It seems like the entire Chicago media is in a fight with one another. North and Teddy. Jay with everyone. Murp with Boers and Bernstein have always disliked each other.

I wish Lawrence Holmes would get a show. All this crap is starting to annoy me with these ego driven media members. I feel like every media member in this town has an underlying motive which doesn’t allow them to be objective. I know I shouldn’t bring it up if it annoys me but it appears there really isn’t much to talk about today.

I know that,

I’m takling about an everyday show where he has a partner. I think very few people can have a solo show and no one at the score is capable, Holmes is the closest I think. The only guy that ever pulled it off in my mind was Dan Patrick.

Holmes is good, IMO.

But I can see how he’d benefit from a partner, as he tends to lapse into monologue a lot and ignores callers. Waddle and Silvie on AM 1000 is the only show I can listen to from beginning to end.

Only Way Game Could Work

This is the last year for this game. The only way it could be interesting would be to have MLB teams with affiliates in the International League and Eastern League to play in this game. You could see good AAA and AA players that way. That’s a moot point now as 2008 will the mark the end of the Hall of Fame game.

I couldn’t care less if Doubleday or Cartwright or whomever “invented” baseball. The HOF in Cooperstown is a special place and EVERYONE who says they’re a baseball fan should go one day.

Last night, ESPN was reporting it as two errors on Utley. The change was in order, IMO, though.

It was a tough way to lose a game...

but that play is a weird one anyway…and to have it happen twice in one game is even stranger. You just don’t see the 4-1 putout that often.

This game is a detriment to the overall team, as everybody had to travel. Also, jetlag may begin to rear its ugly head after two takeoffs/landings. I’d hate it if the team shows signs of fatigue in the upcoming series because of this exhibition shindig.
P.S. It’s good to be back in Chicago and I’m saddened to read 720AM doesn’t have the game.

Well the busy travel day certainly sucks

Why not use recently retired players for the game? It would probably draw more interest than a bunch a minor leaguers playing.

Remind me again why we're playing an exhibition game

in the middle of the season? I’m not necessarily trying to bash the game, just don’t understand why the game wasn’t played after the WS or during spring training.

My thoughts exactly.

Remember that great line from Seinfeld: “We’re trying to have a civilization here, George!” Well, we’re trying to win a division here, Bud! (And, yes, I know this is the last Hall of Fame game, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying.)

Game would probably be a lot better received generally

and might have survived if it had been played post-WS. Think about it. One more chance for fans to get their baseball fix.

First Spring Training game, get it nationally televised, first chance for said fix.

Instead, you have a match-up that (a) few care about and (b) just pisses off fans and players of any contending team playing in it.

arbitrarily decides to add one more round of playoffs to which ever league plays the HOF game? The winner gets an automatic 1 game playoff game at the conclusion of the season against the Wildcard team! Then mlb baseball could market the HOF game as “THIS TIME…IT COUNTS A WHOLE BUNCH!”

They BOTH get to play the Wild Card team.

Leagues swap every year, and teams rotate

backwards alphabetically. The A’s play the Yakees, then the Astros play the Rockies. After the list is exhausted, the next letter in the name is used. If the winner of the HOF game is a playoff team at the end of the year….then the loser of the game get’s the playoff game. If both teams are playoff teams….then the Yankees are automatically awarded a playoff spot and home-field throughout. Easy.
