Someone yesterday or the other day, (I thought it was you, maybe it was nervouscublover) said to DFA one of the Cubs after a poor game. When someone asked them why, they said, “because, I like saying DFA”. The whole thing was meant to be humorous; not calling anyone out at all.
Tie game, bottom of 10th, AJ at second with one out
He screws up and breaks on a grounder to short, gets in a rundown, and finally backs into one of the fielders and flopping to get interference called. 1st & 3rd, one out now.
I don't know who started it but every time Barrett was at the plate or Oswalt was batting
They always were yelling at each other. IIRC it ended up with the game being delayed once while they just stared each other down. I don’t think it ever became an actual fist fight.
oswaly had puposely hit a cub in his last start. O backed down like a girl.then after O GO’ed, Barrett trailed the play and barked at him all the way into the dugout. No one from the Astros said bleep. I would give credit for igniting them if there had been a scuffle, or even words, but it didn’t happen.
and really, I enjoyed the incident for because I found it hilaious, more than I believed it to be a sound baseball move. However, as a ballplayer my whole life, sometimes someone has to stand up for thte team. Guess they should have watched the tape before the WS
…stupidity. He chose to ingnite the Stros when they were basically dead in the water. From that point on, they woke up and caught the Cubs for the wild card.
…although Barrett could hit a little bit, the man was not blessed with any degree of baseball instincts and he showed this time and again behind the plate and on the bases.
You can thank Lou for telling Hendry to get him out of here.
the way i think about that is i’m sure z had more to do with it than barrett…..sure he wasn’t blocking balls like he should have, but i think z instigated
Fukudome’s homer wasn’t far enough (just down RF line), and DeRosa clearly isn’t doing enough to carry the team right now. And Harden allowed some hits, which is inexcusable.
…a pitchout on a 1-0 count and the pitcher ends up walking the guy to put guys on 1st and 2nd – that wasn’t very bright and it puts too much pressure on the pitcher.
thats the plus of being in first…. AND they had to blow their ’pen on a 12 ining game. Karstens might have to just take one for the team tomorrow. Lets get him.
Great to see Harden be untouchable again. That acquisition is definitely paying dividends. DeRosa continues to be a machine, and good to see Kosuke have a good at-bat. Maybe this helps turn him around.
Post game victory party! With confidence!

Do me a favor...
…check the standings the day that episode happened and compare that to seasons end and you can draw your own conclusion.
All in all, there is a time and place to get back at someone and Barrett’s timing was horrible.
MPH73 - August 24, 2008
pure correlation, in my opinion
a lot of things happened at that time. Hard to say for sure that did, or didn’t play a role.
daily2b - August 24, 2008
Could be...
…but you are always taught to let a sleeping dog lie, and at that time, the Stros were in a coma.
Bottom line, Barrett was clueless behind the plate and on the bases and it is very difficult to win with someone like that catching everyday.
MPH73 - August 24, 2008
no doubt
and really, I enjoyed the incident for because I found it hilaious, more than I believed it to be a sound baseball move. However, as a ballplayer my whole life, sometimes someone has to stand up for thte team. Guess they should have watched the tape before the WS

LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
Guillermo HGH Mota
in for the Beers.
Brandon Moss is at the plate
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Is Yost even watching this game?
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
Probably trying to keep Sabathia and Fielder from eating each other...
…it’s a long game and I’m sure they’re pining for the post-game buffet…..
Alternately, he may be ensuring that Fielder doesn’t kill Parra…
NotSure - August 24, 2008
This couldnt be better for the Cubs
a 12 inning possibly more game for the Pirates, and a possible 5.5 game lead
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
let's not get ahead of ourselves...this is the Bucs
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
Well i ment if the Pirates win
even still they will be playing 12+ inning game today heh
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Moss flies out to center 1 away
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
DAMNIT!
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
No chance on the line drive FO 8
loaded one out looking for a DP
if the Brews get it, they’ll win it in the bottom half
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
Come on you Pie Rats...Hit a fly ball!
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
How in the world did Pittsburgh put themselves in a position
where Chris Gomez gets 6 at-bats in one game?
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
FETCH!!!!
that was really close to being a dagger
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
STRUCK HIM OUT!
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
2 away
GEEEZ!!!
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
down goes Gomez
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
3 outs
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Why do the Brewers play a Jewish Wedding Song...
…to fire up their crowd? Strangest thing I’ve ever seen….
NotSure - August 24, 2008
i think someone is jewish? lol
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
then someone shouldn't look at the grill above
just sayin
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
lol
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
Can't be...they play it ALL the time....
…and I don’t have a problem with the song…just that it’s a WEIRD choice for a ballpark song…
NotSure - August 24, 2008
i agree...
i think i was thinking out loud again
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
Braun and Kapler are Jewish
plus Hava Nagila is an upbeat song, so why not?
cubsonWGN4ever - August 24, 2008
OK, but....
…they don’t play it when they bat. It just seems strange and out of place at a ball game.
NotSure - August 24, 2008
This game is over
Blowing a bases juiced – no out – extra inning opportunity on the road
fugedaboudit
4.5 cub fans
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
4.5 is better then .5
for a certain other baseball team in this town :)
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Maybe
but a 12 inning game + get away day … still a win for us going forward.
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
yup. Bucs will be stretched
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
we just gotta make them pay
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
agreed. just wrote the same the below. always happens.
wouldn’t be surprised if it happens in one batter.
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
the key is the loss column
going into today’s game, the Brewers are 5 back in the loss column
they can be 6 back after today’s game
teams cannot give back losses; they have to earn wins
flachimesa - August 24, 2008
Buccos better roll over for us...
…the way they’ve rolled over for the BrewCrew.
NotSure - August 24, 2008
Rivas swings at a first pitch
off the plate and grounds out to the pitcher
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Friggin' Pirates, can't even win when the game is handed to them
sanantonecub - August 24, 2008
you can count on the Suds scoring now...book it.
whenever a team doesn’t score when they have the bases loaded and no out, it always come back and bites you in the butt.
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
if the brew crew lose this...
they should kick themselves in the pills
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
Unbelievable...
even if they ARE the Bucs-how do they not score a run with the bases loaded-no uts!
cubswgnrocks - August 24, 2008
The Pirates...
…have 16 hits and the Crew 14 and both teams only have 3 runs – amazing.
MPH73 - August 24, 2008
Ugh.
That is awful.
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
Pathetic!
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
who's gonna hit the walkoff
place your bcb dollars now!!!
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
no one...
brew aint winning
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
I like that thought
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
I like that attitude!
cubswgnrocks - August 24, 2008
can i take
Ryan Roumit for the Pirates?
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
Doumit
sorry. i should stop drinking.
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
Or talking like the Jetsons Dog
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
Well. That wouldn't be a walk off
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
true.
but i can’t bet on the brewers to win.
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
1 away
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
wow, 1-3 GO on Counsell
tremendous play by the buccos
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
Little D for the Bucs...it ain't over yet!
NotSure - August 24, 2008
Never fear
former Indianapolis Indian Jason Davis in for the Buccos. They can’t lose now…
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
great play by Davis on squibbler
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
Never Underestimate the Destructive Power of Rickie Weeks
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
LOL..he's my vote for Cubs MVP.
NotSure - August 24, 2008
these Brewer annoucers are terrible
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Nothing new there....
NotSure - August 24, 2008
let's see how you would do after 8 beers!
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008

Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
This is what rooting for the Pirates feels like:
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008

BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008

i thought that’s what sleeping with a cardinal fan got you.
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008

Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
2 red x's?
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Geezus how do you walk weeks?
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
...or let him steal a base...
NotSure - August 24, 2008
Nice to know the Pirates

halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008

preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008

cubs ftw - August 24, 2008
Hardy walk off
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
Game
The Pirates suck for a reason.
At least they made their pen go deep into the game.
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
TERRIBLE
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
Cheers all
Cubs win. Don’t forget it.
See a tomorrow.
Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
welp
thats the plus of being in first…. AND they had to blow their ’pen on a 12 ining game. Karstens might have to just take one for the team tomorrow. Lets get him.
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
We SERIOUSLY owe him some payback!
NotSure - August 24, 2008
it should help
having a scouting report now
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
At least Brewers off tomorrow...can get another half game...
NotSure - August 24, 2008
yea...
they have to SCRAP that hard….just to keep pace…
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
damn Extra Innings doesnt play when the game is over
the cut RIGHT AWAY to the good night screen geez.
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
now. let's beat the crap out of these Bucs...starting tomorrow!
LAcarl519 - August 24, 2008
The Beers have the day off tomorrow
so a win tomorrow is important for our beloved Cubs
Galvan316 - August 24, 2008
winning cures all.
just need the cubs to do their part tomorrow.
Bill Potter - August 24, 2008
im out
GO CUBS
cubswgnrocks - August 24, 2008
Dear Pirates:
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - August 24, 2008
thats one of my all time favorite "fail" pics.
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
This might have to be my new "Brewers lose" macro:

preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
thast funny
preachermancubsfan - August 24, 2008
Just to continue that one:
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
LOL
Those fail pictures are priceless!
Great to see Harden be untouchable again. That acquisition is definitely paying dividends. DeRosa continues to be a machine, and good to see Kosuke have a good at-bat. Maybe this helps turn him around.
MrNFL - August 24, 2008
FAIL
Always makes me laugh

Gibbon Jockey - August 24, 2008
that's freakin' brilliant.
drewishdrewid - August 24, 2008
Well
that was fun. kind of a shame the pirates remembered that they were indeed the pirates… but at least we won.
halfblindcubbiegirl - August 24, 2008
Too bad the Brewers have an off day tomorrow
so the 12 inning game shouldn’t have much lasting effect.
ChipSet - August 24, 2008
F* The Brewers, F* A.J. Cheatzynski
They both won’t amount to much in the long run.
