The rotation issues are clearly showing tonight ..
we got nickel and dimed by nibbling on Gallegher and Hart .. the thread on the Cubs rotation earlier today was, I think, one of the best on BCB this season.
We’re not talking about a guy that’s in his early 20s. We’re talking about washed-up veteran Sidney Ponson. If he hasn’t changed by now, he’s not going to change.
And because we’re having one hell of a season, and every night there’s a chance for something special to happen. If you were a Pirates fan you’d be in bed right now. And I’d rather be a Cubs fan right now than a fan of any other team.
it just sucks when you can’t watch every game. You finally get to watch and you get to watch a game like tonight. Like I said earlier, this group has spoiled me. 1st shutout of the year?
Dont think they threaten either. Houston, but only if Oswalt ever gets back into form. Cincinnati if they havent dug themselves too big a hole, but Dusty blows. Pittsburgh?
Most of the time we went either for curry or to a Korean place...
...that served the food in cast iron bowls – really can’t remember what it’s called, or to the on-base soba shop. For special occasions there was a wonderful place that brought out hibachi to the tables. I don’t think the Italina restauraunt was anything special.
Far less soupy. You’d add your own rice and vegetables and stir it, and it would cook right there on the spot.
They also served kimchee – I’ve seen kimchee in the local grocery store just recently, and been tempted, but I know full well my wife won’t eat it, and I’m afraid of being stuck eating the whole jar by myself.
and almost all branded beef in Japan… most of them has Ishigaki Beef DNA. And Kobe beef is nothing more than just one brand amongst series of great branded beefs…. Kobe should be siick out and famous only in US…
Here is Ishigaki Beef BBQ in Ishigaki Island – best BBQ I have ever had..

St. louis and Milwaukee lost anyway so it doesnt really matter
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
sure it does
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
They have been behind in the count
all night. Not going to win too many games that way
TheRiot Police - June 7, 2008
you mean ahead in the count?
cubsonWGN4ever - June 7, 2008
i misread

cubsonWGN4ever - June 7, 2008
They = Cubs Hitters..
TheRiot Police - June 7, 2008
its called throwing strikes and Lou wishes our pitchers would do more of that...walks 0!
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
101 pitches until now
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
think he gets another inning?
gotta wonder with the way we tee’d off on saito last night..
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
i would think so bc he's only getting stronger

cubsonWGN4ever - June 7, 2008

californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
The rotation issues are clearly showing tonight ..
we got nickel and dimed by nibbling on Gallegher and Hart .. the thread on the Cubs rotation earlier today was, I think, one of the best on BCB this season.
cubnational - June 7, 2008
I think the lack of hitting might have been a wee bit more to do with tonight
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
but you still need to produce some runs. nobody can win with 0!
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
time for ...
cubnational - June 7, 2008
in place
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
News flash
Cubs pitchers gave up three runs. That isn’t bad.
And other tems are allowed to have good pitching, too.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2008
true .. but ..
we didn’t respond .. and Hart showed why he shouldn’t have started in the AZ series
cubnational - June 7, 2008
Maybe the Cubs couldn't respond
because the Dodgers pitcher was too good. Remember, he stifled the Cubs last week, too.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2008
thanks for that
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
Are other teams allowed to have hamsters, too?
cwyers - June 7, 2008
It's the hampster!
cwyers - June 7, 2008
Don't worry everyone, Fontenot is in. This game's pretty much won.
northsider - June 7, 2008
I heard he is not available, he went shopping in LA for platform shoes
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
cant wait for the post game news conference with Lou. He will be agressive!
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
Lou hasn't had postgame pressers this road trip, so far as I can tell.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
ferally jealous here .. of everyone who casts Comcast
that would be on 24/7 in the house .. if only the house was back home in Chicago
cubnational - June 7, 2008
has Lieber lost some weight ?
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
idea
Sidney Ponson was DFA’d by Texas because of being disrespectful to teammates and I know I might take some heat but he’s been pretty good this year….
4-1 3.88 ERA
This could be a potential low risk high reward move
Rezze21 - June 7, 2008
I don't think disrespectful covers it.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
what exactly happened?
cubsonWGN4ever - June 7, 2008
Nobody knows for sure.
And in unrelated news, Michael Young is on the bench with an injured hand.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
heh.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
Only if we can then flip him and Hart for Harden.
santoswoodenlegs - June 7, 2008
don't know why you'd bring clubhouse cancer onto a team with the best record in baseball
Waveland Ave - June 7, 2008
amen
hard to root for a guy like that
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
if he's on a winning team mayb e his attitude will change
Rezze21 - June 7, 2008
why chance it?
sue369 - June 7, 2008
if he's a problem, just let him go

the guy's

TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008

sue369 - June 7, 2008
He wouldnt dare be a cancer in a clubhouse policed by
Z-zilla
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
and as fun as z punching out barret
we’re better this year… lets not chance that one! :-)
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
Really?
We’re not talking about a guy that’s in his early 20s. We’re talking about washed-up veteran Sidney Ponson. If he hasn’t changed by now, he’s not going to change.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
Fonty gets the ball!
cubnational - June 7, 2008
What did he do with it?
santoswoodenlegs - June 7, 2008
He tried to turn the double play
with no one on. Good thought with this umpiring crew
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
He wasn't assuming the catch was called.
Sorta like how catchers throw to first on a dropped third strike.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
Yeah but
he had a 50/50 shot the umps would have awarded two outs anyways
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
Caught it and threw to first!
Trying to get the same guy out twice. Now that5’s scrappy!
mrtobby - June 7, 2008
he ate it
hampster food
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
i'm gonna go ahead and say it
you don’t have much of a future as a play by play commentator
Waveland Ave - June 7, 2008
Beautiful pick
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
well .. the justification for our presence is at hand
The moment of truth.
The watershed moment.
The nexus point.
The final frontier.
The last three outs that must be repelled
cubnational - June 7, 2008
is that poetic enough
cubnational - June 7, 2008
how many pitches between fontenot, soriano and theriot. My guess 6!
BCB Vienna - June 7, 2008
9
3 straight swinging Ks
I know…i’m a hater…

californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008

wow, but he looked bad there
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
Thanks for stopping by, Fontenot.

TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
I don't think they're excuses
Kuroda has been excellent tonight. Can’t do much about that.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2008
why not?
this is the big leagues.
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
Yeah, and Kuroda
is a big-league pitcher. A pretty good one at that.
Other teams are allowed to be good sometimes, too.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2008
thank you
Len Kasper
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
I know, it's disappointing
to not go 162-0, but we’ll just have to manage.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2008
Yep, can't win them all.
sue369 - June 7, 2008
When you lose like that
it doesn’t bother me. Just got beat by a better team tonight.
The games where junk pitchers kill you, or you lose because you screw up on the bases or in the field … those stink.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2008
a better team huh?
TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
tonight they were
sue369 - June 7, 2008
Cubs were just flat. D, O,
pitching escaped from some jams, but walked too many.
Get a good night sleep, and lets get revenge tomorrow. Z will have the music pumping in the club house.
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
Everybody slumps.
Sometimes everybody slumps at the same time, and you get a night like tonight. We’ve still got the best record in the NL, don’t we?
cwyers - June 7, 2008

TheRamZamDLEE - June 7, 2008
3rd?

Washington once… Cincinatti once and now here… so 3.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
Right...
I remember the Nats doing it….and someone else..
Bump Bailey - June 7, 2008
What hurts
Is that two of their runs scored on an infield chopper over watermelon smasher’s head and a squeeze play.
TheRiot Police - June 7, 2008
and that if Dome had been called safe, it could've gone the other way
that call sucked alot of the air out of our dugout.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
still have to score moreth than 0 to win
cubbierc - June 7, 2008
Believe me
Would have been a different game if the ump didn’t blow the Kosuke call on 1st base.
southloop - June 7, 2008
fully agreed .. but we got to see Kemp tossed
that was cool
cubnational - June 7, 2008
that dingbat ump at first needs his eyeglass prescription checked
cubnational - June 7, 2008
home plate wasnt much better
cubbierc - June 7, 2008
100 games left!
If we win more than we lose we should be in good shape :)
mrtobby - June 7, 2008
Even if they go .500 the rest of the way
They still have a very good chance to win the division.
NOLA_Cub_Fan - June 7, 2008

cubbierc - June 7, 2008
i don't trust
duncan. it makes me nervous. the brewers could be… but i can’t hate them. i loathe st louis.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
At least you don't live in lair of the enemy
like I do. It is brutal…
TheRiot Police - June 7, 2008
I hate the brewers kind of a Packer thing
cubbierc - June 7, 2008
its going to be weird hating the packers without favre.
my whole football watching life, he’s been there. i don’t know who to focus my hate on…
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
Brewers pen is a mess
Dont think they threaten either. Houston, but only if Oswalt ever gets back into form. Cincinnati if they havent dug themselves too big a hole, but Dusty blows. Pittsburgh?
I still love our chances
californiachicagoan - June 7, 2008
i'm not even really worried about the cards
i just like them to lose. maybe that means i can go 2 days without hearing about how great ankiel’s story is. pfft.
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
Huston doesnt have the horses to go 168 will fade
cubbierc - June 7, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008

We Japanese love half-boiled egg
dragonsfanatic - June 7, 2008
Didn't know that.
Looks interesting. Hope it was yummy! :-)
halfblindcubbiegirl - June 7, 2008
This is already in my stomach
It was damn yummy….
dragonsfanatic - June 7, 2008
lol
northsider - June 7, 2008
I remember going to an Italian restauraunt in Japan...
...and one of my friends ended up with a soft-boiled egg right on top of his spaghetti. The look on his face was priceless.
When we ordered curry, you could get a raw egg on the side as a garnish. It’d cook as you stir it in. That was great. Now I’m making myself hungry.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
Italian restaurants in Japan...
are mostly run not by Italian immigrants… by Japanese…. We do have good one even in Okinawa.
dragonsfanatic - June 7, 2008
Most of the time we went either for curry or to a Korean place...
...that served the food in cast iron bowls – really can’t remember what it’s called, or to the on-base soba shop. For special occasions there was a wonderful place that brought out hibachi to the tables. I don’t think the Italina restauraunt was anything special.
cwyers - June 7, 2008
cast iron bowl at Korean restaurant
like this?
dragonsfanatic - June 7, 2008
Nope.
