the only thing that has dampered an otherwise perfect day was going to a the friendly confines bar near my house in orlando to celebrate with other cubs fans and having the game be blacked out by those damn fox magicians….thank god i have mlb audio at my house
This has been a great season and I’m so glad that i found this site and have been able to enjoy this season with everyone! The best is still yet to come!!!
the final out on fox? He enjoyed his short stint as a Cub announcer. I’m sure he was excited to make the call. ( Disclaimer: I would have like to hear Len and Bob but that was not an option today…)
they let us revel with the team without anybody talking over the moment and they let the moment last a good long time. I hate Fox but give them credit this one time. Also, that shot of Ron Santo just before the last out… priceless
IMO. Brewers were only one game back and the Cubs had been scuffling a bit but they went up north and blew ’em out 4 straight. Aside from an early September hiccup the Cubs have been rolling ever since.
Thank the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jesus Christ, if the Cubs beat them more thoroughly this season, I’m pretty sure the authorities would have had to been called for assault.
Congratulations, fellow Cubs fans. We deserve to party tonight.
But remember, we still have 11 games to win.
Nice to win it ourselves at our ballpark and not to depend on anyone else. Let’s get our rotation in order now and play well in the postseason. The magic number now is +11.
Finally, congratulations to the players, manager, coaches, team personnel and especially to Jim Hendry for assembling a winning team.
for creating such a great site for us Cubs fans to share our passion for our team. It’s been great having BCB to check in with fellow Die Hard fans. Y’all are all right by me.
We’ve had a tree crew in the ’hood the last two days, so the utility line crew should be right behind them. Should only be a few more days. My shoes are gonna smell like gasoline for a while…
You wouldn't believe how much I've heard of the crap.
They all started out saying “Not to take anything away from Zambrano”, and then launched into myriad excuses. What a joke. BTW, was Z’s no-no gonna be shown again. I had the TiVo set for Friday night, but the generator ran out of gas. :(
the first time I went to Wrigley but it was an Amazing experience. Walked right past Ernie when i walked in. We we way out of the playoffs but it was still amazing
They should look at Scott Kazmir. He’s about to clinch a playoff berth for the Rays in a few minutes while his parents’ home lies destroyed in Houston. But Kazmir is not whining. He’s playing to win.
“It’s been a lot of fun…it wasn’t as easy as it looked…you gotta relax and you gotta be able to play…Atlanta won 14 divisions in a row but only won one World Series…we’ll have them ready…the chickens have hatched right now”.
I remember getting completely infatuated with this team in ’94, when I was 7 years old and they sucked so much ass. And I came onto this site in ’06. I think I posted much in that year than I ever had.
Shit, if anything— besides the always-apparent influx of Cubs “fans” that will come with their success— Cubs fans have seen mediocrity for decades, and have still stayed.
Look at the other brewcrew site; how many people are posting there? Suddenly the Brewers caps and shirts will fade on campus, as well as their hopes of making the postseason. And they call us “bandwagon” fans?
Have a good October and making Sabathia pitch himself to an injury, you pricks.
post game coverage. Saw a really nice shot of Kerry, Sarah and their two children out on the field. Saw Derrek with his wife and little girl on the field too. Can’t wait for their news at 10 pm.
I missed the vast majority of the game, but I’m so glad it’s white flag time! I’m anxious to see what’s in store for the weeks ahead. Let’s keep it up!
First?

But I’m not as excited this year as I was last year. And for only one reason.
Because our goals are a lot higher this year.
Again, this is a wonderful accomplishment. But let’s not shoot our wad, so to speak, about winning the division.
The Cubs have three more titles to win before we really can let loose. Let’s do it.

sanantonecub - September 20, 2008
That was such a great series.
slcathena - September 20, 2008
My favorite of the year
Everybody thought this would be a showdown, and all the national folks pretty much thought the Brewers were going to take the series
And we blew them out of the water
cocknfire - September 20, 2008
Brewers?
Thank the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jesus Christ, if the Cubs beat them more thoroughly this season, I’m pretty sure the authorities would have had to been called for assault.

…and have 3 more. We can beat up on the Mets and help the Brewers…anybody in?

Watching celebration now.
Congratulations, fellow Cubs fans. We deserve to party tonight.
But remember, we still have 11 games to win.
Nice to win it ourselves at our ballpark and not to depend on anyone else. Let’s get our rotation in order now and play well in the postseason. The magic number now is +11.
Finally, congratulations to the players, manager, coaches, team personnel and especially to Jim Hendry for assembling a winning team.

not many fellow cubs fans in southern Utah
BradB311 - September 20, 2008
Not too many here in Houston, either.
And we’re still digging out from the storm. But having a generator, satellite dish and BCB makes not being in Chicago to celebrate too unbearable.
dedfishflote - September 20, 2008
Hopefully, watching the Cubs will be a nice distraction
during the clean-up effort.
Hope you get your power back soon.

They should look at Scott Kazmir. He’s about to clinch a playoff berth for the Rays in a few minutes while his parents’ home lies destroyed in Houston. But Kazmir is not whining. He’s playing to win.

People call Cubs fans bandwagon fans

MOCubsfan - September 20, 2008
I must admit, I feel a bit for the Brewers
Their collapse is rivaling the Mets’ collapse last season. I figured the Crew was a lead-pipe cinch to win the WC.
It would have been nice to see someone different in the postseason … but they had all the advantages and squandered them.
Not Bruce Froemming - September 20, 2008
