the organist should play “I’ve got no strings, to hold me down, to make me fret or make frown. I had strings, but now I’m free, there are no strings on me!”
Who knows what will happen, but the pitch count is the pitch count. Why on earth would you leave him in to try to get a win? This is just courting another injury!
Marquis vs. Sheets is a hell of a mismatch. Like to limit the damage and give the offense a shot, but you can’t feel that bad about losing this game. I do think we need a new scouting report on Corey Hart, however. That guy kills us. Oh, and Marquis is not a good pitcher.
Corey Hart is one of the most ugly players in the bigs....I think the ump blew the call..
at second because he was stunned by Hart’s butt ugly face…..he looks like a carny with leprosy…okay now that I got that out it is time for the ugly Brewer bullpen…
The approach at the plate has been outstanding we just need pitchers who can get hitters out. Still think lieber should have been in during the 4th or 5th inning, hope that doesn’t come back to haunt us
Frustrating, frustrating game.....so far this season the Brewers are pretty much...
eating us up…..after the last two weeks I guess I expected better….but maybe with Demps and Zambo going we can still win 2 of 3….but we need to make an early season statement soon or the BrewSlobs will be way confident…...grrrrrrrrr…......
I hate it when people start bitching and offer no insight to what’s being done wrong, what can be changed, etc. It’s because of bombers like you who give Cubs fans a bad reputation.
Im the most respectful Cubs public fan of all time, i dont even add to the “drinker” stereotype. im sorry I am dedicated to the cubs for life and I hate when they lose.
So plz tell me how im such a bad cubs fan and cant be JUST like YOU cause god knows my dream in life is to become a cubs fan who goes on a public website and tells people they cant be down about the team they love so much.
Its cubs fans like you who keep people from coming to a sight like this.
being respectable is not a precursor to being knowledgeable, or less irritating. And you top if off with trying to validate yourself by not being a drinker? Lord Almighty. And you want to be exactly like me? Dude, you don’t even know me. You have issues.
I bet if the Cubs win you’ll blaze this site to the high heavens, screaming that they’re the best team, like, ever.
When did i say i was knowledgable or not irritating? I just dont say how you can say how i give the cubs fan a bad rap? Do i believe in curses? Do i not watch the games? Do i sit in the bleachers drinking and screaming at opposing fans who love thier team? NO. Dont act like you know me either.
Did I say the cubs suck? Did i say i hate them? Did i say anything but it didnt even look like they cared?
I think we both need to agree that we dont know anything about the other so what the point of keeping this argument going? God knows I didnt come in here to argue to some guy ill never meet nor know.
Most of the Cubs’ pitchers act like they don’t know the importance of getting ahead. Every damn run seems like its because someone fell behind and had to come right over the plate. Also, Lou must have been hitting the Jack before the game. I don’t care if Marquis is a good hitting pitcher. With the bases loaded and two outs, when its clear that Marquis is just hanging around, how the hell do you let him hit. Every run is important.
Pointless celeb interviews with people who don't even care about the Cubs....
I could care less about Dawson’s Creek boy from Connecticut who is either a Yankee or Red Sox fan…..we are here for BASEBALL guys…..shut pretty boy up and talk about this rally we are gonna cook up and send hollywood joe back to the Creek!!!
it happens, but nothing chaps my hole more than a check swing. You’re a hitter. The only decision you go up to the plate and make is not to swing. You’re job is to hit, and the only decision to make is not to swing.
Lou believes if he has a set 7,8,9 over his dead body will they pitch in any other situation. A lot of good your setup man will do when you’re going to be losing.
I have one of these ‘magical’ Phiten necklaces and its cool but COME ON! Smith for the A’s has 6 of them on. He looks like a white Mr.T. When is MLB going to limit the Phiten neckwear to single digits. Its getting out of control.
You don’t win games giving up 10 runs! The pitching stinks period.
I hope this puts to rest all the silly World Series talk. This club has a lot that has to go right with their pitching before it can even smell the World Series, much less the playoffs.
I was on this site last year, and believed we could get to the World Series, only to see our usual lousy pitching blow another chance.
Of course the season is not over a whole lot of things happen in a marathon. But, we will not reach the goals we all want unless they either trade for, or bring someone up , who can get the job done.
...good defense and he seems to hit very well when he’s not at Petco. I’m not even sure that a Park Factor covers the difference here; Greene’s home-road splits are much broader than the average hitter, and it may be that Greene is affected more than most players by Petco. I’d love to see him in blue pinstripes.
I hate it when people think all Cubs fans are drunks and don’t care about baseball. And when you call people fat or gay you only add to that stereotype.
We knew going in to this season Marquis made the rotation due to Hendry`s stupidity! 21 million over 3 years! Gee, give me a blank check and turn me loose! He has to be held accountable for his free-spending.
I’m going back home for a little bit. It’s usually a barren wasteland when classes aren’t going on, but at least it’ll be quiet. Are you here for only the weekend?
Got to the TV w/ 2 out in the Bot 9th. Bummer. Just read that Sheets walked 7 guys, none of which scored. How does this happen?
Little rant: I take the Metra home and there were about 4 kids (looked like they were in their early 20’s; mind you, I’m 22) all decked out in Cubs gear who sat across from me. Of course, the first words out of my mouth were, ‘Did they win? Score?’ One yells out, Who Cares? I’m drunk. The rest laugh and I don’t get an answer. Even after they settled down, they admitted they didn’t know who was winning and that they left, coincidentally, after the 7th Inning Stretch. Needless to say, these are those ‘obnoxious’ fans Marty was bitchin’ about and also the ones that ruin it for the rest of us. But at the same time, it makes me that much more appreciative to know a site like BCB exists where I can carry a real and civil conversation w/ some of the best fans in the world, even if some of you still live at home in your parents basement.

We can still come back
The approach at the plate has been outstanding we just need pitchers who can get hitters out. Still think lieber should have been in during the 4th or 5th inning, hope that doesn’t come back to haunt us

You're not breaking any rules whatsoever
except for being annoying, that is.
I hate it when people start bitching and offer no insight to what’s being done wrong, what can be changed, etc. It’s because of bombers like you who give Cubs fans a bad reputation.
NittanyCub - April 29, 2008
Oh i give cubs fans a bad reputation?
Why because i complained On bleedcubbieblue.com?
Im the most respectful Cubs public fan of all time, i dont even add to the “drinker” stereotype. im sorry I am dedicated to the cubs for life and I hate when they lose.
So plz tell me how im such a bad cubs fan and cant be JUST like YOU cause god knows my dream in life is to become a cubs fan who goes on a public website and tells people they cant be down about the team they love so much.
Its cubs fans like you who keep people from coming to a sight like this.
Rudey - April 29, 2008
Unfortunately,
being respectable is not a precursor to being knowledgeable, or less irritating.
NittanyCub - April 29, 2008
Im sorry hypocrite?
Im the worst cubs fan?
You dont know anything bout me?
When did i say i was knowledgable or not irritating? I just dont say how you can say how i give the cubs fan a bad rap? Do i believe in curses? Do i not watch the games? Do i sit in the bleachers drinking and screaming at opposing fans who love thier team? NO. Dont act like you know me either.
Did I say the cubs suck? Did i say i hate them? Did i say anything but it didnt even look like they cared?
I think we both need to agree that we dont know anything about the other so what the point of keeping this argument going? God knows I didnt come in here to argue to some guy ill never meet nor know.

ARAM FOR MVP - April 29, 2008
Okay Demps and Z we need you to be rock solid for us the next two....
and let’s get some runs boys….would like to go to Busch feeling somewhat confident with the Cubby swagger…..
razzpunk - April 29, 2008
Sometimes I just scratch my head.

Canadian Cubs Fan - April 29, 2008
Because I think
Lou believes if he has a set 7,8,9 over his dead body will they pitch in any other situation. A lot of good your setup man will do when you’re going to be losing.
TCobb1911 - April 29, 2008
16 hits
not acceptable
eswan9 - April 29, 2008
Ok already
I have one of these ‘magical’ Phiten necklaces and its cool but COME ON! Smith for the A’s has 6 of them on. He looks like a white Mr.T. When is MLB going to limit the Phiten neckwear to single digits. Its getting out of control.

Crummy Cub Pitching
You don’t win games giving up 10 runs! The pitching stinks period.
I hope this puts to rest all the silly World Series talk. This club has a lot that has to go right with their pitching before it can even smell the World Series, much less the playoffs.
Mr W - April 29, 2008
Pitching stinks?
4th in the NL.

Linkety
Bildo1805 - April 29, 2008
Sure
You take away Zambrano, Dempster, and maybe Wood, then see what the era is.
I stand by it, Cub pitching, except for a few exceptions, stinks!!
Mr W - April 29, 2008
That statement...
is dumb. Sorry.
santoswoodenlegs - April 29, 2008
Sorry
The only dumb statement is the statement that believes you can win a pennant without good pitching.
Mr W - April 29, 2008
No, yours is dumber.
Quit now
NittanyCub - April 29, 2008
Why should I
Prove me wrong, name one team that has ever won a pennant or a World Series that did not have solid starting and relief pitching.
Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it false.
Mr W - April 29, 2008
I know you are but what am I?
Dude, you’ve had what, 12 posts on BCB? And they’re 80% negative?
No one here thinks you can win without good pitching. Let’s give what we have a chance though.
Bildo1805 - April 29, 2008
Not quite
I was on this site last year, and believed we could get to the World Series, only to see our usual lousy pitching blow another chance.
Of course the season is not over a whole lot of things happen in a marathon. But, we will not reach the goals we all want unless they either trade for, or bring someone up , who can get the job done.
Mr W - April 29, 2008
That doesn't make sense.
“The pitching staff sucks, except for 3 guys.”
3 pitchers=25% of the staff.
Plus, you forgot Marmol. It’s a bad day. Let it go.
Bildo1805 - April 29, 2008
Don't you love consistant umps?
HectorVillanueva - April 29, 2008

Rudey - April 29, 2008

Greene vs. Theriot
What does cwyers say ? :-)
zevkalman - April 29, 2008
Ronny!
muffman - April 29, 2008
Greene's an excellent player...
...good defense and he seems to hit very well when he’s not at Petco. I’m not even sure that a Park Factor covers the difference here; Greene’s home-road splits are much broader than the average hitter, and it may be that Greene is affected more than most players by Petco. I’d love to see him in blue pinstripes.
cwyers - April 29, 2008
Good call, cwyers

Chanman25 - April 29, 2008
who knows? maybe they fall out of it and we can offer ceda, veal, etc...
ARAM FOR MVP - April 29, 2008
Why would they take that?
All it would take is another team offering better prospects/players to trump us. We CANNOT lowball them for a pitcher like C.C. Nice try.
santoswoodenlegs - April 29, 2008
Wow,
Along those lines, how about the Cubs get Peavy and Young.
NittanyCub - April 29, 2008
I think Patterson and Veal would do

xene - April 29, 2008
Maybe we could trade him for C.C.?
santoswoodenlegs - April 29, 2008
I heard we cut Les Walrond
So we could resign him to a more lucrative contract, then trade him for Derek Jeter, Phil Hughes, Chien Ming Wang, and Joba Chamberlain.
Bildo1805 - April 29, 2008
Stop it with the name calling
I hate it when people think all Cubs fans are drunks and don’t care about baseball. And when you call people fat or gay you only add to that stereotype.

Bildo1805 - April 29, 2008
Haha
There’s nothing like DFA’ing someone just so he can be the starting catcher. It’s playing hard-to-get.

santoswoodenlegs - April 29, 2008

Just walked in from work/class
