his articles. Everyone here dislikes him but most of us obviously still read.
slocs55 - March 18, 2008
I dislike
Mariotti as well. His negative approach has always annoyed me and I really started to dislike him when I watched ATH. I was always a Woody Paige fan for some reason. I think he was more entertaining. The one thing about Mariotti's articles that annoys me the most are his constant pop culture analogies/metaphors. Comparing sports to Britney Spears, etc. is idiotic and annoys that sports fan who couldn't give two _____ts about Britney or any other pop culture figure for that matter. Give me some stats to support your position, I can do without silly metaphors. (Man, that soap box caught me by surprise, sorry)
gwood - March 18, 2008
Lahey...
... I have asked this before, and I thought that was an alternative - send Lahey back to the Twins, get $25K, and then get him back from the Twins as the PTBNL and send him to AAA.
What's with clearing waivers, though?
initram - March 18, 2008
This is what everyone seems to keep missing...
to return him to the Twins requires that you put him on OUTRIGHT waivers first. There is no way you can put this guy out there after his spring, and he not get claimed. I doubt you'd even make it past the Nationals before he was picked up.
Damen Jackson - March 18, 2008
Are you sure about this?
Maybe there's a "gentleman's agreement" between GM's that this can/will be done. Teams do it all the time.
Plus, I thought returning Rule 5 picks was done WITHOUT having to clear waivers. Where did that quotebox come from?
Al Yellon - March 18, 2008
I hope you're kidding...
If you think that you can stick a minimum salary, major league ready reliever, coming off a great spring on the waiver wire, and he not get claimed. Those kind of gentlemen are long gone, I assure you.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/s/transanctionsprimer.html
"A player drafted onto a Major League roster in the Rule 5 draft must remain in the majors (on the 25-man active roster or the DL) for all of the subsequent season, or the drafting club must attempt to return him to his original club. However, since a returned Rule 5 player must first be placed on outright waivers, a third club could claim the player off waivers. But of course, that club would then also have to keep him in the majors all season, or offer him back to his original club."
Damen Jackson - March 18, 2008
It sounds
like, if Lahey's worth it, he's on the 25-man, no further questions. He better be worth it though, because I'd much rather see Hart out there. If we can just push Marquis out, then everything could fall into place perfectly.
Kegler - March 18, 2008
Well..there is a small piece of verbiage...
about trade scenarios included, so there might be a sliver of a chance. But between the league office (I can hear the Brewers crying foul from downtown Chicago), and Lahey likely worth more than anyone that Hendry was given on the trade candidate list from the Twins on that Monroe deal, Al is making ALOT of assumptions about this guy.
Damen Jackson - March 18, 2008
I think the bottom line is...
... that the part that says "the claiming club would have to keep him on their roster all year", keeps most teams from making such claims.
Al Yellon - March 18, 2008
Lahey
My understanding is that if there was a trade like this, basically before the Cubs would offer Lahey back to the Twins, they'd make the trade, giving the Cubs his rights. So instead of offering him back to the Twins, they'd basically be offering him back to themselves. The waivers thing is confusing... I've never seen players sent back to their original team go through the waiver process.
But as for Lahey, a trade of this sort requires the Twins to be willing. If the Cubs are so high on Lahey its possible that the Twins are, too and would prefer to have him back. They're a team that's rebuilding so he'd be a possible bullpen piece for he future.

Miniscule grains of salt in any insinuations on Roberts trade, given the constant media cycle, but the interesting text is "They reportedly are looking at veteran middle infielders." Does that mean that an unsatisfactory Cubs middle infielder (see, Ronny Cedeno) pushed the Orioles' considerations in another direction?

I feel bad that Mariotti is inspiring me to write my first post, but I don't understand the logic. He's basically saying what? That Wood shouldn't pitch because he might blow out his arm? Why should anyone play then? Everyone risks injury getting on the field. If he's capable, let him take care of business until he can't.
fndr5 - March 18, 2008
Agreed
If it's going to happen, it's going to happen. Also, since Wood takes a while to get warm, the closer spot is the best one for him, since you can plan around the ninth inning far easier than specific setup situations.
GhostofJacque11 - March 18, 2008
This much we know...
The Cubs are going to get a right-handed hitting option to help out in centerfield. And they have to do SOMETHING with Jason Marquis short of having him go kicking and screaming into the bullpen where he will waste a valuable spot.
How about this???? Jason Marquis, Matt Murton and a subscription to Vineline for Marlon Byrd??? Okay, we'll have to also throw in several million dollars to get Texas to maybe bite.
While it makes me sad, I am absolutely convinced that Brian Roberts is on the verge of becoming a Cub. So maybe a Roberts and Payton deal "solves" a lot of these issues. Though why on earth would Baltimore want to eat the contract of Marquis without additional enticement??
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008
"why on earth would Baltimore want to eat the contract of Marquis..."
Because Steve Trachsel might be their opening day starter? I think the Orioles need ML pitching, and more than just Sean Gallagher.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
It hurts, to be sure...
but when it comes to rebuilding, get ugly early. If you want to do it right, dump everyone who is making more than 3 million a year, get what prospects you can, and use the cash to pay over slot if needed for the next couple of drafts.
So, Traschel it is.
Damen Jackson - March 18, 2008
Trachsel...
Because Steve Trachsel might be their opening day starter?
I read that the other day, and immediately went into sympathy spasms for my Oriole friends here in VA.
Goat Whisperer - March 18, 2008
Marquis and Baltimore
Baltimore is in serious rebuilding mode. If they're going to be awful there are much cheaper options then adding Jason Marquis and his $16.5 million due to the equation. The world is awash with Steve Trachsel like options that are dramatically cheaper.
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008
Yeah
The question you asked was "why would they want to eat the contract", but I answered a different question: "why would they take Marquis". I don't think they want to eat the contract but they might want to take him if the Cubs eat enough of it.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
Baltimore doesn't want Marquis.
But, he might be valuable to another team, like the Angels, who suddenly need pitching.
Al Yellon - March 18, 2008
That is what I thought to
To shed Marquis the Cubs are going to eat some cash. How much remains to be seen.
Wisc Badger - March 18, 2008

For the innings-eater that Marquis is, he actually is quite inexpensive (relatively). I could see a Willits for Marquis deal being a good one for each side.

NightPutting - March 18, 2008
re: Isn't the game on CSN today as well?
That's a good question. My cable box says there is an MLB game on CSN at 3pm Central today -- but it's the Chicago White Sox vs. the Kansas City Royals. So I go to the White Sox Web site (ooh, that stings), and it says the Sox are playing the Padres today. Wherein lies the truth?
I had a similiar problem this past Thursday, when I was actually home to watch the game. Both the Cubs and CSN's Web sites said the game was televised, but the game didn't show up on my cable box "guide" and, indeed, it was not on. Maddening.

This is such a bad parallel that I can't even begin to believe he would go there:
Is he honestly comparing the two as being similar? Ramirez partaking in legal cockfighting in his own country compared to a married governor hiring prostitutes?
If someone tugged his ear I bet the sound of hissing air would deafen you. Kind of like a balloon that you tried to tie up and the knot slipped on it, but instead of just air the air would smell like a week old fart.
Cribbs463 - March 18, 2008
Mariotti is a drama queen
I'm with Canadia Cubs Fan on the Mariotti. It's like Mariotti picks the headline that will bring him the most attentoin rather then writing what he really thinks. I compare him to Senator Spector. Spector seems to have taken on the NFL to get popular like Mitchell. To get his name out there, not really having any personal reason to pursue. Same with Mariotti. Always throwing out his opinion not to inform but to get a reaction that will put him in the public eye.
Keystone80435 - March 18, 2008
The most bothersome
thing of many about Mariotti is that we keep talking about him. It's difficult not to, I agree, especially because his opinion is in the spotlight that is MSM. But y'know what? With very few exceptions, I don't read or put any weight into anything these MSMorons say and pretend to think (for it is obvious that Mr. Rogers and Co. do not think). Do any of us?
Frankly, I read the blogs, especially ours here, for the most honest, thoughtful opinions and insights into Cubdom. We have several great writers and pundits ourselves, and we cover just about every angle possible, no? And we have Mr. Miles to lend us a bit of MSM street cred, along with Al's own accomplishments. Screw Mariotti and his ilk. He just makes us look a whole lot better. It's only a matter of time before his type is extinct. Maybe we should view his antics as the last gasps of a dying breed, a captive of the Sun-Times, no less .
I can almost feel sorry for him. Almost, I said.

Santo
I've heard Morgan talk smack about Ronny. Something to the likes of, "look at his stats, they just aren't there".
Holy Cow - March 18, 2008
To be fair
I don't think so. I think he supports Santo. They were from the same era, which helps explain it. Morgan didn't like Ryno challenging his position as (one of) the greatest modern second basemen. He's not threatened the same way by Santo.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
Maybe.
Morgan's never come out and said he didn't vote for Santo (a la Mike Schmidt in 2005), but every year when the veteran' committee fails to elect anyone, Morgan always has some Orwellian snippet about how "the sportswriters voted for 15 years and they didn't get in, why should we let them in?" (Let's not even bother to parse the faulty logic in that one...), or how the veteran's committee "isn't going to lower [it's] standards." I have officially posted the bullshit flag on any comment from Joe Morgan concerning these matters.
gary varsho - March 18, 2008
Morgan hates Santo
Always has. To be fair, Ron Santo was not a well-liked player during his playing days. His antics and cockiness rubbed some teammates and a lot of opponents the wrong way. The "clicking of the heels" episode was symbolic of why a lot of people around the game disliked him.
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008
To be fair,
it's not "The Hall of Popularity," nor the "Hall of Good Sportsmanship;" it's the Hall of Fame, and, ostensibly, if you have the numbers, you should get in. Santo's got the numbers, and he should be in. This business about him being "not well-liked" is a total red herring and just a weak apologetic for the veteran's committee's stubborn refusal to let anyone into their precious fraternity.
gary varsho - March 18, 2008
Of course
Joe never seemed to have a problem with Pete Rose, who was even cockier and had even bigger antics (running to first base on a walk, for example). Calling him "Charlie Hustle" was not meant as a compliment.
Just goes to show that when your friends do something, it's just Pete (or whomever) being Pete. When someone you don't know does it, they need to cut it out.
It's not just Joe who thinks that way, but he's got a vote in the Hall, so it matters here.
Josh Timmers - March 18, 2008
I could be wrong
but I have a fuzzy memory of him grudgingly supporting Ronnie during a Cubs broadcast last year.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
He simply remarked
that Santo was long overdue for proper recognition, or some such obtuseness. Everything he's had to say on the matter is just so much doublespeak.
gary varsho - March 18, 2008
This all...
... is borderline ridiculous. I dislike Joe Morgan as much as the next person but we don't need to make up stuff. He's come out and publicly said that Santo belongs in the Hall. Nothing "grudgingly" or "doublespeak". He's said he supports Santo for the Hall and there's no reason to believe that he's being disingenuous.
There are plenty of things Morgan has said and done for people to dislike him. This isn't one of them.

I think we'd all prefer Fuku at 2 and Sori at 5
If those were our two options.
The Ryno and I Know - March 18, 2008
I'm indifferent about
Roberts. That's part of the reason I've been quiet all these weeks of discussion, argumentation, etc. But Payton I'm not so indifferent about. I DO NOT want Jay Payton on our team. I just don't think he's got anything to contribute that we don't already have at much less cost. And I don't want some veteran to be here pushing/pressuring Pie further to perform or else. I want Pie to be given a better opportunity than that. Let's remember, he's only 23. We should give him this season, or at very least the first 3 months (assuming the rest of the team is performing reasonably as expected).
Kegler - March 18, 2008
Jay Payton
Two things at work here...
1. Baltimore is anxious to dump Payton and his remaining 1 year, roughly $5 million salary. I think Andy McPhail will insist that the Cubs take Payton off their hands as part of any deal for Roberts.
2. The Cubs clearly need a right-handed hitting outfield option who can play in CF. Felix Pie has never hit left-handed pitching very well. Payton can serve as platoon mate and decent short-term insurance policy should Pie crash and burn.
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008
Payton wouldn't bring anything that the Cubs don't have?
Who again do the Cubs have to hit against lefties in CF?
lemon20pie - March 18, 2008
No one, as of now
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008
Unless Payton is the dealbreaker for Roberts...
I would have Fukudome play CF against LHP and put ---gasp--- DeRosa in RF.
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
Not going to happen Shecky
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008
and then who
plays second base?
I know, I know:
drewishdrewid - March 18, 2008
if Fukodome
plays anything other than RF this year I'll be shocked.
grogg_2434 - March 18, 2008
Pie
I'd rather hit Pie against lefties than get Payton in here. Seriously. Without seeing Pie's splits, I wouldn't say to just let him struggle with lefties 100% of the time, but I do believe that too often too much is made of the whole righty vs. lefty thing.
And why is moving Fukudome into CF occassionally such a far fetched idea? He's not a glass figurine out there in RF. He's a professional athlete.
Kegler - March 18, 2008
agreed, this convinces me roberts is coming
i see no other reason to put theriot leadoff and sori in the two hole. however, shouldnt this change your opinion of the roberts trade? this would mean a. we get a bonafide leadoff hitter, and b. soriano is now in a much better position to drive in runs.
kylejo - March 18, 2008
Unless you suscribe to the theory...
that moving him anywhere in the lineup besides lead off will immediately cause him to forget how to play baseball.

Gameday Audio question
So I went ahead and popped for MLB Gameday Audio this year and I tried to play it during Sunday's game but it was horribly out of sync with the TV broadcast. Like 30-45 seconds behind
Is it always like that?
jasoniniowa - March 18, 2008
Well, you can drive yourself crazy
trying to sync them up. Due to network delay, the audio feed will gradually fall behind, but then you can re-start it. Another thing to do is make sure the buffer in your media player is set to something low like 5 or 0 seconds.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
Thanks
I've got a DVR so I'll find some way to get them together.

Not a good start for Marquis
grogg_2434 - March 18, 2008
Typical second half start...
for him...it is the second half of ST isn't it?
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
Yeah...
Hopefully he won't be around for the second half of the regular season... or the first half.
grogg_2434 - March 18, 2008
Marquis
He's either ticketed for the DL with phantom injury or the bullpen. Unless of course Hendry can find a sucker to take him off our hands. Regardless, I could care less how he pitches in this game. It's the other guys I care about.
MDBNIU - March 18, 2008

lilkimmer77 - March 18, 2008
I'm not a fan of

Kegler - March 18, 2008
a-freakin men.
Replace him!
drewishdrewid - March 18, 2008
I'd like to think...
that I'm pretty consistent. Even if he went out and threw 7 shutout innings today, I wouldn't want him on this team. His track record speaks for itself.
grogg_2434 - March 18, 2008
agreed
kylejo - March 18, 2008
Will you be happy...
if Lou "under-reacts" and Marquis is 1-5 after the first month of the season? Don't get me wrong, I think Marquis has value, but he hasn't shown the ability to ever put together several strong performances in a row. It's like flipping a coin with him.
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
Honestly,
I don't think I'd give him 50/50 changes. At this point, I expect him to suck, and surprised when he doesn't. Combine that with his craptastic attitude...

santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
to be more accurate
I think it's we want Roberts over Fontenot, Cintron, Fuld, or whoever the current 25th man on the roster is. It's a trickle-down effect that would make this club a lot stronger.
ballhawk - March 18, 2008

bluebythebook - March 18, 2008
hmm
does anyone else find it weird that the IOWA cubs are in the PACIFIC COAST league?
GarlicFryCubFan - March 18, 2008
Not really
Keeping in mind so are Omaha, Nashville, and Memphis just to name a few others. They've been in the PCL since the mid to late '90s when the American Association folded.
BrownE34 - March 18, 2008
I was discussing the same thing yesterday. New Orleans is in the pacific league too. Not very creative with the league names.
Keystone80435 - March 18, 2008
There's a lot of history to the Pacific Coast League.
The name is mostly a remnant of the old days of the PCL, which was an Indie league out west, appropriately enough.
For a time, the NL and the AL opposed creating expansion teams out West, and so there was talk of the PCL becoming the third major league and joining MLB. It was mostly a ploy by those who favored expansion, but there it is.
cwyers - March 18, 2008
good info. thanks
Keystone80435 - March 18, 2008
Well
the PCL hadn't been an independent league since the early 1930s, although there were some independent teams playing along side the farm clubs later than that. It's simply a minor league that pre-dated the creation of farm systems.
There is a lot of history to the PCL, but when the American Association and the PCL merged in 1998, it wasn't a merger of equals. It was more of a takeover of the AA by the PCL, and the PCL wasn't about to give up their name and the history that went with it.
The good news is that the Iowa Cubs now come out to the West Coast every other year.

Well, unless the Cubs are the Bears
Well Cubs are Bears....anyways.
If ST ended today, Marquis is the 5th starter, excuse on eof the 5 starters. He certainly CERTAINLY is earning it.
Hammer - March 18, 2008
Actually if the Cubs are the Bears
That would mean every coach and every teammate knows Dempster is the better pitcher as does everyone who knows the game and will go with Dempster despite not having as good of a training camp.
Because every coach and player on the Bears knew Grossman was the better QB in 06.
Of course the comparison isn't really fair to Marquis because Marquis is facing the same level of competition that Dempster is while Griese played the 2nd through 4th string in the preseason.
Although you are right if you say Griese doesn't lose the Super Bowl. We don't get there with him.
puckishcubsfan - March 18, 2008
I don't know....
I think people like Dempster as a person better, but as a pitcher? He hasn't started since what, 2001? At least with Marquis you know you'll get a solid 15 starts before All-Star break.... then not so much.
CubsBullsBears - March 18, 2008
My response
My resonse was more about his Bears comparison.
The Bears listened to their heads not the fans and idiot media and stayed with Grossman and went to the Super Bowl.
Maybe Dempster will take us to the world series.
puckishcubsfan - March 18, 2008

Josh Timmers - March 18, 2008
5 IP in ST
Is probably equivalent to 7 IP in the regular season. I think the Cubs would like that out of their 5th starter. Dempster next start is huge for him. If he sucks it up again and Marquis doesn't get traded, I have to think Marquis would make the starting rotation.
lemon20pie - March 18, 2008
i THINK
i THINK Hendry is probably dangling both Dempster and Marquis as trade bait and whoever is bit on first is gone.

So, that's what an out looks like.
BlueSox - March 18, 2008
OK He stopped the bleeding.

The object of Spring Training
The object of Spring Training shouldn't be to win but to see who how
everyone plays. You can learn as much from a loss as from a win.
bubbamike the one and only - March 18, 2008
agreed 100 percent
these wins and losses mean nothing
Chanman25 - March 18, 2008
Nice hit by Ronny
sue369 - March 18, 2008
how's he look on the base pads?
Any sign of his hamstring injury?
Gucci - March 18, 2008
I think
he's looking OK.
sue369 - March 18, 2008
Howdy folks!
I've been reading for weeks, signed up today and thought I'd throw a few ol'-fart thoughts in here....1) unless Patterson is a clone of his brother, he is a better bet than Roberts, who costs WAY too much. 2) Cedeno is very talented, just not skilled in the thinking end of baseball. 3)Pie needs to play every day, lefty or righty...his D wins more games than Roberts lead-off skills bring.
crazymountain - March 18, 2008
Welcome to BCB
From one ol'fart to another.
tucsoncubsfan - March 18, 2008
good thoughts.
I believe the Cubs handle players differently now than when CPat was with us (for the better). So, even a CPat clone would be more likely to succeed here now.
Regarding the cost of Roberts; I feel he brings stability and potency to the lineup and positions others to solidify our bench. He may be well worth the cost for these added benefits.
I hope Cedeno can act smart enough to seem lucrative in a trade deal.
With Pie; do we bet the farm with him and start him everyday as a growing project? Probably - he has nothing else to prove in AAA. The questions are: how long does the project last and what's the back up plan?

Ward strikes out.

The end of Bleedcubbieblue
The graphic-heavy design of the new version of bcb has made it impossible for me to use on my older laptop, even with high speed internet connection. Yet another casualty of the whole Web 2.0 overdosing by coders who love flash and all the other stuff that slows down computers.
It is with sadness that I say: my enjoyment of the great content and community that makes up bleedcubbieblue has most likely come to a close (unless I can scrape together enough money to buy a new computer).
Very sadly,
exnorthsider
ExNorthsider - March 18, 2008
Sorry to hear that
I'm still using dial up at home and haven't tried to access the new BCB yet. I'm afraid it will really be slow now.
tucsoncubsfan - March 18, 2008
Thanks. How did you post?
How did you post this if you aren't using the new bleedcubbieblue?
ExNorthsider - March 18, 2008
Nevermind
I presume you're at work. Sorry about that.
ExNorthsider - March 18, 2008
posting from work
I'm spoiled here at work with a great computer system.
tucsoncubsfan - March 18, 2008
Plus - I work for a Cubs fan!!!
I'm on BCB all day, plus other SB Nation sites and my own blog (www.lostinthevines.blogspot.com)
lostinthevines - March 18, 2008
Please email....
... bugreport@sbnation.com with this. Perhaps some adjustments can be made.
(FYI, there's no flash used here.)
Al Yellon - March 18, 2008
I'm really sorry to hear this
As Al suggested, please send us an email -- bugreport@sbnation.com -- so we can get more information about your computer, browser, and the specific problems you're having. Hopefully we can make things better for you.

Thanks, ol'fart!
I don't think we need a backup plan for Pie. We need to let him grow up under fire.....In fact, we need to let our home-grown kids grow up in the bigs. Seems the Marlins have had success doing just that.
The Century without a championship is overrated, I think it is better to have more consistant success without giving away the farm than it is to win now....
crazymountain - March 18, 2008
Now pitching...
Jimmy Gobble

Ends the inning getting a fly ball to right
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
The fans at the game were gobbling at him. :)
BlueSox - March 18, 2008
Hart's curve...
is sexxy wicked.
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
Cedeno...
RBI triple to RF corner...TIE GAME!
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
OMG
Cubs Win!
BlueSox - March 18, 2008
Spring Training be damned! Fly it...
santoswoodenlegs - March 18, 2008
Thanks!!! :-)
sue369 - March 18, 2008
Whenever someone posts a comment,
Your flag totally stops for a couple seconds. This new site could be dog slow when there are a gazillion posts a minute during a real game.
BlueSox - March 18, 2008
Nice ending
Nice game for Cedeno. Great rally by the bottom of the order.
JohnM - March 18, 2008
I Heard Cintron Pulled a Hammy?
Is this true? And if so, anyone hear how bad it is?
initram - March 18, 2008
So the Cubs actually won a game that Marquis
started? This cannot be possible
