I was lurking in the Brewers’ blog this morning, and a couple of them were discussing the fact that, if the NL wins the All-Star game, and a game 7 is needed in the World Series, it would be in Miller Park.
let it go, he had his run w/ the cubs… both times we parted on good terms… let’s leave it at that… now if they’re willing to throw in Peavy in that deal… well, that’s another story.
Before that Marmol was lights out. Based on the days that voting took place Marmol deserved the nod. Obviously, if voting was today it would be different :(
but that outfield is stacked Stewart, Wells, Rios or at least they looked stacked this summer with those expected to do very well not sure where they are at now.
Let's Sweep!

CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
coaching has something to do with it.
so does talent evaluation.

SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008

Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008

Or at least as close as possible with the 25-man roster presented.
cwyers - July 13, 2008

Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
good question, especially w/ a righty ace pitching

sackings108 - July 13, 2008

Emelie - July 13, 2008

CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
Carlos should give a seminar in dugout temper fits.
Think about it. He’s destroyed Michael Barrett AND a water cooler.
Here in Denver, Troy Tulowitizki smashed a bat against the dugout wall, it shattered, and cut his arm putting him on the DL.
Cubfansince1957 - July 13, 2008
pienero is getting shelled right now
buccos have 2 on, still 2 out
lswaidz - July 13, 2008

sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Coupla Things
1) Infielders should play the infield, and outfielders should play the outfield.
2) Kinda hoping Marquis-for-Maddux goes through, only because maybe guys like Dempster would learn from the master and not throw so many pitches.
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
um...
+1 and -1, in that order
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
You Don't Want Guys To Conserve Pitches?

exactly

Current Win Expectancy:
Cubs
24%<br />Brewers43%Cardinals @ 50%
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
well that looks ugly.
cubs have a 24 percent chance, brewers have a 43 percent chance, cardinals have a 50 percent chance
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Arrr! Matey!
Emelie - July 13, 2008
Nice hustle Theriot
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
yay! Theriot to 3rd!
Emelie - July 13, 2008
nice wild pitch there
looks like that triple may have taken a little out of the kid
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Molina seems to
be catching a BB tongue lashing today.
sue369 - July 13, 2008
wtf was that...
did lee slow down or something…?
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
just sharply hit, gave lincecum time to recover
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
need to hit him in the face next time
take care of the little kid look w/ a nice scar… kidding, don’t hit him in the face… maybe on the hand…
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Lee Looks Slower This Year
but I like the attempt to hit liners back up the box.
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
Damn - that was a good opportunity to score...
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
Cards announcers talking smack about Marmol because some clown on the cards didn't make it over marmol
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
clown = lohse
are you kidding me? stfu
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Josh Hancock?
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Dude, not cool.
northsider - July 14, 2008
Izzy?
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
Neal Cotts would get in over Izzy.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
What about Rich Hill - I hear he's tearing up the rookie league.
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
he would as well.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
The vote ended 2 weeks ago
Before that Marmol was lights out. Based on the days that voting took place Marmol deserved the nod. Obviously, if voting was today it would be different :(
jajonez77 - July 13, 2008
I have very little faith in the 5-9 of our order today
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
sunday lineup.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
We don't want to hit it too hard because of all the old people?
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
sunday is normally the day the backups play, the third game of a series, esp if the team has won the first two.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
which one?
theriot?
or fontenot?
tootle - July 13, 2008
Hah!
Clever.
cwyers - July 13, 2008
ha!
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
White Flag Lineup Today
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
Might as well shut off the TV
This one’s in the bread box.
Not Bruce Froemming - July 13, 2008
Before I Do...
if you’re not Bruce Froemming, then who are you? Doug Harvey?
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
Dutch Rennert, actually
If I were saying this stuff instead of typing it, you’d be able to hear it no matter where you were.
Not Bruce Froemming - July 13, 2008
HAHAHAHA
Yes, Dutch had a great “Steeerike” call back in the day. :-)
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
Didn't matter where you were in the ballpark
or how loud the crowd was, Dutch would let the dead know it was a strike.
Too few guys like that anymore (nor, thankfully, at the other extreme, like McClelland).
Not Bruce Froemming - July 13, 2008
And miss the Futures Game?
Not a chance!
cwyers - July 13, 2008
Any idea which cubs are in it?
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Wellington Castillo
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
i think just one...
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Not off the top of my head, actually.
And it’s almost over. Wish I had remembered sooner, actually.
cwyers - July 13, 2008
He was just saying this is our weakest lineup.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
pirates 2b just pulled a buckner on a slowly hit dp ball
cards have runners at the corners with 1 out
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Easy DP ball, too
wnielsen - July 13, 2008
cc sabathia will look good in a cubs uni next year
Chanman25 - July 13, 2008
no thanks
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
did you might, yes please
Are you kidding me, look what it could be….
Zamrano
Sabathia
Harden
Dempster
Lilly
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
No CC? No Maddux?
You must like offense!
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
CC is lightyears better than maddux at this point
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
too much money for him, rather have a real center fielder after edmonds retires in a cubs uni
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
give pie one more chance, i say.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
ok you're banned for life now
;-)
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Who's banned?
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
anyone who wants felix in the lineup!!
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
i think he can still be good, we'll see.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Word
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
Pie?
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
Huh? Yeah, Sabathia would be horrible.
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
I've heard that vertical stripes are very slimming....
NotSure - July 13, 2008
Replay showed DLee hustling down the line.
Just bad luck that the ball hit the pitcher.
Do you think he’s trying to hurt Lincecum? His single in the first almost took his head off.
Cubfansince1957 - July 13, 2008
I VOTE D - RYAN THERIOT
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
Least Valuable Member of the team?
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
um... huh?
DeRosa all the way baby
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Fan poll answer has to be DLee.
I have decreed it so!
Cubfansince1957 - July 13, 2008
Ayup.
cwyers - July 13, 2008
getcher phone out
Emelie - July 13, 2008
Yea I agree
I was just kidding with Ryan Theriot – although I will always stand by him as well
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
Riot should have flipped
That said, are they running on Hank or Demp? That’s at least the third steal/attempt today
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
That, and Giants Have Little Sock
in their lineup.
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
I think they're just running because they're obviously not a power team.
That said… what’s the over-under on how long it takes Alan Trammel to start pulling his hair out in the dugout?
cwyers - July 13, 2008
Yeah, I know ... just seems like a lot for the first four innings, even for a team without much punch
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
Bad defense by Pirates...couldn't turn DP, Cards 5-4
NotSure - July 13, 2008
BOWKER GUNNED OUT AT HOME
GREAT throw by RJ
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Great throw from Reed!
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
Thanks Bowker for getting nailed at the plate!!!
razzpunk - July 13, 2008
Nice toss!
jajonez77 - July 13, 2008
Oh yeah!!! Reed Johnson on the money!
What was Toronto thinking?
Cubfansince1957 - July 13, 2008
his average wasnt high enough to battle for a spot on their roster
I dont know, just guessing
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
the canadian exchange rate was up, and he was asking to be paid in loons and not USD
so they let him go
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
That he isn't a good hitter?
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Not that he's not good
but that outfield is stacked Stewart, Wells, Rios or at least they looked stacked this summer with those expected to do very well not sure where they are at now.
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
Great throw Reed!!
Let’s get some runs!!
Itchy - July 13, 2008
very nice
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
Yesssssssssssss RJ I love you!
Emelie - July 13, 2008
Who woke Vizquel's bat up today????
razzpunk - July 13, 2008
I Called Him This Morning
and said, “Omar, make my suggestion of the Cubs getting you as a late inning defensive replacement look good!”
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
just don't tell him to go stealing home again
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Texting Him Right Now....
hahahaha
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
tell him the grim reaper says "what's up, see ya soon old man"
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Horrible send
was that Wendell Kim?
JohnM - July 13, 2008
o man he was brutal
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
Not to take anything away from RJ
but he had the ball well before the runner was at third, and he was in shallow left. Terrible decision to send him home.
JohnM - July 13, 2008
+1
It was both.
Good throw from RJ, but horrible decision to go for it there
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
Not really a bad decision
Two outs, pitcher on deck…
Perfect time to take a chance.
DeRoMyHero - July 13, 2008
So is Harden going to be an Allstar for the NL now?
so does that make 9 Cubs all-stars?
Chanman25 - July 13, 2008
Didnt make the all-star team for the AL
jajonez77 - July 13, 2008
The Reed love is a little nauseating as well.
I mean, he made a good throw, but people really think he’s a valuable hitter. He’s OPSing around .699
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
He was a pretty valuable hitter yesterday.
And he’s made a number of good defensive plays.
Cubfansince1957 - July 13, 2008
I Like RJ Because
he chokes up on the bat, a lost art these days.
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
It's almost .850 against righties
About .05 better than DeRosa
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
Let's see if we can sneak in a run or two now and get the momentum.....
this is a chip away game…
razzpunk - July 13, 2008
as is any game against lincecum
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
ARam, Quit Swinging At Low And Away Stuff!
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
you'd think he was channeling Tiger Woods... or trying to
Emelie - July 13, 2008
he would be knockin out on waveland if that was the case
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
trying... not succeeding
Emelie - July 13, 2008
good nice alright
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
I love Lincecum....
but I hate facing him
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
i love lamp
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
Lincecum looks like he's 13 years old...where does his power come from?
NotSure - July 13, 2008
those mechanics generate a ton of power
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
yuppers
sort of like Ron Guidry, a little guy that had a devastating fastball and slider.
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
There was an article about that in SI recently
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
and will carroll is in love with them as well
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Just unbelieveably impressive...
NotSure - July 13, 2008
spinach
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
I would take a 13 year old that throws like him on the Cubbies anyday!!!
razzpunk - July 13, 2008
Rookie of the Year anyone?
Texas Wahoo - July 13, 2008
A Tie With Soto
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
I believe
he was referring to the movie
tootle - July 13, 2008
It comes from his ridiculously long stride
there was a right up on him yesterday maybe Yahoo! about how his stride is over 1.5 times his height
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
JIMMY BALLGAME
splits the gap, double
lswaidz - July 13, 2008
there we go
Chanman25 - July 13, 2008
Jimmy Ballgame!
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
gapper! derosa scores
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Hooray!!!!!
Emelie - July 13, 2008
Atta boy jimmy!
jajonez77 - July 13, 2008
Jimmy Ballgame....let the chipping away start now!!!!!
razzpunk - July 13, 2008
Lookin like the edmonds of old
SouthsideCUBSfan - July 13, 2008
still eating my jedmonds crow, and loving it
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Save me a piece.
Cubfansince1957 - July 13, 2008
I think 99.9 percent of Cubs fan have been snacking on crow for a while now
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
Sweet gapper!
Keep it rolling!
Itchy - July 13, 2008
Alright if nothing else get
that pitch count up and wear out the kid
CHCOWNTHECENTRAL - July 13, 2008
Good To See EdMo Can Pull A Pitch
when he has to!
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
Overflow up
wnielsen - July 13, 2008
Link
It’s only polite
cocknfire - July 13, 2008
reed looked horrible in that at bat
sackings108 - July 13, 2008
Can't Hit Lincecum's Breaking Stuff
CaliCub - July 13, 2008
