SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Didn't we do this yesterday?
The Cubs travel down I-10 to face the Rockies again this afternoon. I wouldn't expect too many of the starters to make the two-hour bus ride, but then again, Lou has surprised us before.
Sean Marshall will face Jeff Francis.
Notes:Right. So that's where you're getting your info now, Rick? From listening to talk shows? That makes three columns now (Couch, Downey, Morrissey) on virtually the same topic, with virtually the same approach ("The Cubs are doomed!!!11!") without any of the three actually setting foot in the state of Arizona this month.
Gives you pause to ask, "Why do these newspapers pay these people? What is their purpose?"
This really is the pain-in-the-butt factor. As long as your value outweighs how big of a pain you are, you will be wanted.
The scales have tipped on Bonds. He's responsible for everything coming back to him now, for every day his phone doesn't ring.
An owner who pays for him will have an angry fan base, an uncomfortable team chemistry and an awful lot of negative press, especially when Bonds' case goes to trial.Today's game is on ESPN2. If you're not near a TV, you can see it on MLB.TV at the MLB.com Mediacenter.

Reds have sent Bruce down. Patterson his hitting a robust .455.
Keep an eye on those boys in Red.

Waste It All...
... in Spring Training, boys!
initram - March 21, 2008
Precisely.
I'm actually glad to hear KPat is doing so well this spring. We'll see what's up when the games start to count. I feel pretty confident that, within a few weeks, we'll all have smug smiles on our faces.
daver - March 21, 2008
KPat?
Is "K" short for "strike out"? Or, to change his luck, did he change his name to Korey?
initram - March 21, 2008
ISTR...
... Patterson having good springs with the Cubs, too.
Al Yellon - March 21, 2008
Ah yes
he was a star until we railroaded him out of town. :)

Craig Counsell is batting .447...
... he'll probably get the starting 3B job for the Brewers. 8-p
IMHO, Dusty Baker is absolutely the worst choice for a manager to work with young talent. Bruce, Votto, Cueto, Bailey, Volquez, etc, that team would be going places without Dusty at the wheel.
The top prospect in all of baseball, Jay Bruce probably needs more time in AAA. Oh well, at least he won't be there to beat up on us.
IowaCubs- - March 21, 2008
I just got done reading
Morrissey's crap right before coming here, he is so full of himself. We weren't going to overpay for Santana, we weren't going to get Garland from the Sux, Bedard was maybe the one we missed on. Our entire staff is good enough to repeat winning the division IMHO. And you never know what will happen before the trading deadline in the summer. You have to win the division or WC first.
Dempster doesn't intimidate anyone? So what? If we want intimidation, I guess we needed to go get Michael Strahan from the football Giants to pitch. Does Greg Maddux intimidate anyone? He just knows how to freaking pitch.
I get so pissed reading these numbskulls, I wonder why I bother. Like we talked about the other day, they get people talking about them, don't they?
BigJohnAZ - March 21, 2008
I guess that's the reason for their existence.
Doesn't make me want to buy the paper, though.
Al Yellon - March 21, 2008
They should...
...get people talking about them because their columns are insightful or controversial, not pedestrian and unoriginal.

AC 00 00 00 - March 21, 2008
Dempster's last full season as a starter was in 2003, he went 3-7, 6.54 for the Reds. His last decent season as a starter was in 2001...15-12, 4.94. So, no he doesn't intimidate anyone, and maybe that's a poor word to choose but the point is that he wasn't that good as a starter.
DrCrawdad - March 22, 2008
The way Weurtz
has thrown for the Cubs I don't believe he will go anywhere. His salary is cheap, and he has been very dependable in the pen. Only on occasion he loses the strike zone, other than that, he is solid.
Corey Patterson, what a frustrating waste of talent he has been and become.

bonds?
I really really really hope the 1st half of the season isn't story anfter story about Bonds and where he might end up. The only attention he should be getting is from the IRS and anyone who invested in his 1987 Topps rookie cards.
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
Bonds not the top story...
It seems the top 2 stories this year are (1) a certain Central Division team that is approaching some kind of major "anniversary" and (2) the last year for the Yankees in "The House That Ruth Built". Bonds seems to have fallen off the radar a little.
MetsSuck - March 21, 2008
I'd rather hear a history of the Cubs drought over Bonds any day.
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
"Why do these newspapers pay these people? What is their purpose?"
Of course, one of their favorite arguments when going after bloggers is that they have access to the clubhouse and the players, but when was the last time Mariotti went to a Cubs/Sox/any game?
At this point they pretty much just regurgitate the same stuff over and over again.
VS - March 21, 2008
Felipe Lopez?
Nationals are trying to trade him. Lopez had an off year in 2007, but he put up good numbers for a SS in 2005 and 2006. I know many of you are enamored with Theriot, but it's hard to argue that Lopez wouldn't be an improvement. He's owed around 5 mil this year. Not sure what the Nats would want.
ms9av - March 21, 2008
Starting Pitching
OK, the Nats really need help everywhere besides 1B (where they have a surplus), but their rotation needs massive help. I could see the Cubs getting Lopez (and maybe a throw-in) for Gallagher if they were to look in that direction. I like Lopez, but I am not sure that he is enough of a defensive boost over Theriot to warrant shaving off some SP depth.

Crappy Columnists
I thought that it was obvious. The reason these people have jobs is to push everyone's buttons. We all know that they spew garbage, but people keep talking about what they write. That leads to people mentioning the newspaper in conversations and even buying the paper so that they can join in the water cooler conversations. It is all a marketing ploy IMHO. If we collectively stop reading any articles by these schmucks, then they will be deemed irrelevant and eventually will be fired. Myself, I only read stuff by the beat writers.
Qixotl - March 21, 2008
Bonds
I bet a co-worker a beer last night (yes, I know, I'm such a high-roller) that a contending American League team will sign Barry Bonds before or shortly after the All-Star break. There will be a team that will be willing to roll the dice and deal with the circus for two and a half months or so, in order to try to get over the top. It will be strictly a rent-a-player situation, and will probably blow up in their face, but I'll be shocked if that doesn't happen.
Also, does anyone else agree with me now? No one did yesterday when I said Rich Hill should be the odd man out in the starting rotation. Don't tell me about the thin Arizona air; he looked pathetic. Z, Lilly, Lieber, Dempster, and Marquis. That's my rotation. I don't know what you do with Hill, but you've gotta have your five best in the rotation.

Off topic question regarding MLBTV
Ok, so I'm in black out land here at home, but I'm going to Europe for a month this summer, and I really can't live without the Cubs. If I get MLBTV will I be able to watch the games on a laptop while I'm away? Or, will I still be blacked out? Has anybody done this?
Thanks.
buckmulligan - March 21, 2008
You should check with MLBI
I'm sure it's in their FAQs, etc. There has been a lot of confusion over this issue in past years as to whether they blackout the feed based on your credit card address or your IP address.
JohnM - March 21, 2008
The likelihood is that you can...
MLB uses a system based in part on your IP address. Once it's read as part of a RIPE address space (as opposed to ARIN), it should let you right through. Worst case, you can call the toll free, and they can manually verify and override, if need be.
Damen Jackson - March 21, 2008
And note that while the toll free number
won't be toll free calling from Europe, it will work. Good luck getting through. I haven't had to call in a couple of years, but back then, it took forever to get through on the help line.
JohnM - March 21, 2008
thanks folks.
I know that it supposed to be based on your ip, but i don't trust them for some reason.
buckmulligan - March 21, 2008
I used proxy servers
last year to watch the saturday games on Fox.. So I am pretty sure it is IP address and not billing address of your credit card.

Plenty of things drive me nuts about Lou...
...but perhaps nothing does so more than his strange notion that Ward is a better defensive option in right than Murton.
cwyers - March 21, 2008
Yeah, you would think...
...Lou would want to give Murton every opportunity to gain more experience playing right . I don't get it either.
daver - March 21, 2008
Or,
(and this is at the risk of sounding like Lou's lickspittle) Lou's trying to get Murton a little more time in LF, since a 4th OF needs to be able to man more than one OF position.
gary varsho - March 21, 2008
Wow...
...I've never encountered the term "lickspittle" before. I'm not sure I want to know its origins. In any case, that's a good point. I guess I'm just figuring Murton has already played so much left field that he would benefit more from playing right more often. But whatever...I must admit, I still like seeing Matt in the lineup.
daver - March 21, 2008
I see your point.
Lickspittle is basically the guy would would so fawn over the king, the he could have licked the spittle from his beard. It's a sort of uber yes-man, so to speak.
And I like seeing Murton in there, too.
gary varsho - March 21, 2008
I like seeing
Murton getting to play any where. I'm glad it's on tv today.
sue369 - March 21, 2008
it's on TV today?
argh. I should go home. it's STILL FREAKIN' SNOWING!
drewishdrewid - March 21, 2008
I don't think it's a "notion"....
... I think it's just Lou trying to get playing time for ALL his outfielders at ALL positions, because you never know when Ward might be needed in RF.
IIRC, Ward played right a couple times last year and didn't do too badly.
Al Yellon - March 21, 2008
Yeah
But the ball was never hit to him.
wild bill - March 21, 2008
He couldn't be any worse defensively than
Murton. He really is only suited for LF.
LT - March 21, 2008
No, actually...
... the ball WAS hit to him. He played 10 games in RF last year, had 25 putouts and 1 assist.
Al Yellon - March 21, 2008
Al
I was only kidding. Of course the ball was hit to him, right at him!
wild bill - March 21, 2008
I was trying to say that Murton is only suited for LF
I think Ward is ok in RF every now and then.
LT - March 21, 2008

The ESPN promo I saw yesterday for this game featured Sori. I guess they didn't check with Lou first? Or, if they did, is something wrong with Sori that he was a late scratch for the trip?
DeRoMyHero - March 21, 2008
No...
... probably ESPN making an assumption that was unwarranted. Most times, Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Fukudome, don't make the bus trip to Tucson.

Off topic: Nomar
I didn't like it when the Cubs traded him...but Nomar G. appears to be injured again -- a broken finger or some such. Has there ever been a position player (NOT Prior, Wood) that consistently gets injured so much?
zevkalman - March 21, 2008
Rotoworld rips No Mahr!
Nomar Garciaparra (hand) said he wouldn't resume swinging a bat this weekend as the Dodgers hoped he would.
"Everybody wants to predict. I'm not," Garciaparra said. "I have no control over it." Of course you have control over it, Nomar. You could choose to tough it out and play through an injury that probably can't get any worse. But that's never been your style. The Dodgers are now listing their third baseman as doubtful for Opening Day. Manager Joe Torre said Tony Abreu was the front-runner to fill in, but that Blake DeWitt and Chin-Lung Hu remain in the running.

wild bill - March 21, 2008
In Griffey's case...
... it's a real shame, because from all accounts, he has played the game clean all these years, and if not for the injuries, he'd have close to 700 HR by now and be threatening the record.
Al Yellon - March 21, 2008
Agreed
He has always presented him self well. Kind of player albeit not on our team, but one that you could respect.
wild bill - March 21, 2008
Agreed
Wouldn't it have been great if Griffey was right behind Bonds entering the season and no one signed Bonds. Bonds would have to sit and mope as Griffey passed him.
rlpete - March 21, 2008
I think we may yet see
Bonds and Griffey on the same team....
gary varsho - March 21, 2008
Why
would we trade Wuertz? He did a nice job last year and I would assume he would again this year. The bullpen is a real strength of this club in my opinion, don't mess with it. I feel pretty good about the team we have right now. No lineup is perfect, but I think we have what it takes to win the division.
Nobody is offering Bonds because he brings too many negatives to a team. Somebody else made reference to it earlier, if the pain in the butt exceeds the return, it isn't worth it. Bonds can probably still hit, but he isn't going to hit 70 home runs anymore and he is a near cripple in the field and on the bases. Just not worth the hassle, although it is possible someone may pick him up for the second half stretch run.

ESPN2 is covering...
some lame NASCAR race. I swear...NASCAR is like soccer for rednecks, 3 hours of nothing interrupted periodically by sudden violence. Y. A. W. N.
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Soccer is not boring.
Unless you were speaking of the Bundesliga. Then yes, it is boring. NASCAR, OTOH, is terrifically mind-numbing.
gary varsho - March 21, 2008
Sorry...
but in my worthless opinion it is. 90 minutes of running around, kicking a ball, falling down and then having the entire thing decided on penalty kicks is...not entertaining to me. But hey...if you like it...rock on gold dust woman! To be fair, I know plenty of people who tell me baseball is boring and unwatchable as well, so...you know...to each his own.
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Fair enough.
gary varsho - March 21, 2008
You're right about the penalty shoot out
which is absurd, but is only used in tournament tie-breaker situations (correct me if i'm wrong, gary varsho -- in normal league play, there are draws). But you need to lock in and concentrate in soccer in order to get a payoff. Visual grazing doesn't satisfy. Kind of like in baseball too, for example in a pitchers' duel. To the casual observer it's the most boring game ever. But if you are locked in watching the pitching, and appreciate the difficulty the hitters are having, it gets more and more exciting as the "nothingness" continues....
JohnM - March 21, 2008
About the only thing I get...
when I "lock in and concentrate" on a soccer game, is the sudden urge to yell "Just pick up the ball and throw it already!"
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008

gary varsho - March 21, 2008

Gaelic Football
gary varsho - March 21, 2008
Correct.
Penalty kick shootouts are only in play during tournament play, and only after a 30 minute extra time. League matches that are tied after injury time end in a draw. Watching soccer is an investment, definitely not a grazing-friendly event. FWIW I hate the penalty kick structure, as it knocked my Spurs out of UEFA this year. Arrrrggghhh.

lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I took the liberty of...
making a poop hierarchy chart for us to follow, if of course, Sue gives it her stamp of apporval.
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
LMAO!
I love your imagination.
BlueSox - March 21, 2008
BRILLANT!
Sue, you should print this out and keep it next to your computer for quick reference.
daver - March 21, 2008
THat's hilarious, Azzhole ;)
Keep it up and I might not come back here anymore
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I did print
it out and it's hanging above my computer. My husband thinks it's pretty funny.
sue369 - March 22, 2008
LMAO!!!
I love that.
sue369 - March 21, 2008
I wonder if Ronnie feels better...
...after seeing 2Low get picked off, too.
daver - March 21, 2008
I doubt Cedeno even noticed it.
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
oops
I said his name, sorry Al.
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
But....
You have the world's smartest ballplayer at the top? Hmmm....puzzling..........
crazymountain - March 21, 2008
Who needs Brian Roberts
When you have Theriot!
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Hmmm
I thought if the pitcher pickoffs a guy that eventually gets tagged out in a rundown... it goes as a pickoff & a CS
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
What a Beautiful Thing...
... to see a game on TV!!
initram - March 21, 2008
Nice job matt
Single to RF
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
How
is Ronnie doing on TV? He is replacing Brenly today right?
gwood - March 21, 2008
I thought that was Monday's game
n/t
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
maybe it is, I just remember reading that Santo was replacing Brenly for a game soon
gwood - March 21, 2008
I thought so as well
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
it must be
We've got generic announcers today on ESPN. At least, I don't recognize the voices.
bluebythebook - March 21, 2008
The color guy's
Orel Hershiser
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
We've got the ESPN2 crew on MLB.TV
and actually, I think Santo fills in for Bob on Monday
JohnM - March 21, 2008
man it is not Wards day at all
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Dang!
It looks like he fell the right way, though.
That was a hit!
initram - March 21, 2008
Brutal.
daver - March 21, 2008
Rats....

santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Let's see...
that would be Guarded, right?
BlueSox - March 21, 2008
Correct.
n/t
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
I'll hold off until Sue weighs in
BlueSox - March 21, 2008
There's Matt showing his awesome defensive prowess
That I've heard so much about from Cub fans
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Seriously...
that was a tough play against the wall, there's no guarantee Soriano makes that catch either.
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
That's not saying much Santo
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Geeze...
he's a 4th outfielder at best, why would you expect him to play above average defense? He'll make the routine plays, and maybe get lucky sometimes, other than that...just don't expect to be "wowed" by him OK?
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
I don't expect anything from him on Defense
Because I know he's a hack out there but you need to tell that to the majority of Cub fans here who think that he's an above average fielder and he get's a bad rep.
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I'd like a show of hands...
...of how many Cubs fans really consider him an above average fielder. I know I don't. I consider him an average fielder in left and a below average fielder in right. He's got a great swing, though, and he gets on base a lot. That's what I like.
daver - March 21, 2008
Agreed.
BlueSox - March 21, 2008
100% agree
I'm not going to go digging through the discussions on how his "numbers" show he's an above average fielder, but I agree, Matt is a very nice 4th OF.
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I don't think anyone makes the catch on that
It should have been played off the wall... I guess we can give him a break for not knowing that park...
LT - March 21, 2008
Maybe an AL team would want him for DH?
Wait, they want power hitters for that... Now what?
LT - March 21, 2008
Nice play by Dero and McGeehee
JohnM - March 21, 2008
Derosa showing his versatility
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Versatility
a 4 letter word to Cub fans :)
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Ouch.
Marshall ok?
BlueSox - March 21, 2008
what happened to him?
gwood - March 21, 2008
Got hit by a batted ball. He seems fine.
BlueSox - March 21, 2008
They're hitting eveyrhint hard
JohnM - March 21, 2008
Dang...Marshall almost got outta that.
daver - March 21, 2008
Crap.
n/t
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Hill
Do you think that the Cubs would DL Hill, have him sort some things out in the minors, etc while the Cubs continue to try and push Marquis?
Do you think this is what Piniella, Rothschild and Hendry would be talking about with him?!?
initram - March 21, 2008
Shhhhh
TOTAL NONSENSE!!!!!! HILL IS A PROVEN PITCHER!!!!
End of sarcasm.
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I hate this Viagara commercial
but I watch it for the ending when the guy goes woo
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Cracks me up everytime
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Did he just
say Marty Barrett?
sue369 - March 21, 2008
What's Lou up to?
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Lou is getting ready...
... to talk in the next half inning.
initram - March 21, 2008
That explains it
sweeet!!
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
oh for cripes sake
bluebythebook - March 21, 2008
oops
My comp spazzed and posted that before I was done -- ANYWAY -- These guys on ESPN are asking Lou "whether or not his ejection" helped the team. Haven't we covered this... last season?
bluebythebook - March 21, 2008
Exactly...
... don't you think there would be better questions to ask him?!?
initram - March 21, 2008
THink they'll mention 1908??
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Yes.
I'm sure they will.
bluebythebook - March 21, 2008
I stand corrected
It appears they won't.
bluebythebook - March 21, 2008
Wait... they still have time!
initram - March 21, 2008
Hoffpower in for DWaryle.
daver - March 21, 2008
Hopefully Ward is OK
... I just hope it's precautionary...
initram - March 21, 2008
My turn: Crap!
daver - March 21, 2008
Who is this pitching?
Isn't 36 Gallagher's number?
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Rocky Roquet
jasoniniowa - March 21, 2008
TY
perfect first name for him
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
lol at the Fukudome Picture
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Did He Just Say...
... that Fukudome will bat 2nd... then he'll drop him to 5th when we get Roberts?
initram - March 21, 2008
Yes he did
That's what I thought he said too anyway
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Then he said that
Hill will be sent to Iowa when they get AJ Burnett
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Seriously?
I turned away to watch the NCAA's...
did he really say those things or are you trying to be funny?
sheamcmurray - March 21, 2008
Trying to be funny
I'll stop
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Either That...
... or share what you're smokin'! ;-)
initram - March 21, 2008
I think he said Fukudome will most likely bat second
he said the number one hitter needs to be able to run. So Theriot is going to be our leadoff hitter as long as he hits or we get Roberts.
So with Roberts this will be our line-up
Roberts
Fukudome
Soriano
Lee
Ramirez
But I wouldn't be surprised if Soriano ends up hitting 5th at some point
With no Roberts our line-up is
Theriot
Fukudome
Soriano
Lee
Ramirz
DeRosa
Soto
Pie
cubsfan25 - March 21, 2008
Lou just said
that he might switch the line-up to
Theriot
Fukudome
Soriano
Lee
Ramirez
Personally I think Fukudome needs to be in the two spot if we have Theriot leading off. Because we need at least one high OBP guy at the top of the order. I like Theriot, Fukudome, Lee, Ramirez and Soriano better but I can live with that lineup.
cubsfan25 - March 21, 2008
Wow I know it's ST
But he can rake
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
No Vlad is best bad ball hitter
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Is Cedeno Still Using...
... Fukudome's 35oz bat?
initram - March 21, 2008
OK, Ronnie, the pickoff is forgiven.
daver - March 21, 2008
be careful
There's only 2 outs in the inning
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
DeRo's...
...gotta go the opposite way there...
initram - March 21, 2008
Two-run homer here for Murton?!?
I'll bet on that...
initram - March 21, 2008
You jinxed him
sue369 - March 21, 2008
I'll say weak tapper to 3rd
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
Close!!
initram - March 21, 2008
Piggy's in
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
OT: Quick Question...
... who has tried to go to other websites and use "c" and "z" to update?
*blush*
initram - March 21, 2008
Hey!!! Thanks!
Didn't know about that feature...was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the pink highlights without refreshing the page, that what the Z button is for
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
Pink?
JohnM - March 21, 2008
Yeah
New comments pop up with a pink background on my screen.
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
hmmm...
... I think that it shows as yellow for most.
initram - March 21, 2008
Uh huh
JohnM - March 21, 2008
Really?
Mine are yellow.
sue369 - March 21, 2008
looks pinkish to me
anormal - March 21, 2008
Oh yeah
I am partially color-blind, so they may be yellow, but they look pinkish/peach colored to me
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
Yeah, I've done it a couple times in the past day or so.
daver - March 21, 2008
I Am Sure That...
...Al would be proud of that.
initram - March 21, 2008
Nice inning
from Piganatiello. Lou pretty much said he's not going to make the team unless there's a trade. But if he does well in Iowa again, I'm sure he will be one of the first call ups, especially if Eyre struggles early again.
cubsfan25 - March 21, 2008
I actually chuckled
at that High Life guy bitchin' at the people in the skybox for not knowing what inning the game was in. I wanted to do that to the people on the rooftop I bootlegged my way into a coupla years ago....100+ people, maybe 10 were watching the game
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
The hitter I'm starting to get concerned
with is Geovanny Soto. The guy got off to a hot start the first week and half, but has really struggled since then. Bat speed was always a problem for Soto before 07, and from seeing hit this spring, his bat looks pretty slow. So hopefully he gets it going soon.
cubsfan25 - March 21, 2008
The Rockies Radio Announcers...
... were saying that he has a long way to go defensively.
Nah!
initram - March 21, 2008
Is it me?
Or does it seem like Les Walrond has pitched in every single game this spring training?
daver - March 21, 2008
Just you
this is his 7th game. Whereas H Power as been in 22
JohnM - March 21, 2008
Hmpf...
...that still seems like an awful lot of work for a guy who stands just a little more chance of making the Cubs 25-man roster than I do.
daver - March 21, 2008
Counting today...
he's only pitched 6 innings...
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Wow, OK...
...well, that's not a lot of work, I guess. Maybe I'm just lucky enough to always be following the game when he's come in to pitch.
daver - March 21, 2008
Now...
...that seems low.
20 appearances, though? ;-)
initram - March 21, 2008
I Thought Capusano...
...was re-assigned last week to AAA?
initram - March 21, 2008
Here...
From http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/team/transactions.jsp?c_id=chc
How is he pitching now?
initram - March 21, 2008
it's spring training, that's how.
anormal - March 21, 2008
I Thought When They Were Re-assigned...
...they no longer played with the big league club... even in ST.
initram - March 21, 2008
Maybe he signed
one of those 1 day deals that Billy Crystal got
MillsChC - March 21, 2008
looks like you were wrong about that.
maybe lou can give himself an at-bat or two to show em how it's done.
anormal - March 21, 2008
I'd say...
left handed from the looks of it.
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
"not well" works also.
anormal - March 21, 2008
That's...
... an understatement.
initram - March 21, 2008
Is this the all lefthanded pitching staff?
BTW, it's stopped snowing.....
cowsarecool220 - March 21, 2008
HA!
I jinxed it! Lou brought in a rightie.
cowsarecool220 - March 21, 2008
and it started snowing again...
initram - March 21, 2008
well, this bites
and to think, I took off work early to catch the end of the game on TV.
drewishdrewid - March 21, 2008
Wish I had some M&M's
This game is totally boring. Definitely a snacking game.
cowsarecool220 - March 21, 2008
I'm liking E. Patterson more and more
...and I've always liked Fontenot :-) Good job!
zevkalman - March 21, 2008
Little Mikey Fontentot

drewishdrewid - March 21, 2008
FONTE-YES!
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
That's scary Keystroke!!!
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
And no...
I didnt come up with that horrible name myself. I was waiting outside the bleachers before a game and my friend and I saw a girl making a FONTE-YES sign. geee wizz haha
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
Fonte-YES!!!
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
great minds think alike
cowsarecool220 - March 21, 2008
HAHA!
Thats the 1st semi-compliment I've gotten since I've been on this site.
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
OH MAN!
That is pretty bad. We should both sulk in shame haha
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008

cowsarecool220 - March 21, 2008

GoCubbies34 - March 21, 2008

Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008

I'm so sick of winter weather!
cowsarecool220 - March 21, 2008
I guess we can't feel too bad...
after all, these are the National League Champion Colorado Rockies we just lost to. Right?
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Wow here it goes...
100 year special on Baseball tonight geez
GoCubbies34 - March 21, 2008

Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
Ugh.
So tired of hearing about this.
Al Yellon - March 21, 2008
And it's only the begining. Just imagine the whirlwind of media when the playoffs begin. geezzzzzz
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
Wow...
Has it been 100 years already?
CubsBullsBears - March 21, 2008

drewishdrewid - March 21, 2008
9 more days kids
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I cant wait
I bought myself a warm and toasty Cub sweatshirt at Clark Street Sports today. It will keep me warm til the beers kick in.
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
Cold beer in frigid cold weather?
Mad props.
lemon20pie - March 21, 2008
I used to
bring a water bottle with vodka and a few redbulls in but the big security guy who checks people at the leftfield side of the bleacher enterances has this new fun yellow stick he likes to use to check pockets. I had it out with that guy last year. I had my big H7 Sony camera in my cargo pocket and he'll hit your pocket with the stick and if it hits something hard he'll ask to see in. he hit my pocket hard twice and I said "HEY MAN! Take it easy. You're hitting my camera and if you break it you'll pay for it." He got all pissed and started getting cocky threatening to not let me in. Pleeez guy, having a yellow stick doesn tallow you to power trip. So now every time he sees me he takes extra time to make me and anyone else with me empty their pockets to hold up the line and get people mad at us. LAME
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
Tell him to..
santoswoodenlegs - March 21, 2008
Great movie!
Ohhhhh Missy...
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
So let me ask this.
Does it make anyone mad that I would sneak booze into the game? I have some people tell me I'm a genius for saving so much money. I also have others give me the third degree saying I'm stealing from the organzation.
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
nope. You bought a ticket.
But then, I make popcorn at home and take it to the movie theatre too, so...
drewishdrewid - March 21, 2008
cool
I dont do it often. And I dont get crazy and out of control and ruin anyone elses time. I'm 6ft6 290 and it takes more than 4 beers for me to have a 'good time' on a Friday afternoon at the game. Next thing ya know I'm down $60 for 8 beers. I'll buy 1 or 2 but it's much much cheaper to bring the good ole vodka if I decide to party a little hard.
Keystone80435 - March 21, 2008
you might not
want to describe yourself in any greater detail.... that guard might read this site.
ballstitch - March 21, 2008
