forgive me if someone else mentioned this already, but does it seem like we are now starting to feel the bullseye on our back? seems like the opposing fans know about are record and get extra pumped when we come to town….wonder how much this has to do with our road record
The CC sweepstakes may begin now after losing the series to the Sox. CC is pitching tomorrow in the final game against the Sox. IF the Indians are inclined to trade CC I don’t think a win tomorrow changes that. In fact it may be in their interest to have CC pitch well tomorrow and win.
Logically it should improve once Soriano, ARam, and Johnson return to the fold, but still it might be worth pursuing a couple more solid bats to solidify the bench and spell the regulars twice a week. Guys like Frank Catalanatto and Brad Hawpe come to mind.
first?

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
with Fonty a distant fourth
I remember the Fonty at SS experiment lasted all of one game last year. Actually less than that – I think Lou yanked him after only a few innings.
ballhawk - July 1, 2008
didnt he move DeRo
over there in the middle of the inning?
BradB311 - July 1, 2008
Yep
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
i think the only inning DeRo
played at short last year
BradB311 - July 1, 2008
I think you're right.

DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Rowand is such a jackass.
He took a full extra step to hit the wall.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008

Ha!
Too true.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008

thanks
daily2b - July 1, 2008
Getting Ward to 3rd would have helped...
Shanghai Badger - July 1, 2008
Frack, to the deepest part of the park.
And the only guy in MLB who doesn’t take third after the catch is Ward.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
thats a run if Soto had his head out of ass tonight
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
What makes you think Ward could take third on a ground ball?
cwyers - July 1, 2008
Another good point
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
true dat
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008

MR. STOMACH FLU IS GETTING READY.
The miracle of Immodium.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008

gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Theriot looks available to PH, hope we need it
maddux1-27-07 - July 1, 2008
I can't wait for our players to be back so we can have that strong 7-8 combo again.
Soto-DeRosa>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fontenot-Cedeno
nji232 - July 1, 2008
What about Lilly?
diehardmark - July 1, 2008
Well that is a given when he starts, we should just bat him leadoff.
nji232 - July 1, 2008
a triple now in a triples park can tie this game
cubsnlinux - July 1, 2008
Surprise that wasnt a strike, ump needs to get his head out of his ass
Cubbinstrongsince86 - July 1, 2008
Bringing the power off the bench
DC Cubbie - July 1, 2008
Time for Theriot to smack a double.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Kind of scary to learn that TheRiot is available to Pinch Hit
cubsnlinux - July 1, 2008
He HAS to stay in the game here.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
double scary
cubsnlinux - July 1, 2008
God forbid his flu should return.
THEN what the hell are the Cubs going to do? I really don’t like this move.

"And now, playing SS, Carlos Marmol"

Bricks and Ivy - July 1, 2008

The E-Man - July 1, 2008
I don't why the heck the giants are booing.that was like a foot off the plate
cubsnlinux - July 1, 2008
that was a strike
Bricks and Ivy - July 1, 2008
wasted oppertunity again..
Chanman25 - July 1, 2008
I guess it's scrappy not to swing.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
The ump did The Riot no favors on that ab.
Cubfansince1957 - July 1, 2008
true..but knowing that...that 3rd called strike was tooooo close to take..
cubsnlinux - July 1, 2008
great pitch

Way to watch the called 3rd..TheRiot
actually TheRiot is kind of pissed that he won’t get a chance for Caught Stealing..
cubsnlinux - July 1, 2008
Guys generally don't swing as well off the bench.
Which is another reason I don’t like this. Even if you think Theriot is better than Cedeno, he’s ice cold, which negates much of the advantage.
cwyers - July 1, 2008
that was not a strike
on gameday. damn
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 1, 2008
Sadly, I think Gameday was wrong
cocknfire - July 1, 2008
it looked good to me
especially with 2 strikes
Bricks and Ivy - July 1, 2008
that was too close to take..unfortunately the home plate umpire doesn't look at gameday before calling
strikes

It means Theriot was a bit in the cups last night.
gary varsho - July 1, 2008
Yeah, but its not the sort of thing that gets better when you run the bases.
I’m sure you’ve experienced that feeling during morning PT.

More than once. Not good. We called them "Whiskey Trots."

Honest question
why PH for Cedeno? with the tying run on 1st and 2 outs, you need contact or god willing an XBH… can’t Cedeno do that?

Agreed...
If you’re subbing for a position player, that’s a bad sign. Especially if that position player bats from the same side of the plate.

It's really bad because we're short-handed right now.

Absolute lack of clutch hitting over the last 5 games excluding yesterday.
ARAM FOR MVP - July 1, 2008
Brewers gained a full
game.
Its a long season. This team HAS to learn how to win on the road more consistently.
The E-Man - July 1, 2008
This team has to execute better.
They are still not fundamentally sound. Not getting Ward over and in after a lead off double in the 7th cost them the chance at the win.
Rick B - July 1, 2008
If the White Sox sweep the Indians
the Sabathia sweepstakes will begin.
Rick B - July 1, 2008
Begin the begin
The CC sweepstakes may begin now after losing the series to the Sox. CC is pitching tomorrow in the final game against the Sox. IF the Indians are inclined to trade CC I don’t think a win tomorrow changes that. In fact it may be in their interest to have CC pitch well tomorrow and win.
DrCrawdad - July 2, 2008
Bench Strength
Logically it should improve once Soriano, ARam, and Johnson return to the fold, but still it might be worth pursuing a couple more solid bats to solidify the bench and spell the regulars twice a week. Guys like Frank Catalanatto and Brad Hawpe come to mind.
CaliCub - July 1, 2008
Tough loss
Both pitchers are off-and-on types and we came on the short end of that stick.
I was watching the game while listening to the A’s/Angels, so I was pretty baseballed up.
