Yup, that's him. Had to look up his picture on the 'Net.
I recall one episode of The Sopranos in which Vito invited Meadow's boyfriend to a Yankees game. The boyfriend was a Padres fan and Vito said something like, "The Cubbies really gave your boys a shellacin' last night..." I always loved that.
I have a question for you all, I'm going to the Sunday game against the Astros. How early do I need to get there to get a Banks Plaque that they are giving out? The game starts at 1:20pm I believe. Thanks
It was every time he hit the ball up, not on the ground. He kept trying to hit homers in BP, but it would just hit the top of the net. haha. "You hit it on the ground and run it out, that's your game"
Soriano golfed a low and away pitch into left, where it fell between Hardy and Braun, Braun tried to reach down and field it, missed it, Fontenot scored easily anyway.
I love haters. Noticed when I told the hater to put his money where his mouth was that I'd bet him with the Cubs down 2 runs.....I got no response. Maybe a closet hater?? Hating but really pulling for the Cubbies? haha
Can someone tell people that sing the stretch to NOT say "Lets get some runs!" when winning? Its almost as bad as the people that say "Take me out WITH the crowd". Sing it right damn it lol
Would it be too hard to have some sort of crude lightweight motion sensor attached to the uniforms or batting helmets to get some sort of real time read on the players, like they do for motion captures on Madden?
That would take so much bandwidth and overhead it would never happen unless it could be done optically, which isn't really feasible either. (too serious of an answer?)
I am just saying the technology of motion capture is still relativly in its infancy and as bandwith increases exponentially and new technologies emerge, I imagine it could take place without even ntoicing the beacons.
Just frustrated fanatics who express our opiinions "not under the influence oof the Kool-Aid"....NOW...RED, Old Style, or Vodka...we might be under the influence of that.....BUT call a spade a spade.....the Cubs aren't going to do any better or worse one way or another....u think they read this?
I attempted to sub in for you... and wow you are good at what you do. it's not easy! Of course i'm trying to not get caught watching the game at work, lol.
I love the way it worked out today and hope to see similar a lot this year: Get a good six or seven from the starter; Marmol comes in and pitches well for one or two, and then Wood nails it down!
correction we got a win todayyyyyyyyy! how about dempster!! how about woody!! how about all you trolls that said the worlds coming to an end?? i'm here to tell you we got a TEAM here.
We have still lost twice as many games as we've won! Wood still has a 13.5 ERA which clearly shows he is incapable of being closer. Soriano still has no HR's and only one SB.
God, why can't you see that this team is clearly average and has no chance of doing anything!
I think anyone who gives up so easily should stop watching immediately, myself included! So, anyone who has given up at some point in this season should stop being Cubs fans immediately along with the rest of us fair weather fans.
See how easy a little offense makes things look....
and BTW.....the Cubs much maligned closer last year can pitch....I'm not surprised...and Dempster was a HUGE part of Cub success last year....the guy is a great competiter......Let's just see if the regs can start HITTING instead of TIPPING CAPS
Woot.

Regarding Gameday
Would it be too hard to have some sort of crude lightweight motion sensor attached to the uniforms or batting helmets to get some sort of real time read on the players, like they do for motion captures on Madden?
I feel like this should be feasible...
holmerica - April 3, 2008
That would take so much bandwidth and overhead it would never happen unless it could be done optically, which isn't really feasible either. (too serious of an answer?)
northsider - April 3, 2008
Take it easy, he's an Illini
= D
NittanyCub - April 3, 2008

It would
be awful funny to see the batters on TV at the plate with those little white things stuck all over their bodies
gwood - April 3, 2008
Sensors
They wouldn't have to be as many.
I am just saying the technology of motion capture is still relativly in its infancy and as bandwith increases exponentially and new technologies emerge, I imagine it could take place without even ntoicing the beacons.
Just a thought...
holmerica - April 3, 2008

Ryno72 - April 3, 2008
If we keep this streak going...
we'll win every remaining game!

Player of the Game:
RYAN DEMPSTER
northsider - April 3, 2008
hey, fyi
I attempted to sub in for you... and wow you are good at what you do. it's not easy! Of course i'm trying to not get caught watching the game at work, lol.
bap - April 3, 2008
haha, nice work.
My top story: Definitely the Cubs winning.
northsider - April 3, 2008
Bring on the 'Stros!
neverAcquiesce - April 3, 2008
Things I learned today:
Ryan Braun, your DH slot is waiting.
Corey Hart throws like Corey Haim.
Ryan Dempster can remain calm and collected.
Geovany Soto swings very, very hard.
Kerry's filthy, filthy slider is back.
gary varsho - April 3, 2008
NIce...
... but nothing about Fielder?
digitalbenjamin - April 3, 2008
Naw.
But one more thing:
It's apparently possible to overestimate the stupidity of Ned Yost, because I thought for sure he'd start a beanball war today.
gary varsho - April 3, 2008
I'll bet Geovany's
backside will be a little sore after getting knocked on his backside today.
sue369 - April 3, 2008
enough with ballplayers backsides!
Hey-o
bap - April 3, 2008
but I
felt bad for him. :-(
sue369 - April 3, 2008
Here is a replay of that play
Soto getting knocked on his backside
flachimesa - April 3, 2008
Let's try this again
Soto getting knocked on his backside
flachimesa - April 3, 2008
Ok, all, Great W
gotta try to squeeze 3 hours of work into the next hour. I'll check in with y'all later, eh?
bap - April 3, 2008
This just in...
Just saw this come across the wire.
http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/15784355/detail.html
I would imagine that you've got to do something pretty awful to get Dawson that ticked off...
Shawon O Meter - April 3, 2008
Yep.
Just ask Eric Show.
gary varsho - April 3, 2008
Red Sox fans will claim
she was a Yankee fan.
tony412 - April 3, 2008
In all seriousness...
...what a freaky thing to have happen at a ballgame. I hope the girl's alright.
Shawon O Meter - April 3, 2008
Great pitching
I love the way it worked out today and hope to see similar a lot this year: Get a good six or seven from the starter; Marmol comes in and pitches well for one or two, and then Wood nails it down!
danimal15 - April 3, 2008
I guaranteed this victory...
...by missing the ninth inning. (Late meeting here at work.) Congrats to Demp, Woody and the Cubs!!!
Now let's take two of three from the 'Stros and leave for Pittsburgh at .500!!!
daver - April 3, 2008
al posted we need a win today...
correction we got a win todayyyyyyyyy! how about dempster!! how about woody!! how about all you trolls that said the worlds coming to an end?? i'm here to tell you we got a TEAM here.
cubsluver22 - April 3, 2008
stolen bases
Four of them today by four different players. Another good sign. Hope Lou stays aggressive.
danimal15 - April 3, 2008
I wonder if Jason Kendall allows more stolen bases
this season than the Brewers steal as a team? Could happen.
gary varsho - April 3, 2008
That being said...
...Soto hasn't exactly been Tony Pena out there, either.
Shawon O Meter - April 3, 2008
How dare you all be happy
We have still lost twice as many games as we've won! Wood still has a 13.5 ERA which clearly shows he is incapable of being closer. Soriano still has no HR's and only one SB.
God, why can't you see that this team is clearly average and has no chance of doing anything!
DTJchris - April 3, 2008
Indeed!
This team is PATHETIC and DISGUSTING. (And victorious.)
daver - April 3, 2008
Shoot them all
They should all be taken out and shot twice.
puckishcubsfan - April 3, 2008
HAHAHAHA!!!!!
Well played!
gary varsho - April 3, 2008
After today
I'm not even watching anymore. I'm done with this team!
sue369 - April 3, 2008
me too! amateurs!!
northsider - April 3, 2008
we are soooo bad
sue369 - April 3, 2008
You guys are such band wagon fans
NittanyCub - April 3, 2008
I know but
it's so much fun. :P
sue369 - April 3, 2008
Good
I think anyone who gives up so easily should stop watching immediately, myself included! So, anyone who has given up at some point in this season should stop being Cubs fans immediately along with the rest of us fair weather fans.
Let's Go!
DTJchris - April 3, 2008
Rich Hill hasn't even got AN OUT yet! He's terrible! Send him to AAA! Wait, no, send him all the way to EXST!
northsider - April 3, 2008
Even though
I watched the game I really enjoy Al's recap. It's like watching it twice.
sue369 - April 3, 2008
Ditto.
northsider - April 3, 2008
First victory Old Style when I get home.
Can I get a woot?
Mordecai - April 3, 2008
Woot!
DTJchris - April 3, 2008
hmmm
no dumpster posts = good
Chanman25 - April 3, 2008
Wow
I just realized I've been reading the thread for the last 40 minutes. Been on here so long Al had time to post recap.
It was sooooo worth it scrolling through just to see the flag posted!
"They got the power, the got the speed
To be the best in the National League..."
GO CUBS GO!!!!!
Its so awful, but I love it. Sing it Goodman!
The Ryno and I Know - April 3, 2008
Funny to see the box score
and see these guys flip flopped
WP: R. Dempster (1-0) S: K. Wood (1)
tony412 - April 3, 2008
if Dempster does this all year
It would be swell!! One more win to .500!
Chanman25 - April 3, 2008
See how easy a little offense makes things look....
and BTW.....the Cubs much maligned closer last year can pitch....I'm not surprised...and Dempster was a HUGE part of Cub success last year....the guy is a great competiter......Let's just see if the regs can start HITTING instead of TIPPING CAPS
