for those of you who, like me, watch the wgn and national games on tv and the rest on mlb.tv – the mlb.tv feed is not blacked out – and it’s len and bob instead of this moronic crap they are showing on espn.
but to me it’s much better to watch the game 20 seconds after the espn feed than to watch the espn feed. if i turn off espn there is no noticable delay…
guess I should be happy that I didnt go out to watch it and am home listening to Pat and Ron. Plus no annoying guest b/c Ron is doing the 7th inning stetch
“Carlos Zambrano held the Brewers to two runs over six innings and fanned nine in a victory on Wednesday. He also went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate and he failed to send any catchers to the hospital, making this a fine day all-around”
from a starting catcher on a playoff team to getting beat down by your battery mate to be being misremembered by orel hershiser on a national broadcast
I was getting ready to say that we’re not gonna win every game by 10 runs, and championship teams win the close ones too. But screw it, let’s just win every game by 5 runs! I want a zero-save season for kerry
After what we went through with Woody and Prior, I can’t be happy about stuff like this. I want to beat the Brewers at their best, not with their ace on the DL.
I was in the wrong part of the house to come online, but once I heard that Sosa was coming in and not a lefty, I said out loud to an empty house: “Pie’s going to hit one out so I won’t get a save from Wood for my fantasy team tonight.”
It looked to me like they’re trying to get Pie’s swing to look at lot more like Fukodome’s, especially with that front foot. If Pie and Cedeno can both evolve into solid .265/.325/.375 hitters this year, that would be an outstanding development.
i didn’t know that. was out of town this weekend. and, well, frankly….the gooners season is done. i’m just more ashamed that hleb would strike someone with an open fist. at least punch him, hleb!
haven’t seen much of barca this year. saw them score at will on celtic…but then again, they let celtic score quite a few, too. i don’t know. barca’s always got a shot, but man u seems pretty unstoppable right now.
felix pennsylvania with 2 nice takes, and then a pretty swing. and cedeno with some nice pitches fought off, then just a text book 2-strike swing on the single up the middle. barely even lifted his leg. sweet. especially on the heels of two really bad at bats by soto and derosa….
Duke, Snell, Sanchez, Nady… I wouldn’t mind any of them in a Cubs uniform, especially Snell and Sanchez. Sucks for Pittsburgh that they aren’t getting things clicking for the first month.
error reyes, aram beaned, fuku’s epic at bat single, Dero and Soto hacking with the near balk, Cedeno down 1-2 fouls off 3 pitches and lines a clutch single to center, they bring in Sosa, Pie takes two, and then rips a low fast ball for a 3 run dong.
We had the game live here in Australia on ESPN and I was going nuts during that 8th inning. PIE!!!! Still buzzing away and might watch the whole thing again tonight when the replay is on.
A lot of tears flowing at ESPN…..half of BaseballTonight will be about Yankee pitching…..Love to see the “BEST 3B and SS” in the league cost the Mets a game…..Poor NY…. I never thought I would watch a game with the sound off and 12 string in hand….I hope the Cubs never are ESPN’s game again…HORRIBLE!!! Love to see Felix’ new swing!! Short and sweet…..
in the first Cubs/Cards series of the year, the Sunday game is the Sunday night game which means we get blessed with more ‘expert’ analysis from ESPN lifers Joe Morgan and Jon Miller. BTW the mute button is usually located underneath the #’s on most remotes. lol
Cubs leading 2-0
But if you’re watching ESPN it’s hard to tell there’s a game going on.
sanantonecub - April 21, 2008
No kidding.
STILL talking about Joba and Hank.
Srsly…Not like John Maine’s starting to struggle or anything. No storylines to talk about with D-Lee up with 2 out.
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
is there a game going on?
sorry to interrupt orel and steve’s babbling about joba chamberlain with this pesky baseball game
grifdog - April 21, 2008
Here comes D Lee.
2 outs, man on first.
bluebythebook - April 21, 2008

Nice to see. Hopefully that knocks the gremlin off his back.
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
LOVE IT!!
How excited was Felix?? And Lou??
iluvryno - April 21, 2008
The Lou Replay
That was the best part
VicVega - April 21, 2008
Felix was pumping both fists around first,
and Lou and Gerald Perry looked like they wanted to take a homer trot themselves. Great to see.
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
Cedeno with 2 RBI and Pie a 3-run Home run?
Are pigs flying outside as well?
NittanyCub - April 21, 2008

three blowouts in a row
this is just amazing. And its against the METS!
Chanman25 - April 21, 2008
on a side note,
I think mel kiper jr is dumb, the bills need to draft a big WR in the first round, not some dink cornerback
GarlicFryCubFan - April 21, 2008
Good to know.
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
"first ever homerun at wrigley field"?????

They've really just done an outstanding job tonight, true, knowledgable professionals
CubsBall2202 - April 21, 2008
Yes.

gary varsho - April 21, 2008
OMG
I just changed to ESPN for a sec to hear the NY guys and heard the idiots say that.

LPLancer23 - April 21, 2008
Jeez
Where were you ESPN? Oh, only watching Red Sox – Yankee games
VicVega - April 21, 2008
I wish he would fight Marty
Brenneman!
LT - April 21, 2008
Z is a rumbler
here is a quote i saved from last year
“Carlos Zambrano held the Brewers to two runs over six innings and fanned nine in a victory on Wednesday.
He also went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate and he failed to send any catchers to the hospital, making this a fine day all-around”
GarlicFryCubFan - April 21, 2008
man you talk about a fall from grace
from a starting catcher on a playoff team to getting beat down by your battery mate to be being misremembered by orel hershiser on a national broadcast
INWes44 - April 21, 2008
is it sad
that I can’t relax yet, knowing what happened against this team last season?
SpareRibMoon - April 21, 2008
one down.....
sanantonecub - April 21, 2008
Replayed that Pie HR
Smooth swing, not sure if it a sign of a better swing though. Low fastballs fit Felix’s swing. He did keep his head on it all the way though.
californiachicagoan - April 21, 2008
Marty Barrett was a lot better than...
Jerry Bako and Bruce Hill, IMO
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008

DAMN IT ESPN ANNOUNCERS, LEARN BASEBALL IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE A BASEBALL ANNOUNCER!!!! WHAT WORLD ARE YOU GUYS IN?
NittanyCub - April 21, 2008
They have to make a story out of everything,
even if it’s premised on misinformation or out and out lies.
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
Yup, cause they sure can't fill the time in a baseball game
, resulting in Yankees blather all game.
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
Did you know that they have won lots of World Series?
{vomit in mouth}
cubbybear - April 21, 2008
Wood

I was getting ready to say that we’re not gonna win every game by 10 runs, and championship teams win the close ones too. But screw it, let’s just win every game by 5 runs! I want a zero-save season for kerry

You might have to change that MVP to

Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
ben shits injured again
GarlicFryCubFan - April 21, 2008
lol
and I don’t think that was unintentional
Chanman25 - April 21, 2008
Whoa, Action Jackson,
Ben Sheets is pretty damn good. Sucks for the Brewers that he went down today, in my opinion at least
NittanyCub - April 21, 2008
Yeah.
After what we went through with Woody and Prior, I can’t be happy about stuff like this. I want to beat the Brewers at their best, not with their ace on the DL.
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
I'm actually not that picky
This franchise needs to win by any means necessary.
Jobu - April 21, 2008
It's a dark day for ESPN as a New York team suffers defeat

Oh YEA.
iluvryno - April 21, 2008

well I guess so
Chanman25 - April 21, 2008
the cubs sure did a good job unclogging those bases
GarlicFryCubFan - April 21, 2008

If the DBacks lose we have the best team in baseball to date… ...right?
mrtobby - April 21, 2008
it would be tied
Chanman25 - April 21, 2008
How professional is Kerry?
Nice to have a closer that is focused, whether a save situation or not.
Trusts his stuff, throws strikes. Lovin’ it.
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
Very good pt.
All business from Kerry
chi-townbleacherbum - April 21, 2008
this is the best baseball I have ever seen in April (or at all!)
since I first started watching baseball. This is great!
Chanman25 - April 21, 2008
I can't believe I called the Pie HR...
Invalid User - April 21, 2008
lets go for the sweep tomorrow

iluvryno - April 21, 2008
The Embassy in Chicago?
zevkalman - April 21, 2008
Anyone else still watching ESPN?
We thought our umps were bad tonight.
How about that call at first in the Nats-Braves game???
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
that was
one of the worst i’ve EVER seen. horrid.
billywan - April 21, 2008
2 steps.
I mean, Tim Donaghy bad.
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
Wow.
That wasn’t even close.
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
Speaking of refs
the gooners may lose Hleb for the remainder because he slapped someone during their match this past weekend. Typical gooner behavior.
(This is for you, billywan, I just saw you post!)
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
damn it!
i didn’t know that. was out of town this weekend. and, well, frankly….the gooners season is done. i’m just more ashamed that hleb would strike someone with an open fist. at least punch him, hleb!
billywan - April 21, 2008
Well played!
You really are a gooner! Yeah Spurs are pretty much in the same boat. Carling Cup wrapped up Europena play and they’ve kinda mailed it in since.
Think Barca’s got a shot against ManU?
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
i hope so
haven’t seen much of barca this year. saw them score at will on celtic…but then again, they let celtic score quite a few, too. i don’t know. barca’s always got a shot, but man u seems pretty unstoppable right now.
billywan - April 21, 2008
I'll be rooting for the 'pool tomorrow.
For some reason I can’t stand Barca, and I can’t bring myself to root for Man U. Chelsea is out of the question, barely worth mentioning.
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
PS, I bet Chelsea would love a "tin cup" now...
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
ordinarily
i’d be rooting for the pool as well. but they shouldn’t be here. i can’t get over how outplayed they were, yet somehow they won.
billywan - April 21, 2008
Slapping: such a scum attack.
I can’t think of a better adjective than this so, “What a sissy team”
Bildo1805 - April 21, 2008
Did Wood even pitch in the 9th?
Was there even a 9th inning? Jeeze that was quick
NittanyCub - April 21, 2008
No kidding.
top of the 8th and the top of the nith just flew!
gary varsho - April 21, 2008
nice win

ecbc - April 21, 2008
fantastic at bats from the kids...
felix pennsylvania with 2 nice takes, and then a pretty swing. and cedeno with some nice pitches fought off, then just a text book 2-strike swing on the single up the middle. barely even lifted his leg. sweet. especially on the heels of two really bad at bats by soto and derosa….
helluva game.

iluvryno - April 21, 2008
I really like some of their players
Duke, Snell, Sanchez, Nady… I wouldn’t mind any of them in a Cubs uniform, especially Snell and Sanchez. Sucks for Pittsburgh that they aren’t getting things clicking for the first month.
NittanyCub - April 21, 2008

u can debate who is worse if you have nothing else to laugh at 2nite
chi-townbleacherbum - April 21, 2008

Fishsticks

iluvryno - April 21, 2008
bottom 8
error reyes, aram beaned, fuku’s epic at bat single, Dero and Soto hacking with the near balk, Cedeno down 1-2 fouls off 3 pitches and lines a clutch single to center, they bring in Sosa, Pie takes two, and then rips a low fast ball for a 3 run dong.
God!!!!
californiachicagoan - April 21, 2008
Wow that was awesome
We had the game live here in Australia on ESPN and I was going nuts during that 8th inning.

Wow!!
Short and sweet…..
crazymountain - April 21, 2008
Then you won't like the fact that...
in the first Cubs/Cards series of the year, the Sunday game is the Sunday night game which means we get blessed with more ‘expert’ analysis from ESPN lifers Joe Morgan and Jon Miller. BTW the mute button is usually located underneath the #’s on most remotes. lol
