I didn't see...
Soriano score in the 3rd, I was listening to the game on my radio. Was it careless base running or good base running? BTW nice pictures David.
wrigleyrocker12 - May 11, 2008
It was good base running...
with 2 out, that aggresiveness in that situation is a good thing as it takes perfect execution from 3 people. Only one did their job, lil Augie. What worries me is how Soriano looked while running yesterday, he looked hurt…...

That does seem like an odd position for the ump...
...to be in, doesn’t it? Shouldn’t he be facing first base, assuming the first base line extended another 10 or 12 feet behind home plate? The position he is in now really isn’t conducive for a play-at-the-plate, unless the play isn’t one.

You guys are ridiculous
The ump was in position.
If you’ll notice, there’s a runner at 1st and it’s the home plate umps responsibitliy to cover first (if they throw behind the runner/misses the base/etc.) and home in that situation since the the 1st base umpire is in the outfield.
Where that ball is, there’s no place other than standing in front of the plate that he would have been able to see it. Plus, there’s no way he could have predicted that that would be the optimal vantage point before the play developed.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
...but Dome’s first home was a dead shot to RF, and this one, to straight-away LF. Good range!

OH WOW! The ivy is in!!!!!
Man… I’ve been on the road for a whole week already… and I still have 4 more days to go. Can’t wait to come home! The Cubs-Pirates await me!
I haven’t been able to see a single friggin game (in Bermuda). It’s killin me. Plus… my damn slingbox isn’t working because of RCN’s new “cable box.” And, I just haven’t had time to fix it yet.

columbusOHcubsfan - May 11, 2008
what
are the chances they get this game in today?
china423 - May 11, 2008
I hope zero.
The weather conditions are atrocious. Pouring rain right now (10:20 am) and supposed to rain for at least 5-6 more hours.

Usually, in Nagoya, by Dragons Fans in RF bleachers
Dragons fans there in RF bleachers of Nagoya dome start singing a song for Dome if he hit a homerun or RBI hit to welcome him after the inning is over. And he tips his cap as usual, and in Chicago.
So how did you guys react to him after he’s got nice late inning homerun yesterday?
