To anyone who has been to Shea: I’m going to New York next week and was thinking about going to see Shea Stadium. I was wondering if it was worth seeing before it is torn down. The pitching matchup is Lincecum vs. Santana so that could be a factor…
I just don’t understand some of you all’s man-crush on Cedeno. Is it that people think he’s good, or just better than Theriot? I think I’ll trust Lou to lead us to the best record we’ve had in like 70 years, and he thinks Theriot is better fit.
cwyers doens’t cherry pick stats that match his opinion, he likes DEEP stats. E’s don’t indicate a fielder’s skill and BA isn’t enough of a picture to see what someone is really like at the plate.
...you’ll find this opinion to be pretty consistant. I use OPS or OBP/SLG in casual conversation, Linear Weights for when I’m doing research. For fielding I use Zone Rating. Add a positional adjustent and it’s called Wins Above Replacement. (I also have my own baserunning stat based on PBP data, if you’re curious.)
Because I like the Cubs and find it fun to hang out here.
If you don’t like my conclusions or don’t agree with them, that’s fine. I like to think my work stands for itself as close to professional-grade analysis; I’ve had conversations with people who do consulting work for MLB clubs and they sometimes get to talking above my head – stuff like ANOVA escapes me right now.
So, I do it because it’s fun and it’s a hobby. If you don’t care for what I do, that’s fine. But I really don’t like it when people question my integrity baselessly.
I give. that’s not at all what I was saying. I don’t care if you think I’m an ass, I been called worse by better. but I wouldn’t take that the way you took it.
Fielding percentage is a poor way of measuring defense. The best minor league defensive numbers I’m aware of are Dan Fox’s Simple Fielding Runs; he works for the Pirates now, sadly, so no chance of getting 2008 numbers. But I think he was around a -5 in 2007, not great but not terrible.
This is probably our best defensive alignment with the current personel. Asking Lou to do otherwise is asking him to put his team in a worse position to win this ballgame.
I don't normally care much about character issues in baseball...
...but I just have to say, for the record, that Billy Wagner may be the person I hate the most on the entire planet. I swear that man is the embodiment of evil.
Please help this hayseed throw strikes and stop thinking about getting home to his wife & kids. He has a job to do, for which he is paid handsomely. And excessively.
Don't know if you'll see this, and if you don't, I'll post in the game thread today
but yes!!! I’m totally down! I have very limited web building experience, but we could make it cool, I think. A friend of mine is awesome at these things, I could see if she can help. :)

That pitching matchup sounds like its worth going. I've never been to Shea, but those two would be fun to watch in any ballpark.

cwyers - July 1, 2008

I’m not tivoing right now but I think Fontenot was there.
soonerbered - July 1, 2008

Fontenot never made it to the bag. He was heading that direction, but he wasn’t on the base.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
ya but he held up once he saw Cedeno running to the bag on his own
El Borto - July 1, 2008
Oh, come now.
Really jumping through hoops now to blame Cedeno for trying hard to make a play.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
As I said above, whether or not Fontenot beats him to the bag is open to debate.
But even if he flips the ball, you’re not assured a double play.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Agreed
GoCubbies34 - July 1, 2008
Well
not making the double play was assured when he took three steps with the ball in his glove.
Fontenot may or may not have made it to the bag, but ideally he is there on time to make the turn. I put that one on Fontenot
El Borto - July 1, 2008
that's kinda the way I saw it as well
I just don’t understand some of you all’s man-crush on Cedeno. Is it that people think he’s good, or just better than Theriot? I think I’ll trust Lou to lead us to the best record we’ve had in like 70 years, and he thinks Theriot is better fit.

Just better than Theriot.
I think Cedeno’s ceiling at this point is utility infielder, with a possibility of being an adequate starter.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Agreed.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
I just don't see that either.
RC has 32 errors in 889 career TC’s. RT has 24 errors in 987 TC’s.
RC has a .252 avg in 815 AB’s. RT has a .287 avg in 981 AB’s.
I know RT doesn’t hit for power, but not everyone on the team has to hit for power. And again, I’ll trust Lou.

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008

cwyers - July 1, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
E-Patt does play 2B naturally
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
I like Fontenot better than Patterson...
...but with Theriot and Ramirez both unavailable they’re essentially the same player – a backup second baseman who plays no other infield position.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
NOT RHETORICAL -
do you know E-Patt’s fielding percentage @ 2B in Iowa?
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
No, and to be frank I don't know that it matters.
Fielding percentage is a poor way of measuring defense. The best minor league defensive numbers I’m aware of are Dan Fox’s Simple Fielding Runs; he works for the Pirates now, sadly, so no chance of getting 2008 numbers. But I think he was around a -5 in 2007, not great but not terrible.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
FonteYes belongs @ 2B, and nowhere else on the diamond
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
Well, a 2B usually has more chances in a game
than a 3B. Therefore, I would put my better defensive 2B at 2B.
DeRoMyHero - July 1, 2008
Fontenot doesn't have the arm for third.
You’d have to set DeRosa up to handle the relay throw anytime a grounder was hit to him over there.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
He doesn't have the glove for 2B.
Does that make him a DH?
DeRoMyHero - July 1, 2008
Fontenot is a passable defensive second baseman.
This is probably our best defensive alignment with the current personel. Asking Lou to do otherwise is asking him to put his team in a worse position to win this ballgame.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Uh, yeah, he doesn't have much choice, does he?

When is Marquis going to learn how to pitch?
cubbie1029 - July 1, 2008
When are we gonna learn to let him pitch for another team
nji232 - July 1, 2008
You don't think
they have tried to find him a new home? You have to have someone willing to take him..it’s not an easy thing to do.
sue369 - July 1, 2008
When are we going to get him infielders
that know how to turn a DP?
DeRoMyHero - July 1, 2008
Hes got decent stuff
lots of movement on his stuff.
Stuff doesn’t make the pitcher.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
OT
Does anyone know what type of glove Kosuke uses? That black & white one. My kid really wants one.
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
If Under Armour makes gloves then I would look there since everything else he has is from them.
nji232 - July 1, 2008
Yeah maybe. It looks like a Nike glove,
but I can’t find it anywhere
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
Dragon might know...
you can ask him if he shows up..
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008
Good call. Thanks
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
Man I really don't like Marquis
bad stuff and no control is not a winning combo
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
i wonder why we gave him 21 million bucks
CubbyBlues - July 1, 2008
because the next highest offer was 20?
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
...we should just not have signed him
CubbyBlues - July 1, 2008
Just laying around. No one else was using the 21 mil.
Against a better team, we’re probably three runs down right now.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
He has some interesting pictures of Hendry
Thats the only thing I can figure.
diehardmark - July 1, 2008
Think about the 2006 season...
...and, specifically, the starting rotation. That’s why he got 21 million bucks.
daver - July 1, 2008
I think Hendry had it left over after paying Soriano
and he gave to the first crappy pitcher he saw
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Because Gil Meche signed with the Royals.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Coaching visit to the mound
how interesting was this one?
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Lou elected not to participate in this one. Im convinced at this point he would prefer never to speak to Marquis.
nji232 - July 1, 2008
Ah
i was hoping for more fireworks. the last one was fun in a trainwreck kind of way
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
If Lou comes out to talk to him, I think it ends with Marquis on the ground bleeding.
nji232 - July 1, 2008
I agree
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
And the ump ejects Lou from behind...
...as Lou heads back to the dugout.
daver - July 1, 2008
Stop the bleeding at one...please
Marquis needs to find the strike zone.
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
Its on Hendry
to get a more talented, consistent pitcher, for the team to get to the promised land.
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
Queue the Blue....
dtpollitt - July 1, 2008
Brenly hit the nail on the head
if you can’t strike anybody out, you may as well pitch to contact early in the count instead of going 3-1 or 3-2 on everybody.
davidalanu - July 1, 2008
that could have been worse, lets forget that happened
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
I can forgive
but not forget…
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
TWSS
(cringe)
leothelip - July 1, 2008
It's cringe-inducing, but that is damn funny.
well done.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Cain is hittable
I’m looking for big things past this
oaklandSMASH - July 1, 2008
Saw that commercial for the movie "ET"
I vote that he steps on and pitches this game for us. How bad could he be?
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
ET throw home...
daver - July 1, 2008
nice
CubbyBlues - July 1, 2008
LOL
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
question
can someone tell me what twss stands for? I’ve been reading the boards for a while and have never understood what it stands for.
cubbie1029 - July 1, 2008
thats what she said
CubbyBlues - July 1, 2008
THATS WHAT SHE SAID
Really serves no baseball purpose; our immaturity, that’s all
dtpollitt - July 1, 2008
and we reserve to right to say deny you if you twss
again kinda immature
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
So, wait a second
I just peeked back overa t gameday from the way y’all were talking i thought we were down 100893 runs.
it is still 1-0 right?
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
yeah
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
yea
we just hate marquis
CubbyBlues - July 1, 2008
Yeah, but Marquis is still pitching.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
thanks
cubbie1029 - July 1, 2008
also, the reply button

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
TWSS
(every time)
leothelip - July 1, 2008
No, please, just stop
GoCubbies34 - July 1, 2008
eh.
We strive for more creativity, and your last one set the bar pretty high.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
TW.. (nah)
I’ll stop
leothelip - July 1, 2008
Aww I was going to let you do that though
GoCubbies34 - July 1, 2008
good b/c that wouldn't have made any sense
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
I was trying figure out how that could make sense
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
yeah it wouldn't have
UR DOIN IT RONG!
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
TWSS.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
What's TWSS, please
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
That's what she said
sue369 - July 1, 2008
Oops I thought he replied to my previous post
GoCubbies34 - July 1, 2008
370 career homer for Edmonds
its amazing he could hit over 400, really shows you the difference in the eras.
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Edmonds walks
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
Come on, Hamster Power.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
Get sneaky!
daver - July 1, 2008
Wow some kid there really loves Marquis
At least someone does
GoCubbies34 - July 1, 2008
Ronny really likes to swing.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Now, if only he'd play baesball.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
Hopefully, he won't play ball the way I spell "baesball" says Chico Escuela.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
alright gameday skipped the end of
fotenot’s AB what happened?
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
He K'd
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008

:-)
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
K, swinging low and away
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
The ball snuck past the bat
sneaky sneaky sneaky
El Borto - July 1, 2008
Well he headed to the dugout
And another out was added to the board.
GoCubbies34 - July 1, 2008
yeah, that was helpful
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Ronny taps out to Durham. 3 outs
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
What a surprise!
The former “ONEDEC”
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
Nothing special there
sue369 - July 1, 2008
No kidding.
That half-inning was mediocrity in action.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
OT, Mets still up 7-4, now in ninth!
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
"claps"
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
It's Billy Wagner time.
daver - July 1, 2008
I don't normally care much about character issues in baseball...
...but I just have to say, for the record, that Billy Wagner may be the person I hate the most on the entire planet. I swear that man is the embodiment of evil.
I hope he pitches well, though.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
I wouldn't say I hate him,
but I consider him a complete and total assbag.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
i haven't heard assbag in years
hahaha
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
I'm not particularly familar with his assbaggery...
...but I don’t doubt it. In any case, I just want him to shut down the Redbirds.
daver - July 1, 2008
John Rocker was worth hating also.
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008
Oh yes.
And he returned the favor.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Assbag ends the game, 7-4
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
Good job...for an assbag.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
I sense better at bats next time through against Cain.
...wishing, hoping.
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
J-Ed had a good one
worked a walk. Keep the faith. :-)
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
always! :-)
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
Castillo flies the track in RF. 1 down.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Nice season, Omar (.156)
leothelip - July 1, 2008
He's honoring Mario Mendoza.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Honoring him is one thing
I think he’s trying to show him up
El Borto - July 1, 2008
2 for last 41
we say “the trend is not your friend” in the money management business.
He’s a SELL.
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
TB beat BoSox again
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
Won't stop ESPN from covering every Red Sox bowel movement.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
Dear marquis
please throw strikes.
love,
everyone
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
The problem with that is that Marquis gives up a lot more home runs...
...than you’d expect from a ground ball pitcher.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
yeah
but its the f’n pitcher. blow something past the guy don’t NIBBLE
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
TWSS
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008

lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
TWSS= That's What She Said
sue369 - July 1, 2008

Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008

See BCB dictionary...
Or watch The Office.
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008
that is one of many problems
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Done.
daver - July 1, 2008
Prayer answered.
That’s the kind of inning he needed.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
Flyout to RF. 2 outs
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
K, he can do it
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
I swear, Mark Bellanger must've run over someone's dog.
How does he never get mentioned in these “greatest defensive shortstop ever” conversations?
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Totally agree
One of the best defensive shortstops of all time. Lousy batting average, though.
Not Bruce Froemming - July 1, 2008
Because it's much more fun to show clips
of Ozzie Smith doing back flips. Duh.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Strikeout. Inning over.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
slap a porn-stache on Cain
and he’d look like Jeff Kent at the plate
daily2b - July 1, 2008
cue the "i hate kent" posts
in 4..
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
I nothing the guy, but since you asked
F Jeff Kent!
nji232 - July 1, 2008
the whole dodgers series
was full of them. figured they’d resurface
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Jeff Kent effin' sucks!
We’ll do it live! WE’LL DO IT LIVE!!
daver - July 1, 2008
c'mon
he’s the best 47 year old, 255lb 2nd baseman in the league
daily2b - July 1, 2008
Since you asked,
Jeff Kent can kiss my red Irish ass.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Since hatred is in the air tonight, ladies & gentlemen, I give you Don Young! (cue off-stage catcalls)
leothelip - July 1, 2008
I like the colorful comments tonight...
I just wish the Cubs bats had a little of that venom in ‘em!
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
Game over Mets win. 7-4
nji232 - July 1, 2008
Nice
oaklandSMASH - July 1, 2008
is that their 2nd game
or have they played 3?
b.c i really want to go back to hating the mets
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Second game. Still two more nights of rooting for the Mets
nji232 - July 1, 2008
sigh
Strategic rooting sucks
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
Mets Win
gewurztraminer - July 1, 2008
And now the bad news...
...the Brewers are up 7-1 on the D’Backs in the fourth.
daver - July 1, 2008
I'm still more worried about them than the turd birds.
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008
i'm only worried about the cubs
we’re in first… if we fall out of first THAN i’ll worry
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
I worry more about the Cubs too but..
I like keeping a close eye on our rivals.
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008
Matt Cain is

LEt’s hope we can get through to this dude.

lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
The Sox shelling them?
Wasn’t Lee pitching tonight?
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Sox won it in the bottom of the 10th
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
Lee =8 innings 1 run no desion
cubbierc - July 1, 2008
The Indians losing is the best thing for the Cubs if we want CC
nji232 - July 1, 2008
Derosa gives it a ride, but it's just a long out. 3 outs.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
ZERO
shit.
And…back to Marquis again…ugh
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
And I see we're actually talking about baseball
And after last night, I was so looking forward to a spirited debate on the flaws of Gilded Age political dynamics.

I love lamp?
dtpollitt - July 1, 2008
Okay, that one confuses me
Seen it before, never have figured it out

Anchorman. Great movie, if you get a chance sometime rent it and you will know what he speaks of
nji232 - July 1, 2008
Serious? Ron?
dtpollitt - July 1, 2008
Where is Dennis these days?
leothelip - July 1, 2008
Champ, I think I ate your chocolate squirrel
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
That starts with the first overflow thread. Get Ready.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
No matter how "positive"
we think of players “stepping up”, it is impossible to not miss superstars like Soriano, Z, Aramis. PLUS an effective Reed Johnson.
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
Would whoever offered up the prayer for Jason to throw strikes....
do it again? You did a great job last time.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
Dear Jason
throw strikes.
love,
me
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Amen.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
God loves you, Jason, but only if you can throw the freaking ball over the plate in a timely manner.

DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Ward camped under that and caught it!
LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
zito? nope.
Chanman25 - July 1, 2008
Dear God,
Please help this hayseed throw strikes and stop thinking about getting home to his wife & kids. He has a job to do, for which he is paid handsomely. And excessively.
Thank You,

lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
Brenly says Zito would probably be availble if anyone's interested.
Chuckling the whole time.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
BARRY Zito? No, That's OK. We're all set on
overpaid, aging pitchers who can’t find the strike zone with a flashlight
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
he was chuckling... so it was a joke :)
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
A fleet footed Ward does it again.

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
halfblindcubbiegirl, you must have a direct line to God.
Everytime you speak up, Jason looks awesome. Ok, that’s an exaggeration. He looks decent.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
Winn helps him out and K's swinging. 3 outs.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Let's get some runs....please?

Chanman25 - July 1, 2008

You're not being the ball, Jason
Well, it’s kinda hard with you talking like that.

I dunno,

sue369 - July 1, 2008
Get the bullpen ready
Marquis is going 3-2 on most hitters and has 52 pitches through 3 innings. Could be a long night….
FarNorthBurbs - July 1, 2008
Is Ward in the on deck circle

LAcarl519 - July 1, 2008
We should be beating the crap out of these guys.
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
Cain is pitching pretty well.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
we are hitting very poorly
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008

Other teams are allowed to have good pitching performances, regrettably.

lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
b/c he doesn't want his wife's medical history

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Yeah, but the cat's kind of out of the bag on that one
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
Oh for God's sake.
Then why has ANYONE said it’s for the birth of a baby? I’ve heard that just as much as “family matter”, but I haven’t heard that it’s NOT for a baby.
lostinthevines - July 1, 2008
And if they don't deny it, it must be true, right?
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
No. I have heard it
several times on radio he is awaiting the birth of a son. Perhaps there are complications – or they just don’t want to say anything…
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
Ronnie has talked about repeatly last night.
He referred to it as birth of his child
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
she's having a baby, no one is talking about her medical history
if that report is wrong, then I understand.
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
because he's really awaiting the birth of a rooster, not a baby
gewurztraminer - July 1, 2008

daver - July 1, 2008
I'll bet he just keeps that up all game long.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
WHAT A SHUTOUT?
what an amazing feat to be pitching a SHUTOUT no RUNS scored RIGHT?
Chanman25 - July 1, 2008
Hey all! Doesn't look too bad so far, marquis holding up?
slcathena - July 1, 2008
i don't think he looks that awful
but you’ll get different reports. appartently the world is ending b/c its been a hour and we haven’t scored. In all, its PANIC time. :-P
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Edmonds grounds to first, unassisted. 3 outs.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
This is feeling like, so last week
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
Cain will walk you, we need to be more patient
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Cubs have 3 walks.
Just not getting any hits.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
we need four walks in row
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
didnt the dodgers win a game with no hits last week?
UTCUBS - July 1, 2008
Yeah, but that was more errors, if I'm remembering right, than walks
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
I usually let
my dogs walk me.
patron - July 1, 2008
Anyone got a pitch count on Cain?
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
60
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Thx
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
60, more than Marquis
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
because he's pitched one more inning perhaps?
FarNorthBurbs - July 1, 2008
noticed, was hoping it would give Marquis and 8 pitch inning!
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
Marquis actually had less, 60-58, through 4
I stand corrected!
FarNorthBurbs - July 1, 2008
i should try that more often
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
This wasn't supposed to be an easy game, anyway
Cain is throwing a nice game. Same with Marquis, after a rough first inning.
Not Bruce Froemming - July 1, 2008
60

Isn't "shut out" supposed to be one word as in "shutout".
Not that I want to harp on the idea that Cain has a SHUTOUT going.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
No.
You get “shut out.” You throw a “shutout.”

I hadnt really given it much thought today. but it would be something fun to do but Im not too computer savvy.
Madison Cub Fan - July 1, 2008
Don't know if you'll see this, and if you don't, I'll post in the game thread today
but yes!!! I’m totally down! I have very limited web building experience, but we could make it cool, I think. A friend of mine is awesome at these things, I could see if she can help. :)
slcathena - July 2, 2008

something to do with Geo I’m sure…lol

slcathena - July 1, 2008
Cedeno looks lost tonight
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
Haven't seen him looking "found" since April.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
True. I realized after I posted it that the "tonight" really wasn't necessary
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
nice eye Ronny...not
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Wow, Ronnie looked terrible right there.
daver - July 1, 2008
Yes, he did.

I agree as well
Chanman25 - July 1, 2008
OMGZ!?!!?!?!?!? CAIN IS PITCHING A SHUTOUT?!?!?!?!
Chanman25 - July 1, 2008
Cain DOES have a one hitter through 4.2
and he’s using it in the dugout between innings!

sue369 - July 1, 2008
:)
leothelip - July 1, 2008
Don't even think about it, folks.
daver - July 1, 2008
I think there definately is a debate about Vizquel and the Hall..
...contra Len and Bob. Especially if Trammel isn’t in.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
If you compare him to other SS of his generation he doesn't get in.
A-Rod, Jeter, Ripken, Larkin, Nomar all had better numbers.
Bump Bailey - July 1, 2008
There's an interesting pro argument
here.
Not sure I agree with it, but I think it has some interesting points.
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
It's like we have 3 pitchers hitting tonight
with Marquis, Fonte and Cedeno
diehardmark - July 1, 2008
Z is a better hitter then Ronny and Mike
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
And you just ranked them by ability to hit. Not sure if that was intentional.
nji232 - July 1, 2008
Is Fonte
Going to stay on this team all year?
patron - July 1, 2008
I know.
Sad, isn’t it.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
You forgot Ted Lilly.
I think he’s batting eighth.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008

Cedeno's line so far this season is...
...is .276/.348/.362. That’s not good, but it’s not like he’s Neifi Perez at the plate.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
No one is Neifi Perez at the plate
Except, of course, Neifi Perez
He has his own win in the ineptitude HOF
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
