This team is better than what they’ve shown the past few games. Every body goes through slumps in a season, and we just had a bunch of them happen all at once. Having the All-Star Break right there probably drew more attention to it.
gotta pick up the wife from the hospital. But, this is what happens when you relax and let the game take care of itself. The smiles are back in that dugout!!!!!!!!!
Howry needs to learn how to throw SOMETHING, ANYTHING decent other than that low to mid 90’s fastball right down the pipe. Forget that pathetic excuse for a slider he hangs every once and awhile.
What is wrong with that? When the game, season, psychological stability of millions of people are all on the line, those are the gentlemen I would like to see.
Cotts has proven himself lately as a competent reliever, and Howry has gone completely in the other direction. And Wood, Marmol, and Gaudin are all studs.
so maybe he is on his way?.....he hasnt been the same DLEE this year or last
last year he was still recovering…...but he goes into severe slumps…..i hope today is the beginning of a hot streak….he used to be in the hunt for a batting title
that Howry has turned into a lost casue. I don’t mean to be greedy, but may be time to get an arm Hendry. Other than Cotts, Marmol, and Woody these guys have looked awwwful shaky.
Good job tonight. The offense finally awakened. Good to see Lee, Ramirez and Soto get hits.
Always nice to win on getaway day. Now, time to put together a nice homestand, short as it is.
I’m not going to bitch about Howry tonight. In a seven-run game, he has plenty of leeway. You throw strikes in that situation, odds are someone’s going to hit it.
Meanwhile, let’s all be happy with the victory. One more day in first place, and one more day off the calendar.
I don’t know how much more time I can spend in front of the computer, late on a work night, holding my radio at just the right angle, so I can hear WGN radio.
If someone told me they’d win every night I do that, I guess I’d just give up my career.
because Soriano was back but I’m going to credit his return to the lineup as a real boost to this teams play tonight. Nice game for some who had been slumping. Let’s take this win and run it to 5 going into Milwaukee.
Lee looked better tonite, Aram and Soto both got a basehit and Fukudome had a nice OBP night and Soriano looked decent both at the plate and in the field.
watching at parents’ house a couple of games, at a Buffett concert on Saturday and intentionally avoided game threads lately because I knew what they’d be like…
Now I had on everything blue I could find, and it was the game that we scored 6 in the first off Bush. I was going nuts. They dont like our kind there. AT ALL! Lets just say my clothes absorbed more beer than I drank.

Good job tonight. The offense finally awakened. Good to see Lee, Ramirez and Soto get hits.
Always nice to win on getaway day. Now, time to put together a nice homestand, short as it is.
I’m not going to bitch about Howry tonight. In a seven-run game, he has plenty of leeway. You throw strikes in that situation, odds are someone’s going to hit it.
Meanwhile, let’s all be happy with the victory. One more day in first place, and one more day off the calendar.

I just want to say that my mental health....
really depended on the Cubs winning tonight.
I don’t know how much more time I can spend in front of the computer, late on a work night, holding my radio at just the right angle, so I can hear WGN radio.
If someone told me they’d win every night I do that, I guess I’d just give up my career.
