Bleed Cubbie Blue

Open Thread: Cubs vs. White Sox, Saturday 3/22, 3:05 CT

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Some local weather forecasters predict that today, the Valley will register its first 90-degree temperature of 2008.

Yes, I know many of you in the Chicago area are buried under up to 11 inches of snow. So let's think warm thoughts and talk baseball.

I posted a couple of articles you may not have seen last night in the thread just below this one. The only thing to update information there is Bruce Miles' article in the Daily Herald this morning, in which he says that Lou may tinker with the lineup for a few more days, but once the Cubs get to Vegas next Friday, he wants to have everything set.

This article is mostly about the White Sox, but I'm posting it for this quote from Kenny Williams, a cogent analysis of trading:

"But it takes two to tango, and there's nothing you can do about it," Williams said. "You give your own assessment of your own team and you picture matchups in your head and you think there might be a need elsewhere.

"But in their minds, they would rather go in a different direction, whether it be for talent purposes or economic purposes or both."

That applies to the Cubs, too (or any other team, for that matter). We can debate trades here endlessly, and I'm sure Jim Hendry has been on his cellphone constantly discussing various possibilities. But there are many other factors involved in making a trade other than saying, "Hey, we want this guy."

Ted Lilly will start for the Cubs this afternoon. He'll face Javier Vazquez. Don't expect to see Kerry Wood today -- his back-to-back outings are going to be tomorrow and Monday. Today's game is on WGN radio -- no TV. It's also on XM, channel 181, and at the MLB.com Mediacenter.

That's a great quote

from KW, even if it's only a clarification of the obvious. Perhaps it took him a lot less time to get fed up with MacPhail and Angelos.

Javy Vasquez has been throwing darts this spring. It'll be interesting to see how the Cubs manage against him.

Not so obvious when reading some postings here

You can find posts about how bad Hendry is for not acquiring Bedard, Santana, Greene, Roberts, Crisp and numerous others. Some seem to think that Hendry just has to call these teams and request the players and voila, they are Cubs.

I think you are right....

...it is unreasonable to expect the Cubs (or any team) to go after and acquire what is perceived to be every great player that's available. It is unrealistic to expect that type of approach, maybe even silly.

The truth in the criticism may be that the Cubs do not have the quality and depth in their organization to make even the moves that they think would be solid. Or the Cubs may not place as high a value on certain things as other teams.

The Cubs have been making improvements under Hendry, no question. Even with the lack of position player talent in the farm system, they have offset it with above average pitching depth. I like the Fukudome signing and that he'll apparently hit 2 or 1 and that tells me that someone in this organization is finally addressing their woeful OBP in the 1&2 slots. I think it is a reasonable criticism of Hendry that he's either deferred to his manager or just not been persuaded as to the value of not giving away outs at ridiculous rates at the top of the lineup. I am glad that they are willing to use Fukudome to address this problem area.

The roster dictates at least one additional signifcant move to me. Deals get done all of the time, it isn't as hard or as easy as portrayed to get what you need. The Cubs have pitching depth and perhaps two interesting develpomental position players. The Cubs need more star quality players (who doesn't). It's hard to leap to that next level, you need the budget and you need the minor league depth. I don't know if the Cubs have the stomach for the cash required given the onwership transition and they may not have the roster talent to offer? But the roster situation dictates another major move and if pitching is over valued we should get a decent position player in return. The latter type of deal is what Hendry gets paid to do and it's certainly within his capabilities unless onwership has now dictated salary dump v. go for the flag. Still, I wouldn't mind if we traded pitching depth for overall organization depth, even with 100 years of losing you still need a plan for the future.

Finally, under new onwership I'd love to see a Theo Epstein type run the Cubs. I don't hate Hendry (overall he's doing a decent job), but I'd like to see the Cubs have the best and brightest at the top with a plan that the entire organization implements. I don't have much hope for it as I expect the new owners will be insiders who have no intention of spending on player D and every intention on milking that taxpayer subsidy, extracting as much from the team for 3-5 years and selling it for beaucoup gggggrrrrrrr.....

Question(s)

Just out of curiosity. Could the Cubs get/afford any player they want right now? Do the Cubs have piles of cash in the bank to pay top 10 player money? Do they have the players available that are quality and expendable to make a trade later in the year?

I think the Cubs...

... DO have enough money to add a player at the trading deadline. What do you mean by "top 10 player"? What sorts of players like that are even available right now?

No player in particular.

Just wondering if they had available what it would take to sign an A-Rod or Hanley Ramirez...Holliday..Utley..Santana ..Bedard. Not saying they need to, and like you said the market is closed on guys like these for now, just wondering if they could. Or is the bankroll already spent on Soriano, Z and Dome.

It's probably too soon to answer

A lot will depend on what a lot of the younger players do. If Soto, Pie, Theriot, Hill, Gallagher, Marmol etc. show enough to hold down positions full time then that is a lot of cheap players under Cubs control for quite a few years. If that is the case then yes the Cubs could get another really high priced player. However, if the Cubs are having to hit the market to fill a lot of gaps, it might be a little tougher.

I guess what I'm asking is could the Cubs pull of a blockbuster deal before the deadline if they needed to fill a void with an All-Star and sign them for a multi year deal. I guess the better question is 'would they' not 'could they'.

The answer is partially given by Kenny Williams

The Cubs can probably trade for a big name player (they should have the $ for it), but the team trading has to want what the Cubs might offer. In the case of Brian Roberts, the Cubs are helped by the weak demand in the 2B market. But with Erik Bedard, there was larger demand and the Cubs couldn't offer a trade package that matched what Seattle could give. Then, in the case of Santana, the Cubs could have matched what the Mets offered (if MN had liked the Cubs offerings as much), but Santana only wanted to go to the East Coast. So there are a lot of factors that play into these things.

In general, the Cubs have $ room and the Cubs have pieces to trade. The Cubs' farm system has valuable pieces, but no top of the line prospects in it at this time. Things could change by the trading deadline, but if not one of our prospects takes a step up, we may not be able to match offers for any available All-Stars.

Thanks

for the info. I hope if a move needs to be made they make it.

Hendry has been good, I think,

at getting deals that help at the deadline. That Nomar (plus Murton!) trade was a masterpiece. We got Aramis for a song.

Another factor I forgot to mention was that teams are less inclined to trade All-Stars because of the double draft picks they get if the guy walks. In other words, whatever the Cubs offer for, say C.C. Sabathia, has to be better than what the Indians could get with two draft picks in the first and supplemental round of the draft.

But one situation, I'd be watching is LA's SS situation, where they have Chin-Lung Hu coming up, and he may get the opportunity to establish himself as ML-ready at 3B while Nomar and LaRoche are injured. If Hu hits, Rafael Furcal could be available in-season, and he's a player we know Hendry has eyed before.

good point about LA

But The-Riot has basically the exact same stats as Furcal cept the $13 difference in salary.

Yeah

if Furcal stays at his 2007 level, then we don't want him, but if last year was affected by his early season injuries, and he can hit like he has before, then I'd take his defense even if Theriot is hitting well. fwiw, PECOTA thinks he'll be back to a .350 OBP.

I think the Cubs have the money

but they don't have much minor league talent that will interest rebuilding teams. The Cubs best prospect is starting at catcher. After that it's Vitters who can't be traded yet. After that it starts getting a bit shaky. Players like Patterson, Cedeno and Veal all have significant issues.

thanks

Thats part of what I was trying to figure out. Could they deal players without draining the system of all the top talent.

No-Trade Clauses

The problem is (hopefully it's a good problem, but only time will tell) that when you look at the Cubs big contracts for Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Zambrano, and Fukudome, all of them have no-trade clauses, I think, except Dome. Now I'm not saying that's a bad thing because I see no reason why these guys can't keep producing for several more years. But when you're talking about trades, excluding pitchers, you're basically looking at CF, SS, 2B, and C positions that the Cubs could make a trade for at the Major League level, because the other positions are locked up for at least four more years. That's the gamble of no-trade clauses, and you just hope these guys can stay hungry and keep producing after they got their big payday. Again, I think they will, but it's always a risk.

10-5 Players

Remember, one of the reasons the Cubs were willing to give no trade clauses to Lee and Ramirez is that they will have 10-5 (10 years in majors, 5 with the same team) and will have automatic no trade protection, per the collective bargaining agreement.

Sabathia

Does anyone actually think the Indians would want to trade Sabathia, during a pennant race?

Good point about Furcal. I could definitely see that one happening.

Oh, let me be clear

I don't think Sabathia is likely to be on the trade market, but you can imagine a scenario where injuries and bad luck land the Indians out of the race and Sabathia is available. I was using CC as an example of a guy I knew was up for free agency.

The only suprise

Is that there are no surprise, despite Lou's wavering on where to bat Dome

I guess

Piniella is going to give his old line-up one more game before he makes the switch.

Sori

misjudges the ball, and it's a triple. And we're off, folks!

FWIW...

...on the pregame radio interview with Ron Santo, Lou said, at least twice, that the only addition to the team he might expect anytime soon is a backup centerfielder.

Immediately after he said it, I couldn't help thinking that this means the Ronnie Cedeno experiment out there has clearly been put to rest. It's funny; I don't recall Ronnie making any huge errors in the outfield, but I guess Lou saw enough to dismiss the idea out of hand.

an triple for ozuna

on a ball badly misjudged by soriano

single, and Ozuna

scores. 1-0 WS.

1-0

on a bloop base hit

I've seen Sori

misjudge too many. I know each team has a set pregame drills, etc., but wouldn't you think that they would have Sori taking tons of fly balls so he can improve? Isn't that what ST is for???

You're right of course

.and I was also going to comment on it. Sori not only needs more practice but also needs to see a shrink since I think he's mentioned he has a psychological issue with it (fear of hitting the wall).

K for Konerko

inning over

on a pop-up to Lee.

1-0 WS.

According to Pat,

Kerry is scheduled to pitch today and tomorrow

I heard that.

Should be interesting to see what happens.

Wasn't he supposed to pitch tomorrow and Monday?

that's what

Al said.

Fonty

walks.

Soriano flies out. 1 out.

Lee gets a single

Fonty to second.

Double Steal!

Fonty at 3rd, Lee at 2nd.

Struck out ARam at the time, tho. 2 outs.

Sweet

We should do more of this. I think it's one of the most underrated moves in baseball. Works great for the Mets (suck).

Dome

strikes out.

end of the inning. 1-0 WS.

Thanks for the updates

Dome with another K, I'm not worried, I'm not worried, I'm not worried.....

was wondering if anyone was reading.

:D

They specifically said Dome's swing on that last strike didn't look good. I don't think the five-hole is a good place for him, mentally.

Agree

I also don't think he'll see as many good pitches to hit compared to batting 2nd.

I agree

I've always wanted him in the 2 hole, mainly for the protection he'll get there out of the big 345. It just makes too much sense!

I also agree with you that he might not be comftorable at 5

I agree, too.

The No. 2 spot is a better place in the lineup for Dome to get acclimated to Major League baseball. There, he can focus on fundamental hitting and getting on base instead of feeling like he has to swing for the fences.

I couldn't agree more, BUT

I think some of us are forgetting that it's gonna take this guy some time to adapt to a different kind of baseball. Mentally (from what I've heard), this guy is as strong as they come, so I don't think hitting 5th is what's effecting him, especially in ST where I'm sure even he knows the #'s don't mean anything. I just think he needs time to acclimate himself a little more to a different kind of pitching and a whole new culture.

Ichiro

didn't his numbers stink his first spring training?

I'm reading now..

that i just got out of my car that had the XM hook-up.
Thanks for the updates.

base hit for anderson

pop-up

two outs.

whaaaa

What was that radio silence about? Did Ronnie say he wasn't OK? My radio reception stinks here at work.

ground-out

to Theriot.

3 outs.

Fukodome

He will be fine. He will take a lot of walks when games start to count.

Hang on

Did Pat just say that he and Ron are going to talk about what kind of songs pump them up?

Ron likes Stairway to Heaven

??????????

i think they're talking about

the song to start games with.

Yep

Ron wants a rocker

Ron says he's "not a big Madonna guy."

Likes "Soul Man" and Jimmy Buffet.

Sounds like Pat

knows Buffet's entire back catalogue.

They both like Margaritaville...

DeRosa strikes out

Vasques has struck out 3 in a row(?)

1 out.

Soto grounds out

2 outs.

Uribe loses the ball in the sun

Pie on at first.

Margaritaville?

come on Ronnie....

Lilly

grounds out. inning over.

ha they want to play cheesburger in paradise

when prince comes to bat

Ron Santo

isn't a "big Madonna person."

I'm shocked.

phat

maybe he hasn't heard

her later catalogue. After Evita, she changed her style, you know.

Santo's lying...

...I saw him at Smart Bar after a night game a couple years ago, and he was absolutely cutting up the dance floor to a remix of "Ray of Light."

It's no longer Triple A Insurance?

Geico is more scrappy.

:P

flyout to RF

Dome catches it. 1 out.

Fontenot

Soriano

Hey, Ron's mike...

where's the game?

I HATE

how XM doesn't have all the channels online. Am I supposed to get 2 corndogs and a coke and go sit in my car in the garage? gezzz

I recommend getting an Inno

I love mine! It's one of the walk-man style XM radios.

Ok, it's back...

Lee flies out, nearly a HR. Three outs.

Almost a homerun for Lee

Clempton

ground-rule double.

Kreedy to third, I think.

leadoff walk to crede

Ronnnnn haha

Just said "I've never had back problems, I'm sooo fortunate."

Now thats a great attitude if I ever heard one.

Number 10 was my childhood hero...

...and now when I'm an adult and see how Ron gets up every day with such happiness and exuberance--even after countless medical issues--I am greatly humbled. I bought the DVD of the "This Old Cub" his son made of him, and got the T-shirt too :-)

Ronnie will always be my hero.

Single for Anderson

2-0 WhiteSox.

All these flyballs...

..are killing Lilly. Bummer.

Vasquez bunts

Anderson to 2nd.

Dome

turns an infield hit into a double!

DeRo

Are Ron and Pat losing it?

yes

these guys are losing it. Quite entertaining.

Soto

These guys

Pat said

"A little hairy ladybug."

good greif.

Dye flies out

1 out.

2 outs

don't know where it came from.

Pie catches a fly for the third out.

You

were distracted by Pat talking about how he likes real mail and he likes getting it in a post office haha

or something.

I'm also catching up on a month's of web-comics while I listen... :P

Pie flies out

1 out.

Good swing, tho.

Ronnie

just said he "wasn't as erect" as earlier.

I HEARD TAHT! haha

Lilly

flies out. 2 outs.

talkin bout Season Ticket

Al getting a plug.

Didn't mention Al

Yes he did

I didnt hear it

I heard every name but Al's

I heard "Bruce Miles", Rob Glowacki" "George Castle" and "Al Yellon"

i heard that too

I know!

What gives?

I didn't hear his name.

They're talking about Season Ticket!

Pat read it cover to cover

and ron just started it

Might be done by game 160

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ron just started.

Fonty strikes out

Three outs.

wonder if Al went up to the booth

and slapped a twenty on Pat to plug the book! ;-)

and he picked it up at the post office :P

Anderson

Out three

to Lee

three outs

didn't see how. Second 1-2-3 inning in a row.

Soriano

strikes out. I think on three pitches.

yea

I think he swung at all 3 too

Question

I can only afford to go to a couple games this year. I really want to go to one in the Brewer's series, but will I just freeze my arse off? I guess I should wait until May? Thoughts?

Unless

you can go to opening day. Thats tough to pass up.

it

Gets real cold at night sitting in Wrigley. Wait so you can go when its nice and the ivy will be in full effect.

I've been to quite a few games

but I want to pick my spots this year. But I don't want to wait!!!!!! I wish it would warm up!!!

Triple for Lee!

Aram

DOUBLE! Lee scores!

4-1 Cubs!

Did Ronnie

call someone or some place a 'toilet bowl'?

Old Olympic Stadium

ohhhhh

yea that place was a toilet haha

Fuku walks

2 on, one out.

Eric Patterson in for DeRosa.

WHAT!!!

PH'ing for the self proclaimed best hitter on the team! Thats crazy! hahaha

EPat

swings on the first pitch. Fuku out at second, FC. Two outs.

Soto -- DOUBLE

hits it off the CF fence. 2 runs score! 4-3 WS!

Pie lines one into center

TIE GAME!

sweet pie!!!

rbi single

Pitching change for the WS

knocked him out of the game. :D

Wow. I walked away and missed all four runs!

Ward in for Lilly

Pie may steal.

There's the offensive firepower

we've all been waiting for

Ward grounds out

but hey.

1) Pie came through
2) Fukudome got a good hit
3) Lee got a good hit
4) Aram got a good hit
5) Tie game. All in all, not bad.

A no decision for Lilly

No surprise to see Javy Zasquez is

still unable, at this point in his career, to get out of the middle innings unscathed. It's kind of bizarre, really.

Anderson

flies out to Dome. 1-2-3 inning with two Ks.

Nice inning for Woody!

7th Inning Stretch!

Sing it, Cubs fans!

This is an odd audio of take me out to the ballgame

Rick Morrissey,

Mr. Wood at the In Your Face department would like to see you

Pitching change for the WS

Soriano strikes out

Fonty caught stealing.

How did Fontentot

get on?

I don't know.

Doesn't matter now

:(

Lee

strikes out.

3 outs.

Thank you very much Mr Santo

Ron getting hounded for autographs in the booth between inning, as he and Pat were having a water cooler discussion about March Madness...

Howry in

to start the 8th.

I could go for a Whooper...

Binoculars

sure, Ronny. You just bring them for the game...

So is Pat saying

that Ron is a dirty old man?

No whats this directions tuff? hahaha

Ronnie has

completely lost concentration after being called out for having booby binocs

LOL hooters binocs

I spend a lot of time in Huntington Beach as well as Phoenix and I've been busted many times on the beach with my "Hooter binocs". Checking out the scenery though is a very popular sport there though.

I guess that does make me a dirty middled aged man.

And

it'd be tough for you to say you have the binocs so you can see the pitchers hahaha That was Ronnies excuse.

LOL that's true

The key is that you have to ALWAYS be looking towards the water (alot of people have binoculars for moral and ethical reasons like keeping an eye on their kids) and never, NEVER follow them back to their towel, no matter how superior the species.

Ronnie BUSTED

with his hooter binocs haha

Someone get a map!

Creedy

singles.

still one out.

SERIOUSLY

whos actually listening ot the game anymore. I hope Ronnie doesnt end up in a ditch with his directions . These 2 are radio gold hahaha

Howry hits the batter

two on, still one out.

batter pops up

Soto catches in foul territory. 2 on, 2 outs.

Pie makes a tough catch!

3 outs

Another Pitching Change for the WS

Bobby Jenks?

Aram

fliest out.

one out.

Fukudome singles

What inning is it?

Like Al said, it's 90 out here and it's got to be one of the warmest ST games for the Cubs ever.

single for dome!

next batter (EPat?)

lines out. two outs. Soto up.

Soto walks

2 on 2 outs.

Pie strikes out

and loses his bat.

Inning over.

Why are you booing?

n/t

Becuase Clemson

lost yesterday.

because Pie struck out to end the inning

Hart comes out to pitch

maybe a little bit of redemption here...

Why are you booing?

n/t

Becuase Duke

lost today.

I figured it was because

Pie struck out. But then I figured that you wouldnt boo the guy who tied the game.

I'm

boo'ing becuase my brackets are trash.

My brackets got a boost today

as WVA, one of my Final 4 teams, thrashed Duke.

first batter pops up

to Soriano.

1 out

2nd batter

flies out to Lee.

2 out.

Uribe hits it hard

Home-run. WS lead 5-4

you can waiver that one good-bye...

Hart may be a little rattled.

Konerke almost got a monster hit there...

Konerke

grounds out to Patterson. End of the inning.

5-4 WS

anyone know the line on Hart?

Boone Logan

in to pitch for the WS

Cedeno leads off. Baseball IQ just POURS off this guy. Like water off a duck's back.

But in his defense... he just hit a single and legged it out into a double.

base hit for ronny!

is it Boone Logan or Logan Boone? ;)

I wish

Bob Gibson were around for Uribe to do that ridiculous peek-a-boo thing he does when he hits homeruns. Gibby would put an end to that foolishness with a little brushback action.

Sue's favorite in to hit

Murton having a good at-bat, he walks. WILD PITCH! Cedeno to third!

My favorite too

you're just a sucker for his hair.

and his dreamy eyes

HAHA!

Grody to the max!

Ronny getting picked off

in 5...4..3..2...

Ball four was a wild pitch!

1st and third

Santo has left for teh day

Soriano hitting...

Santo left early so he could get to Peoria in time tomorrow haha

Soriano

hits a long one, Dye catches it, Cedeno tags and scores, 5-5 tie game!

Guillen takes Logan out

pitching change.

I find it very odd that Santo gets to leave early. And it leaves Pat in the position of having to constantly talk to himself...

Kinda like Vin Scully

Tie game!

Lets go DLee!

Cedeno knows how to tag up

Color me impressed.

he got all the way around the bases

without getting tagged out ONCE.

When he got to home plate

I wonder if he stood there for a awile not knowing what to do next.

He probably just kept going.

he just wanted his lollypop...

surprised he didn't overslide home plate

Actually he prob run to first

trying to circle the bases again til the coaches told him to go to the dugout.

DLee

to bat, facing Mike MacDoogle, Aye and begorrah...

lol

"Murton not an advertursome runner..."

true

but a smart one

Lee walks

now it's time for the Hoff POWER!

How die hard are Cub fans, seriosly

This is a meaningless ST game and the game thread will probably be over 300!

Cheers Cub fans! 9 more days!

Cant wait til 31st

this is probably my fault...

doing the play by play and all... :P

This auto flash is great though

I hope we can keep it as big a secret as we can, because come regular season, every Cub fan will be here for the game threads.

so far the servers have seemed up for it

although I'm going to refrain from estimating response time in October.

i love it, much appreciated

I can watch the NCAA games and follow your play by play...

appreciate the commentary

I can't get wgn radio right now and won't pay for gameday audio in the interim

Surprised about the servers too

and it is only ST but it's been relatively smooth especially considering all the avatars.

THese game threads are more like a chat room than a message board, which is cool and dare I say this auto flash is REVOLUTIONARY!!!. The other boards need to upgrade to do this, because like I said, every cub fan will be here and that's not really a good thing. No more refreshing every 3 seconds.

took me some time to get used to it

and the entire page has glitched for me at least once, but I'm really likeing it.

yep

Once it gets around 300 comments things get a little flakey. But I have no issues with how things are working.

ball four to lee

Hoffpauer hits into

a double play. Game tied, inning over.

And they're going to extra inning...

Eyre in to pitch

first batter

grounds out to third. One out.

Creedy

singles, fan interference = a double. Still one out.

Ozzies son in the game

WS up 6-5

on another base hit. Missed who the batter is.

It's only ST it's only ST it's only ST

Eyre walks Anderson

two on, one out.

3-0 now.

Eyre not in a whole lot of control at the moment...

friggen Eyre

wtf. I can understand pitchers like Hill struggling in AZ but there really is no excuse for Eyre to be. Atleast not THE ENTIRE SPRING TRAINING. He better get his szit straight by next week.

Eyre

gives me heartburn, guaranteed

Ground Rule Double

One run scores, 2 on, one out. 7-5 WS.

I think

it's better Ron left. He'd be devistated.

i need spellcheck

Fields strikes out

2 outs.

8-5 ws

base hit, Hoffpauer couldn't make it.

three outs

but, really, at this point...

Eyre finally gets 3 outs

I have been listening

to the game, but was too busy playing games on pogo to follow along on here. Too bad this game isn't panning out so well. It would have been exciting to be there today. 80 degrees, I would cut off a finger for that!

Do you play pogo pool?

I play Texas Hold 'em on Pogo too....last year I was at a final table to win a seat at the 2007 WSOP. After I lost with 2 pair to a river set, I needed a new keyboard, mouse and damn near new computer!!!

I play

chainfactor.com

My faves are

lottso, dice city rollers, pogo bowl, mahjong garden, makeover maddness..... really i try to play whatever is up for badges for the week. so now the truth is out, i spend waaaay too much time on the internet between BCB and pogo, lol

I think

mahjong garden is my favorite. I try to get the badges for the ones I know how to play.

I play games

on Pogo too.

Base-hit

for Dome!

Patterson walks

2 on, no outs.

is there always

extra innings in ST? Or is it a 'if both teams agree' thing.

they just said "10 innings only"

not always....the managers can call it...

Blanco gets a bloop single

bases loaded, 0 outs!

I wonder

if I just didnt notice before. But I swear Blanco came back from the minors last year with both arms covered in tattoos.

I thought he was like that all year.

pie grounds out

runner at home out. 1 out. bases loaded.

Cedeno batting

Good!

Hope he walks then they put Marquis in to run for him.

Please let the stupid man get on base.

MgGhee...

Fuld grounds out

so... that's it.

Tie game.

I feel very ambivalent about this. Pat seems ambivalent too. "It was fun!"

all that TYPING... for a TIE???

LOL for those of us not able to hear the game

Thank you Drewishdrewid and everyone else who updated us with what was happening in the game.

Al should go bonk that

guy on the head that grabbed Creede's ball. Didn't that single turned double end up scoring?

It's Spring Training for the fans too

He was just getting in mid season form for his outings at Wrigley this year.

actually, if it han't been ruled a GR double

it probably would have scored MORE than one run. So, that guy actually helped us tie the game. He's the anti-Bartman. :P

I thought that was the second GRD that would have scored more. Well if it helped then Al should give the guy a copy of Wrigley Season Ticket 2008!

Fly it!

that is hillarious!!!

I'm no santoswoodenleg

but I try... :P

BWWAAAHAHAAHAHAHAH

Thats funny ___ !

it's official

I love Opie Weasley.

I'm a pretty big fan too

Are they still gonna play or are they calling the game tied after 10 innings?

They called it

Bah!

Bologna.

I want a victory.

Nice job today, Woody. Make that idiot, Mariotti, eat his words.

yes

that would be great

Wish I

could have seen this game. Matt had a nice hit huh?

Oh yea!

1 walk and then a hit to tie the game.

he did!

he raised his boyishly tousled head, and swung his muscled arms while narrowing his dreamy eyes and hit the ball with the bat!

swoon! :P

LOL!!

I feel like crap today and you made me laugh so thanks for the laugh. :-)
