hopefully the cubs offense will show up for a change
We’ve scored only 5 runs in 20 innings this series against their starters. Can’t except ace performances from SP every game. Even Pinella has admitted the offense is out of sync lately.
If Moyer gets that call pack it in. Terrible series for umpires, and that goes for both sides who have equal right to compain. Of course the Cubs historically are terrible against pitchers with good changeups. They NEVER learn.

I think I’m breaking some sort of rule, tho. A “Believe” bracelet, a “It’s Gonna Happen.com” bracelet, my cubs hat, my Dome jersey, my BCB shirt and Cubs sleep-pants I got yesterday too.
Did they say anything about when Marshall found out he would start?
It seems like he just wasn’t ready to pitch today. His location is bad, he is making bad decisions on defense. He gets credit for the hit, but overall it seems as if he is lacking focus.
haven’t scored more than 2 runs against any of their SP. Our pitching has been more than good enough against a potent Phils offense and I commend their effort.
Let's take this series!!!!

Let’s do this!

Sabathia's pitching
Yeah, good luck with that, Bucs
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
He's due to be lit up..
Maybe not today though.
Bump Bailey - August 31, 2008
could be just like last weekend
wait him out, get to the bullpen, then score. of course, the bucs would need to win in extras this time…
Bill Potter - August 31, 2008
Something's wrong...
I’m here in a game thread on time…
DeRoMyHero - August 31, 2008
Shit. There goes the party

DeRoMyHero - August 31, 2008
There ya go--the first K is the toughest
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
shoot.
sue369 - August 31, 2008
gah
it’s like they have a script that gets followed every game!
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
well it worked the first two games
when the cubs went ahead first, they would up losing
Bill Potter - August 31, 2008
unfortunately
it now looks like yesterday’s script, not the day before
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
yeah, it's starting to look very 'cottsian'
if i do say so myself
Bill Potter - August 31, 2008
Well, looks like another
come-from-behind win today
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
Well, thanks for coming out folks
That’s the ballgame!
sanantonecub - August 31, 2008
these top 5-6 hitters on Philly are very tough. no easy outs.
I’ll still take our full line-up day in and day out, however.
LAcarl519 - August 31, 2008
geez!
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
shit...
Bump Bailey - August 31, 2008
Is Z unavailable? :-)
Sean doesn’t seem to have it so far.
ChipSet - August 31, 2008
oh boy
sue369 - August 31, 2008
CC walks the first batter of the inning...
sanantonecub - August 31, 2008
Good grief.....
sparky39762 - August 31, 2008
The first three games of this series
The team that scored first lost
Shanghai Badger - August 31, 2008
Hopefully this
is Sean’s worst inning. He’ll settle down and the Cubs will get those runs back.
sue369 - August 31, 2008

Moyer
Light ’im up!
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008

I think we’ll get some runs against him….he’s crafty, but hittable too.
Bump Bailey - August 31, 2008
Nate McLouth lines into a double play in Pittsburgh
Sabathia caught the ball bare handed and threw to first.
Sheesh.
Shanghai Badger - August 31, 2008
Innign over...
sanantonecub - August 31, 2008
Wonder why
Gaudin didn’t start—one of the reasons we got him was for the occasional spot-start, right?
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
arm strength might not be built up to it at this point
Bill Potter - August 31, 2008
I think Marshall will be good enough
Again, the offense needs to show up for a change.
BeltwayCubsFan - August 31, 2008
Man...
… if this were a video game, I would have restarted it
Ross - August 31, 2008

drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
Sean Marshall
Doesn`t he realize by now that Ball 1 is his worst enemy?
muffman - August 31, 2008
Moyer's no-no and perfecto
Dust
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
Still early.
Let’s start chipping away
LAcarl519 - August 31, 2008
Hmmm.....
Too bad DeRo’s not good enough to bat #2 in this lineup.
DeRoMyHero - August 31, 2008
jeebus--doesn't a strike on the outside corner
actually have to cross the outside corner?
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
I thought Moyer was pitching today
But apparently the home plate umpire thinks it’s Tom Glavine and 1993
Shanghai Badger - August 31, 2008
Useless stat of the day...
DLee: 536 AB, 18 HR, 77 RBI
DeRo: 437 AB, 18 HR, 79 RBI
DeRoMyHero - August 31, 2008
wow...
… this has the makings of a long day….
Ross - August 31, 2008
Ump is garbage
If Moyer gets that call pack it in. Terrible series for umpires, and that goes for both sides who have equal right to compain. Of course the Cubs historically are terrible against pitchers with good changeups. They NEVER learn.
BeltwayCubsFan - August 31, 2008
Honesty compels me to admit that Sean Marshall
looks like he’s asleep right now.

sue369 - August 31, 2008

You were just wow.
sanantonecub - August 31, 2008
It was timing out for me until just now
Clutch16 - August 31, 2008
locked up on me
for ten minutes.
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
I was getting no response for a little while
but am back in now (obviously)
ChipSet - August 31, 2008
you sure?
check again.
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
Yeah, I froze in the middle of posting a comment.
It seemed very quiet, so either everyone was locked out, or I just wasn’t seeing everyone’s nuggets of gold.
DeRoMyHero - August 31, 2008
HEY!
I just got a Dome jersey for my birthday… and the guy drops the ball when I put it on! Go Cubs!
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
Synchronicity, baby,
Buy me one from Wrigleyville, and I am CERTAIN Reed will homer!

cubnational - August 31, 2008
Right back in it!
Sean with the sneaky hit!
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
Still 1-0 in Pittsburgh
Pirates break up the no-hitter with an infield single that Sabathia can’t handle. Brewers announcers whine about it being a hit for several minutes.
Shanghai Badger - August 31, 2008
Full count .. runners on the corners
cubnational - August 31, 2008
Got tossed and just got back
in time for Marshall to help his own cause! Woo hoo!
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
Failing to turn a double play tends to come back to haunt you.
This rally is the direct result of the Phillies failure to turn the DP.
cowsarecool220 - August 31, 2008
3-2 Phils .. Cubs come back even though Reed flies out
drew .. buy me that jersey .. QUICK!
cubnational - August 31, 2008
sorry
when I brought it up to the wife, she looked at me as if I were insane…er than usual.
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008

Furthermore, I will never watch one single episode of that show advertised by the annoying laughter .. that’s TV I WILL ignore.
cubnational - August 31, 2008
and why Woody Woodpecker, for goodness sake?
Pepsi Co, for crying out loud .. must have had a billion of them left over from Expo 67
cubnational - August 31, 2008
Marshall
just needs to get outs. Put the ball in play, trust your defense.
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
Wouldn't hurt
if he played some defense, too
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
good night .. the bases are clogged
Come on, Marsh .. get these bums
cubnational - August 31, 2008
did they eliminate second base?
I see two runners.
Shanghai Badger - August 31, 2008
don't worry, that may happen shortly
cubnational - August 31, 2008
Eliminating second base,
would make for some interesting base running!
cowsarecool220 - August 31, 2008
wait til the run down and steal comes down
cubnational - August 31, 2008
Honesty compels me to admit that
Marshall is a terrible fielder.
DeRoMyHero - August 31, 2008
NOW that's what I call "redemption"
cubnational - August 31, 2008
from what?
That grounder was as routine as they come. If he gets his ass off the mound, it’s two out and a runner on third.
Shanghai Badger - August 31, 2008
Yep. It's the dictionary definition of the word.
zevkalman - August 31, 2008
Did they say anything about when Marshall found out he would start?

cubnational - August 31, 2008
I'll send you an MP3, if you are interested...
give me an e-mail address and I will send it to you.
Ross - August 31, 2008
Marshall almost threw that away
ChicagoRalph - August 31, 2008
and Dome keeps the bases clogged!
cubnational - August 31, 2008
NICE THROW
Dome!
drewishdrewid - August 31, 2008
I love watching the right fielder for the Chicago National League Ballclub.
zevkalman - August 31, 2008
Wow, Dome found the plate!
spoiledcubbage - August 31, 2008
let's go Marsh .. let's go baby
