Great Game Cubbies!!

Let’s beat their #3 tomorrow

Good call on the new thread.
Dome's 3B is

play of the game

i liked everything braun did

for that

I can see why Braun has no errors...

a generous official scorer and bad footwork

I thought you were going to say

you have to get to a ball to actually make an error on it.

Braun’s pretty brutal out there.

Funny story...

for those watching the Brewer’s broadcast (I couldn’t watch the WGN broadcast because they had some awful ringing/siren noise in the background the whole time that was driving me up the wall)... When Braun caught Dome’s sinking liner (top of the 2nd, I believe) – the announcer went on about how Braun has improved himself in left field, and really made himself decent there. “He’s among the league leaders with seven outfield assists!”

When that triple skipped by… silence. Cricket noises. Nothing. :)

Great GAME

GO CUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The CUBS WIN thread
hmm pretty quiet right now...

where is the party? HUGE WIN HUUUUUUGE

I'm literally too thrilled to speak.

I’ll be over it in 10 minutes or so.

this thread

posted just as the game was won.

Frankly

i’m still kind of drained from last night’s win.

I slept

like a baby last night.

Win Win Win !!!

does that help the atmosphere?

I’m trying here…

CUBS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How’s that?

Hey Chicago whaddya say?????
the cubs are gonna win today!
Noticed we've won two in a row on the road...how many more to get to .500?
um... 6?

I tihnk.

hopefully we have it down to 4 on Thursday

...now Dempster takes the next step

6
and the Cubs have won 3 road games in a row
What do you mean .500??
.500 on the road...
W00T indeed!

who called for the easy win tonight? Good call!

that would be me.

The Brewers didn’t even score the 3 I thought they would.

Don't think we're gonna beat the record...

...last night it was this thread that had 1102 POSTS! WOW!

lets do it!

i got an hour

LOL

I need a few more beers to do that…

well um lets get started..
I love baseball. And I don't mind kids...

but the whole televised LL World Series thing… kinda creeps me out

No kidding

plus, it is BORING!

it always get me

when they lose and start crying

yeah. too young to put them on that stage
its the whole predicting their future thing

like “this 12 y/o is a good pitcher now, what’ll he be like when he’s 30?”.

Um. Dood. he’s 12!!

Time for bed!

good night all, until tomorrow morning!

night!!

:-)

Braun and Hart...MVP's for the Cubs
Dude,

Hart looks baffled in the field. It’s ridiculous.

hart?

he’s usually alright.

but braun is kind of an adventure out there.

I don't watch them all that much

I noticed it in the all star game and again tonight, he just doesn’t seem to get a good jump. I definitely have a small sample size though.

Don't forget Neddy!

Neddddddy!

Wasn't much Yost could do tonight but sit and watch...

...couldn’t have expected Sheets to get lit up like a pinball machine

I know. I just like referencing him.
Braun the Butcher

Nice body language by Braun today. The box score said he played all 9, but we all know he played about 5

No more Bennigans???? NOOOOOOOOO!

Are they going to show the Cubs postgame on CSN? No, the White Sox are still playing???

what a shame!
They had

Good mozzarella sticks.

I love Bennigans

i was sad when i heard the news.

What happened to Bennigans?!
Declaired bankruptcy

today. all their shops closed. jobs lost. employees baffled.

very sad.

Wow.

I liked that place. :(

I had heard they were having issues for a while...but very sudden.
Some still open in Indiana and a few other places...

Doesn’t affect the franchisees….

sheets

folded like a blanket

or maybe a sheet...
or pillow
or comfortor
trying to get to

that 1100 mark?

yeah it may take awhile LOL
Sheets...

...pitched like “sheet” tonight!

Thanks all for the

fun game threads the last two nights. Looking forward to tomorrow nights game.

Night all.

Night, sue!

See you tomorrow. :)(

night sue!!!

madison said hi.

hmph!
she was screaming in my ear

she said hi to all of BCB. :-)

Double hmph!

Did she sing it at Wrigley North?!

Tell her hi
I LOVE THE CUBS WOOOOOOOOOO GREAT TWO GAMES

DONT LET UP GO FOR THE BARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and goodnight, until tomorrow

shark

i am thrilled with thhe cub’s dominant victory. the shark, overall, was very good. he is still on the learning curve. cameron is a tough out

Update from my buddy @ Miller Park:

Said all the Brewers fans left after it was 7-0, and after we got the win almost the entire place was singing “Go Cubs Go”. Also said as he was walking on the meazinne two Cubs fans were waving a W flag, and two drunk Brewers girls ran up, grabbed it, threw it on the ground, and jumped on it. Needless to say it was funny, he said.

Dan

Ned Yost says

“I hate my yellow teeth”.

Last!
yeah.

not so much!

now last!
nope!
way off...

sorry

now last
nope!

is it sad that this is kind of fun?

Swisher with

a MONSTER HR. 6-5 Min

and it's over

White-Sox lose.

yes. it was great to put on CSN for a Cub recap and I get to see the Sux lose

...what a bonus!

I have triumphed!

All the guys at my station now join in and sing ‘Go Cubs Go’ after our wins now.

We get the game live here Thursday morning our time…praying for a win in that one

Aussie Aussie Aussie!
oy oy oy!
I cringe

when Australian do that chant

Sorry....
LOL!

Im guessing you aren’t an Aussie so your exempt : )

Awesome.

That’s so cool.

Note:

Brew Crew Ball had 228 (and counting!) posts in their game thread tonight. Not 2,228, cuz that would be SLIGHTLY less than ours, but 228, as in, like, in the low HUNDREDS.

Dan

brewers fever

catch it

they said "catch it"

to braun

I think you mean...

Brewers Fever: Cat shit.

Or

You could go to http://thewisconsinsportsbar.blogspot.com where they got like 100 posts even though they have 6 commenters- most complaining about not starting Bill Hall.

Oh, that was me.

I think that “sure K” Hall is the Cubs’ best player after Weeks.

quote of the thread:

“I hate the cubs so much. I hate that they are winning. I hate their fans. I hate the fact that we are becoming the mini-red sox to their mini-yankees.”

nothing "mini"

about fielder

In order

to be the “Mini Red Sox” doesnt that require people outside of the area code to care about the team?

Brewer fans actually have friends that are live and in person to watch a game with

We don’t need to converse with people on the internet to enjoy a game.

I agree that the # of posts have nothing to do with a fan base

But c’mon . . . don’t get bitter. It’s only July.

Not bitter, Im actually in a pretty good mood because it is only July

I actually didn’t think that post was that bitter. I was just commenting to a ridiculous statement.

fair enough

you seem like a reasonable Brewers fan—I enjoy talking baseball with that kind.

I just wish the fan base would take that chip off it’s collective shoulder. It makes these games less fun for me; especially being from WI.

I think we have a collective chip because Cub/Chicago fans feel they are superior fans

I live in southeastern WI and grew up in Illinois, so I have a lot of practice defending myself from these type fans. However, I am always more than willing to chat with good baseball fans, which many on this site are.

The only fans I think I'm better than are Dodger and Padre fans.
Well, not all feel that way

Just like not all Brewers fans are fair weather. Growing up a Cubs fan in Kenosha in the 1980’s, all I heard was, “Cubs suck”, except in 1984 and 1989—then I was a bandwagon fan. So I have some practice myself.

I think big followings also hurt the reputations of fans

When I, as a Brewer fan, go to watch a team in my home stadium and 40% of the fans are rooting against them, it brings animosity. I have no problem with Cub fans doing this, I have my experiences as a Packer and Badger fan doing the exact same thing in reverse. (soldier field, memorial stadium, Ryan Field at Northwestern)

However, these are the types of things make many brewer fans mad.

With that being said, if the brewers and cubs are really close come the next series, there will be a lot more brewer fans at wrigley. It should make for yet another interesting series.

I've had the same experience at Ryan Field

The simple answer, of course, is buy tickets for your home games . . . it’s not our fault that the Brewers didn’t sell out games often before last year. Just like it’s not our (Badgers fans) fault that NU doesn’t sell out.

I wear Packer gear at Soldier Field and never experience the same hostility there that I do at Miller Park with Cubs gear on.

I agree with you about the tickets, Im just telling where the dislike comes from
Sure, but did you see the point about GB-Bears?

That is a true rivalry - old as the NFL. Cubs-Brewers isn’t there yet - and there seems to be a lot of one-sided maliciousness.

It’s too bad, because it could be as good - or better - than Cubs-Cardinals. But until the fans learn to play nice (which may not happen), it won’t be.

Missed a point I meant to add

Packers-Bears, Cubs-Cards may dislike each other, but most fans respect the other team and the rivalry.

I don't remember or didn't care really...

but how was the rivalry between the Sox and Brewers?

It was alright

Brewers also had the twins so it evened out.

I think a lot of it is just the times we live in.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I doubt Milwaukee Braves fans and Cubs fans had this much hate. Cubs and Sox fans have always had a thing going on though.

I would guess that if the Braves never left there would be a lot less Cub fans in WI

I think after they left, many fans needed a team to root for and there were the Cubbies, on Tv and relatively close to home. I wonder if this could be the case with Shanghai Badger?

My dad started following baseball

Before the Braves left Boston. My mom was a Braves fan when they married. She became a Cubs fan afterwards.

The Cubs had a strong following here post-Brewers arrival because of WGN. Also, there are a lot that became Cubs fans because of the Braves leaving, as you suggested.

Maybe so..

Although I would think the Braves fans would be much older. But being on WGN has certainly made the Cubs popular all over.

My point would be that the Braves fans would have passed their fandom onto their kids

I grew up in Chicago but my parents were from WI. THerefore, my dad past on his Brewer fandom on to me. This is probably why I don’t mind talking to you guys.

Packer and Bear fans hate each other.

I think fans from both team need to learn how to play nice, but sometimes a heated rivalry is more intense.

I have no problem with Bears fans

And have never had a problem at Soldier Field or downtown Chicago with Packer gear on.

Heated rivalry, sure. But not ugly.

Maybe it has to do with all the games being played in one season.
What the heck is going on over there, brewfan2?

Are Cubs fans really just not welcomed AT ALL over at your site?

Dan

ol pete is nuts, he's kind of like your BCB's MBNIU

Just disregard anything he says. It doesn’t help when Al calls out brewer fans in the opening of threads like yesterday.

OOOOOHHHH.

Now I see. Thanks for the info. I seriously just wanted to talk shop since everyone over here left for the night! Didn’t try to antagonize anyone at all.

Dan

Let me ask you a question

What’s with ending all of your posts with “Dan”

Is it like you’re writing a letter. I mean this in the nicest possible manner.

LOL

Never thought of it? Guess I’ve always done it…

It's not just Brewers fans, that's true

But it does seem that’s where a lot of the venom comes from.

I will admit, I can see the resentment of some “know-it-all” Cubs fans—but that’s not the majority of the fan base. Just a vocal, obnoxious minority of the fan base.

A lot of my good friends are cub fans, come to think of it, almost everyone I work with is.

i don’t hate them at all, but I think it could the obnoxious minority that you and Marty Brennaman speak of

Sure -- I have a lot of friends who are Brewers fans

I work in Milwaukee and can talk baseball with a lot of people.

I think it is a minority, but the obnoxiousness is there. I’ve seen it, and it’s embarrassing. Just like some of the behavior at Camp Randall is embarrassing to me.

Camp Randall CAN get out of hand...

...but for the vast majority, it’s one of the best venues for college football I’ve been to. But I’m a tad biased…being a Badger n all…

Dan

As am I (obviously)

The venue is great, but over-rated beyond the general grandstands. The student section isn’t full until the 2nd quarter, they do the wave when UW has the ball, and the ES-FU chant is beyond juvenille.

When did you graduate from UW?

I graduated in 2004

young pup!

I graduated in 1995

where in SE WI do you live?
Kenosha
No kiddin'

As I mentioned, that’s where I grew up. I live in Racine at the moment.

2005 alum here
Hey brew

Is battlekow your site admin over there?

no, Jeff Sackmann is

However, listen to every word battlekow or dixieflatline have to say because those two are great baseball minds and they really should be heavily involved within someone’s organization.

Hmm. Okay thanks for the advice will do.
They do know their baseball..

We have a few here like cywers, just to name one, who should work for a big league team.

More importantly...

Is Kirbir hot?...j/k..

I don't know...is Sue ;)
I don't know either...lol..

There’s only one here who I know is hot for sure, but she hasn’t been on much lately. And she works in minor league baseball btw.

ah, yes....
The other KOW...:)

I keep meaning to go to one of the Flyer’s games one of these days. I hear the park is beautiful, and I know the games are fun, cause I used to go to a lot of Cougar’s games.

Alright boys...Im hittin the hay

Good win for your team tonight. Thanks for staying up and chatting with me.

Like I said earlier, Im in a good mood, its only July. However, if it were the last series of the year and it meant something, I would currently be installing a virus within your site. Just kidding

nice chatting -- good night
Later man..

enjoyed the chat!

I grew up in Madison

in the late-70s, early 80s. I got the same “Cubs suck” stuff from Brewer “fans” that you got. Physically assaulted too, although those kids were probably just looking for an excuse.

I bet a Brewer fan 2 dollars at 10-1 odds that the Cubs would win the NL East in 1984. Bastard never paid up, of course.

Oh, and while I don’t market this information, neither do I hide it. I’m a Packer fan, and I don’t hate Bears fans. I actually cheered for the Bears in 1986 to win the Super Bowl because I hated the Patriots even back then and because I respected Walter Payton so much. Hated him when he played the Packers, but respected him greatly.

I actually dislike the Vikings more than the Bears. Sorry to all Bears fans.

Cool. Sorry I wasn't still online when you posted

would have chatted

White Sox lose...a perfect night!

...soon they will be in second and have Detroit nipping at ‘em

How would a Sox lose be a perfect night for a fan ...

... of the Cubbies? All I’ve ever hear from Cubbie fans is how Cubbie fans don’t care nor pay attention to the Sox?

Honestly, just stop saying it Cubbie fans. With maybe a rare exception it’s simply an urban myth.

i could care less what the sox do...

as do most of the people on this site…some exceptions though…

Agreed. The only Chicago baseball team I care about is the Cubs
Many, many exceptions

And proof would be tonight. Cubbies win, in 1st place yet the Sox-obsession continues.

I've only seen one post cheering the Sox loss tonight.
You haven't looked very close

n/t

I was cheering for the Twins

but I am from Minnesota

Where in MN?

I’m from Mankato, got fam in the Cities, Duluth, Faribault…

Yeah...the Sox lost!
Huh?
crawford is just trying

to find something to bash us about…

Hurts to have hypocrisy exposed.

n/t

it's a twisty-turny

flip-flop woild…

Then why are you always over here

if you don’t care about just seeing the Cubs lose?

You post over a thousand more times here than on the White Sox board. What does that say about you?

oh, the coppery.
Night all...time to walk the pooches....
night...enjoy the walk
have a great time!

:-)

speaking of pooches..

bob barker is on WGN..

Night everyone!

:-)

Course if I can’t sleep I’ll prolly be back.

sleep well...
night cubbiegirl!

I’ll prolly still be here if you come back..

Night!

Sleep well!!! :)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I just got in

After the postgame interview of ARam, as they went to break, WGN replayed his double to left. Did anyone else see Fielder take a swipe at ARam’s ummm… cajones? He hit him on the upper thigh as he went by him. Someone wrote off Fielder’s constant tagging on pickoff throws as “playful”, but this is just wrong. Even if he and ARam are buds, the umps can’t allow that garbage.

It was mentioned in the game thread...

Fielder just like to play around…I don’t think A-Ram minded…

Thanks

I figured one of the multitude would have mentioned it.

Big night. My daughter just got engaged.

Congrats!

Now all you have to do is win the lottery so you can pay for the wedding…j/k, j/k…

Happy paying for the wedding!
Comments overheard at the "other" BCB:

—That’s it, I’m officially cheering for the wildcard.

—Someone posted a picture of a real-life dead cub, so SWL posted a picture of Bernie Brewer sliding into a cheese grader. Excellente!

Dan

Nice

I wish I could like the Brewers. I really do. But crap like that makes me hope they never make the postseason.

Exactly

I feel the same way. Their inferiority complex is maddening

this is how they are.

don’t see them changing any time soon. The Brewers fans and the White-Sox fans should get together and go bowling.

Except

That would probably result in a knife fight. Or Milwaukee dumping more sewage into Lake Michigan

Interesting thing about that

No complaints about beaches as a result of that in Racine, Kenosha or Lake County. Just Dicky Daley . . . the sewage magically hit Chicago and avoided everything else in between.

Or a thugish gang of festively attired Cubbie fans...

... attacking and knocking someone’s eyeball out of it’s socket.

a brewers fan

never has gotten in a fight with another teams fan?? cmon

it was wrong...im not promoting it...

but saying cubs fans are like that is stupid…that cubs fan(s) are liek “that

Yeah, that was just ugly
Ugly acts...

... are not the sole possession of any group of fans. To imply that it’s unique to the Sox is moronic.

I never did

So please don’t imply that I did—even if you didn’t mean to.

Maybe not this time, but...

... “Zuletafan” did and you didn’t seem to mind.

I don't think that I need to police every comment

And I don’t think failing to catch it is an implication of my feelings.

You talk about the Cubs’ fans obsessions, yet you come here often seemingly with a chip of your own on your shoulder. Why? Your team is in first place – enjoy it. If Cubs fans say crap, who cares? Your team is in first place!

You seem to be knowledgeable about baseball and have made good points on the board that I’ve seen over the months. But quite frankly, I don’t appreciate the tone of a lot of your posts - and this isn’t the first time you’ve directed one at me. I don’t know what your problem with me is, but I’ve got nothing against you - except that occasional attitude.

Pinch, yes.

Take your eyeball out, no.

let that go...

seriously

Crawdad...

You’re not helping your own case here by wanting an apology from everyone here for every dumb comment made about the Sox. Just because we don’t jump down a guy’s throat for saying something stupid that’s also Sox-related doesn’t mean we’re all giving the guy e-high-fives or whatever.

Does this help? I’M SORRY that a bunch of troglodyte Cub fans jumped that one guy and kicked his eye out. I’M SORRY a couple of BCB people were happy the Sox lost tonight. I’M SORRY a few BCB people like using dumb stereotypes to characterize Sox fans. I’M SORRY you think Cubdom is a monolithically hypocritical collective because of these things. Can we stop keeping running tallies of stupid and get back to supporting our teams, please?

yes, we know.

in fact,a Cubs fan posted it here days ago, condemning it.

that’s an awful high horse you got there. Sure you can handle it?

+1

They’re both just totally jealous because the Cubs have so many fans.

That's a HUGE part of it
I went over there to argue some guy's point about Chicago

and his response to my argument was I am a troll. nice..

That's why I don't bother with them

They actually hate being ignored more.

meh well am out won't go for 1100 posts

cya tomorrow

later chanman..
Boring

After Sunday’s thriller come from behind win and yesterday’s EXCITING game – tonite was a little boring.

I love boring wins!

nice to have

a laugher every once in a while. Or, you know… twice in a while…

Would be hard to beat last night's game...

That was just orgasmic!

You fell asleep right after we won?
Had a cigarette first...
DID YOU SAY...

...Pottergasm?

Me too.

No heart attacks tonight. :)

No this one was great

Didn’t even put gameday on, just read the posts and enjoyed a stress free belting of the Brew…excellent

Yeah -- let's have another tomorrow!
Right.

to bed with me, sirs and madams, to BED with me!

Let’s go for #3 tomorrow!

I hope this is a statement....

and not a command.

SWL: you gave me a great laugh as I read the Brewer website

...thanks for the giggles.

GO CUBS GOOOOOOO GO CUBS GOOOOO HEY CHICAGO WHAT DO YA SAY
ok now I am OFFICIALLY out

later..

goodnight and good job on the Brewer website...hostile crowd there!

“The Cubs will stick 7 past Sheets today”

This is premature

But I love the pecking order that is being established.

Brewers sweep the Cards
Cubs (I dare not say) the Brewers

it all seems so right

Clutch performance

from both Lilly and Z!

If this performance does not put Carlos Zambrano among the favorites for the Cy Young this year, then something is wrong.

I know there's some BCBers still up over at the "other" BCB...

...and I think we’ve added to their grand total of posts tonight by about 22%.

Dan

the opening thread comments for brew crew ball...

Going for the Cubs: Zambrano.

Going for the Brewers: Sheets.

Looks about even to me. Lucky for us, grit is on our side.

thought it was funny
It was about an even matchup, though

Just glad it turned out the way it did

Even funnier

was the comment, made after Braun made the catch on Fukudome in the first inning, the Braun should get a gold glove “for real” they said.

Who won the Peoria game at Wrigley?
Suspended in the ninth inning because of rain

tied at 6. I guess they’ll finish it tomorrow at Peoria.

another no-no going

doug davis is perfect through six

but it's not a "real" no-no...

he’s throwing it against San Diego.

SWL

i see people refer to you as “swl”...u know youve made it when you have your own abbreviation

good point, PMCF
oh wow!!
Try to ignore NTW...he gets carried away.
you HAVE

to keep that avatar!!!

Actually, SWL stands for

Satan’s
Wild-eyed
Lunatic

damn!

base hit, there it goes.

Too bad

At least it was a sharp single

seems like

every time i actually tune in to see one, it gets broken up.

(i should probably stop watching the cubs)

crawdad...are you a brew fan? or a sox fan??
Diehard Sox fan he is...
Except he never actually talks about the Sox

only about the Cubs and their fans. His favorite tactic is the strawman: to find one Cub fan saying something, twisting it, and then saying that it’s representative of all Cub fans.

He’s not a Sox fan. He’s a professional troll.

I think he’s Bill O’Reilly.

he doesn't talk about

loofahs enough.

quit feeding the troll.
me so happy...

me want to cry!

We are over a THOUSAND posts short of last night...

...WOW.

Not as much fretting tonight

no need for the max strength pepto!

fewer trolls too
way fewer.

I never had to use my sue quote.

I have a feeling if

Dempster has a shaky performance tonight youomay get your chance to use it.

Well, last night was special...

being the first game in an important series. And it was so thrilling, we all needed each other’s support I guess.

Good story by Gene @ ESPN about...

...how the teams and us fans have morphed this rivalry into something more, something a bit more special.

Here.

Dan

Glad to read....

this kinda article – I’ve been waiting for it…

Fukudome starts to show adjustments

Good find

Thanks, Dragon!

Sorry m'lady, that would be me...

shouldn’t you be catching up on your reading?

Should be sleeping... but still too wound up.

No way I could read, w/ visions of cubs dancing in my head. lol

I may be the last post

I am working third shift. Same for anyone else or just a bunch of insomniacs?

That was a nice way to wake up here in the desert this morning, get up, fire up the computer, check espn and see that…..CUBS WIN!!!!!

And to top it off the new private we got in the other day is a cubs fan too. This oughta be good!

SRO @ Miller Park

Any advice as to where the best spot to stand @ Miller park if you have Standing Room tickets? Headed north tomorrow, Go Cubs!!!

You must Login with your SB Nation account and be a member of Bleed Cubbie Blue to post a comment.
