because it will add insult to injury watching hawk and dj on WGN, this is gonna be painful. And I try listening to Pat and Ron but its so far behind it gets difficult to tolerate
looks at an awful alot of pitches. Alot of them that he looks at are hittable pitches. I hope he snaps out of it, because he is a potent bat and the leader of this team. If he doesn’t swing the bat well he makes our lineup look alot weaker.
We don’t have Matt Murton, Felix Pie and Josh Kroeger on the 40 man roster? I must be in the wrong team’s game thread. Excuse me while I go find the Cubs’ game thread.
but wow it caught on a lot more then I expected that to go, I had a buddy that told me it was because people want him to come “OnDeck” cause hes always on the bench, and I thought that was stupid
for hating on Theriot EVEN when hes on the bench. We know one thing is for sure, we are going to have less base runners today. So many negative neds today in here
I just had a customer come in and ask if the game was on..
then he asked which announcers i was listening to.. I told him it was the Cubs guys and he said thank god, those other guys are horrible. I just loved the fact he was coming in for his shoes and he asked about the baseball game!!
of course he has little if any practice for about 10 days. However HE IS THE ONLY LEFT FIELDER WE HAVE so might have been nice if Lou had figured that out before the game started. You don’t like Murton and is his .295 career than find ANOTHER left fielder but don’t let E-Pat out there
Bad news is that this was by far the most advantageous pitching match up the Cubs had for the series
twice. He’s a rookie, he’s going to make mistakes. This is the best team in the league, and they lead in come-from-behind wins. There’s plenty of time to get to Contreras. Step away from the ledge.
This is really not E-Pats fault. Lou continues to put him where he should not be and act like Murton is not even on the team. He is ruining both of them at once. Can’t watch the game but I expect the only reason Ward does not yet have an error is not enough chances DEFENSE MATTERS.
Ill give Epatt a few bad games, I mean DLee has played like shit lately and noone is calling for his ass to go to Iowa for leaving 5000000 men on base in the last month
i’m sorry, that is one of the dumbest things i’ve ever heard on here… why the hell would you send Lee to Iowa? while we’re at it we might as well send Zambrano to Peoria, Soto to the Arizona Fall League, and Lou can go manage Daytona… come on, use your head
i might not be very vocal here often, but that is a just a ridiculously moronic comment… I understand a knee-jerk reaction, but still… you don’t go sending all-star players to AAA because they had a bad month…
Honestly, some people need to be heard that some of their opinions are straight up retarded. We’re all adults here—for the most part. If you can’t handle your opinion being ridiculed, then don’t post.
This isn’t the American school system: if you suck, you should be called out on this blog for sucking.
I would never do that, but people were loving Epat about 3 days ago, LOVING him, he makes a couple bad plays and he will forever be on people shit list… Just like Theriot.
Good night....the dirty shirted White Sux fans can jeer and cheer today.....
cripes…...looks like back to back suck for the Cubbies…...unbelievable last two games….I blame most of the players out there for the last two games but heavily falls on pitching and general heads up our butts play…..ick
Just some crappy plays from the outfield and infield
Patterson and Fontenot with two simple mistakes, and while it doesn’t account for everything, it adds up. At least we can see what Lieber can do in a long-relief situation for once.
If people can’t understand that, well too bad. Am I jumping off the ledge, no. But, I am concerned with our left fielder and our slumping no make that “slumped” first baseman. We are playing bad baseball and that makes me upset. I don’t have to bring out pom poms every time the Cubs play.
But you do understand it’s a long season, and there will be highs and lows. At least I hope you understand it. This team is a bit banged-up right now. Another week or so and things will look better.
when our starting LF and RF are injured to semi-injured, when the current players occupying their position have below-average arms?
Ballclubs go through slumps. The Cubs have been hotter than cow dung for the majority of this season: a 5-5 of last 10 isn’t even that bad of a slump. But, for those new trendy Cubs that are coming through the grape vines this year, then yeah, it’s catastrophic.
You don’t have to bring out pom poms every day, but people don’t have to scream bloody murder as well. Giving out criticism is great, especially if it’s constructive criticism. But there’s a fine line between that and moaning and groaning like a 12 year old—which does absolutely nothing for absolutely no one
John Lieber will get to finish the inning…and after his effecent .2 innings of work… Lou will pull him and use Howry, Wertz, Marmol, and Wood to finish the game.
expose the injuries and weaknesses NOW, before the trading deadline while the Cubs can still do something about it.
It is just one game. Lou knows that teams go through funks during a 162 game schedule.
But with injuries coming out now, they can hopefully make moves to adjust. Let’s stay calm. Marmol seems to be figuring things out. Hopefully D-GIDP-Lee will figure things out too!!
Frustrating last two games (DUH) but at least the All-Star break is coming....
just hope we don’t let STL and MIL get closer by then…..looks like we are entering one of the first really bad stretches of play….let’s keep it a mini-slump instead of a collapse…..guess it is more frustrating because we saw most of this opening half of the season a much better team out there…..lots of dumb stuff happening to us right now…......my biggest problem right now is DLee’s crashing slump…..
Our expectations are high but that is partly because we still have the best record in baseball....
so we got used to seeing the best of this team….but every baseball team also shows its ugly side during the long season….just hope to keep the slumpy times to a minimum….if we are still struggling like this by mid to late July then maybe we can start totally freaking out…..
but I think DLee has been the ultimate problem the last few days. If he makes one out instead of two all the time we could have been in every one of those games. I’m frustrated because he has been one of my favorite players for years. Even today, if he puts the ball in play we score. Changes the tone of the game.
That’s why, for his own good as well as the team’s, Pinella HAS TO move him down in the order-it certainly isn’t helping to run him out there everyday and watch his brutal hitting in clutch situations-I’m at the point whee I’m hoping he’ll “only” strike out when he comes up because then at least we have Ramirez up next.

NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
because EPat is the lesser poison
Since when Murton got known for his defense?

NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
Well, since when has he been known to muck up?
He had 4 errors in all of 2006 when he was used as a regular in ‘06. His FP and RFg is good as well.
I don’t think you know what you’re talking about with Matt Murton as a “bad” outfielder.
NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
Murton is average
of course he has little if any practice for about 10 days.
However HE IS THE ONLY LEFT FIELDER WE HAVE so might have been nice
if Lou had figured that out before the game started. You don’t like Murton and is his
.295 career than find ANOTHER left fielder but don’t let E-Pat out there
Bad news is that this was by far the most advantageous pitching match up the Cubs had for the

NittanyCub - June 27, 2008

cubsnlinux - June 27, 2008
Down by 8 - right where we want 'em
Last Friday of the month = 8-run comeback day, right?
ChipSet - June 27, 2008
Sure, why not
sue369 - June 27, 2008
wotthehell... we've done it before!
Emelie - June 27, 2008
Let me guess
That was Eric Pattersons fault right? While were at it we might as well blame Theriot on the bench?!
SouthsideCUBSfan - June 27, 2008
Wow.
Patterson now gives up a HR. Oopps.
Unique - June 27, 2008
Has
over 70 pitches and only the 3rd inning. Not good.
tucsoncubsfan - June 27, 2008
Yikes. With apologies to Major League:
Dempster has walked the bases loaded.
Larry: Should I go get him?
Lou: No, let’s see how he responds.
Dempster has given up a grand slam to Nick Swisher. Sox lead 8-0.
Lou: You can go get him now…
northsider - June 27, 2008
LOL
Lou In Blue - June 27, 2008
At least you didn't go with the "Back up the truck" rant from ML2

Fukudometer - June 27, 2008
I guess Ken Harrelson doesn't know how to count
4 + 4 = 8
4 + 4 = 9… to White Sox Announcers.
Dumbass
NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
LMAO
gary varsho - June 27, 2008
If you were listening to his comments before
He was referencing to the 9th grand slam in the cub/sox series.
After saying that, he did say that STEVE Swisher hit the grand slam.
brewfan2 - June 27, 2008
Good night....the dirty shirted White Sux fans can jeer and cheer today.....
cripes…...looks like back to back suck for the Cubbies…...unbelievable last two games….I blame most of the players out there for the last two games but heavily falls on pitching and general heads up our butts play…..ick
razzpunk - June 27, 2008
You are just
a fucking ray of sunshine.
sue369 - June 27, 2008
Razzpunk...you've hit the jackpot...
Sue is cursing at you.
santoswoodenlegs - June 27, 2008
Good News!
The Cub pitchers only have to throw 8 innings today!
Goat Whisperer - June 27, 2008
pathetic
play again today. Injuries are catching up. Poor fundamental play from the rooks. This could be a very long weekend.
Slakkr - June 27, 2008
Just some crappy plays from the outfield and infield
Patterson and Fontenot with two simple mistakes, and while it doesn’t account for everything, it adds up. At least we can see what Lieber can do in a long-relief situation for once.
NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
I am sorry this game is frustrating
If people can’t understand that, well too bad. Am I jumping off the ledge, no. But, I am concerned with our left fielder and our slumping no make that “slumped” first baseman. We are playing bad baseball and that makes me upset. I don’t have to bring out pom poms every time the Cubs play.
mgfabc - June 27, 2008
LSA! LSA!!!! LSA!!!!!
plenz - June 27, 2008
I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!
I’m sorry, BUT I’M UPSET!
Fukudometer - June 27, 2008
Nobody's shaking pom-pons
But you do understand it’s a long season, and there will be highs and lows. At least I hope you understand it. This team is a bit banged-up right now. Another week or so and things will look better.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 27, 2008
You're concerned about this game
when our starting LF and RF are injured to semi-injured, when the current players occupying their position have below-average arms?
Ballclubs go through slumps. The Cubs have been hotter than cow dung for the majority of this season: a 5-5 of last 10 isn’t even that bad of a slump. But, for those new trendy Cubs that are coming through the grape vines this year, then yeah, it’s catastrophic.
You don’t have to bring out pom poms every day, but people don’t have to scream bloody murder as well. Giving out criticism is great, especially if it’s constructive criticism. But there’s a fine line between that and moaning and groaning like a 12 year old—which does absolutely nothing for absolutely no one
NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
There's no sense trying to reason with them
they run exclusively on emotions… life’s more exciting that way, doncha know
Emelie - June 27, 2008
Well its still early though....
Chip away at the lead
Lou In Blue - June 27, 2008
Hey Look...
John Lieber will get to finish the inning…and after his effecent .2 innings of work… Lou will pull him and use Howry, Wertz, Marmol, and Wood to finish the game.
santoswoodenlegs - June 27, 2008
Werd
Lou In Blue - June 27, 2008
lol
Jon Lieber, but still. Maybe Marmol can go 2 innings today!
northsider - June 27, 2008
All I can say is Pinella better get this figured out fast
or this season has the potential to completely fall apart on us
bluekoolaide - June 27, 2008
Oh, shut up
I’m out of here. Too many asinine posters with no perspective and no grip on reality.
Have fun with your pity party, kids.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 27, 2008
Why don't YOU shut up?
Some of us are actually BOTHERED by the Cubs losing-
bluekoolaide - June 27, 2008
who isn't bothered?
but it’s not a crippling blow to the season or anything.
drewishdrewid - June 27, 2008
Then please start
your own fanpost on the side so we don’t have to hear your bitching.
sue369 - June 27, 2008
Sorry, I forgot
the “real’ Cub fans never complain about anything the Cubs do
bluekoolaide - June 27, 2008
Sure we complain
but just not nonstop.
sue369 - June 27, 2008
nobody SAID that.
drewishdrewid - June 27, 2008
figured out???
Like a healthy Soriano
a healthy Kosuke
and a 1b not slumping
pretty easy to figure out dude
plenz - June 27, 2008
lol
northsider - June 27, 2008

wow. just wow.
drewishdrewid - June 27, 2008

take notes on the Swisher at bat? That’s what you do with the bases loaded.

Jon Lieber a starter?
Hmmmmm
Lou In Blue - June 27, 2008
Better
to play like shit now than in August and Sept
plenz - June 27, 2008
Obviously this wouldn't have happened if Eric Patterson wasn't such a bad pitcher.
You know who we need? RICH. FREAKING. HARDEN.

Jimmyeatworld - June 27, 2008

Access granted.
No Denial. See below
Jimmyeatworld - June 27, 2008
ba dum twssss
cubsnlinux - June 27, 2008
Hahahahahahahaha!!!!
We need Harden, Sabathia, and God playing short. At least.
This might cost the Cubs their whole farm system.
NittanyCub - June 27, 2008
God is lefthanded...
he’s a natural corner outfielder.
santoswoodenlegs - June 27, 2008
Look at the bright side of all this...
expose the injuries and weaknesses NOW, before the trading deadline while the Cubs can still do something about it.
It is just one game. Lou knows that teams go through funks during a 162 game schedule.
But with injuries coming out now, they can hopefully make moves to adjust. Let’s stay calm. Marmol seems to be figuring things out. Hopefully D-GIDP-Lee will figure things out too!!
Go Cubs!!
LAcarl519 - June 27, 2008
Okay, that's the first encouraging thing I've heard
bluekoolaide - June 27, 2008
Thank you!
sue369 - June 27, 2008
Friday afternoon down by 8
Crappy pitcher on the opposing mound… where have I heard this before?
Chubby Hugs - June 27, 2008
:D
Exactly
Emelie - June 27, 2008
Frustrating last two games (DUH) but at least the All-Star break is coming....
just hope we don’t let STL and MIL get closer by then…..looks like we are entering one of the first really bad stretches of play….let’s keep it a mini-slump instead of a collapse…..guess it is more frustrating because we saw most of this opening half of the season a much better team out there…..lots of dumb stuff happening to us right now…......my biggest problem right now is DLee’s crashing slump…..
razzpunk - June 27, 2008
I agree
Lee is my single biggest worry right now-maybe it’s going to take a six or seven game losing streak to force Pinella to put him in the 5 spot
bluekoolaide - June 27, 2008
the problem here is
high expectations. We expect to win. We expect them to win EVERY GAME.
It’s impossible.
And frankly, I’d rather get beaten by another first-place team than… Baltimore.
drewishdrewid - June 27, 2008
SA
JohnM - June 27, 2008
Just like yesterday
I can’t believe we’re going through this two days in a row
Mapmaker - June 27, 2008
Despite the favorable match-up
In hindsight, Dempster was more “due” than an expecting mother at 42 weeks.
Also, the best outfielder was playing DH and the best DH was playing outfield.
Man, is Cedeno auditioning today or what?
JohnM - June 27, 2008
Our expectations are high but that is partly because we still have the best record in baseball....
so we got used to seeing the best of this team….but every baseball team also shows its ugly side during the long season….just hope to keep the slumpy times to a minimum….if we are still struggling like this by mid to late July then maybe we can start totally freaking out…..
razzpunk - June 27, 2008
Great catch.
Jimmyeatworld - June 27, 2008
GREAT PLAY BY CEDENO> THAT'S WHAT A ML SS LOOKS LIKE!!!!!!!!!
gary varsho - June 27, 2008
Freakin awesome
sue369 - June 27, 2008
Now that type of play at SS could get Theriot more time on the bench.
Jimmyeatworld - June 27, 2008
Finally something to cheer about
Let’s get some runs!
Mapmaker - June 27, 2008
Can we combine Cedeno's D with Theriot's offense?
Jimmyeatworld - June 27, 2008
Put them in a cement mixer
and you’ll get TheDeno or CeRiot. I like the latter. One hell of a ballplayer. :-)
LAcarl519 - June 27, 2008
I know this has been beaten to death
but I think DLee has been the ultimate problem the last few days. If he makes one out instead of two all the time we could have been in every one of those games. I’m frustrated because he has been one of my favorite players for years. Even today, if he puts the ball in play we score. Changes the tone of the game.
mgfabc - June 27, 2008
Right
That’s why, for his own good as well as the team’s, Pinella HAS TO move him down in the order-it certainly isn’t helping to run him out there everyday and watch his brutal hitting in clutch situations-I’m at the point whee I’m hoping he’ll “only” strike out when he comes up because then at least we have Ramirez up next.
bluekoolaide - June 27, 2008
you don't move
your All-Star first-baseman down in the order.
drewishdrewid - June 27, 2008
well the once all star is playing like a shit star for the past few games..
cubsnlinux - June 27, 2008
and he will come back.
This is the same “discussion” we had about Soriano, over and freakin’ over again.
drewishdrewid - June 27, 2008
Totally agree.
Jimmyeatworld - June 27, 2008
How do we not have any runs yet?
