although, i think things are getting better. there are plenty of “good guys” in the tour and in pro riding elsewhere. but, yeah, it’s sometimes tough to know who they are.
question his broadcasting skills i can understand, but the homer in me will never forget his time as a cub…..plus who else sings the 7th inning stretch as a member of the opposing team and still says “root root root for the CUBBIES”?
most of the bloggers on here love BB like you and hate grace…..i’m in the minority and find myself defending the topic every other day…..no big deal it’s just friendly talk, i just really dislike BB’s work
he can’t stay away. He’s constitutionally incapable. Honestly, I used to be somewhat like him, but then, well, I grew up and met Laura and I had to stop being an @ssh0le if I was gonna get to be with her, so I just outright changed.
but I don’t think there’s enough games left in season for that to happen this year. Also, I think CC’s a better pitcher. We’ll see what happens though.
I have MLB.COM premium t.v. and the picture is choppy. I have downloaded all the plug ins and emptied my cash. So how do I get a smooth picture? The FAQ says that if my bandwidth isn’t big enough the premium picture will be choppy, so how do I get my bandwidth to get bigger? HELP!
This place is like there is a funeral going on. No one cheers. My first trip to Wrigley is coming up (going to both Houston and St. Louis series) I hope it isn’t like that there. Damn, you may as well just stay home and watch it if you aren’t cheering.
a few seconds before my feed. So, whenever I see a lot of names go up I know one of two things has happened: 1) We made a good/great play of some kind. 2) We screwed up and everybody is going bonkers. So I tend to not scroll down until I see what happens on the screen first.
Well we are making another mid to low level pitcher look like an ace....
frustrating to watch…..must be killer to be in the dugout watching it….hope a return to Wrigley will shake off the dust on those bats…..looks like Lilly needs to pitch a shutout here to give us a chance…...
You gotta think that the pitchers are under tons of pressure to be perfect...
with the offense we have right now…..it must be incredibly frustrating to the guy on the mound to giive up a couple of runs and realize that the game may be outta reach for our lame bats…...hold on Ted and maybe we can find a way to scratch out 2 more runs….
Are our SP supposed to throw shutouts every game. Sometimes pitchers miss their spots. I’d be more focused on the offense getting beat by a retread named Doug Davis. Quick quiz—when was the last time Fukudome hit a ground ball?
What will be classic is when we get back to Wrigley, start knocking the ball around again and people will forget how god-awful this team is on the road—until September when we are basically on the road the entire month and will feel the pain.
The Brewers are in it to win it folks....and C.C. scares the hell outta me....
I know their bullpen sucks and they are managed by a circus clown but man oh man they are not going away…..we best man up soon or we may be looking at the wildcard as an option…..
This is what happens when a team is cold, like the Cubs, and they play a team that is getting hot, like the DBacks. Every hit finds the hole, every swing finds the gap, every pitch finds the strikezone. Conversely, every pitch looks better than it is and the batter swings at something they would never swing at normally, and every hard hit ball finds a the other teams glove. Only way this ends is when that momentum switches to the other side…Yeah, all right Edmonds. That can get us started!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now let me tell ya why that was a terrible AB by our #3 hitter
Our pitcher just basically ran around the bases and you swing at the first pitch. Please at least take one pitch so that Lilly can at least grab a gatorade
Score first
and score ofen.

alpe d’huez today!
Mr Snrub - July 23, 2008
dont tell me who won the stage.
i’m just watching it now.
Mr Snrub - July 23, 2008
My main issue with cycling right now is that they have more doping problems than the MLB
nji232 - July 23, 2008
fair enough.
although, i think things are getting better. there are plenty of “good guys” in the tour and in pro riding elsewhere. but, yeah, it’s sometimes tough to know who they are.
Mr Snrub - July 23, 2008
I hope they can clean it up because the Tour is one of the hardest things on earth to do
nji232 - July 23, 2008
that's
bicycling, right? :D
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Come on Cubs lets get this win!
nji232 - July 23, 2008
predictions for sori?
i’m saying 1 for 3 with a K and a double
cubswynn - July 23, 2008
No predictions....just
happy he’s back and hopefully give this team a moral boost.
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Another reason to be glad when this series ends...
Watching on MLB.tv, the Diamondbacks have what may very well be the most unprofessional broadcast ever.
camnorris14 - July 23, 2008
does Grace still wander the stands sometimes?
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Not sure
But they did their open in the middle of some section in the bleachers in T-shirts and looking ridiculous.
camnorris14 - July 23, 2008
Last season he spent 3 or 4 innings one night just wandering the stands and talking to himself
All of this was heard by those of us watching
nji232 - July 23, 2008
i love grace
question his broadcasting skills i can understand, but the homer in me will never forget his time as a cub…..plus who else sings the 7th inning stretch as a member of the opposing team and still says “root root root for the CUBBIES”?
cubswynn - July 23, 2008
Well I’m just glad he didn’t come over to WGN. I don’t think I could handle him.
camnorris14 - July 23, 2008
+1
Bump Bailey - July 23, 2008
i think him and BB are both smug.....i dont see much of a difference
cubswynn - July 23, 2008
Brenly doesn't...
wander the stands
have ridiculous catchphrases (“Gas” ... what is that?)
act like a buffoon in the booth
tell inside jokes
camnorris14 - July 23, 2008
ugh i cant have this arguement AGAIN
to each their own…..bb sucks in mine
cubswynn - July 23, 2008
This is my first time here,
so fair enough. I don’t want to say too much since I also work in the industry and don’t need to be overly critical.
Just something I noticed at the start.

miamicanes - July 23, 2008
I expect it too.
I don’t expect anything from him tonight and mayebe the next few games.
sue369 - July 23, 2008
It may
I don’t look for him to shoot out of the gates.
I am just happy he is back.
jajonez77 - July 23, 2008

Probably

it's ok.
he never goes long without being discovered. It’s only a matter of time.
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Lilly and Davis are having...
a slow off…
Who can throw slower and still be effective? I think Tedjust broke the rules by throwing 88.
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
I think Ted is just a bit faster to the plate
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Could be...
we should give him a handicap

cubs2410 - July 23, 2008
sabathia will be good this first time through the central
but he will get hit after…. remember lilly last year?
cubs2410 - July 23, 2008
CC is just a tad better than Ted
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Harden has thrown better than CC
CeeCee has had better run support—must be a better brand of panty hose.
LAcarl519 - July 23, 2008
maybe
but I don’t think there’s enough games left in season for that to happen this year. Also, I think CC’s a better pitcher. We’ll see what happens though.

Mr W - July 23, 2008
What internet service do you use?
How fast a connection do you have?
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
well
to get your bandwith bigger, you need a bigger pipe. That’s not a config setting you can change. You gotta call your provider and get a bigger pipe.
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Well, I have a built in ethernet connector
I suppose I will have to call my service, because the bandwidth registers between 4600 – 2600 thereabouts.
Mr W - July 23, 2008
You can't make your bandwidth bigger...
Try and watch the lower speed stream. It won’t be as good, but you’ll have a lot less buffering.

Welcome to Testicle Theater
hosted by Len & Bob!
Itchy - July 23, 2008
I have heard about enough
About that injury to last a lifetime.
jajonez77 - July 23, 2008
Yeah we need a new topic
miamicanes - July 23, 2008
Amen
Brenly just can’t help it! He probably has hours of balls-to-the-nuts stories.
Itchy - July 23, 2008
Is it a 1 run lead
Or do the Cubs seem to have a little more spunk tonight.?.
patron - July 23, 2008
I'll bet we get 5 more runs tonight
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Anybody else hear the clown yelling in the backround?
nji232 - July 23, 2008
LOL..yeah I do.
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Clowns are scary.
Reddevil - July 23, 2008
Is it the Joker?
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
Yodeling clowns

he would scream whenever he came even within 30 ft. of our table. Now he’s 15 and he’s still afraid of him!!

Ned Yost was once on Bozo's grand prize game
Employee22 - July 23, 2008
Same here
miamicanes - July 23, 2008
They did that at oneof the Houston games too
I thought that they would get bored. But, they kept it up until around the 8th inning.
jajonez77 - July 23, 2008
The guy just yelled "Lou, What are you doing" that whole inning
nji232 - July 23, 2008
I'd love to be sitting next to that guy...
How can his “section-mates” not totally take him out???
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
DBacks squander a lead-off double
how sawheet it is!!!!

cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Anybody been to the bank vault to see a game in person?
Was wondering what kind of park it is to see a game in.
Doesn’t look to great on tv.
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Warehouse with a pool
Employee22 - July 23, 2008
concur
not aesthetic.
Reddevil - July 23, 2008
agree, I was very disapointed.....advertising everywhere etc...
JB 23 - July 23, 2008
Avoid the upper deck...
Worse than The Cell…you need a cherpa to get up there.
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
Nice
miamicanes - July 23, 2008
They fixed the cell
Now I feel safe wallking around drunk up there.
diehardmark - July 23, 2008
I heard they miscalculated the demand for tickets
and built too big of a park. The area doesn’t have the population to support the amount of people the park holds.
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Upperdeck 30 degree grade
Employee22 - July 23, 2008
Was in AX for spring training and ate at a restaurant in the stadium
and it is a stadium, not a park. and the roof is freaky. didn’t like it
West Coast Diehard - July 23, 2008
Did Sori get a good cut at that ball?
Riot tries to bunt for a hit. Gah.

This place is like there is a funeral going on. No one cheers.
My first trip to Wrigley is coming up (going to both Houston and St. Louis series)
I hope it isn’t like that there. Damn, you may as well just stay home and watch it if you aren’t cheering.
jajonez77 - July 23, 2008
Don't know if your joking about Wrigley or not
But I promise it will be a lot better than this
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Nope not joking
I leave for 10 days to Chicago. Which will be my first trip there. Taking in 6 games. Needless to say, I am counting down.

You guys comments go up
a few seconds before my feed. So, whenever I see a lot of names go up I know one of two things has happened:
1) We made a good/great play of some kind.
2) We screwed up and everybody is going bonkers.
So I tend to not scroll down until I see what happens on the screen first.
Mr W - July 23, 2008
good to know
joeschmitt - July 23, 2008
Seriously,
when I see all those names go up I’m afraid to look.

And thats wy I led it off with the NFL is a joke.
Hammer - July 23, 2008
In Hester's defense
the CBA in the NFL is going to be up while he is still getting paid whatever he is. Not to mention he wants to maximize on his value right now.
nji232 - July 23, 2008
he will be fined....15k a day.
JB 23 - July 23, 2008
BFD

JB 23 - July 23, 2008
You would think so but
I’m sure he has endorsements too so he probably makes more than the 450K.
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Gameday, MLB audio, or MLB video feed?
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
oops, i thought i hit the reply button to Mr. W.

Completely killing us right now!!!!
razzpunk - July 23, 2008

Come on
This isn’t Warren Spahn on the mound! Have some patience!
Itchy - July 23, 2008
For some reason,
he baffles the Cubs.
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Sabathia
90 pitches through 8 innings. He’s expected to take the mound in the 9th.
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
If he completes this one, that's 3 in a row
flachimesa - July 23, 2008
The famine won't be over
until Aram and Soto remember that right-center is their power alley.
tharr - July 23, 2008
Well we are making another mid to low level pitcher look like an ace....
frustrating to watch…..must be killer to be in the dugout watching it….hope a return to Wrigley will shake off the dust on those bats…..looks like Lilly needs to pitch a shutout here to give us a chance…...
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
we
are winning, you know…
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Sure for now....but this offense is just downright yucky right now and hard to watch
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
Then maybe you should
shut the TV off and go for a walk or something. Might change their luck.
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Now we're not.
Mr W - July 23, 2008
Davis has always shut us down for whatever reason
Lets just get to the bullpen
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Davis is 7-5 in 13 starts against the Cubs
We can get to him
flachimesa - July 23, 2008

drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
I don't like that kid.
Reddevil - July 23, 2008

Teddy's not fooling Chris Young!
Another double! Wonder if he’s having flashbacks?
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008

drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
POOP!!!
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Did he slam the glove?
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
No, but he jumped up and down a few times as he watched his pitch sail into the seats.
Only his second HR this year. Why????
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
Why do we ever...
throw Chris Young anything in the strike zone. He is another Corey Patterson.
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
Here's an idea, Ted
stop throwing the fast ball…
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
How about just not over the middle of the plate?
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
yikes. double poop
MinnesotaFan - July 23, 2008
MN Fan...
where are you from. I’m from Golden Valley.
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
Well the offense has been called to task yet again
They need to get it done
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Mark it down
Two runs will not win this game.
Reddevil - July 23, 2008
Nope, one run was not gonna get it done for us.
Hopefully we can get to Davis.
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Cover your heads guys
HERE COME THE TROLLS.
BE sure to pay the toll.
Hammer - July 23, 2008
sigh, I know
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Yeah....Tony Clark jumps outta his wheelchair and slams a 2 run tater....
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
i think
they should throw Chris Young one more high fastball just to make sure he can hit it.
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
Thinking the exact same thing.
He was hitting 7th or 8th all week until tonight. He owns Teddy.
louslovechild - July 23, 2008
Man will it feel good when we start hitting again.
Bricks and Ivy - July 23, 2008
Sabathia is going to throw another complete game tonight
He is on a sick run right now
nji232 - July 23, 2008
let him wear out his arm
before we get there.
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
he just reached 100 pitches with 2 outs in the 9th
i think his arm will be fine
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
I remember how we all said he would need to go 9 innings every start for them to win
nji232 - July 23, 2008
if i was them i would make him pitch 9 innings every start
he wont be signing with them after the season so just ride that arm to death.
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
its the brat stop---he will be 400 lbs soon.
Hammer - July 23, 2008
Gotta score some runs now!
Lilly’s getting slapped around now. If not, say hello to our co-inhabitant of 1st place.
Itchy - July 23, 2008
slow your roll
the game is scheduled for 9 innings
Reddevil - July 23, 2008
Same thing was said...
for the last two nights.
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
and in all 3 cases
it has been true
joeschmitt - July 23, 2008
lol...
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Ted Lilly
Home of the quality start. He will give us what other teams crave, 6 solid with 3 runs or less.
louslovechild - July 23, 2008
not enough!
we need 5 cy young candidates
joeschmitt - July 23, 2008
You gotta think that the pitchers are under tons of pressure to be perfect...
with the offense we have right now…..it must be incredibly frustrating to the guy on the mound to giive up a couple of runs and realize that the game may be outta reach for our lame bats…...hold on Ted and maybe we can find a way to scratch out 2 more runs….
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
If we get what we just got from our starters every time around
We will win a lot of games
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Why are you ripping Lilly?
Are our SP supposed to throw shutouts every game. Sometimes pitchers miss their spots. I’d be more focused on the offense getting beat by a retread named Doug Davis. Quick quiz—when was the last time Fukudome hit a ground ball?
What will be classic is when we get back to Wrigley, start knocking the ball around again and people will forget how god-awful this team is on the road—until September when we are basically on the road the entire month and will feel the pain.
BeltwayCubsFan - July 23, 2008
That is something they really have to fix though.
(being god aweful on the road)
Bricks and Ivy - July 23, 2008
Fukodome had a ground ball hit last night.
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Heres one reason
He still throws Chris Young high fastballs.
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
Whats up with all the steals
on us lately?
tigerhawk61 - July 23, 2008
they realized soto isn't that great
princefieldersdiet - July 23, 2008
stealing third with 2 outs
isn’t to much to be concerned about.
cowsarecool220 - July 23, 2008
Lilly is a punk
princefieldersdiet - July 23, 2008
For giving up 2 runs.
Most pitchers should be aloud to do that.
louslovechild - July 23, 2008
for what?
Hammer - July 23, 2008
for throwing his glove
princefieldersdiet - July 23, 2008
last year?
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
still a punk move
princefieldersdiet - July 23, 2008
whatever.
last year is over. Who cares?
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Apparently Al does, since he put it in the main post
princefieldersdiet - July 23, 2008
you're taking it
out of context.
drewishdrewid - July 23, 2008
Who gives a rat's ass?
sue369 - July 23, 2008
His ERA is only slightly above the MLB average
Not bad for a number 4 or 5 starter
West Coast Diehard - July 23, 2008
but not paid like a 4 or a 5th starter
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
Brewers win
Itchy - July 23, 2008
Brewers are now half a game from first place.
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
With Sheets going for them tomorrow they have an excellent chance at getting the sweep
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Can't rip our starting pitching at all...it has been doing the job.....
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
no doubt.....in fact they have been really good since the break
....its Doug Davis, we will be fine tonight. The bats will come alive
JB 23 - July 23, 2008
Come on. Those SB are on the SP, not Soto
nm
BeltwayCubsFan - July 23, 2008
Question
Valverde or Papelbon--Valverde acting like a caveman or that stare on Papelbon—WHO would you rather kick in the face with your spikes?
Hammer - July 23, 2008
Brian Wilson, by far.
princefieldersdiet - July 23, 2008
that is really tough, but I gotta go Valverde
JB 23 - July 23, 2008
Our offense on the road...
is offensive. Get these guys some greenies…or Red Bulls…coffee…anything?
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
Keep the Red Bull away from Big Z
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Except when he hits...

sue369 - July 23, 2008
Damn ground rule doubles
But lets get going here!
nji232 - July 23, 2008
Reed Johnson is seeing the ball really well. He crushed that one.
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
The Brewers are in it to win it folks....and C.C. scares the hell outta me....
I know their bullpen sucks and they are managed by a circus clown but man oh man they are not going away…..we best man up soon or we may be looking at the wildcard as an option…..
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
Well said.
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
chances lilly slams his bat instead this time?
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
I was just going to write that he would drive in a run--and he did.
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
Hot and Cold
This is what happens when a team is cold, like the Cubs, and they play a team that is getting hot, like the DBacks.
Every hit finds the hole, every swing finds the gap, every pitch finds the strikezone. Conversely, every pitch looks better than it is and the batter swings at something they would never swing at normally, and every hard hit ball finds a the other teams glove. Only way this ends is when that momentum switches to the other side…Yeah, all right Edmonds. That can get us started!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr W - July 23, 2008
1-1...thanks Ted
sue369 - July 23, 2008
I don't mind Lilly throwing his glove because he is competitive and a bulldog
razzpunk - July 23, 2008

Lilly steals third
IheartGeo - July 23, 2008
you steal on me
I steal on you
flachimesa - July 23, 2008
Lilly steals 3rd.
sue369 - July 23, 2008
Ted Brock steals 3rd!
Itchy - July 23, 2008
Gracie called Lilly's steal "big league baseball". I think he's right :-)
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
yeah hes right
its a lot better than seeing Lilly play “little league baseball” when hes slamming his glove.
TJ3117 - July 23, 2008
I sense ole man mo
switching over to our side!
Mr W - July 23, 2008

MinnesotaFan - July 23, 2008
Shoot. Mark Reynolds made a great play on that one.
zevkalman - July 23, 2008
And DLee doesn't have to GIDP.....that's a positive!!!
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
Hey,
look at the smiles in our dugout!! Baseball is getting to be fun again!!!!!
Mr W - July 23, 2008
Ted Lilly
for our new leadoff hitter…look at him creating runs.
mutleyil - July 23, 2008
THAT'S why I hate the DH
BigJohnAZ - July 23, 2008
First pitch swinging
Dumb. Give Lilly a breather.
tharr - July 23, 2008
Exactly. Davis on ropes and he bails him out
BigJohnAZ - July 23, 2008
Very dumb
West Coast Diehard - July 23, 2008
We are on the same page tonight
Tell me why when we take the lead 4 – 2, that pissed me off more than I was happy about the lead.
louslovechild - July 23, 2008
Now let me tell ya why that was a terrible AB by our #3 hitter
Our pitcher just basically ran around the bases and you swing at the first pitch. Please at least take one pitch so that Lilly can at least grab a gatorade
TheRiot Police - July 23, 2008
Perhaps DLee isn't a #3 batter then....hmmmmm
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
completely agree
especially with 2 outs…. that was not a veteran move
cubs2410 - July 23, 2008
i like it much better when we're ahead....... it 's just funner....
MinnesotaFan - July 23, 2008
So that's what offense feels like? I dig it!!!
razzpunk - July 23, 2008
overflow is up
jump
flachimesa - July 23, 2008
HEY WAIT A MINUTE!
I thought we were leading 4-2, how come they have the score 4-3 DBacks??
Mr W - July 23, 2008
Come on Ted
don’t start walking guys!
Itchy - July 23, 2008
