Gary, did you catch the embarrassment this morning?
I think Spurs are deffo looking forward to next season. You’d think with all of the cuts rumored that the boys would actually play well though to save their job.
That was an ugly performance against a team in danger of relegation. Why is Ramos playing Keane so deep lately? He and Berbs work too well together for that. Ramos seems to favor Lennon, because of his disruptive speed, but he is a poor crosser (though he crossed nicely to Berbs for the score today) and doesn’t seem to have the chemistry with Berbs that Keano has.
Loss could have something to do with the wearing of my Cavan County Gaelic football jersey today. Just sayin.
I agree, I don’t get dropping Robbie like that. He’s too “scrappy” around goal to do that (to use a term from this site). My patience for Lennon is running thin as well. What’s the right Cubs parallel for him? Corey Patterson?
New GK Hutton Daws Woody Bale RW: New Hudd New CM with some creativity LW: Jenas/Steed/New (Getting Jenas out of the middle might help him) Berbs Keane
Valencia is playing Getafe on Telemundo. Villa just had an incredible run on goal, but stopped by an equally incredible save by Getafe’s keeper. He’d look good flying around The Lane…
Scott Carson, the keeper for Aston Villa is on loan from Liverpool, but no likely to get a full-time gig there. Perhaps he should be a target. He’s a good young keeper.
Totally agree. Robbo’s been Spurs for a while now, but he’s hurting this team. Third in the PL in scoring, but giving up way to many on the back end. Spurs can’t seem to play with the advantage.
and Chimbonda (who’s definitely outta here. What a disappointing transfer) missing didn’t help anything. If Jenas had taken a moment to set himself instead of blasting the ball off-balanced, Spurs might’ve taken all three points.
I am thrilled that the 2008 version of the Cubs seems to really be working counts and grinding out big pitch counts on the opposition. This is great to see!!
It seems like Lou has finally got this team away from the bad ways of Dusty-ball.
I stay across the river in downtown near the Theater District. It’s nice. Sometimes I visit Carnegie Mellon on business … it seems nice there also. What’s so bad about it?
Seriously, if this isn’t the type of game to get your guys some confidence, what is?
I think we all realize Murton’s not going to be an everyday player for this team. I understand the “why call Matty up if you’re not going to play him,” but come on. It was Pie time there.

Bob Walk cannot stop complaining about the space given to them in a broadcast booth. He is also complaining about the window in front of them. They keep showing the CSN Chicago booth and apparently feel they deserve the same size booth.
Fun match. Just ended. Valencia takes it 3-1. Morientes stripped off his shirt and ran the length of the pitch when he scored. That type of display in the PL might earn him a couple of aching shins…
how horrible it is taking the letters off the back of a jersey. In 7 innings I’ve gotten 2 of 5 off. And it basically ruined the jersey. You can totally see the old stitch holes. I’ll have to duct tape JOHNSON over the mess haha
I’ve been wondering what to do with my Prior jersey. I just don’t think I want to go through the effort of transforming into a Kevin Hart jersey. I’m also pretty sure I don’t want a Kevin Hart jersey
I just got home and went to Yahoo and I saw in the box score that Ward was in for Lee and I just assumed that Lou was giving Daryle ab’s in a blowout, but then I noticed that “lee left with an undisclosed injury”???
back in the day, that was widely accepted and expected. It would be one thing if he hit him, but a little chin music (or back of the head music) is necessary from time to time
He always seems drunk and disoriented. But last year when they clinched and they interviewed him in the clubhouse, buzzed, he was actually more coherent!
He can now go have a nice Seder dinner. Seriously as far as I can tell he is the only one of the dozen or so Jewish players who is at least moderately observant.
Al ( and Howard as you are lurking somewhere) have a nice Seder too. Being a very bad Jew I will probably be going out for Indian food tonight.

What's encouraging me this year so far is...
that we’re able, for the most part, to beat the bad teams. Seemed like the few good Cub teams over the years would always lose to the terrible teams.

why is derrick lee

It seems that way anyway. Pat and Ron are not alarmed and Yahoo doesn’t say anything at all about it.

northsider - April 19, 2008
Not even
I thought it would be a good idea to put HOBBS on a #9 Cubs pinstripe jersey…....drunk stupidity.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
RE: Let me just tell you
I’ve been wondering what to do with my Prior jersey. I just don’t think I want to go through the effort of transforming into a Kevin Hart jersey. I’m also pretty sure I don’t want a Kevin Hart jersey
Jobu - April 19, 2008
Not sure there is much to do
The other problem I have is that the red and blue stiching bled into the white on the jersey. I should have just left it and taken the punishment.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
I propose a screening process for anyone sitting behind home plate.
I want to watch the game, not you idiots!
northsider - April 19, 2008
no kidding...its like they screen and try to get morons back there...
JB 23 - April 19, 2008
We have the technology
to simply green-screen in a fake crowd behind the plate.
BlueSox - April 19, 2008
I agree
being an ass is one thing. Being an ass every pitch is another. OK WE SEE YOU.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
put it into a bill...
I’ll sign it
chi-townbleacherbum - April 19, 2008
Lee's out with an injury?
I just got home and went to Yahoo and I saw in the box score that Ward was in for Lee and I just assumed that Lou was giving Daryle ab’s in a blowout, but then I noticed that “lee left with an undisclosed injury”???
whaha?
lemon20pie - April 19, 2008
Sanchez stepped on his foot.
Probably precautionary.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
Whew....thanks
Visions of 2006 flashed before my eyes!
lemon20pie - April 19, 2008
Sanchez stepped on his foot rounding first base....
...I am sure it was precautionary / Cubs up 7-1 at the time….
JB 23 - April 19, 2008
I sure freaking hope so
Sigh
Fukumania - April 19, 2008
Is Pink Hat
there today?
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
Note.
Just two guys who keep standing up and waving. They’re wearing the kanji headbands.
northsider - April 19, 2008
Oh geez...
hope that dude with the bad sport coats that’s always on Channel 7 news doesn’t start showing up…
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
Note
they are waving an dbeing asses while the Cubs pitcher is on the mound.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
If I was Hart
I would “accidentally” send my best fastball to strike right in front of their faces on the screen.
northsider - April 19, 2008
That I'd like to see
make them spill their beers
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
STL lost...3-0 to the wonderful Giants.
life is good
chi-townbleacherbum - April 19, 2008

JB 23 - April 19, 2008
3-0???
When Lincecum’s pitching, miracles can happen.
northsider - April 19, 2008
Hendry should fire up the computer
and trade for him. Whaddya say, Cedeno, Gallagher, and Pie oughta do it right?? Trades are easy!
northsider - April 19, 2008
I support this trade
3 for 1! math is in SF’s favor!
grifdog - April 19, 2008
Phil Rogers would say so...
JB 23 - April 19, 2008
SF rates a +2!!
according to the Best System Ever.
northsider - April 19, 2008
lol
I was only kidding about 3 for 1 being in SF’s favor. I didn’t know Rogers actually believes it. Expertly played Phil.
grifdog - April 19, 2008
Great
now theres 3 of them.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
make that 4 of them
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
bottom 9 in cincy
weeks K’s with 2 on, game tied 3-3
grifdog - April 19, 2008
Maybe Corey will hit a walk-off HR
that won’t clog any bases.
zevkalman - April 19, 2008
Lee left with an injury
GOD **
Fukumania - April 19, 2008
Marty says....
Corey patterson is 0 for 4 today. Another solid outing
chi-townbleacherbum - April 19, 2008
LOL
Solidly bad.
BlueSox - April 19, 2008
perhaps its the fault of Cubs fans?
JB 23 - April 19, 2008
Great sig
And i’m sure you’re right. We need to stop playing for him.
Fukumania - April 19, 2008
If it weren't for horrible Cubs fans and how we treated him he'd probably be hitting .555.
northsider - April 19, 2008
true dat
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
What is Lee's undisclosed injury????
This could really suck if it is true!!!!
razzpunk - April 19, 2008
Cottage cheese ass.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
LMFAO!
Now I need to find a way to get coffee off a keyboard.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
HAHAHA
In the same category as anal fissure
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
Who was that?
Matzui maybe it was that had that….maybe Marty Brennaman too..
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008

both
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
Marty still has it
So does poor Kevin:

northsider - April 19, 2008
BWAHAHAHA
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
Didn't Prior
have to go on the DL for that once? ;)
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
No
“The Employee” went on the DL becuase of his period.
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
LMAO..
Classic..
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
We don't know.
I’m sure they will say after the game.
sue369 - April 19, 2008
very minor....sanchez stepped on his foot rounding first base.
JB 23 - April 19, 2008
Acute case of jealousy.
Dempster won the clubhouse wrestling match and thus the chance to hug Marisa.
northsider - April 19, 2008
just in case anyone is interested
But Clay Rapada former cub, has had a decent start to the year.

fischisgod - April 19, 2008
Getting your foot stepped on takes you out of a game????
I am mainly freaking because DLee is on my fantasy team…..wanted some more hits from him….better not be any more serious…..
razzpunk - April 19, 2008
Great reason
Not because it would matter to “your” team.
Fukumania - April 19, 2008
Yeah it matters to my team and my fantasy team....but I just expect the worst to happen to the Cubs
razzpunk - April 19, 2008
This is why I don't play fantasy.
northsider - April 19, 2008
Brewers and Cincy into extra innings...

Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
I want to see a Farnsy-vs-Manny brawl.
That would be amazing.
northsider - April 19, 2008
didnt
farnsy do some boxing or beat up a telephone pole or something? I remember him doing something violent in th epast
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
He beat the living hell out of Paul Wilson,
maybe that’s waht your were thinking of.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
I think is was a fan in the dugout.
The kind that pushes air, not the human kind.
BlueSox - April 19, 2008

Rev Gunia - April 19, 2008
Kyle Farnsworth
gary varsho - April 19, 2008

Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008

Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
Freebird Freebird!!
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
I had free tickets. And it was actually pretty damn fun haha the crowd was hilarious
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
that's garbage...
back in the day, that was widely accepted and expected. It would be one thing if he hit him, but a little chin music (or back of the head music) is necessary from time to time
chi-townbleacherbum - April 19, 2008
Santo thinks so, too.
He doesn’t think you should suspend a guy if he doesn’t even hit anybody.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
Now the losers
behind home plate are flashing gang signs
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
Classy.
northsider - April 19, 2008
Idiots.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008

how Theriot is the worst hitter in Cubs history. How’s he holding up?
Reddevil - April 19, 2008

Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008

Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008

or do y’all think he should replace a regular (Theriot?)
zevkalman - April 19, 2008
Both
might be possibilities
Keystone80435 - April 19, 2008
Yes.
Should’ve replaced Theriot long ago.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008

wtf?
northsider - April 19, 2008
That guy.
I swear he goes looking for the cameras after the game.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
Maybe Kerry

sue369 - April 19, 2008

Chevy player of the game...
Marquis..
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
false.
Obviously it’s Theriot. Every time he DOESN’T go 0-for-4 with 2 scrappy K’s, he gets the POTG and interviewed.
northsider - April 19, 2008
So true...
his act is starting to get old very very fast….
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
These am/pm commercials.
Does anyone else think they ripped off The Offspring’s “Hit That” for the song?
northsider - April 19, 2008

sue369 - April 19, 2008
that's what i heard

All that head bobbing...
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
Lou's press conferences are funny....
he seems lost for words most time….lots of long drawn out breaths…licks the inside of his mouth….deep exhalations…...words drip out…...
razzpunk - April 19, 2008
haha, agree
He always seems drunk and disoriented. But last year when they clinched and they interviewed him in the clubhouse, buzzed, he was actually more coherent!
northsider - April 19, 2008

n/t
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
Marquis....Hill......maybe coming around now....
feeling good about the Cubs…..now if Lilly can just bulldog up we will be ready to roll….Ronnie Woo Woo almost drowned out Lou in the presser….
razzpunk - April 19, 2008
I heard that.
How does he even get inside?
sue369 - April 19, 2008

gary varsho - April 19, 2008
Monroe for us last year...
.204 .291 .347
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
Yuck.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
A waste of space for us..
last year….wasn’t he brought in to kill left handed pitching? haha..
Bump Bailey - April 19, 2008
He does hit LHP well,
hitting them at a .270/.317/.488/.805 clip for his career, but he was awful for the Cubs.
gary varsho - April 19, 2008
Did someone say they hope Dempster can keep it up tomorrow?
After that ceremonial first pitch yesterday…. 3 million guys in cub nation as well as Dempster will have no prob keeping it up. Sorry, had to say it.

He can now go have a nice Seder dinner. Seriously as far as I can tell
he is the only one of the dozen or so Jewish players who is at least
moderately observant.
Al ( and Howard as you are lurking somewhere) have a nice Seder too.
Being a very bad Jew I will probably be going out for Indian food tonight.
