It would be a very modest effect, and only in seasonal totals.
You’d see fewer chances, but normally when comparing players you do runs per a standardized number of chances – generally the average number of chances for a full-time player at that position.
went to last night’s game. Said after the third inning the Brewers fans were out of it, and by the seventh there was a mass exodus and it was “Let’s go Cubbies” and “Go Cubs Go” all over Wrigley Field North.
lil dark... but it use to be my sisters camera and she said that its something easy to fix
Honestly seeing him and Z warm up at the bullpen before the game, I got up right to the front. I got to watch them. Heard the glove popping… Cubbiegirl I dialed up…. and said something like omg you will never guess i am right near the bullpen and can see our boy. this is so cool. we giggled like school girls.
Then I started to take pictures and my hands were tremoring abit. So a Brewer fan took a few of them for me. Until I composed myself a bit more. It was such a neat expeience.
they just finished there game so it could be done soon. but looks like it might go into tomorrow. I’m guessing the big names are taken care of, its probably the prospects they are figuring out.
i’m in boston – the one game i went to manny hit a game-tying two run HR over the monster in the bottom of the 8th…i for one am sad to see him go but i’m not sad AT ALL to see bay outta the NL central
You know, if I were a brewers negative fan I would point out that...
A) My manager is a moron B) My right fielder (hart) continually plays singles into doubles/triples (geez, he pulls up on EVERYTHING C) My catcher can’t throw out my grandma (unless it is a pitch out, which I am surprised that they didn’t call ON EVERY PITCH D) No matter how many times this “young” team mentions how much they “learned” by choking on the pressure last year, they still haven’t learned how to handle a big series (and bull hooey to any talking head that mentions that there are no big series in July)
Hart is a pretty decent fielder but needs to take his head out of his ass. C) Im pretty sure that Kendall leads the league in throwing out runners. D) they have been awful this series but they did pretty well in a pressure filled Cardinals series.
If I’d told you at the beginning of the ASB that at the end of the Cubs series you’d have a winning record against the Central Division stretch (Cards, Astros and Cubs), wouldn’t you have taken it?
I recognize that this Cubs series is disappointing, but the sweep of the Cardinals had to be satisfying.
The playoff order isn’t determined in August, and your rotation should still be solid for a stretch run with most of your games at home in September.
It’s up to the Cubs, IMO, to make their run now until the end of August and hold on down the stretch.
and with people on base, the pitcher is in the stretch. and that’s the most important part of clogging up the bases. making the pitcher uncomfortable by being in the stretch.
or do the Cubs in this series look like the Cubs? Offense, defense, pitching, and a hint of swagger while beating a very good team 3 times in a row in their yard.
that whoever started for the NL in an all-star game at Yankees Stadium was the Game 1 starter in the World Series that same season? And guess who started for the NL this season?
Man, pulling out all that stat is not going to ruin my night!!!
Sorry, sorry. Didn't mean to throw this at you. But I have been reading it an awful lot lately...
and we have been winning…so I am not complaining. But I just don’t want to have those kinds of expecations. I expect big time bats to produce consistently.
Really resembles a 13-year-old troll with bad manners. I agree that drewish seems a little churlish this evening, but consider that you may be contributing.
Just suggesting that you take a considered look at posts that tend to be argumentative with no actual content or point other than “so there.” I don’t consider it hypocritical to hold up a mirror. I’m not the only one noticing trollish tendencies over the last several games. Just asking you to consider it. In any case, I’m done.
I am just looking for some analysis out there. Before calling me a troll please look at my entire history of posts. Yes, drewish and I go back and forth a little….but it is all in good fun (at least I hope it is for him too).
I don’t. However, I have been watching him closely, as I am sure you have. TO ME, something just seems off. All of the ground balls…All of the balls in his wheel house that used to be driven out of the park (or somewhere with authority) are just now deep fly balls. Without analysis, this just becomes just a love fest during wins, or a pity party during losses. I am just looking for some critical opinions here. Not people who can’t look beyond the surface.
Just give some thought to the player that you are watching in these at bats, and tell me that he reminds you of the guy we have watched scorch balls the last couple of years.
Not accusing you of being a hater. A good at bat is just that, whether by a player you think is scuffling or one you think isn’t (as in the drewish one’s opinion). You asked “Can we stop with the praising of players who have ‘great at bats’ when all they do is work a count full and then do nothing with it?”
We disagree with your premise; we don’t question your love of DLee. Good work by somebody who’s been King GIDP is still good work… and maybe signs of a turn of fortune.
Perhaps I picked a bad time to harp about the "great at bat" comments (sorry hbcg)
but I have been seeing them for everyone lately. It started bothering me in the last loss to the Marlins. The last at bat of the game, people were praising Dome for a great at bat. To end the game. Big deal. Admittedly, DLee’s at bat was nice…in that he didn’t strike out. But he very nearly GIDP again (one more foot and Hall gets 3rd base and whips it to first to get Lee).
na....have you seen their starter pitch counts this week?
no way all 3 of them make it through the season without an injury….not that i wish that on anyone, but maddox is doing a terrible job of coming out an calming them down…a lot of high pressure pitches, where some of our guys have had high counts, but not high stress pitches
i called a 7-2 cubs win b4 the game…three nights in a row that i called the correct score and winning team…like the ffith game score ive called on like 5 tries
he struck out 2, and gave up a solo shot, and everyone is all over him…i know 7-1 and 7-0 all u want to do is pitch strikes, but he gave up one bad pitch, just like cotts (shark walked a dude, and then got unlucky, cause the dude was running and scored on a double)
no 1. Sori will get at least one XBH
yes 2. Demp will give up 2 ER in 7 IP
no 3. A Cubs OF will make a great catch sometime tonight
yes 4. DeRo will reach base twice
yes 5. The Cubs will have at least 1 PH tonight
yes 6. The Cubs will win by whatever score preacher says…
yes 7. (going out on a limb…) The Brewers will make at least 2 atrocious plays on defense.
no 8. Marmol will get the save
why don’t you put these things in context? Since March 16, Sue has had 16733 comments. That’s .005%.
I’ve had 36 comments that have the word “Sox” in them (of course, that could include the RED Sox, but you’re way too myopic about that to notice). My total# of comments? 10669, which makes my Sox (Red or White?) obsession .003 percent!
YOU, however, have 1312 comments here, and they’re ALL ABOUT THE WHITE SOX. This is not a White Sox board. This is a Cubs board.
On the White Sox board? 7 comments. SEVEN COMMENTS! Some fan you are, you don’t spend ANY TIME on the board for YOUR OWN TEAM!
Furthermore, all your comments about the White Sox aren’t even really ABOUT the White Sox, but about how, somehow, the White Sox don’t get the respect “they deserve”. You wanna know what, buddy? If the White Sox need respect, they’ll have to go out and earn it. I’m sorry that they somehow don’t GET that respect even after winning a World Series, but you play the hand you’ve been dealt, I suppose. Sucks for you. I don’t care.
The White Sox are in first place. That’s nice. I don’t really pay that much attention to the White Sox. I dislike the stadium they play in, I think the management and front office are terse, whiny, offensive and a joke, and from what I can tell as a relatively uninterested observer, the team is playing WAY over its head. But hey, the Cardinals did that in the past few years, and they’ve had great success, so if that’s what happens, frakkin MAZELTOV.
talk about the Sux I will add my opinion on them. I can’t figure out why my feelings on the Sux bothers you so much. If I went to a Sux board and voiced my opinions then you would have something to whine about but I don’t. I’m sharing my opinions on a CUBS site with other CUB fans. You are really an insecure person in your Sux fandom.
Which side of your mouth are you speaking out of this time?
You say don’t give a damn about the Sox and then post hundreds of times (I only searched your use of Sox and your snarky, “Sux” not every time you’ve posted about the Sox) about the Sox.
Seems to me that if you truly didn’t give a damn about the Sox you’d ignore them and or not post so often about them.
Now go back to talking out of both sides of your mouth. That said though, that’s not the orifice you are using.
I respect what the Twins do year after year with their minimal payroll
and shit-hole ballpark, but I also agree with you that posting glee about the White Sox doesn’t belong here. I grew up in Chicago and I feel 0% affection for them. It is a low class organization that is difficult to respect.
The Cubs are having a fine season, and you should be feeling good about the last few games over the Brewers, but I hate to break the news to you, the Cubs are not evenly matched with the Angels. Heck, the Cubs merely went .500 against the Sox. And the Cubs finished with a losing record against the AL.
Nice try to twist my words. The Sox are good, perhaps on par with the Cubbies. But in response to the posts comparison, the Cubs are not as good as the Angels.
but the cubs are absolutely demolishing their closest division rival while the sox were lucky to get out with a lead.
Look, the sox had a good win tonight, mazel tov. Quentin is a monster. But to state that the Cubs are not on par with the Angels is simply your opinion and it was expressed smugly. No reason for that.
THIS team, TODAY’s team can beat any baseball team out there.
Personally, I don’t want an all-Chicago WS. If the Cubs lost, it would be damn near unbearable, and if the Cubs won, it would also be damn near unbearable, mostly because of the constant in-your-face or napolean-complex-bitching of Sox fans.
someone standing in my living room screaming epithets. I see no reason to ignore this.
He’s in OUR HOUSE, and he’s talking crap. I posted about the White Sox last night because I went to CSN looking for a Cubs post-game, and saw a monster hr by Swisher, which I posted a legitimate compliment about. He needs to stop getting up in our grill, in OUR HOUSE, or he’s gonna reap what he sows.
I don’t know if the Angels are a better team than the Cubs. We’ll find out in October. But I DO know that the White Sox have been playing way over their heads. And so does he. And THAT is why he comes here, to OUR HOUSE, and stir up trouble.
Here’s a hint—be happy with your own team. Stop being so caught up in someone else’s team. It is not our fault you feel inferior. If necessary, consult with a psychologist.
Me neither. Developmentally disabled people are the most true, pure people. There is no pretense with them, if they are happy, you can see it on their faces and hear it in their voices. They are not capable of hate, or revenge. God bless the meek.
...but from a former special education teacher and current doctoral student, it is usually preferred to use “first-first” language, as in it is the person that is able, not the disability. So, “he has a physical disability” rather than “he’s disabled” or the like. I like where your head’s at though, thanks for the extra voice for my people (special ed)!
...”person-first” language, but somehow got that wrong. You were close enough, just sharing knowledge with a fellow friend.
Really, it’s the language that matters secondary. I’m learning that the best part of “special” education is that which should be apart of “general” education = serving the needs of each child, individually, rather than a blanket of cold, impersonal services.
I love talking about the White Sox about as much at I love talking
About getting a root canal.
Spare us your banter about how Tonight’s wins where wonderful and this that and whatever. Spare us your “Well you know the White Sox are .500 against the Cubs” Blah blah blah
Post your White Sox crap on a White Sox blog with White Sox fans that actually give a damn about the White Sox.
And we’ll worry about the Cubs and OUR team not yours.
...it’s the White Sox. Last time I checked, they’re in the AL, and we don’t have to worry about them until MUCH later in the season, if situation so presents itself. Until then, nothing to talk about.
You don’t think it’s odd that so many here boldly say that they don’t care about the Sox and don’t pay any attention to them (when the Sox win) but when they lose they jump for joy and post repeatedly about the Sox?
If you don’t give a damn about the Sox (as stated above) then fine. But then when you make 50+ posts about them, it shouldn’t be a surprise when you’re called on that.
what i think is odd is that you're so bent out of shape about it
they’re the other team from the city. I dont’ particularly care for them or their average fan… but I don’t wish anything but good health and fair play on them.
but I have had to do the same in response to the Cubbies many times over the years. Its a bad feeling, but the important part is that its a bad feeling for them at this moment, not us!
I can't believe everything has clicked so welll...
...especially considering the ups and downs we have had lately. The offensive looks great, the pitching looks out of this world, and we are beating up or division rivals. Kudos to everyone.
And they just had a segment where they discussed Manny Ramirez’s time to first base, and how his slow time meant he was a clubhouse cancer, and he doesn’t hustle so he doesn’t care about the team, and blah blah blah…
This is crap. Manny has never hustled down to first, but, you know what, that’s sort of ok. Why? Because when you hit the ball as far as he does, you can crawl to first.
I sincerely hope that the scribes at Firejoemorgan write about this…
and Manny couldn’t be more full of himself if he tried. I like the show he puts on and he is somewhat entertaining, but he isn’t as endearing to me after reading that me me me statement about the BoSox.
...Ned is the worst manager in all of baseball. I can’t believe he’s not gone already. Does he have control of that clubhouse? Do the players like him?
then leave Suppan in the rotation. If they were really “Going for it” Suppan would not be starting. I don’t care how much he’s getting paid or his history.
Missed the thread tonight.....had to sneak peeks at the score while with my girlfriend....
but WOW, just WOW…..never thought this series would end up making me feel so “giggly”....talk about a perfect time for the bats to wake up and our amazing starting pitchers to put on a great show…...I cannot even decide which starter had the most gusty amazing performance…..probably go with Z or maybe Demps…..

You know, if I were a brewers negative fan I would point out that...
A) My manager is a moron
B) My right fielder (hart) continually plays singles into doubles/triples (geez, he pulls up on EVERYTHING
C) My catcher can’t throw out my grandma (unless it is a pitch out, which I am surprised that they didn’t call ON EVERY PITCH
D) No matter how many times this “young” team mentions how much they “learned” by choking on the pressure last year, they still haven’t learned how to handle a big series (and bull hooey to any talking head that mentions that there are no big series in July)
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
a buddy of mine is a brewer fan and not even a negative one.......
admits A
Madison Cub Fan - July 30, 2008
I agree with A.
Hart is a pretty decent fielder but needs to take his head out of his ass.
C) Im pretty sure that Kendall leads the league in throwing out runners.
D) they have been awful this series but they did pretty well in a pressure filled Cardinals series.
brewfan2 - July 30, 2008
Honest question...
NotSure - July 31, 2008
C'mon Cubs. Get another run!!!

They added up to a nice big 0-5 for Dlee tonight

Why are you so antagonistic…
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
because you find
the cloud around every silver lining.
Stop worrying. Enjoy the win. The glass isn’t half-empty—it’s overflowing.
drewishdrewid - July 30, 2008
Living in St. Louis has been hard on me in that respect.
Sorry. Its not too much worse than finding a diamond in every glass of feces. Actually, that would be kind of cool to find.
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
Um, this comment
Really resembles a 13-year-old troll with bad manners. I agree that drewish seems a little churlish this evening, but consider that you may be contributing.
arioso - July 30, 2008
Isn't referring to someone as a thirteen year old troll...
hypocritical? Turn the other cheek much?
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
Okay, I'm out
Just suggesting that you take a considered look at posts that tend to be argumentative with no actual content or point other than “so there.” I don’t consider it hypocritical to hold up a mirror. I’m not the only one noticing trollish tendencies over the last several games. Just asking you to consider it. In any case, I’m done.
Have a nice evening.
arioso - July 30, 2008
I understand your concern
I am just looking for some analysis out there. Before calling me a troll please look at my entire history of posts. Yes, drewish and I go back and forth a little….but it is all in good fun (at least I hope it is for him too).
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
Not paying attention?
Right. “For Dlee tonight”. Please refer to earlier sensible statements. DLee’s numbers tonight don’t determine the output. But his contributions certainly do.
arioso - July 30, 2008
You all have me hating DLee here
Just give some thought to the player that you are watching in these at bats, and tell me that he reminds you of the guy we have watched scorch balls the last couple of years.
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
its less you (from me anyway)
and more the UMPTEEN THOUSAND comments of “Maybe he needs a day off”.. they’ve worn me out. And I want them to stop.
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 30, 2008
You're losing track of the thread
Not accusing you of being a hater. A good at bat is just that, whether by a player you think is scuffling or one you think isn’t (as in the drewish one’s opinion). You asked “Can we stop with the praising of players who have ‘great at bats’ when all they do is work a count full and then do nothing with it?”
We disagree with your premise; we don’t question your love of DLee. Good work by somebody who’s been King GIDP is still good work… and maybe signs of a turn of fortune.
arioso - July 30, 2008
Perhaps I picked a bad time to harp about the "great at bat" comments (sorry hbcg)
but I have been seeing them for everyone lately. It started bothering me in the last loss to the Marlins. The last at bat of the game, people were praising Dome for a great at bat. To end the game. Big deal. Admittedly, DLee’s at bat was nice…in that he didn’t strike out. But he very nearly GIDP again (one more foot and Hall gets 3rd base and whips it to first to get Lee).
tapdeer - July 30, 2008
na....have you seen their starter pitch counts this week?
no way all 3 of them make it through the season without an injury….not that i wish that on anyone, but maddox is doing a terrible job of coming out an calming them down…a lot of high pressure pitches, where some of our guys have had high counts, but not high stress pitches
Zakh - July 30, 2008
This is true...
However, have they been doing this consistently? It is hard to predict an injury
tapdeer - July 30, 2008

Teams that get lots of runners on…real good.

no 1. Sori will get at least one XBH

yes 2. Demp will give up 2 ER in 7 IP

no 3. A Cubs OF will make a great catch sometime tonight

yes 4. DeRo will reach base twice

yes 5. The Cubs will have at least 1 PH tonight

yes 6. The Cubs will win by whatever score preacher says…

yes 7. (going out on a limb…) The Brewers will make at least 2 atrocious plays on defense.

no 8. Marmol will get the save
5 for 8…not bad, eh?

SOX WIN! SOX WIN!
The last few nights there have been quite a few posts here about Sox losses. So, clearly Cubs fans at bleed Cubbie blue enjoy talking about the Sox.
The Sox now, regardless of what happens tomorrow, will leave Minn. in first place!
SOX WIN! CUBBIES WIN!
August 1, 2008 and BOTH Chicago baseball teams will be in first place! When has that happened previously?

STRETCH!
Outside of sue369’s 50+ comments here about the Sox, sue369 doesn’t give a damn about the Sox.
DrCrawdad - July 31, 2008
Hey, Cap'n Ahab....
why don’t you put these things in context?
I
DO
NOT
CARE.
Stop trying to make me.
drewishdrewid - July 31, 2008
When people on here
talk about the Sux I will add my opinion on them. I can’t figure out why my feelings on the Sux bothers you so much. If I went to a Sux board and voiced my opinions then you would have something to whine about but I don’t. I’m sharing my opinions on a CUBS site with other CUB fans. You are really an insecure person in your Sux fandom.
sue369 - July 31, 2008
Which side of your mouth are you speaking out of this time?
You say don’t give a damn about the Sox and then post hundreds of times (I only searched your use of Sox and your snarky, “Sux” not every time you’ve posted about the Sox) about the Sox.
Seems to me that if you truly didn’t give a damn about the Sox you’d ignore them and or not post so often about them.
Now go back to talking out of both sides of your mouth. That said though, that’s not the orifice you are using.
DrCrawdad - July 31, 2008
Nice victory
I was at a Sox-Twins game in September 2003 that the Sox won, and I think both teams were in first place then.
As I posted earlier:
Carlos Quentin…real good.
Curtain Jerker - July 30, 2008
everyime i've talked about the recent sox losses
were because i love the way the twins play. i’ve been really impressed w/ them.
but keep feeling repressed if thats what you want. whatever. great job on watching your team win… now, WTF are you doing here?
halfblindcubbiegirl - July 30, 2008
I respect what the Twins do year after year with their minimal payroll
and shit-hole ballpark, but I also agree with you that posting glee about the White Sox doesn’t belong here. I grew up in Chicago and I feel 0% affection for them. It is a low class organization that is difficult to respect.
LAcarl519 - July 30, 2008
Could these record hold up
through the rest of the month? season? playoffs? and maybe…... nah can’t say it yet
love the ivy - July 30, 2008
Honestly
I’d rather face the White Sox in the world series than the Angels. Root for them and root hard.
Cubs stand a VERY good chance against the white sox. Evenly matched with the Angels.
Sorry Crawdad.
cubsonWGN4ever - July 30, 2008
It would sure be something amazing to see!
love the ivy - July 30, 2008
Cubs evenly matched with Angels?
The Cubs are having a fine season, and you should be feeling good about the last few games over the Brewers, but I hate to break the news to you, the Cubs are not evenly matched with the Angels. Heck, the Cubs merely went .500 against the Sox. And the Cubs finished with a losing record against the AL.
DrCrawdad - July 30, 2008
So...
are you saying the Sox are not good and that .500 against them is not a good thing?
mondello58 - July 30, 2008
Twist..
Nice try to twist my words. The Sox are good, perhaps on par with the Cubbies. But in response to the posts comparison, the Cubs are not as good as the Angels.
DrCrawdad - July 30, 2008
You said
merely 500 against the Sox. No twisting necessary.
mondello58 - July 30, 2008

mondello58 - July 30, 2008
This is a pointless discussion at this point in time...
Let’s get to the playoffs first, then we can talk about who would beat who. Unitl then, it’s all make believe.
Jimmyeatworld - July 30, 2008
True
mondello58 - July 30, 2008
I really don't like to be snarky
but the cubs are absolutely demolishing their closest division rival while the sox were lucky to get out with a lead.
Look, the sox had a good win tonight, mazel tov. Quentin is a monster. But to state that the Cubs are not on par with the Angels is simply your opinion and it was expressed smugly. No reason for that.
cubsonWGN4ever - July 30, 2008
Opinion, but...
... also true.
DrCrawdad - July 30, 2008
keep thinking that.
drewishdrewid - July 30, 2008
Whatever
the post season is a crap-shoot.

Me neither. Developmentally disabled people are the most true, pure people. There is no pretense with them, if they are happy, you can see it on their faces and hear it in their voices. They are not capable of hate, or revenge. God bless the meek.
Jimmyeatworld - July 30, 2008
Not trying to nit-pick with you Jimmy John's...
...but from a former special education teacher and current doctoral student, it is usually preferred to use “first-first” language, as in it is the person that is able, not the disability. So, “he has a physical disability” rather than “he’s disabled” or the like. I like where your head’s at though, thanks for the extra voice for my people (special ed)!

Jimmyeatworld - July 30, 2008
I meant...
...”person-first” language, but somehow got that wrong. You were close enough, just sharing knowledge with a fellow friend.
Really, it’s the language that matters secondary. I’m learning that the best part of “special” education is that which should be apart of “general” education = serving the needs of each child, individually, rather than a blanket of cold, impersonal services.

If you don’t give a damn about the Sox (as stated above) then fine. But then when you make 50+ posts about them, it shouldn’t be a surprise when you’re called on that.

That made me chuckle too
but I have had to do the same in response to the Cubbies many times over the years. Its a bad feeling, but the important part is that its a bad feeling for them at this moment, not us!
love the ivy - July 30, 2008
I can't believe everything has clicked so welll...
...especially considering the ups and downs we have had lately. The offensive looks great, the pitching looks out of this world, and we are beating up or division rivals. Kudos to everyone.

WELCOME!!!
dtpollitt - July 30, 2008
Watching Baseball Tonight...
I sincerely hope that the scribes at Firejoemorgan write about this…
Curtain Jerker - July 30, 2008
The team is whining
and Manny couldn’t be more full of himself if he tried. I like the show he puts on and he is somewhat entertaining, but he isn’t as endearing to me after reading that me me me statement about the BoSox.
love the ivy - July 30, 2008
I strongly dislike Manny's attitude towards some aspects of the game...
...but the guy can hit the SHIT outta the ball. First ballot HOFer, one of the best hitters ever, whatever you wanna call him, the man can hit.

Shanghai Badger - July 30, 2008
brewfan!
I kept away the other BCB tonight. Didn’t want to stir the pot. What’s up?
dtpollitt - July 30, 2008
Not too much. It's pretty quiet over there tonight. Thought I'd stop by.
This is becoming a therapeutic way to get over my worries of zero clutch hitting.
brewfan2 - July 30, 2008
sat by some cool Brewers fans tonight
one commented that they were lucky to beat the Cards with the lack of hitting . . . didn’t realize it’d been going on that long.
Shanghai Badger - July 30, 2008
Yeah, that whole series was pretty awful with guys in scoring position
At least in that one we had some clutch home runs.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
I can't believe Parra tonight...
...2B and 3B?
Our pitching has been pretty solid too. Parra and CC did fine, too, the offense just wasn’t there.
dtpollitt - July 31, 2008
Thank you Ned for trying a hit and run with the pitcher up.
The very next pitch Parra got the triple.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
actually, I liked the call
Except it was the second time in the AB. 1st time, element of surprise. Second time, questionable.
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
I wouldn't mind the call if Ned put on some more action with other players.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
that's what the brewer fan behind me said, essentially

TWSS
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - July 31, 2008
thought about it...
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
Honestly...
...Ned is the worst manager in all of baseball. I can’t believe he’s not gone already. Does he have control of that clubhouse? Do the players like him?
dtpollitt - July 31, 2008
It's easy to complain about the guy when they're hitting like crap
But he has been a lot better this year than last.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
do you think he learned from last year?
he handled the pen really poorly—autopilot with Wise, Turnbow and Cordero
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
maybe
but the bullpen isn’t doing him any favors this year either. He definitely left Turnbow in pressure situations way too long.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
agreed there
why did he leave Suppan in so long on Sunday?
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
I hate how they talk about "Going for it"
then leave Suppan in the rotation. If they were really “Going for it” Suppan would not be starting. I don’t care how much he’s getting paid or his history.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
that whole "platoon starter" thing is bizarre
That can’t do a thing for the rythym of McClung & Bush—or their confidence in other parks.
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
Nope
It’s stupid. It wouldn’t be totally insane if they would actually pitch in some relief roles, but they rarely do.
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
right now, they should let McClung and Bush pitch
and put Soup in the pen
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
that's what i'd do, but Soup would be little help coming out of the pen
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
trade you Marquis for him?
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
hmmmmm
how about Turnbow for Marquis?
brewfan2 - July 31, 2008
Done!
Shanghai Badger - July 31, 2008
so did we.
Our section was way better behaved than last year.
