How bout Howry

Although if he goes one more inning, he’s gonna give up at least 2 runs

wow,

but it is against the pirates, at this point though we’ll take any good outing from him

I just got home, and don't have the game on tv

but from the boxscore it looks like Kosuke may have found “it” again! Any analysis from those with CSN?

Hes been hittin the ball well to the other field, nice liners and grounders we saw earlier in the year
alright alright
Career high RBI night
Fukudome

he’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Ward is the only player to hit a ball into the Alleghenny

He it it in 2002 as a Pirate..

Only one to this day to land in the water over rt field wall.

great to see Edmonds, Lee, Fukudome, and Soriano have really great nights

and DeRosa and Ramirez helped too!

Woody's gonna throw the 9th left-handed

so we can see exactly how bad the Pirates really are

They are going to get good soon enough.

Watch

CUBS WIN!!!!!!!
CUBS WIN CUBS WIN CUBS WIN CUBS WIN CUBS WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN
Sing it!!! Play it!!!
Milton (Slight Return)...

17 hits...wow!!!!!
let's bring it again tomorrow!!
81-50 ... pretty amazing..
+31
greg maddux?
Let's go for a Jerome Williams, then a Daryle Ward, and then a Kerry Wood....
hell why don't we aim for the bob howry?
Sounds good to me!
that too!!

just cheering our margin over .500 (31 games)

Fukudome is the Chevy player of the game
Hopefully he will get that BA over .280 by the end of the year
does he have to drive one?
Perfect timing

Game ends just before parents’ time to visit my classroom…have one for me—night all

Woo-Hoo!!

Another one bites the dust!
who is likely

next?

3 teams tied

with 8 being the #

PGH, CIN, ATL

Gotta be Pirates or Reds...
Braves, Reds, Pirates

all 57-74 now.

I am going to love seeing this over the next month :)
Plesac

is wearing a Fukudome headband as a tie.

Plesac is a nub..

But he’s *our nub.

big blue train, baby!
FUKUDOME'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!
Twenty Seven

27 (twenty-seven) is the natural number following 26 and preceding 28. Twenty-seven is the Cubs magic number to clinch the division.

Dodgers lose 5-0 to Philly

Despite outhitting them 13-10. LA now under .500 for the year, and since getting Manny.

Thirteen hit shutout...

Impressive.

THAT is some serious fail!
Did someone say fail?

nice effort!

did Halliburton make these?

no idea

i just love “fail” macros. they make me laugh.

Because they're such a failure, right? Ha Ha
With three walks..

and a wild pitch. You really have to be trying not to score.

maybe

we’ll face the NL East Division champs, let Milwaukee and the DBacks eat each-other to pieces.

Right now, the Cubs would get the D-backs
Some are worried, I want PAYBACK!

STARE BACK!

That's a team I don't want to see

Arizona scares me the most out of anyone…. we suck against them.

nah. just their park

the way standings are now the series would start at Wrigley.

And we’ve beaten Haren.

Yeah, that sweep at home earlier in the year was a fluke...
how is it determined?
Dan Uggla gets to decide.
best record gets wildcard unless they're in same division

otherwise its the lowest record among playoff teams…

I think.

You'd better start rooting

for a DBack win streak then.. they entered tonight 3½ behind the Mets.

Lets let the entire league worry about playing the CUBS
+infinity....
Buster Olney on ESPN

keeps saying that Arizona is going to have more problems pitching to our line up than our pitchers will for theirs.

I think thats interesting to think about.

Agreed.

That team is full of strikeout machines. Harden, and to a lesses extent Z and Demp, would eat up Mark Reynolds, Chris Young, Adam Dunn, Stephen Drew and Chris Snyder are all going to strike out over 100 times, if they haven’t by now already. Young has 133, Reynolds 163 and Dunn 133. Harden might break Woody’s record if he gets a shot against them.

Ned Coletti has crapped the bed

and he made the bed

Oops, I crapped my pants!
thats alot of dung!
tonight's victory

felt VERY inevitable.

are you saying this because of the way the Pirates lost yesterday?
no

because of the way we won yesterday.

although the way they lost

definitely helped that feeling… plus when we knocked Karstens out in the 3rd.

I called it yesterday...PAYBACK for Karstens...

..I guess Lou got an updated scouting report.

I hate that poll!
poll was really stupid

bad karma.

hypothetical injuries? who thinks up this stuff? Someone’s kid as summer intern, no doubt.

and now he's got the hat on too
pleasac?
yeah

right before they cut out.

Hey lets talk about injuries!!
what are you going on about??
they had a stupid poll about who we could least afford to lose

to injury

oohh geez
And groundskeepers who call in sick!
Cub highlights on

BBTN

Alrighty, then....I'm out...

Sorry, folks, park’s closed…moose outside shoulda told ya!

Someone asked for this?

blank space?
Or this?

Photobucket

violated?

what are you trying to post??

there are others, you know

the rest of the group shouldn’t feel left out. :D

Thats not a new one
Shit....how about this?

Photobucket

I have no idea why this was kicked off of Photobucket...

I see more nudity on the soap operas for cryin out loud..

you watch soap operas?
Not really...

maybe a peek during a commercial of a Cubs game…:)

Finish the Campy book?
Being home last week I didnt do any reading

I have about 80 pages left. I’ve learned so much not just about catching but about what life was like for him. I cant imagine playing a whole season and then barnstorming. I do have a lot of questions as I’ve been reading it.

Here we go

Nice...

I have it bookmarked now.

I can't imagine what she'll do

If they win the World Series

I can

she’s gonna need her own site, tho.

ahhhh how do you post an image?
copy the link you want

and click the little green button and paste

huh, thats what I did.

Anyway…where did you watch the game tonight cubbiegirl?

i listened on gameday audio

and folded laundry. life is so exciting. :-P

Galvan wasnt here....

I thought maybe you two were watching it together :) LOL

whatever

lol

Nice. By the way, i.e. our conversation last night

How rested did DLee look tonight?

I mean sound tonight..
I dunno

i was listening… how did his swings look anyone?

sorry...they were much fresher, shorter strokes.
good to know!

BTW i am really sorry i was so snappy w/ you last night. the whole “dlee needs rest” thing DID have merit, but it was brought up everyday for a while and had driven me nuts.

I believe Galvan likes his laundry ironed btw...

:D

That was fun

I caught the game between dinner with the mother-in-law and looking at wedding photos. good to see Fukudome get going again, and Jed.

It’s nice to be playing the Indianapolis Ind…er, Pittsburgh Pirates, too. Win tomorrow with Z and sweep on Wednesday.

Headline on ChicagoSports.com ...

Cubs Win Sixth Straight, Pound Pirates

The text of the article had, at one point in time, the same as the headline, 6 in a row. The body has since been fixed to say 3 in a row.

Oops.

it happens

in their series preview earlier, they had Marmol down for 17 straight scoreless appearances.

who knew the nationals would win a game?

Is it just me..

or is the MSM gettting more sloppy all the time lately.

Starting pitching

The Cubs have a chance to have three starters (Lilly, Zambrano and Dempster) win 15 games and have ERAs under 4 (a bit of a stretch for Lilly but not impossible if he continues to pitch well his last six outings of the year). When is the last time the Cubs (or any team, for that matter) could post three starters with 15 wins and under 4 ERAs? A subject for research.

I'll answer my own question

Last Cub team to have three starters with 15 wins or more and under 4 ERAs, was, fittingly, the 1989 division winning squad. Maddux had 19 wins, Bielecki had 18 and Sutcliffe had 16. The worst ERA of the three was Sutcliffe’s at 3.66. Maddux was at a sparkling 2.95.

Probably some other team did it between then and now, but I don’t have time to look.

Those 90's Atlanta teams

Wow, here’s one for you. The ’93 one was impressive, and I think ’96 too.

1998 Braves Starting Five (apologies for the formatting)

                                           ERA W L

SP Greg Maddux 2.22 18 9
SP *Tom Glavine 2.47 20 6
SP *Denny Neagle 3.55 16 11
SP Kevin Millwood 4.08 17 8
SP John Smoltz 2.90 17 3

Thanks

for doing that research. I should have thought of the 90’s Braves rotation. That 1998 starting five has to rank among the finest in history. Too bad Milwood couldn’t get his ERA down a little to keep it under four -then it would be one for the records!

Why not Marshall......

AFAIC……Cotts can go w/ Eyre and Howry to wherever they go…..
