at home almost the whole month of April. So, yes, that’s where they have demonstrated they can win with ease. Now, they are on the road where as is posted below, they are 20-27 now.
But what that can also do is put you into a slump. I say forget the cozy dimensions and just hit some solid liners. Bunch some hits and walks together and light ‘em up tomorrow!
I know evryone is gone but I'm gonna post anyway to answer CubsBall2202
Lilly was solid. Wonder Hamster flashed some leather and had a nice double. Edmonds popped one into the Crawford Boxes. All else was flat…bad flat. Way too many lazy fly balls. Fukudome is still circling the drain (try a bunt perhaps and at least create better angles on the infield**assuming he’ll hit the ball on the ground again someday). Lee still worries me though the numbers are strong. Howry has me petrified (fix the titanium, grind ball in glove, tug strings…WORK DOWN!). I know it’s one game but damn it…Houston…Moehler? I wathched the Cards and the Brewers tonight as well as the Cubs and they looked rested and energized. Our boys looked flat. Get’em tomorrow.
2 firsts tonight?
I gotta get out more…

Cubfansince1957 - July 18, 2008
Wonder why they're waiting so long to pitch Harden again...
Isn’t Z starting tomorrow or Sunday? And he pitched in the ASG.
Cubfansince1957 - July 18, 2008
They are going to treat Harden with Kid Gloves
No one wants to risk injury with him

4 hits. I’m glad they rest did them some good.
Mapmaker - July 18, 2008
HEre is the hard fact:
The Cubs, in my lifetime, play like shit in Houston. Probably always will.
I dread every single game there.
It is a long season, but history shows that of all places, they suck mightily in Houston.
The E-Man - July 18, 2008
Sure seems that way..
Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008
We lost to Chad Moehler
louslovechild - July 18, 2008
Embarassing
CaliCub - July 18, 2008
Actually, didn't we lose to whomever pitched the 9th?
Not to get technical or anything.
Cubfansince1957 - July 18, 2008
Really was hoping Howry
...was going to step up, that was a great opportunity to do so.
We need 2007 Bob Howry back….
JB 23 - July 18, 2008

preachermancubsfan - July 18, 2008

the “he’ll come around” part.
sue369 - July 18, 2008
nope
but i appreciate it
Rudey - July 18, 2008
i guess...
giving up one run makes his whole second half a waste
preachermancubsfan - July 18, 2008

but ur comment to why he didnt step it up in tonight situation was cause he was a 2nd half guy
dont get defensive :(
Rudey - July 18, 2008
Don't get so negative. ;(
sue369 - July 18, 2008
i dont wanna be :(

CaliCub - July 18, 2008
hah, nice
Jayo525 - July 18, 2008
I get yelled at last time, but
Why let Lilly pitch to Lee?
Why pitch to Pence? First was open, sets up double play.
louslovechild - July 18, 2008
Good Outing
by Lilly. However, I didn’t like seeing Howry come back out, let alone letting him pinch to Pence. Why not IBB him? Oh well, we’ll get em tomorrow.
Jayo525 - July 18, 2008
with Ty Wiggington next
...a IBB would seem like a good call there
JB 23 - July 18, 2008
And...MArquis is
starting tomorrow? Start the second half 1-2?
The E-Man - July 18, 2008
No offense
The Cubs seemed lifeless out there tonight. Hopefully Fukudome turns it around becuase he looksl ike a different player these days.

Bat Him Fifth Again?
CaliCub - July 18, 2008
I'm all for that..

Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008

He is totally lost right now at the plate…
The E-Man - July 18, 2008
Hey, It Worked The 1st Two Months
I say give it a shot!
CaliCub - July 18, 2008
If he doesn't pick it
up in any slot in the lineup soon, Lou will not be pleased.
The E-Man - July 18, 2008
I Say Try It For a Couple Games
and if he still struggles then drop him down to 8th until he gets back in the groove.
CaliCub - July 18, 2008
Granted, this has been a whirlwind
for him so far, and a grueling pace – however, I would think Lou would eventually put him in the best place in which to succeed. He really is struggling at the plate. But he’s also a very professional player – it is huge for him to work out of the plate difficulties.
The E-Man - July 18, 2008
Worth mentioning...
He once went 45 straight at bats without a hit in Japan, then ended up winning the batting title…
Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008

DTJchris - July 18, 2008

so many adjustments here though…I still have faith in him..
Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008
Wow, Didn't Know That
Truth be told, I think Dome will snap out of it. And I think Lou will get him settled in a spot in a lineup where he’ll be successful. I was only speculating.
CaliCub - July 18, 2008
I didn't know that.
Hope he gets going here soon.

sue369 - July 18, 2008

sue369 - July 18, 2008
yup...
The bats will come back to life and Big Z will keep Ted’s mojo going
JB 23 - July 18, 2008

The E-Man - July 18, 2008
Agreed..
Only giving up one run in that ballpark is outstanding.
Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008
It's Tempting To Try For HRs At Minute Maid

Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008
Well, sigh, good night all. See you on the game thread on Sunday.
I don’t think we’ve got a great record on Sunday WGN games. The only win I remember is against the White Sux in Wrigley.
Cubfansince1957 - July 18, 2008
Actually they are
6 wins and 3 losses for games on WGN on Sundays. Let’s make it 7-3 this Sunday.
sue369 - July 18, 2008
I hear that!

kcjones - July 18, 2008
Greg Maddux only went 4 innings
and 57 pitches. 6 runs, all earned. Ugh.
ChipSet - July 18, 2008
And people here want him?
Actually…I’ve said so myself…..guess Lieber throws 50, Maddux 50 and you go to the pen…Is that better than Marquis?
kcjones - July 18, 2008
actually if we are discussing books I got a kinda off the wall book question for you
As you prolly know Geo is my FAVORITE Cub. If I want to learn more about catchers/catching any ideas?

Maybe when Soriano comes back and he’s moved down in the order it will help…I dunno..

Pretty pathetic exhibition by the offense tonight
Dome needs to either start hitting or get moved down to the latter part of the lineup in the lineup, he just isn’t very good right now
DC Cubbie - July 18, 2008
Yep...
doesn’t look like the same Dome he was at the first third or so of the season.

DC Cubbie - July 18, 2008
Agreed..
Cubs play 15 of their final 21 on the road. Hope they have a big lead by then.

CubsBall2202 - July 18, 2008
Hell if I know..
Being on here, I didn’t really pay close attention. I don’ t think our hitters were very patient though…Seems like we were hacking at everything..
Bump Bailey - July 18, 2008
