for what you know they’ll do, but for what you think they’ll do. Z is a proven hitter. But even DWarle doesn’t get on base every at bat. Although it sometimes seems like it.
Do not invite anybody to sing TMOTTBG! Play a recording of Harry and let us enjoy the bottom of the seventh inning without having to mute the tv to avoid hearing Phil Donahue blather on!
I’d be absolutely fine with that option, as well. Just am absolutely sick to friggin’ death of this whole celebrity guest conductor thing. I can’t imagine what Bob and Len think about it. Havin’ to throw questions at these goofballs 81 times a year. Poor bastards.
Havin’ to throw questions at these goofballs 81 times a year. Poor bastards.
Bob cut his interview with the soccer guy short before the inning was even over. He had absolutely nothing to say to the guy. Nor the guy to him. Platitude-city.
Personal life Hillenmeyer is currently pursuing a Part-Time MBA program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In announcing the defensive starters for a 2006 Monday Night Football game against the St. Louis Rams, Bears teammate Alex Brown nicknamed the linebacker “Triple H” Hunter Hillenmeyer. An interview with Fox News Chicago revealed that Hillenmeyer is engaged to the daughter of Tim Floyd, the coach of the University of Southern California’s basketball team. His father is also a chef and restaurant owner in Tennessee.
I’d love to be in Wrigleyville the day they win, but it might get rowdy. It was pretty intense when they won the division last year. IMAGINE how it will be if the Cubs win.
Unless you get lucky to get tickets. There were a couple tv set up outside you can it on a three second delay but you can hear all the crowd reation before you see it. Semi-annoying. But its better than a crowded bar. I live a mile north, easy five min bus ride. You’re welcomed hear if you dont mind a small studio apt and an air matress.
It’s rare that you ever need your closer to go three days in a row. For example, we haven’t actually NEEDED our closer to go to three days in a row this week.
Da Vinci used live models to paint each apostle and Jesus. He had nearly finished the painting, but had not found a suitable Judas. So, he goes to a local jail. He looks around and sees a face he likes. He gets the guy out of jail and take him to paint Judas. The guy eventually looks at Da Vinci and says “Don’t you recognize me?” Da Vinci says no. The guy replies, “You should, you used me for Jesus a while ago.” So, the story goes, in this painting, Judas and Jesus are the same person.

santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008

daver - May 16, 2008
It's Friday

sue369 - May 16, 2008

Being “Last” is my thing. It’s very important to me.
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
I'll just post in the morning then...
boo-yah!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
I just like
being a brat.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
You dress in those awful street walker clothes and wear bad eye makeup?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Oh...brat...not Bratz
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
God, I
hate those Bratz dolls.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
Its the little things
in life.
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
damn!!
Itchy - May 16, 2008
is Gallagher
gonna have a chance to stay in the rotation??
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
With a start like this, I would hope so
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
He hasn't pitched that well man.
Honestly.
Fukumania - May 16, 2008
not watching
kinda listening, kinda working
still better than Marquis
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
Ok I take that back.
But it was nothing that would warrent another definite start.
Fukumania - May 16, 2008
Thank the Maker.
that thread was ridiculously slow.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Didn't Gallagher
fall apart after 5 last outing? Hope he can last a little while longer this time.
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
It's happening.
Meh. :(
Fukumania - May 16, 2008
POOP!
Fukumania - May 16, 2008
McClouth steps in.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Kinda like to see Gallagher not walk the leadoff guy AGAIN!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
McClouth doubbles to lead of the 6th
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Well, it's not a walk
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
Gapper for McClouth
Leadoff Double
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
Well...
that wasn’t a walk.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Might want to get someone up with the youngster on the hill...
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
You guys needs to shop for a better computer.
xene - May 16, 2008
I like to eat.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
computers?
lol
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
What tha dude are you talking about?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
I think
the Cubs will obviously win today…(knock on wood) and should win tomorrow…
I think we have a chance to sweep them again if Marquis can actually pitch halfway decent Sunday.
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
uh oh
keep it together Sean
noiseboy - May 16, 2008
Time to get the bullpen
up and working..I would like to see Wuertz again…he looked strong last time out.
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
I think a six-run lead calls for some Chad Fox time.
cwyers - May 16, 2008
I agree.
Fukumania - May 16, 2008
Walk. Men on 1st and 2nd, no outs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Damnit
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Maybe I'm wrong but
I thought it was spelled d-a-m-m-i-t
Just a passing thought.
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
Damitt?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Da Mitt.
it’s like… Da Bears!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Point to ponder
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
Just get him out of there - its the 6th - WTF
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Gallagher is getting gassed.
but man. a three-hitter for the kid through five. Can’t expect much more.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Laroche has decided to swing, but not really try to hit it fair.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Another K for Gallagher!
That’s three!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Laroche K's on a pretty good pitch from Sean.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
1 out.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Come on now - DP!!!
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
TWSS
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
what is this TWSS you speak of?
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
"That's what she said."
I actually didn’t know this one until recently either.
daver - May 16, 2008
ah.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I pop these mystery terms into google
hasn’t let me down yet
Emelie - May 16, 2008
DP!!
She gets what she wants.
Zy Toro Young - May 16, 2008
LOL, the mind reels.
daver - May 16, 2008
just setting up the DP
crw89 - May 16, 2008
big Z on the mound tomorrow
any one has any tickets to sell?
xene - May 16, 2008
Anyone up in the pen? Anyone know?
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Howry, I thought
I heard Pat say.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Couple guys are up, but it's a secret
John Q Freejazz - May 16, 2008
Howry is up...
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
and the shutout
is over. McClouth comes in on Nady’s single.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Nady singles to RF. McClouth scorres. 1st and 2nd, 1 out. 6-1 Cubs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
There goes the shutout
6-1
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
We only need
one more run than the other guy. But it would be nice to hold a lead and not make this one interesting inteh final few innings!
sdurst - May 16, 2008
Shit
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Lieber could use a couple innings work.
he’s not pitched since, when Cincinati?
philadelphiacub - May 16, 2008
That was a good pitch.
Tough break.
Fukumania - May 16, 2008
Howry up in the Cub's 'pen.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Funny
Gallagher’s ERA jumped from 3.95 to 4.61 on that one hit.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Marquis pitching Sunday?
Mark THAT down as a loss.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
with the way the offense is playing
it’s entirely possible that even Marquis can get a win. or a N/D.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I enjoy your optimism
For reals.
sfoulkes - May 16, 2008
Bet you
a dollar you can’t say anything positive for the rest of this game.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
OK...(imitates maliedooms voice)
(I’m positive you can mark that down as a loss)
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
lol
sue369 - May 16, 2008
I bet I can make you gamble by the end of the game.
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
Osoria up in the Pirate 'pen
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
DP!
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
DOUBLE PLAY!
got’em!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
DP!
yay Sean!
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
great
escape
sdurst - May 16, 2008
4-6-3 DP!!!!!!!!! On to the bottom of 6, 6-1 Cubs. Nice job working out of jam by Sean.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
sweetness!
crw89 - May 16, 2008
Whew
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
Excellent.
slcathena - May 16, 2008
I think you gotta send Howry out for the 7th. Gallagher looks gassed.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
If you have Chad Fox on your roster...
...then Chad Fox needs to pitch when you have a five run lead.
cwyers - May 16, 2008
I think we have one of those still dont we?
JB 23 - May 16, 2008
true.
Even then, I’d be nervous.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
That's why you and I wouldn't have him on the roster.
But this is the sort of time when you pitch Chad Fox. You just keep him on a leash.
cwyers - May 16, 2008
6 innings of one-run ball.
A nice confidence-booster for Gallagher. I presume he’s done for the day?
daver - May 16, 2008
I say given him 1 more
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
baby steps.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
depends on the line-up
if he gets up to bat with runners on… P H
chi-townbleacherbum - May 16, 2008
Not really...
Getting into the bullpen in the 7th is fine, and no need to risk it at this point. Let’s make it 10 in a row v. the Pirates!
slcathena - May 16, 2008
I hope so.
Let’s stretch this kid out little by little, not all at once.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Gotta be...
his spot in the lineup is due soon.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Coach Sal Martinella says:
“You gave me six great innings! I’m saving you for the playoffs.”
HereComesASpecialBoy - May 16, 2008
Cedeno up
Let’s see how he follows a nice play in the field with a nice hit
carolinacub - May 16, 2008
Cedeno pops out to SS. 1 away.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Bud Light Cleavage Cam on the prowl...
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
gotta love those
...until you see your girl with three other guys in the bleachers
xene - May 16, 2008
Is it wrong and greedy to want some more runs this inning?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
no
never
gewurztraminer - May 16, 2008
'Tis neither wrong nor greedy.
daver - May 16, 2008
not at all...be greedy i say
crw89 - May 16, 2008
no and yes respectively
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
no
and it’s also precognitive.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I'm gonna say this counts as calling DeRo's home run.
What the hell. I’m in a generous mood today.
daver - May 16, 2008
I'll take it.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
HR DEROSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7-1 Cubs!!!!!!!!!!!
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
DeRo GO GO GO GO
Emelie - May 16, 2008
DERO HO-HO!
Home Run DeRosa!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
DeRo!
gewurztraminer - May 16, 2008
WOW
And yeah, 91 pitches for Gallagher.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
D-ro
goes deep
sdurst - May 16, 2008
DeRo!!! Solo!!! and Awaaaaaay we Go!!!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
woo hoo..... these Cubs are HOT
MinnesotaFan - May 16, 2008
EXCELLENT!!!!!
And here I thought the wind might only be blowing out to Left. ;)
slcathena - May 16, 2008
Johnson flies out to RF. 2 away.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
and gorzelanny is still in?
crw89 - May 16, 2008
Z in to pinch hit
for Gally. Good on the kid!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I call HR for Z
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
seconded
crw89 - May 16, 2008
It was only 365 feet short of leaving the yard.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
maybe the wind knocked it down
crw89 - May 16, 2008
It was totally the wind.
Zambrano only hits home runs—but sometimes mother nature thwarts them.
slcathena - May 16, 2008
Z pitches on Sat
thats 4 abs. Doesnt want to give anything away. 4 hrs >1 hr
Zy Toro Young - May 16, 2008
Zambrano PH for Gallagher.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
OMGLOLRZ
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
I couldn't have said it better myself
slcathena - May 16, 2008
BIG hack by Z!
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Wait.
Did we just pinch it Zambrano?
slcathena - May 16, 2008
91 pitches for Gallagher.
94 for Gorzelanny.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I've really warmed up to Z
season’s not over yet but he does seem to have matured a bit
Emelie - May 16, 2008
ripped!
to the pitcher.
Reddevil - May 16, 2008
Carlos taps back to Gorzelanny. 3 outs. On to the top of 7, 7-1 Cubs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
That was dumb.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
you don't put in a pinch hitter
for what you know they’ll do, but for what you think they’ll do. Z is a proven hitter. But even DWarle doesn’t get on base every at bat. Although it sometimes seems like it.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
If Ward is unable to PH
why are they waiting to put him on the DL
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
one theory is
that Hoffpauer wouldn’t pinch against these left-handed pirates anyway, so give him a few more days of playing down in AAA to get over his own injury.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Why use your best hitter
With a 5-run lead and the bases empty?
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
PINCH hitter
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
Howry coming in from the 'pen.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Come on, Bobby. You've been good lately.
I know. Jinx.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Howry ERA at the moment: 5.79
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
You need a hug.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
And it's about to go low...low...low...lowlowlow.
daver - May 16, 2008
Howry Cow!!!!!
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
I can't wait for the shirt to come man!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
should be any day
it appears Howry is obliging by finally not giving up runs
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
good catch by the riot
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Theriot with a nice diving (of course) stab of Paulino's liner!!!!
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Scrappy catch..
Bump Bailey - May 16, 2008
Bixler grounds to 3B. 2 outs. Bixler really gets down the line quickly.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
He can..
really pick em up and put em down..:)
is that a Hawkism? if so, I apologize in advance..
Bump Bailey - May 16, 2008
From the Buc's Dugout game thread:
daver - May 16, 2008
those are posts
six seven and eight, right?
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
They've made it to double-digits: 64.
daver - May 16, 2008
Any of them asking about an overflow thread?
cwyers - May 16, 2008
Not yet. Maybe we should send malicedoom over there to post a few 3 GB images.
daver - May 16, 2008
lol
Emelie - May 16, 2008
HAHA!
Maybe they’d keep him too.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
they'd be shocked
that you can actually post images, i’m sure
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
Ooops, I meant to post this below, in response to philadelphiacub's comment about Bixler swinging at the first pitch.
daver - May 16, 2008
haha thats fine, saw it anyway
philadelphiacub - May 16, 2008
Wow - 2 quick outs.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
now that's positive
crw89 - May 16, 2008
Is it just me or does bixler like to hack at the first pitch?
philadelphiacub - May 16, 2008
Today he has, at least.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Howry hammering the strike zone today.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
I bet you wish he was...
varshoing the K zone instead huh? Hammer? Care to comment? Is he here today or at the game?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
I like it when
the Cubs badger the opposition
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
Apparently, you never saw Gary bat...
Varshoing the strike zone is not a pretty sight…
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Gomez PH for Gorzelanny.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Gomez singles past a diving Cedeno into RF
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Pasta diving Cedeno!
Hey, I’m equal opportunity.
cwyers - May 16, 2008
Pasta diving? Is that like dumpster diving?
daver - May 16, 2008
but he's not italian
is he?
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Ryan Pastadivin
I thought that was trademarked to Theriot.
Jayo525 - May 16, 2008
Man on 1st, 2 outs for Sanchez
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
7 runs on 7 hits....
yikes!
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
Makes sense
when you consider every RBI was on a homerun…
slcathena - May 16, 2008
Sanchez is not in a hurry.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Littering annnnnd? Littering annnnnnnnnnd????
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Huh?
McRipper - May 16, 2008
The snozzberries taste like snozzberries.
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
Yeah, ya had me then ya lost me.
daver - May 16, 2008
Gallagher most definately earns another start
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
agreed.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
yup, which is really nice...
JB 23 - May 16, 2008
Sanchez fouls out to Soto. 3 outs. Lance Briggs on for TMOTTBG.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Is he getting booed?
McRipper - May 16, 2008
why would Briggs get booed?
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
"I will never play another down in Chicago."
could be why
gewurztraminer - May 16, 2008
Just wondering.
McRipper - May 16, 2008
No, but
after that woeful singing performance, he should. Yikes.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
crw89 knows, I'll bet...
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
oh nooooo
my EARS…. AGAIN!!
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Och.
This is pretty bad.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Let’s just hope he gets out the booth without impregnating anyone...
JB 23 - May 16, 2008
wouldn't THAT
just make Ron Santo’s day!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Its a microphone
it does the yelling for you!
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
Good thing
Lance plays good football. OMG he’s awful.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
note to cubs management
do NOT invite footballers to sing TMOTTBG
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Aww, I really
like Robbie Gould so he can sing it anytime.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
That's ok
He isnt a football player.
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
Guess we disagree.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
I give him big props though
for donating $1K for every HR to whatever that worthy charity was
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Note to Cubs management:
Do not invite anybody to sing TMOTTBG! Play a recording of Harry and let us enjoy the bottom of the seventh inning without having to mute the tv to avoid hearing Phil Donahue blather on!
BMoney79 - May 16, 2008
give it to Ron Santo.
He can do it.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Or that
I’d be absolutely fine with that option, as well. Just am absolutely sick to friggin’ death of this whole celebrity guest conductor thing. I can’t imagine what Bob and Len think about it. Havin’ to throw questions at these goofballs 81 times a year. Poor bastards.
BMoney79 - May 16, 2008
did you notice yesterday
Bob cut his interview with the soccer guy short before the inning was even over. He had absolutely nothing to say to the guy. Nor the guy to him. Platitude-city.
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Oh gods...
Bring Tony Romo back…
Bump Bailey - May 16, 2008
I think Briggs was just really excited and nervous up there
Romo seemed like he didn’t care
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
That's because
Romo is an arrogant douchenozzle
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
well I was just trying to be nice :-0
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
LOL
Briggs is shouting!! awesome
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
What is it with football players
being terrible at take me out to the ballgame. First Romo, now this
jbgindy - May 16, 2008
Sweet singing #55!!
Itchy - May 16, 2008

NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
how Merry!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I guess it was better than romo's...
CubsBall2202 - May 16, 2008
bad singing but....
at least he didn’t say “let’s get some runs” instead he said, let’s win a championship….
MinnesotaFan - May 16, 2008
Meh, I dunno, I'll give Briggs points for enthusiasm.
daver - May 16, 2008
Come on, AS
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
If we wanted a yelled version of TMOTTBG...
we would bring Gilbert Gottfried in.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Soriano up.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
he ks.
On the other hand, if his 2-4 games include two going yards, I think we can live with that… :P
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Briggs, wow
didn’t think he was like that
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
WOW - up to FIVE pitches - lol
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
How about the 2 homeruns?
Was that “lol”? God, grow up, and learn baseball.
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
I'm assuming
malice was being sarcastic?
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
Sori K's looking. 1 out.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Loser. He's killing us.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Soriano is amazing. Dude now has 47 game starting homers. That's legit.
Too bad he strikes out a lot of the rest of the time. I’ll live.
slcathena - May 16, 2008
HACK!
: D
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
LOL
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Theriot grounds to SS. Nice play by Bixler behind 2B, but Ryan looked safe.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
So who pitches the 8th? Howry still?
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Chaaaad Foooox, clap...clap...clapclapclap
daver - May 16, 2008
Ryan was safe. Nevertheless, two outs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Come on DEEEE LEEEE
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
DLee grounds to 3B. 3 outs. On to the 8th, 7-1 Cubs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Santo's saying Lou would like to bring Hill back....
MinnesotaFan - May 16, 2008
Probably because he'd like to give
Jason Marquis the boot.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Along with the rest of
Cubdom
Rudey - May 16, 2008
Hill's not coming back for a while...
despite his sub 2.00 ERA and 13 K’s in 10 AAA IPs.
keep workin on that control Rich Boy!
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
Hunter Hillenmeyer will sing TMOTTBG tomorrow.
This is not a joke.

Hillenmeyer is currently pursuing a Part-Time MBA program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
MinnesotaFan - May 16, 2008
another 0 for
for Derrek. Seems like he’s the only guy who hasnt been swinging it well lately.
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
You're aware he had 2 hits and 2 RBI last night, right?
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
yaa...but before that he was
something like 4 for his last 26.
he’s not hitting the ball well right now.
cubs2k8isnxtyear - May 16, 2008
Yeah, a day off is probably in order.
Where the hell is Hoffpauier?
daver - May 16, 2008
He got a couple hits yesterday, I believe.
daver - May 16, 2008
Yes he did good yesterdAY
but overall this month hes seemed cold.
Good thing we have quite a good team this year and dont need one more to carry the team.

An update from the Buc's Dugout game thread:
daver - May 16, 2008
tombstone reference?

bolivar13 - May 16, 2008
now that's a great post!
JB 23 - May 16, 2008
They're also
our Daisy Do.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I must confess, I didn't get the reference. Where is that from?
daver - May 16, 2008
Same movie.
When Doc kills Johnny Ringo.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
why Jim Edmonds...
you’re not wearing a bustle. How lewd.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Hahahaah
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
No, the Pirates are no Daisy at all...
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Horrid movie, but a helluva performance by Kilmer.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
WHAT?
You crazy. Great movie. Shooo.
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
Great movie. Although all the good lines were Val's.
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
Course I thought Young Guns was a great movie too
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
Did you guys see the size of that chicken?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
acutally Kilmer is so good, its really worth watching...
JB 23 - May 16, 2008
Disagree - Great movie
“Your probably seeing double.” “Well I have two guns, one for each of ya!”
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
definitely agree
philadelphiacub - May 16, 2008
can we play the Pirates everygame?
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
:)
I’m sure there’s a law against that somewhere…
slcathena - May 16, 2008
I'll put in a call to Bud Selig.

poop
sue369 - May 16, 2008
Jason Bay puts one in the seats in RF. 7-2 Cubs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Obligatory solo home run. No biggie. I figured it would be McClouth, to be honest.
daver - May 16, 2008
I hoped it would be McClouth.
I’m heavily invested in the lad, fantasy-wise.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
By is a legit HR threat...unless it's the HR derby...
no shame is giving one up to him…
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Uh oh
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Laroche grounds out. 2 away.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Maybe a day off tommorow?
For Fukudome and D.LEE?
With big Z on the mound i think we would be JUST FINE.
Rudey - May 16, 2008
Dome had the day off today.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Dome

drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Not for Dome...
he’s not a guy you need to sit against every LHP.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Dome had his day off today.
But Lee sounds good to me.
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
Sorry guys
been at work for most of the game and just sat down, didnt notice.
Thx for pointing it out.
Rudey - May 16, 2008
So who pitches in the 9th for da Cubbies?
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
*raises hand*
Ooo, ooo
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
not Woody.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
now woody
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
yeah, maybe.
I’d hate to see Gallagher lose his W.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
probably Fox
crw89 - May 16, 2008
Cha-ad, Fo-ox, clap...clap...clapclapclap
daver - May 16, 2008
man....
its going to be hard as hell to get playoff tickets this year. Even if they got to the World Series, it would be impossible to get tickets..
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
this is why
I have cable. Although if it looks like they’re going to win anything big at home, I’m going to Wrigleyville to drink the game through.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I'll try to get up there if they will. If they win it on the road, it would be easier (unless it is Fenway!)
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
my family are all big Red Sox fans
and I would LOVE a Cubs-Sox matchup.
Emelie - May 16, 2008
yeah me too
however you think getting tickets at Wrigley would be bad, Fenway is about 2/3 the size of our park. Plus you have tons of season ticket holders.
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
yep
but I’d stand outside both fields just to be near the action
Emelie - May 16, 2008
true true
I’d love to be in Wrigleyville the day they win, but it might get rowdy. It was pretty intense when they won the division last year. IMAGINE how it will be if the Cubs win.
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
little scary
for sure. big riot danger but Daley would have 6 billion cops on the scene
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Do they instill cover charges during the playoffs?
californiachicagoan - May 16, 2008
No
But every bar will be mega packed. Last year all of Wrigleyville it seemed like there was doubled the amount of people than in the ballpark.
Zy Toro Young - May 16, 2008
meh
Joe Buck calling the Cubs winning out….that would be awkward..
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
I just plan on buying a airplane ticket from San Diego to Chicago and hang out on Waveland for a couple games.
Anyone want to put up a fellow BCB’er for a night in October?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
I believe Hammer lives near Wrigley.

joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
Waveland is the best way to go
Unless you get lucky to get tickets.
There were a couple tv set up outside you can it on a three second delay but you can hear all the crowd reation before you see it. Semi-annoying. But its better than a crowded bar. I live a mile north, easy five min bus ride. You’re welcomed hear if you dont mind a small studio apt and an air matress.
Zy Toro Young - May 16, 2008

Marmol? C’mon.
BMoney79 - May 16, 2008

Bobby’s pitched us into a save situation.
BMoney79 - May 16, 2008

gary varsho - May 16, 2008

he just wants to give Kerry another SV opp.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
WTF
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
crap
sue369 - May 16, 2008
Howry

still Marmol?

gary varsho - May 16, 2008

JB 23 - May 16, 2008

Wood gets save opp I asumme
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
Marmol's the only one up right now.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Wood's pitched two days in a row...
one of which was nearly 30 pitches. he’s out for today.
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
I would not put Fox out there with only a 3-run lead
But maybe that’s just me.
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Which is exactly why Crazy Uncle Lou will do it.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Which suggests that he should not be on an MLB roster...
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
We're both of those HR's Howry gave up...
opposite field shots?
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Yeah.
The ball is flying out to RF today.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
yup
louslovechild - May 16, 2008
I'd like to give Howry...
...an opposite field SHOT.
Da bitch…
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
whoa there
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
Simmer down, now....
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Easy, Tex.
daver - May 16, 2008
what is your problem?
sue369 - May 16, 2008
dood.
it’s a 7-4 ball game. Cmon.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Seriously...
we’re winning this game pretty handily right now…calm down.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
yeah sure go ahead
but please take notes about about the LAST guy who did it
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
AHHHHHAAAHHHAAAHH!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
What is it about Howry
that he loves to give up the big leads when the Cubs hand them to him…
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
I wanna see Edmonds bat
haven’t yet this season..
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
Marmol has sat down, Kerry is getting up.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Wait, wouldn't that be three games in a row for Kerry?
daver - May 16, 2008
Yeah, but
It takes 4 to earn a “Yostie”
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
Yeah...and ML closers have to do that sometimes....
like in October.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
teams don't play three days in a row in October
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
games...not days.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
we're talking about days here though
this would be three straight DAYS
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
at least we SHOULD be talking about days here...
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
who said days?...daver said games.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
I actually meant days, though. That's what worries me.
daver - May 16, 2008
See my correction...
bringing Wood in here isn’t the best idea in the world.
And as daver said, days is the more relevant thing here.
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
I just thought Lou wasn't going to do that for a while.
daver - May 16, 2008
Lou isn't known for sticking to a plan
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
yes.
he needs to be able to do this, tho.
I hope his command is on today.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
good, marmol needs to sit for a couple
crw89 - May 16, 2008
bad, Wood also needs to sit for a couple
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
yep, him too
crw89 - May 16, 2008
Wood warming up
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
Uggh...
that is a bad idea…
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
agree
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Rammy grounds to 2B. 1 out.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
One more run would be nice
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
If we need that big of a cushion to feel comfortable
with our closer coming in for the ninth we have bigger problems than I thought….
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
Soto with a frozen rope single to LF. 1 on, 1 out.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
They'll give the ROY award to an East Coast team player ....I'm calling it now.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
offhand
I can’t think of a viable candidate from an east coast team
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
me neither...
they gave it to braun last year
crw89 - May 16, 2008
That would be
so unfair.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
Dome in the on-deck circle
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Dome! C'mon you can do it
Emelie - May 16, 2008
Dome in to hit for Ronny.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Great day for Soto
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Word, that dude is money
slcathena - May 16, 2008
We need a double from Ronny right now
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Hard for him to do
from the bench. Dome is hitting for him.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
foo-koo-dough-may
A new fan favorite!
sdurst - May 16, 2008
Whoops - OK, how aboutt from Fukudome
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
Osoria staying away from Dome
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
I presume
if Dome’s going in, he’ll play RF and DeRosa will move to second.
I wonder… is it harder to move from the outfield to the infield in a single game, or vice versa?
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Dome grounds into FC. Soto out at 2nd. 2 outs.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
maybe he'll
steal.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I hate pinch hitting for position players...
...especially ones with an OPS above, say, .700. When you take into account the PH penalty it’s so not worth it.
cwyers - May 16, 2008
Not to mention, this means
Fontenot comes in as a defensive replacement.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
maybe DeRo moves
from RF to second?
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
nope
slide Dero to 2b and Dome in RF
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
true.
Good catch.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Has a single run been scored that was not a homerun/RBI?
slcathena - May 16, 2008
Yep -- RBI groundout by Rami
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
McClouth scored on a single by Nady
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Cool, thanks
Sorry, harder to see form work on gamecast than when watching it for reals. ;)
slcathena - May 16, 2008
Derosa flies out to Nady. 3 outs. Kerry on for the save. Fricking Howry.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
ok, here we go!
Time to win this thing.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Lets go Woody!
Close em down!
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
It'd be nice...
To see Kerry go 3 up 3 down.
wrigleyrocker12 - May 16, 2008
or 4 up, 4 down
Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
K WOOD!
slcathena - May 16, 2008
Hopefully Wood doesn't hurt himself...
pitching him three days in a row isn’t the best idea in the world.
Let’s have this be a quick inning (please)!
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
Uh oh...
malicedoom - May 16, 2008
come on Woody!
crw89 - May 16, 2008
Dome in right, Derosa now at 2B.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
hah
called it! :D
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Rivas PH for Osoria.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
for bixler, right
crw89 - May 16, 2008
If a 3 day stretch of pitching is going to hurt Wood...
he shouldn’t’ be our closer. He should be rehabbing.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Debatable...
It’s rare that you ever need your closer to go three days in a row. For example, we haven’t actually NEEDED our closer to go to three days in a row this week.
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
I guess. It's just that...well...he's still Kerry Wood.
If he gets through this unscathed, it’ll be a big step forward, though.
daver - May 16, 2008
DONT HIT ANYONE!!!!
PLEASE!
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008

Zy Toro Young - May 16, 2008

Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008

Bump Bailey - May 16, 2008
This is fast becoming my favorite
Cubs victory photo. lol
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
LOL. He is the Cubs Everyman.
daver - May 16, 2008
Haha..
Looks like one of the Super Fans..
Bump Bailey - May 16, 2008
I like it too.
sue369 - May 16, 2008
yeah, it's great that he is looking directly at the camera
from a distance, and everyone else is oblivious
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
I just like the picture for the hottie in the foreground...
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
A 10 pitch save
Awesome.
slcathena - May 16, 2008
EIGHT strikes.
w00t! Gallagher’s first win, ten games over .500, and we get to play the Pirates five more times in the next three weeks!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Good for Gallagher to get a W
and really nice to see Soriano back in full force.
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
11 pitch save for Kerry. Nice.
Gallagher pitched well without his best stuff. Howry needs to unf—k himself. Sori was awesome. All in all a good win.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Wood could even pitch tomorrow.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
I will fly into town and punch Piniella in the face if he does this
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
but if he did
it would be his TENTH save! :D
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
awesome.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Lou can still fight . . .
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
he's scrappy!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I'm quicker...
but he does have the weight advantage
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
(here's hoping we win by 10 tomorrow!)
Plane tickets are expensive, and I don’t need to spend a night in jail.
SouthernCub - May 16, 2008
wood is our chuck norris
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
There is no chin behind Kerry Wood’s gotee. There is only another fist.
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
cubs are unbeatable with Edmonds!!!11
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
LOL
northsider - May 16, 2008
2-0

Chanman25 - May 16, 2008
LOL
Very funny
AlabamaCubFan - May 16, 2008
why do we sing "cubs are going to win today" when they ALREADY DID WIN TODAY
MinnesotaFan - May 16, 2008
your logic is powerless
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
Yet another reason to hate that stupid song.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
GASP!
LOL…
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Heretic!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Blasphemer!
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
I remain unrepentant.
If am am alone in my convictions, so be it, but that is a terrible song.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
well,
there’s lots of bad songs; I could go years without hearing “Cheeseburger in Paradise” ever again… but it’s a tradition, my friend…
We need to have a BCB get-together. For a game, but not a critical one, so that we can, you know, post on the game-threads without distraction… :P
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
first Goodman, now Buffett?
yikes!
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
while I'm baring my... musical preferences
I despise the Eagles, too.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
I hate the f'ing Eagles man!....
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Get outa my Cab!!

Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008

drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
lol oh lord.....
:) Obviously your not a golfer….
Lou In Blue - May 16, 2008
no, I'm not
I’d do better throwing the golf-ball around the course.
I even suck at video golf.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
could take or leave 'em
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
I agree about Buffet and the Eagles...
...but I give Steve Goodman a pass because he’s part of Cubs history.
daver - May 16, 2008
that's pretty much how I feel.
and I like to sing in the shower; when the Cubs win and I’m at the game, it’s just like that, except that I’m not naked.
Except in my dreams…
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Agreed,
but Boston remains a guilty pleasure.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
It's More than a Feeling!
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Just listened to that on the bus today!
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
I listen to ELO when the Cubs win....
Straaaaaaaaaaaaane Maaaagic…....gota….Strange….MaaaAAaaagic.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
WHAT????? ;-)
sue369 - May 16, 2008
Defame Goodman?!
Have you listened to any of his stuff? Lincoln Park Pirates? A Dying Cubs Fan’s Last Request? For shame!
Emelie - May 16, 2008
The City of New Orleans . . .
You Never Even Called Me By My Name
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
Strawman Alert!
I never said word one about Steve Goodman. I just said “Go Cubs Go” is a bad song.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Oh... in that case
...channeling emily litella… never mind!
Emelie - May 16, 2008
because
it’s shortly after we sing “take me out to the ballgame” at the ballgame
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008
touche
joeschmitt - May 16, 2008
Don't ask, just sing
AlabamaCubFan - May 16, 2008
The song used to be part of the WGN pregame show.
That’s what it was composed for, anyway.
cwyers - May 16, 2008
Who are you, Andy Rooney?
daver - May 16, 2008

joeschmitt - May 16, 2008

gary varsho - May 16, 2008

gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Yup, that's where I got it.
Have you picked up their album yet? Most of their best stuff is on there.

One final update from the Buc's Dugout game thread:
daver - May 16, 2008
Lou says its pretty simple... You pitch well, you get the ball.
MinnesotaFan - May 16, 2008
Gallagher is pitching against Houston
next time around
cubs ftw - May 16, 2008
Cubs 10 over .500
First time since Sept. 24, 2007. Nice work boys.
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
That long ago?
McRipper - May 16, 2008
In spite of Soriano too!
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
he's such
a non-clutch hitter. Only cares about himself. What a hack.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
He contributes nothing. Except, y'know, the home runs and stuff.
daver - May 16, 2008
I was especially upset with the way he selfishly padded his own stats today.
northsider - May 16, 2008
that's selfish hitting
that is.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
But I will
say he’s getting pretty good at guessing. :D
sue369 - May 16, 2008
that would imply he has a skill
he’s just lucky to be that good at guessing.
drewishdrewid - May 16, 2008
Hoping this is the last post?
Third reply to last post!
Shanghai Badger - May 16, 2008

We'll be right

sue369 - May 16, 2008
Last Post...
Last Supper.
santoswoodenlegs - May 16, 2008
Wanna know a good story about that painting?
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
The guy in the center is Jim Edmonds? :-)
zevkalman - May 16, 2008
It's apocryphal, so take it FWIW.
The guy replies, “You should, you used me for Jesus a while ago.” So, the story goes, in this painting, Judas and Jesus are the same person.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Not Johnny Damon?
digitalbenjamin - May 16, 2008
All of you are attention whores
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
Is that better or worse than a stat whore?
daver - May 16, 2008
Damn, good question.
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
This post is irony in action.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Because you've always seen me
comment “First post,” or striving for acceptance, right?
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
Well,
there are your hilarious Soriano AB posts….
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
Yeah, because that's striving for attention
not about the posters here who jump the shark
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
( wink wink )
NittanyCub - May 16, 2008
Understood.
gary varsho - May 16, 2008
