If Sori would have jacked one, then Riot, DLee, and Ramy each grounded out, we would be in exactly the same situation, except that we wouldn’t be bitching about it.
that his injury paved the way for A-Ram, which isn’t bad. Because if he’s not hurt, maybe the Cubs don’t look for Kenny Lofton and get A-Ram gift-wrapped for them.
3-0! Now we put a local theory to the test – that Z stinks it up on the mound after he homers. Not my theory, hope to see it crushed in the next 4 or 5 innings…

Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
I'm having a hard time with these close games lately...lol
carmen_fanzone - August 21, 2008
yeah, i think i've developed an ulcer

Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
If you're a cubs fan

I keep trying to do this
And then drink it all :)
Stan Cox - August 21, 2008
it's quite a feat
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
Just the drinking the stockpile
If I mix drinks I get into such a state that I dont dare do it.
Stan Cox - August 21, 2008
i just got from mexico
so i’ve got some extra tequilla that needs drank. so i figure october (knock on wood) would be a good time for it.
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
or just got back from mexico..
that might make more sense.
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
just got back from mexico also

cubsonWGN4ever - August 21, 2008
Do you drink the tequila to kill the taste
of the Styles or vice versa??? LOL
BigJohnAZ - August 21, 2008
the winner
tootle - August 21, 2008
well, the tequilla is more of a pre-game thing
“liquor before beer, never fear.” or for when things get bad. Old Style is for during the game.
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
Or the psychiatrist's LOL
BigJohnAZ - August 21, 2008
Who do they play?
They’re off today.

daver - August 21, 2008

Is it me? Should I leave?
DeRoMyHero - August 21, 2008
Didn't DeRo hit a grand slam when you were here?
Stick around. He had a great game last night.
daver - August 21, 2008
I watched one GS on TV
and heard the other on Gameday Audio.
DeRo vs. Fogg (9 PA): .714 / .750 / .857 / 1.607
I’ll stick around.
DeRoMyHero - August 21, 2008
Wow!

Great play DeRo!
Fishbone2 - August 21, 2008
Another nice play for DeRo
….Phillips swinging on 3-0….Fool.
carmen_fanzone - August 21, 2008
Dang, he has been on fire defensively.
daver - August 21, 2008
Phillips is their best hitter. Might as well let him swing...
DeRoMyHero - August 21, 2008
Z picthes out of it!

Out of the First
Wheeeew

iluvryno - August 21, 2008

So it must have been a good one.
Fishbone2 - August 21, 2008
not throwing a lot of strikes yet...
carmen_fanzone - August 21, 2008
Z is hitting 2 homers today
he is fired up!!
Blaze22 - August 21, 2008
He scares me
when he yells at himself out there.
sue369 - August 21, 2008
I wouldnt say hes fired up in a good way right now
CubsBall2202 - August 21, 2008
Maybe that will break his streak
by hitting 2. When he hits one HR, we lose.
BigJohnAZ - August 21, 2008
and he hasn't won in August in two years
Get em today, Z !!!
flachimesa - August 21, 2008
Wow, didn't know that
time to change both of those.
BigJohnAZ - August 21, 2008
Well there is one
one to go
Blaze22 - August 21, 2008
Swinging at a 3-0 pitch after
the pitcher has thrown twice as many balls as strikes in the inning. That’s what we call Bakermentals.

BigJohnAZ - August 21, 2008
But did he hustle to first?
John Q Freejazz - August 21, 2008
That's what I'm looking forward to...

yeah, what a dumbass
Emelie - August 21, 2008
wooo! 1st and toid, baby!
Emelie - August 21, 2008
So the two no-talent hacks
have created a first-and-third situation? what a bunch of losers
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
cut them all.
PurpleLineToWrigley - August 21, 2008
maybe pull them
between innings to let them know that their table-setting is not appreciated.
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
I have the solution!
We all know that Sori doesn’t usually get a good jump on short pop-flies.
We all know that Riot isn’t all that strong on popups.
We all know that Dome is a great RF.

sue369 - August 21, 2008
DLee probably leads the league in DPRBIs
Canseco's Roid Party - August 21, 2008
you know,
if you got an RBI when grounding into a DP
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
that is why i invented DPRBI
Canseco's Roid Party - August 21, 2008
i like it
and yes, i think he is leading the league.
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
I don't think he gets an RBI on a DP
At least on Gameday it does not give him one.
tucsoncubsfan - August 21, 2008
1-0 after 1....
Opportunities, boys, they’re all over the place….
carmen_fanzone - August 21, 2008
I can't believe DLee couldn't beat that out.
DeRoMyHero - August 21, 2008
That's the way to take that rally by the neck and

willie mays hayes' gloves - August 21, 2008

wigwam - August 21, 2008
So how many

DWChaney - August 21, 2008
not good
carmen_fanzone - August 21, 2008
We have a strong enough...

Hilary Lee - August 21, 2008
he hasn't walked anyone yet
that’s a good thing.
DWChaney - August 21, 2008
he walked the lead off guy in the first
I thought.
wigwam - August 21, 2008

only
the first batter of the game
nolacubbiegirl - August 21, 2008

Emelie - August 21, 2008
If you listen to some of the folks here, he sucks

It’s a wonder how the Cubs are in 1st place with the best record in the NL with these “bums.”
And we’re leading today 1-0.
flachimesa - August 21, 2008
Votto singles
wnielsen - August 21, 2008
On the bright side...

DeRoMyHero - August 21, 2008

spoiledcubbage - August 21, 2008
I'm sure we'd still find a way...hahaha
carmen_fanzone - August 21, 2008
Just realized DeRosa is hitting better than DLee....that is good
in that DeRo is doing well….but still DLee at 290/358/467? Not too good.
Canseco's Roid Party - August 21, 2008
Well, that's a .825 OPS...
…which isn’t bad. But his slugging is pretty anemic.
daver - August 21, 2008
.825 is a bit weak for a 1B...
and .828 is a bit higher than you might expect from a 2B not named Utley.
DeRoMyHero - August 21, 2008
K
1 out
wnielsen - August 21, 2008
Speaking of pace, Theriot has 144 hits, is batting .313 and
his slugging pct is less than his OBP, has that ever happened before?
willie mays hayes' gloves - August 21, 2008
oh yeah, it happens a bunch-
if you don’t hit HR it’s pretty easy to do if you have decent plate disclipline, as walking more than doubling will essentially do the trick.
Canseco's Roid Party - August 21, 2008
oh man... so close, DLee!
Emelie - August 21, 2008
Pat Hughes psych on that one.

Mapmaker - August 21, 2008
but you could make the argument
that his injury paved the way for A-Ram, which isn’t bad. Because if he’s not hurt, maybe the Cubs don’t look for Kenny Lofton and get A-Ram gift-wrapped for them.
Bill Potter - August 21, 2008
Great point.

Galvan316 - August 21, 2008
