Hitting for extra bases
Running the bases
Playing defense
outweigh his one actual talent, the ability to hit singles. You want to call that hate, fine. But please don’t pretend that we’re the ones who are completely ignoring the facts of the case.
many think we could have someone much better playing there.
Riot was brought in to play 2B. There’s a reason for that. But DeRosa is even better. Riot would be on the bench, except for his amazing ability to hit singles to right.
His OPS is mediocre, and his zone rating is downright abysmal. His fielding percentage, for those of you who care about that, is also pretty bad. He’s been caught stealing a lot. Heck, even looking at the old-school runs and RBIs he’s a very mediocre player.
His stats are NOT good. He is ranked LAST IN THE DIVISION (league) defensively. He has no slugging, no power. His range is minute. His baserunning is Not Good.
I know people say that’s their right b/c they paid for the ticket, and I suppose it is, but I cringe everytime the boos reign down on one of our guys. I don’t care who it is.
Or Lou found out the two of them were really good friends with Rob Dibble. Either way Lou does not ( or did not in Murton’s case) use them for anything that matters in the slightest He prefers fast, bad fielding guys for LF ( the Eric experiment) and one inning pitchers in the 3rd inning.

DeRo made a nice play in the 3rd to cut a ball off in the gap and hold the batter to a single. However, it was neither a PO, A, or E—i.e., it’s as though he was asleep according to traditional stats.
Does Fielding Bible deal with this? RZR? Or is it just lost?

His OPS is mediocre, and his zone rating is downright abysmal. His fielding percentage, for those of you who care about that, is also pretty bad. He’s been caught stealing a lot. Heck, even looking at the old-school runs and RBIs he’s a very mediocre player.
