both my teams winning and playing well. i have a fridge full of beer and havent had one. i phoned in sick today so i better make it tomorrow but will make up for it saturday if there is a repeat performance from both teams. there could be some jager bombs in there too!
These guys can win pretty and win ugly. Win with Lee hitting and win with Lee in a slump. Win with pitching and win with hitting. That adds up to a lot of wins.
Well Rich Hill stunk up the joint to begin with...
...Lieber came in and bailed him out.
Lee had the first two RBIs.
Fontenot went yard.
Soto also went deep, plus a couple doubles and a single.
Somebody found the parrot back behind the bullpen with a knife sticking out of its back. No suspects yet, but Keystone has this sneaky smirk going...
I assure you I was pulling for the hawks. My coworker claims to be the buggest season ticket holder fan of all time. And he might be becuase I've sat with him and Pat Kane's parents use 2 of his seats becuase they hate the ones the hawks gave them.
I was pulling for the hawks for the simple fact they'd be playingthe wings 1st round and I could go see the wings play here becuase no way i'm driving to detroit. haha
why Bettman hasn't made something official yet. I would love a triple-header at Wrigley: Wolves-Admirals, Badgers-Irish, and Hawks-Wings. That would be amazing!
I'm just wondering why Bettman keeps dodging the question when he's asked. I think if they do it once a year, that would be cool. Heck, move the all-star game outside if teams don't want to play a game outside, with the same AHL and College game before that.
love to see an outdoor game once a year. I thought they were saying not next season but the season after it would be Detroit vs Chicago. If I was commisioner I'd move the benches to opposite sides again and play some more outdoor games long as the outdoor game is safe for the players. (we all know moving the benches back to opposite sides isnt safe, more fights fights fights!)
the one thing about more outdoor games is that each outdoor game makes it less special.
Another thing I really would like to see is a Beanpot-esq tournament at the UC. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan St, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. I know, that's 6 teams, but which two would you leave out? I think something like that would be huge!
that would be cool. the Pen's didn't get the full deal since they didn't host. I'd do that in a few years, after all the Original Six teams have their shot
the spaghetti comes from the film makers, not the location. Italian filmmakers exploiting the greed of Americans and their addiction to 'westerns'. Well done.
Man, what a weird game that was. Lots of unexpected offense, while the three-five spots didn't do much at the plate.
Hill sure was erratic, but Leiber looked very solid in long-relief. I am glad he earned the victory. I missed the bottom of the 8th and the 9th, so I guess I'll have to read about those later. Since the Pirates didn't score, I am guessing Howry didn't get in the game. :-P
Great job on the sweep, Cubs! Hopefully there is a game tomorrow.
Good job Lieber, Soto, Fontenot and i was very very impressed with soriano's run in the 1st. He ran like a bat out of hell and almost singlehandedly manufactured that run. Impressive.
The Cubs are 2-0 against left-handed starters, and will face two more this weekend in Philadelphia, as Cole Hamels and Jamie Moyer start Saturday and Sunday. The team is batting .300 against lefties, compared to .245 against right-handers.
Hendry's worked hard to find good hitters against lefties.
Jon Lieber really saved the Cubs last night with 4+ innings of scoreless relief work. Even Rich Hill was able to pitch a scoreless second and third, when it looked like he was going to get knocked out in the first inning. The Pittsburgh Pirates have more trouble getting fan support than that so-called NBA team, the Memphis Grizzlies. When an MLB team has 8 straight seasons not ever winning more than 75 games, that can lead to crowds of less than 10,000. Thank God, the Cubs have actually been in playoff contention late in September four times this decade (2001, 2003, 2004, 2007).
what do you want us to do?

Rich hill didn't look so good... only lasted 3 innings

Jon Lieber : solid

Lee has 2 RBI

Soto 4-5 and Lieber pitched 5 innings of relief
JB 23 - April 10, 2008
Soto's 4-5
with a home run. Lieber came in for Hill and pitched 5 solid innings of shutout ball. hE just got lifted for Howry.

Thx guys
Appreciate that litte effort you put in. Always good to have u guys around :p

Its alittle exciting
Cause you know Aram and Soriano will come around.
With these other guys doing so much itll be quite a team, Oh how much our cubbies have grown up.
Rudey - April 10, 2008
Well Rich Hill stunk up the joint to begin with...
...Lieber came in and bailed him out.
Lee had the first two RBIs.
Fontenot went yard.
Soto also went deep, plus a couple doubles and a single.
Somebody found the parrot back behind the bullpen with a knife sticking out of its back. No suspects yet, but Keystone has this sneaky smirk going...

Keystone80435 - April 10, 2008
well,
being a hawks fan, I just want some exciting hockey! I don't really care, as long as NY and NJ are gone as soon as possible.
stadiumguru - April 10, 2008
A hawks fan?
I assure you I was pulling for the hawks. My coworker claims to be the buggest season ticket holder fan of all time. And he might be becuase I've sat with him and Pat Kane's parents use 2 of his seats becuase they hate the ones the hawks gave them.
I was pulling for the hawks for the simple fact they'd be playingthe wings 1st round and I could go see the wings play here becuase no way i'm driving to detroit. haha
Keystone80435 - April 10, 2008
haha
I made the drive to Detroit 2 weeks ago...not fun. Hopefully the Hawks and Wings will play many times in the playoffs in the next few years!

Keystone80435 - April 10, 2008
I'm still confused as to why
they arent playing at soldier field.
Keystone80435 - April 10, 2008
I'm still confused
why Bettman hasn't made something official yet. I would love a triple-header at Wrigley: Wolves-Admirals, Badgers-Irish, and Hawks-Wings. That would be amazing!
stadiumguru - April 10, 2008
That would be insane. I dont think anything is official becuase I dont think any of the venues have agreed. thats just a guess.
Keystone80435 - April 10, 2008
Nothing is official
I'm just wondering why Bettman keeps dodging the question when he's asked. I think if they do it once a year, that would be cool. Heck, move the all-star game outside if teams don't want to play a game outside, with the same AHL and College game before that.
stadiumguru - April 10, 2008
I'd
love to see an outdoor game once a year.
Keystone80435 - April 10, 2008
yeah,
the one thing about more outdoor games is that each outdoor game makes it less special.
Another thing I really would like to see is a Beanpot-esq tournament at the UC. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan St, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. I know, that's 6 teams, but which two would you leave out? I think something like that would be huge!
stadiumguru - April 10, 2008
.
I know the pens just played outside, but you have agree;
Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia at penn state would be awesome.
GarlicFryCubFan - April 10, 2008
yeah,
that would be cool. the Pen's didn't get the full deal since they didn't host. I'd do that in a few years, after all the Original Six teams have their shot

A weird one, but a W is a W (deep, huh?)

Lieber Brilliant, Pirates Fans Have Given Up
Jon Lieber really saved the Cubs last night with 4+ innings of scoreless relief work.
