the worst thing that ever could have happend to Cedeno is the boost in confidence from April. He takes at bats for granted. He thinks pitchers are actually going to pitch him hard. They throw heat and they keep it around the plate. He needs to understand how to take a better approach. More like the scrappy one.
Well, I was encouraged to see our 2-0 lead when I flipped on the TV....
then I saw Vasquez suddenly turn it around and retire the next 3 batters and I was like, “Oh well, we will get more in the next few. Just hold em Gallagher.” and then almost as if on cue Jermaine Dye and Joe Crede step up and poop all over my good feelings…....plus we have 2 FOX broadcasters who hold grudges against the Cubs don’t help things….and looks like another starting pitcher is gonna be suck-tac-ular….Alexi Ramirez double….jesus!!!!
I thought it was bad karma to mention this on the blog but e mailed a few folks including Al that Lou was SCREWING around with Gallagher by pitching him ON EIGHT DAYS REST. An extra day can be a good thing an extra 4 days messes pitchers up and this is far from the first time Lou has done this. He has ZERO understanding of how to use pitchers. He hates Marquis and wants to keep away from facing the White Sox, nice thought bad execution He claims he wants Dempster to get an EXTRA start before AS so he leapfrogs him in the rotation
Of course his management of pitchers is no better than his use of postition players. Speed is GOOD, Defense in a luxury so forget using people who can field their positions where they should be used. Look I am not the sky is falling type and it is NOT falling but Lou has been screwing this team up since the start of the season and I admit I have been ranting about it since then I have no idea what Hendry can do to explain things like do not play E-Pat in the out field and don’ t use your entire bench in 9 innings etc. Instead of helping starters , he helps destroy them.
I feel like a broken record because I have been angry at Lou since the first game I went to this year. Winning is covering up a lot and I still say they win DESPITE Lou not because of him. Ok I know he is not getting fired but something has to change.
I hatehatehatehatehatehatehate Fox for thinking that the nation actually cares about what happens between two terrible teams just because those teams come from New York, sending me to XM, b/c I forgot it would be the CWS feed, therefore almost making me vomit, forcing me to watch Gameday on a Saturday, which is one of the few times I usually get to actually watch or listen to a Cubs game in the afternoon.
Sorry for the rant, but it’s really irritating me right now. Back to baseball.
Lou keeps messing with the rotation. He’s been moved up, back, and sideways. It would have been much easier on everyone if he would have left Gallagher before Dempster. Lou is really over-managing considering it’s only June.
There where no rain outs or problems , just Lou messing around Ok he wanted to move up Marquis to Thursday to keep him out of the series no problem . How bout Gallagher pitched WED on 5 days rest and that would give you Lilly, Dempster and Marshall . Young pitchers need a little constistancy and support which in fairness does not give older pitchers either. He has always been known ( back to Seattle days) as a bad manager for pitchers,
but you didn’t want to blame Dempster for yesterday, either. Yes, Lou is culpable, as was the defense yesterday. But you can’t just absolve the SPs when they have SO much of an impact on hte outcome of the game.
Can someone else figure out what Gallagher’s major league out pitch is? That’s right, he doesn’t have one. 94 up in the zone gets hammered at this level and that little marginal slider isn’t going to get it done. Either get the ball down, find an off-speed pitch or settle in as a middle reliever at best.
And some of you don’t want to trade him? Why? He’s marginal on his best days and age has nothing to do with it. He’s just not that good.
That’s pretty funny. But the numbers don’t lie…and they are only going to get worse. You want to jump off after the boat is half sunk fine, but watching a little bit of baseball can easily show you that Gallagher just isn’t very good.
Santo's voice filled with disgust......I love him for his Cubbie Or Die attitude but....
he sure doesn’t help me maintain a sense of staying cool when watching a game…..but he wears his heart on his sleeve which is better than dry, analytical announcing.
Another rally dies! Seems like that is happening lots lately......frustration is creeping in....
can we just skip ahead to after the All-Star break when we are back at full strength???? Just one of those times during the season I guess but it would be nice if this slumpiness doesn’t last so long. Crede may you rot!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAAAAWWD!!!
Bad, foul, yucky luck + injuries + some shaky starting pitching + some players pressing....
AND we get to listen two announcers who secretly want to see the Cubs lose and well….it makes for a fun Saturday afternoon….on cue Dye gets a lead off hit…..
but when he announced at Wrigley recently, he came off like a complete homer. He wants to be back in the good books in Chicago. And MacPhail is long gone.
Hendry must love him for helping lower the trade value of E-Pat, Murton and now Gallagher. He sticks E-Pat where he does not belong scaring off the buyers, basically never plays Murton so who KNOWS how he can play THIS year and mucks up Gallagher per above.
I am going home and off the internet. If we stall the game maybe the rain will come. ( or we could score a bunch of runs)
I would love to stop by and say hello My Wrigley record is 4-1. I hate to sound like Blue Mike re Lou but he is driving me nuts, this is a hell of a team let’s not mess it up.
LIGHT 'IM UP!

LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
Well HE IS TO BLAME
I thought it was bad karma to mention this on the blog but e mailed a few folks
including Al that Lou was SCREWING around with Gallagher by pitching him ON EIGHT
DAYS REST. An extra day can be a good thing an extra 4 days messes pitchers up and this
is far from the first time Lou has done this. He has ZERO understanding of how to use pitchers.
He hates Marquis and wants to keep away from facing the White Sox, nice thought bad execution
He claims he wants Dempster to get an EXTRA start before AS so he leapfrogs him in the rotation
Of course his management of pitchers is no better than his use of postition players. Speed is
GOOD, Defense in a luxury so forget using people who can field their positions where they should
be used. Look I am not the sky is falling type and it is NOT falling but Lou has been screwing this team
up since the start of the season and I admit I have been ranting about it since then
I have no idea what Hendry can do to explain things like do not play E-Pat in the out field and don’ t use your entire bench in 9 innings etc. Instead of helping starters , he helps destroy them.
Someone has to get to Lou .

Even his pitches off the plate are getting crushed.
DTJchris - June 28, 2008
Lou: "How about you fucking throw your best pitch when you have 2 strikes..."
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
Lou
Was dropping some major f-bombs there
Galvan316 - June 28, 2008
I am almost expecting a Lou-splosion if this keeps up!!!
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
Just to say this, b/c I have to
I hatehatehatehatehatehatehate Fox for thinking that the nation actually cares about what happens between two terrible teams just because those teams come from New York, sending me to XM, b/c I forgot it would be the CWS feed, therefore almost making me vomit, forcing me to watch Gameday on a Saturday, which is one of the few times I usually get to actually watch or listen to a Cubs game in the afternoon.
Sorry for the rant, but it’s really irritating me right now. Back to baseball.
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...
northsider - June 28, 2008
Again, had to say it, but yes, that's it for now...
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
we're here for you cocknfire
Emelie - June 28, 2008
Fly ball out....
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
Eric Patterson: that's how you get the ball back into the infield
JohnM - June 28, 2008
Fukudome was really charging on that fly ball out
may be the whole team heard a earful from Lou about giving up base on fly ball outs
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Aye
JohnM - June 28, 2008
Cabrera with the double...
Gallagher’s fooling no one, run scores
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
gallagher's very predictable
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Christ....now a Cabrera double......wow......when things go bad they go bad fast!!!
What is up with Gally today?? He is in huge trouble and Lou may make him take one for the team….yuck…..
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
c'mon sean
Emelie - June 28, 2008
This is disgusting
Galvan316 - June 28, 2008
Nice one Sean!
JFCubFan - June 28, 2008
The Jackass strikes out, 2 down
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
well said...
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
good pitch to k out AJ
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
That high fastball almost over Soto's heard isn't fooling anyone.
But the low and on the corner strike to AJ was kind of nice.
Cubfansince1957 - June 28, 2008
I can't blame Gallagher
Lou keeps messing with the rotation. He’s been moved up, back, and sideways. It would have been much easier on everyone if he would have left Gallagher before Dempster. Lou is really over-managing considering it’s only June.
DeRoMyHero - June 28, 2008
This is big leagues...you are not going to get a baby sitter and barbie doll to play with
you got to suck it up and play professionally. Lou will do whatever that makes sense for the team.
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
No big league pitchers
are asked to go on 8 days rest and keep sharp short of an injury so I sure as hell can
blame him.
Doggie Stalker - June 28, 2008
All your points are good
but fifth starters DO have this happen to them from time to time as they re-jig the rotation due to days off, match ups and injuries.
JohnM - June 28, 2008
But it is not like this had to happen
There where no rain outs or problems , just Lou messing around
Ok he wanted to move up Marquis to Thursday to keep him out of the series
no problem . How bout Gallagher pitched WED on 5 days rest and that would give you
Lilly, Dempster and Marshall . Young pitchers need a little constistancy and support which
in fairness does not give older pitchers either. He has always been known ( back to Seattle days) as a bad manager for pitchers,
Doggie Stalker - June 28, 2008
lou does have to piece it together
with z out, i don’t blame him for shuffling it up… but sean has been tugged in a few different directions.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
No offense
but you didn’t want to blame Dempster for yesterday, either. Yes, Lou is culpable, as was the defense yesterday. But you can’t just absolve the SPs when they have SO much of an impact on hte outcome of the game.
JohnM - June 28, 2008
I'll take Lou's over managing over Dusty's....
Put the veterans in and make the pitchers throw 115 pitches every game anytime!
Cubfansince1957 - June 28, 2008
Gallagher's out pitch?
Can someone else figure out what Gallagher’s major league out pitch is? That’s right, he doesn’t have one. 94 up in the zone gets hammered at this level and that little marginal slider isn’t going to get it done. Either get the ball down, find an off-speed pitch or settle in as a middle reliever at best.
And some of you don’t want to trade him? Why? He’s marginal on his best days and age has nothing to do with it. He’s just not that good.
krummy12 - June 28, 2008
Relax.
Good thing you’re not a GM.
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 28, 2008
Funny
That’s pretty funny. But the numbers don’t lie…and they are only going to get worse. You want to jump off after the boat is half sunk fine, but watching a little bit of baseball can easily show you that Gallagher just isn’t very good.
krummy12 - June 28, 2008
Santo's voice filled with disgust......I love him for his Cubbie Or Die attitude but....
he sure doesn’t help me maintain a sense of staying cool when watching a game…..but he wears his heart on his sleeve which is better than dry, analytical announcing.
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
You should hear ME watching a game! I could never be a color man
unless the color you are looking for is blue! lol
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
Gallagher
has good stuff today. Just a few bad pitches. He’ll settle in. Up to the offense today though.
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 28, 2008
Crazy
Quit listening to Mark Grace. No matter what he says, thigh high fast balls and spinning breaking balls that get hammered are not good pitches.
krummy12 - June 28, 2008
+1
Galvan316 - June 28, 2008
A few bad pitches...
The Ramirez double was on a decent pitch.
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 28, 2008
Quentin grounds out 6-3 inning mercifully over...
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
Well, we're out the inning now...
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
let's get some runs...now!
before I have to take my dogs for another walk.
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
yep, I am still worried about our offense
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
like 7, maybe
JFCubFan - June 28, 2008
He'll settle in when?
When he gives up 6 more Runs?
I was the one who said the Sux need this game more then we do but Jesus Christ this is disgusting.
Galvan316 - June 28, 2008
DeRo, first pitch swining, grounds out, 1 down
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
Remember that Gallagher rarely makes it past the 5th.
So, if he stinks up an inning or two that has a lot more impact than if someone who gets into the 7th.
And why is DeRosa swinging on the first pitch?
Cubfansince1957 - June 28, 2008
1st pitch swinging..DeRo..GO ..6-3
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Lee can't hit into a DP now :-)
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
lol thats very true
FLCubsGirl - June 28, 2008
White Sox fans, enjoying Mark?
How many of them are there? All three of them?
Cubfansince1957 - June 28, 2008
Lee is gonna go yard today, I can feel it
dtpollitt - June 28, 2008

You think so, Thom?
northsider - June 28, 2008

Cubfansince1957 - June 28, 2008

Lee's swing is still awful
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
E6 LOL
northsider - June 28, 2008
Hit? What??
northsider - June 28, 2008
they gave him a hit and based on the bad hop, have to agree. that thing just jumped on Cabrera
ballhawk - June 28, 2008
Lee..hits a weak grounder to six and the ball takes a wierd hop and Lee to 1st
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Basehit, bad hop, DLee
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
Some bad storms heading into the Chicago area in a hour or so..
mmancubfan - June 28, 2008
Maybe a refreshing rain delay
Could cool off the Sux bats!
Goodie1969 - June 28, 2008
ward takes a pitch right down the middle
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
b/c everyone just yelled at DeRo for swinging
at the first pitch.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
Gameday says Lee's ball was "deflected" by Cabrera to the CF...LOL
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
That DLee grounder was a very typical grounder to SS-3B that we see when there is a runner on 1st.
Luckily it took a bad hop for us and there was no one on…..maybe we can put some up in the wind now and get that lead back!!!!
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
true
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
vazquez is not looking good today. We just have to be patient and should not miss the bad ones
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Dward base hit, 2 runners on
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
basehit ward..1st and 2nd..1 out..

I still think he will have a big game.
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
Don't you wish Daryle Ward had a good glove?
And could be an everyday player?
Cubfansince1957 - June 28, 2008

razzpunk - June 28, 2008
Soriano's a mutant? Cool!
What’s his special skill? the hop?
And does that make Jim Hendry Professor Xavier?
ballhawk - June 28, 2008
Is that a Tekken reference on BCB?
JohnM - June 28, 2008
X-Men reference actually....I am a DWEEEEEEB!
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
"what do they call you, wheels?
ballhawk - June 28, 2008
Ah
Tekken (video game) had fighters with special skills, plenty of mutants, and lots of crazy professor types.

BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008

cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008

Geo Slam?
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
It was a nice thought ;)
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
Another rally dies! Seems like that is happening lots lately......frustration is creeping in....
can we just skip ahead to after the All-Star break when we are back at full strength???? Just one of those times during the season I guess but it would be nice if this slumpiness doesn’t last so long. Crede may you rot!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAAAAWWD!!!
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
Crede does his best Brooks Robinson
inning over
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
Great catch by Crede..Dang..Rally killer
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008

Dude. Not cool.
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
that's absolutely unacceptable
Emelie - June 28, 2008
any way you can erase that?
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
Yeah. Really really bad choice of words...to say the least
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
we are running into some worst luck
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Ugh. No luck/clutch hits lately...
Geo hit it well, from what y’all are saying, but the luck comes back
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
Lucky pricks
that should have been two runs. I hate Crede. I hate Vazquez. I hate them all.
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 28, 2008
Tip your hat
They arnt in !st for nothing.
Crede possible gold glover
cubbierc - June 28, 2008
with his 14 errors and .936 fielding percentage? Um, no.
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
if we keep hitting the ball like Soto did
in that at bat, good things will happen.
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
agreed
:-)
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
Grace on Crede "He's the best, just give him the gold glove right now"
.....Um Mark, he leads the ML in errors at 3b.
Dont bother with the facts
JB 23 - June 28, 2008
That was a ridiculous comment...
shocking.
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 28, 2008
Hmmm....
Has Mark Grace never seen Eric Chavez play?????
DeRoMyHero - June 28, 2008
Mike Lowell as well....
JB 23 - June 28, 2008
Great catch. Bastard.
louslovechild - June 28, 2008
that would have tied the game
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
As long as we can shut the door from here on out
we’ll come back. Sean needs to dial it up a notch.
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
Can anyone tell me why Lou took Ramirez out of the 4th spot.
He hits like crap in the five hole
louslovechild - June 28, 2008
why ..just because 5 is an unlucky number for him..Edmunds is protecting him either way
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Bad, foul, yucky luck + injuries + some shaky starting pitching + some players pressing....
AND we get to listen two announcers who secretly want to see the Cubs lose and well….it makes for a fun Saturday afternoon….on cue Dye gets a lead off hit…..
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
Only one announcer wants the Cubs to lose
JohnM - June 28, 2008
I don't know about Gracie....he probably holds some ill will towards Cubbie management....
or he’s just drunk…...
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
OK, I'm not listening to them too closely
but when he announced at Wrigley recently, he came off like a complete homer. He wants to be back in the good books in Chicago. And MacPhail is long gone.
JohnM - June 28, 2008
they arent making any secret of it IMO
....DId you hear Thom spewing the 1908 crap earlier?
JB 23 - June 28, 2008
you're a little ray of sunshine, huh?
wow.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
We are gonna rally!!!!!!
razzpunk - June 28, 2008
basehit ..dye
cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Dye LOVES Cubs pitching
damn. He wears us out.
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
hes in a zone now, too
cubs2234 - June 28, 2008
We need Lee to get into that zone again
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
Dye loves all pitching
right now. The ball looks like a beach ball to him.
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
Thome just missed one. Whew.
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
Thome flies out to Dome, 1 out
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008

cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008

cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
Cmon...one more out
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
Clouds are really dark to the north west

ballhawk - June 28, 2008

cubbierc - June 28, 2008
They're playing

sweetswinger - June 28, 2008

cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008
The Cubs OFers are hereby excused

cocknfire - June 28, 2008
LOL!
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008

cubsnlinux - June 28, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
Excellent, gotta work him again this inning, and maybe score a couple
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
a good high stress inning sounds great to me
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
A SCORLESS INNING ... HOORAY!!!!!!!
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
One final Lou rant
Hendry must love him for helping lower the trade value of E-Pat, Murton and now
Gallagher. He sticks E-Pat where he does not belong scaring off the buyers, basically never
plays Murton so who KNOWS how he can play THIS year and mucks up Gallagher
per above.
I am going home and off the internet. If we stall the game maybe the rain will come.
( or we could score a bunch of runs)
Doggie Stalker - June 28, 2008
Yeah, He's terrible
Bring back Dusty :)
Stan Cox - June 28, 2008
Nonono
Don Baylor
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
Have you seen Murton bat?
carmen_fanzone - June 28, 2008
he's a singles machine
but he does have fabulous red hair
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 28, 2008
You think the red hair increases his trade value?
Or does it scare people away, thinking he’s got a temper?
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
What is wrong with singles
They score runs instead all the guys left on base. The main reason to play him
NOW and for the last two weeks is that he is a left fielder
Doggie Stalker - June 28, 2008
Doggie, when you gonna bring some of that lovin' to Wrigley again? ;-)
ballhawk - June 28, 2008
Giants series
I would love to stop by and say hello
My Wrigley record is 4-1.
I hate to sound like Blue Mike re Lou but he is driving me nuts, this is a hell of a team
let’s not mess it up.
Doggie Stalker - June 28, 2008
I'll be out there. Look me up and bring your glove!
ballhawk - June 28, 2008
Will do
Doggie Stalker - June 28, 2008
let's see if the
Hampster and ONEDEC and tee it up for the top of the order.
ONWARD!!
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
No ONEDEC as far as I'm concerned...
He needs to earn that name back…
cocknfire - June 28, 2008
+1
BigJohnAZ - June 28, 2008
he'll earn it this inning!
LAcarl519 - June 28, 2008
