do the Giants not have a scouting report on Rami? I know he was bad in that series out in SF, but… walking Derrek to face Rami in a close & late situation… wow. Seriously.
“Rami is a professional hitter and gives you a professional at bat every time” “Wrigley’s like the British Open sometimes with the weather changes” “We aren’t going with a 6 man rotation. No.” “Good win, good way to start the series”. “Marquis pitched well. He had to because Cain’s a helluva pitcher”.
We have more than enough pitchers already. 13 is ridiculous. 5 starters and 6 relievers should be enough. If you need more than 6 relievers in a game, it’s either an 18-inning contest or you don’t know how to manage a bullpen.
But Orton showed some decent arm strength and presence in the pocket. His problem was his accuracy. Don’t know if he can fix that…but if he can he might not be that bad.
you peeked! Listen, as a long time Packer fan, I will tell you that he has provided us with a lot of great games and one SB. However, Brett Favre, IMO, is the most overrated quaterback in the history of the NFL, for the very reasons Northsider just posted. He really doesn’t care if he throws interceptions. In one interview, he said his reckesness was part of his game, and if fans don’t like it they can shove it – basically. Anyway, if you guys want him, you can have him.
Nothing, since I was obviously asking if you'd rather have Orton or Favre, since those are the choices...
Would you rather have Kyle’s 3 TD’s and 2 INT’s or Bret’s 28 TD’s and 15 INT? You can’t seriously think that Favre wouldn’t be an upgrade over the craptastic job the Bear’s QB’s did last season, can you?
Yeah, and a gunshot is an upgrade over a knife wound.
I never said Kyle Orton was the second coming of Christ, but Brett Favre is not the answer. And he’d be a lot more expensive. Why spend that kind of money on Favre for one season? Doesn’t make sense.
to have a QB – or any other position – of his caliber, with his heart on the Bears. The Bears are a buch of 2nd stringers and that’s that. Hester is an anomaly.
I love the Bears but hate the organization. Ownership from the McCaskeys on down don’t seem to care about anyone but themselves. That being said, I really am scared for team this season.
in January. I miss the city & my neighborhood, (near west side). On the other hand, it is so nice to be back in the region. (I know, that sounds funny). I’ve lived all over the country since I was 16-17. Grew up in a small town, so the region is a nice speed now- know what I’m saying?
St. Margarets FTW. (not really) Interestingly enough my best friend just got a job to be a RD there. And FWIW I bought 4 Pumpkins ticket for the concert at the Horseshoe there.
I’ve been super busy, and I’m super tired. Clients freakin’ out on a Friday. Don’t they know I don’t do much on Friday after 1:00? Been putting out fires all afternoon.

“Rami is a professional hitter and gives you a professional at bat every time”
“Wrigley’s like the British Open sometimes with the weather changes”
“We aren’t going with a 6 man rotation. No.”
“Good win, good way to start the series”.
“Marquis pitched well. He had to because Cain’s a helluva pitcher”.
carmen_fanzone - July 11, 2008
Comcast poll...."Do we need one more starter?"....are you serious???
razzpunk - July 11, 2008
No
we have enough!
mondello58 - July 11, 2008
Heck
We have more than enough pitchers already. 13 is ridiculous. 5 starters and 6 relievers should be enough. If you need more than 6 relievers in a game, it’s either an 18-inning contest or you don’t know how to manage a bullpen.
danimal15 - July 11, 2008
I concur
mondello58 - July 11, 2008
after yesterday, i'd say
YES
IowaCubs- - July 11, 2008
that's just silly
Emelie - July 11, 2008
Theriot
Note that it was Theriot who got things going in the 8th. He’s been so valuable this year.
danimal15 - July 11, 2008
I'm really excited for Harden tomorrow...
I hope trading Murton for him was worth it.
IowaCubs- - July 11, 2008
For those who have no life like me
Gallagher pitches tonight…west coast time
TheRiot Police - July 11, 2008

hello again
cubs - July 11, 2008
OT....Favre wants his unconditional release from the Packers
Sounds like he wants to play somewhere….
TheRiot Police - July 11, 2008
Git 'er done, Jimbo!!!
Oh, sorry…still excited from the game.
daver - July 11, 2008
Bears should sign him
so he can stick it to the stinkin Pack!!
Itchy - July 11, 2008
That would be rough
first we sign Edmonds, then the Bears go and get Favre, that’s a lot of former enemies to sign in one year
gwood - July 11, 2008
I don't think I could take it
honestly.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008
really besides last
year he wasn’t very good the past few years
cubs - July 11, 2008
and he was so AWFUL in the cold
that game against my Bears and then the play off game. He looked old.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008
Neither has Rex or Orton!
He did completely suck in the cold though, didn’t he??
Itchy - July 11, 2008
Me neither
That’s too much animosity to swallow in one year
gwood - July 11, 2008
Hope he plays for the Vikings...
They’d just love that in Packerland…:)
Bump Bailey - July 11, 2008
and he sucks in domes
i’m sure that’d be a fun experiment.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008
twhs?
Emelie - July 11, 2008
difference is...
...you know Favre can play and it would be a helluva upgrade.
carmen_fanzone - July 11, 2008
I'd take him
MikeOxbyg - July 11, 2008
and no that's not WSS
MikeOxbyg - July 11, 2008
If by "play", you mean "throw lots of pretty interceptions", then yes, Favre can most certainly play.
northsider - July 11, 2008
guess you missed last season...
...or you just like watching Kyle Orton in there.
carmen_fanzone - July 11, 2008
People think I am crazy
But Orton showed some decent arm strength and presence in the pocket. His problem was his accuracy. Don’t know if he can fix that…but if he can he might not be that bad.
Regardless…I call 6-10 season
TheRiot Police - July 11, 2008
I like Orton
he’s a nice guy. We had the same physical therapist at Purdue.
and he can see over his O-line. That helps.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008
2/3 of the bartenders in Des Moines...
...would tell you otherwise. He’s not very well liked here.
IowaCubs- - July 11, 2008
I like him, too, being a Purdue grad and seeing most his games he played in WLafayette...
....I just think the Bears are the wrong team for him.
carmen_fanzone - July 11, 2008
He was great fun to watch in High School...
here in Iowa, but I feel sorry for the town of Altoona, Iowa for having to put up with him.
IowaCubs- - July 11, 2008
What does Orton have to do with Favre throwing INTs?
And yeah, I saw Favre the last three years:
‘07: 28 TD, 15 INT
‘06: 18 TD, 18 INT
‘05: 20 TD, 29 INT
And he was especially craptastic against the Bears. So I guess the only reason for signing him is so he doesn’t have to face us?
northsider - July 11, 2008
Darn it Northsider
Mr W - July 11, 2008
+1
Shanghai Badger - July 11, 2008
Nothing, since I was obviously asking if you'd rather have Orton or Favre, since those are the choices...
Would you rather have Kyle’s 3 TD’s and 2 INT’s or Bret’s 28 TD’s and 15 INT? You can’t seriously think that Favre wouldn’t be an upgrade over the craptastic job the Bear’s QB’s did last season, can you?
Hell, George Blanda would be an upgrade.
carmen_fanzone - July 11, 2008
Yeah, and a gunshot is an upgrade over a knife wound.
I never said Kyle Orton was the second coming of Christ, but Brett Favre is not the answer. And he’d be a lot more expensive. Why spend that kind of money on Favre for one season? Doesn’t make sense.
northsider - July 11, 2008
Because they want to win?
carmen_fanzone - July 13, 2008
By the way, nice misuse of statistics.
OMG, Kyle only threw 3 TDs?? HE SUCKS!!!
How many games was that in? Wait, let me take this one. THREE.
northsider - July 11, 2008
3 games, 3 TD's...that averages out to....16?
16 < 28 ?
carmen_fanzone - July 13, 2008
There's a reason they play the games.
northsider - July 13, 2008
I know but what do they have to lose??
I mean they have no QBs to speak of right now.
Itchy - July 11, 2008
I thought Favre was retired...again....

IowaCubs- - July 11, 2008

This is the correct answer
okiecubbie - July 11, 2008
that is correct...
Holliday starting, but he was already on the team.
carmen_fanzone - July 11, 2008
I dunno
thats what ESPN’s ticker said
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008
If we did not already have D Ward
Tony Clark is available and would be a good bench guy. But we don’t need 2.5 1st basemen on this team
TheRiot Police - July 11, 2008
I'm not suggesting Richie Sexson...

halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008

MikeOxbyg - July 11, 2008
Ah...Fan Displacement Syndrome
or FDS.
I hear loud and clear in the Show me State
TheRiot Police - July 11, 2008
We should be so lucky
to have a QB – or any other position – of his caliber, with his heart on the Bears. The Bears are a buch of 2nd stringers and that’s that. Hester is an anomaly.
lostinthevines - July 11, 2008
I think
Urlacher and Tommie Harris have something to say about that.
McRipper - July 11, 2008
vasher and tillman

dez clark is good. olsen could be good.
and i dare you to say any of that to Olin Kreutz’s face.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 11, 2008

I love the Bears but hate the organization. Ownership from the McCaskeys on down don’t seem to care about anyone but themselves. That being said, I really am scared for team this season.
Jayo525 - July 11, 2008
Michal McCaskey is such a tool.
I wonder what the plan is for when Virginia passes…
