I got to admit having a Geo pic to look fwd to in the game thread
is a blast. I sent a reply email to the guy who sent me the Geo pics thanking him for them and told him that there were a variety of gals who got to enjoy them. :)
The first day at my new job we did an icebreaker of two truths and a lie for one of my classes. And one of my truths was that I was a baseball buff. The guys in my class all thought that was the lie. I pointed to the Cubs gnome in the corner and was like, absolute baseball nut…so they decided to quiz me with the following:
“Who pitches the 7th for the Cubs”
ha ha ha. When I told them it varies, but I’m pretty happy if it’s Shark or Gaudin one of them said I was wrong and said it was Carlos, which I promptly corrected, and then mentioned I was pretty cool as long as it wasn’t Howry.
12 teenage boys jaws dropped and they were like immediately impressed. I literally won them over in like 10 minutes. It was hilarious and awesome.
a non baseball buddy of mine has a friend who invited him to crash at his apartment
if he just wants to come down. so he emailed me asking me if I’d maybe want to. I called him up and was like dude.. that would so rock. so I might have a chance to.
but I got a bunch of military friends and most of them have pages so I can keep up with them and their families. But my page is closed so random people cant see it.
the only reason I have a myspace is that reason. I’ve never gotton into facebook. But I know that is what both of my younger sisters have and t facebook they tease me how loserish myspace is LOL
My buddies and I are all about the same age, and we all remember Jerry. We also remember our little league coaches getting ticked off when we’d try the basket catch, too.
The way things went down last season, as someone who grew up with the Cream and Crimson under Bobby Knight, was pathetic. The whole Sampson Era was a debacle.
I’m on board with the things Crean is doing, and I think Painter is a heckuva coach, and with the two of them in the state, the games should be fun for the next decade or so.
Football is a crazy yelling and clawing sport where you scream for your team and scream against others… whether you like it or not… its true.. so for all those pakers fans.. they probably just dont like Chicago. I hate the city of NY and LA… why? Cause I like Chicago more, can I please be allowed to not like another team.. all this fake dont hate on other team garbage is annoying me… now I wont be stupid and jelous and say stupid shit just to piss people off but if it is all in good competition.. like the cubs and brewers this year, its all in fun for me… now when someone crosses the fun line, thats where it gets ridiculous… I HAVE NO IDEA what I just typed.. i kind of ranted
who has lived in Milwaukee for many years has heard this time and time again. (He’s a Chicago native) Sometimes, it’s in jest…..however…much of the time…it is not.

Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
That is the best tradition EVER.
slcathena - September 23, 2008
I have lots of friends who are into baseball
but it’s so sad, every guy I have dated for the last 6 years has not liked sports. :( It’s devestating.
slcathena - September 23, 2008
yeah
liking sports (football & baseball) are prereq’s for dating me.
otherwise it just won’t work at all.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
It was really funny (you'll all appreciate this)
The first day at my new job we did an icebreaker of two truths and a lie for one of my classes. And one of my truths was that I was a baseball buff. The guys in my class all thought that was the lie. I pointed to the Cubs gnome in the corner and was like, absolute baseball nut…so they decided to quiz me with the following:

slcathena - September 23, 2008

Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
I'm trying to plan it!
My new job makes it sort of hard, but I will do what I can. :)
slcathena - September 23, 2008
a non baseball buddy of mine has a friend who invited him to crash at his apartment
if he just wants to come down. so he emailed me asking me if I’d maybe want to. I called him up and was like dude.. that would so rock. so I might have a chance to.
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
Yeah, I have a work friend who is letting me crash there
It’s just a matter of getting the time off. ;)
slcathena - September 23, 2008
My brother lives 1 1/2 miles west on Addison

Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008

Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008

carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008
Perhaps the time tested phrase
That’s what she said can be replaced by that’s what he said. :D
slcathena - September 23, 2008
you girls are in charge....

carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008

DeRoMyHero - September 23, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008

cubsfaninatl - September 23, 2008
He needs the at bats.

halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008

Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
Easily 5 runs, if not more...
Mets will be lucky to get four runs vs. the Cubs tonight.
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
Under.
4 sounds right, 5 or 6 innings.
zm1217 - September 23, 2008

Chanman25 - September 23, 2008
That sounds fair.
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
Can we convert that to Ecksteins?
zm1217 - September 23, 2008
1 English Lady=.26 Ecksteins?
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
so I get aproxmately .13 Ecksteins
sweet
Chanman25 - September 23, 2008
+ .54 Ecksteins.
zm1217 - September 23, 2008
I looked it up
1 English Lady=.42 Ecksteins
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
Ah crap.
So you get .84 Ecksteins. And an additional English Lady for looking it up.
zm1217 - September 23, 2008
40 Schrute bucks

carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008
Reed Johnson channeling Jerry Morales with the basket catch...
2 down
carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008
That's exactly what we were saying
My buddies and I are all about the same age, and we all remember Jerry. We also remember our little league coaches getting ticked off when we’d try the basket catch, too.
Not Bruce Froemming - September 23, 2008
I do believe that Sean Marshall is demonstrating tonight
that he is not as good as Jason.
If Jason makes the playoff roster as the long man (/PH/PR), does Sean get left off?
DeRoMyHero - September 23, 2008
no, 2nd LHRP
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
nope, he goes in as a longman I'd say
if anyone, HOWRY SHOULDN"T COME CLOSE TO MAKING THE PLAYOFF ROSTER
Chanman25 - September 23, 2008
Three men in the Mets booth
…three too many. You just wish somebody would shut up for just a second or two.
San Diego Smooth Jazz Man - September 23, 2008
+ A lot.
slcathena - September 23, 2008
Boo-yah!!!
No runs for the Mets in the bottom of the first. Good job with the Marshall plan…

Clutch16 - September 23, 2008
I cannot stand the NBA anymore.
College hoops are fun, though.

Ah, BU
they’ll be fine in America East, I assume. Probably top 2 or 3.
As for the hockey team, well, I have no idea. They’ll probably peak around the Beanpot.
I know BC is #1.
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008

Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
I prefer "Pur-who"
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
I like that.
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
Seriously, though...
(because I don’t want to do the old Purdue/IU debate), last season had to be pretty embarrassing the way it all came down right before the tourney…
(Purdon’t is lame)
carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008
Totally agree
The way things went down last season, as someone who grew up with the Cream and Crimson under Bobby Knight, was pathetic. The whole Sampson Era was a debacle.
I’m on board with the things Crean is doing, and I think Painter is a heckuva coach, and with the two of them in the state, the games should be fun for the next decade or so.
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
Can't go wrong with Duke

slcathena - September 23, 2008
Fukudome with an RBI 2B!
zm1217 - September 23, 2008
nice swing
MOCubsfan - September 23, 2008
Dome!
Cubs lead 1-0
Bump Bailey - September 23, 2008
he's back! he's back!
Emelie - September 23, 2008
If he's back.
And D-Lee is hitting.
I pity the fool team that plays us in October.
slcathena - September 23, 2008
so much for Dome struggling against Johan
1—0
carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008
YAY for back to back doubles
Rally time!!!
Who was it that was doubting the Dome?
slcathena - September 23, 2008
Not doubting him
but… i was surprised to see him in there against a tough lefty like Johan after sitting against Niese last night.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
I don't think it was you. ;)
But really, I meant that in a happy way. I’m glad he’s hitting again.
slcathena - September 23, 2008
me too
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Me =\
But I’m happy to be proved wrong
cubsfaninatl - September 23, 2008
:)
no worries. I meant it much cheerier than it sounded…I realized after I posted that it sounded sort of snarky. Sorry about that.
slcathena - September 23, 2008
I didn't see it as snarky
all’s good
cubsfaninatl - September 23, 2008
this team is clicking all cylinders and they arent even playing their norms
lexmarklover - September 23, 2008
Fuku
looks a lot better without the bailout step deal.
ballstitch - September 23, 2008
I just saw the video on gameday
and his step toward the pitcher instead of toward first base will be the key I think.
tucsoncubsfan - September 23, 2008
finally
Emelie - September 23, 2008
Dome just pulled a line shot off Santana....think about that for one second.
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
I guess I was wrong
Good job Dome
cubsfaninatl - September 23, 2008
Nice to see Kosuke hang in there against a tough LHP
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
yea boy!
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
Any Brewers fans in here following our thread and pulling for the Cubbies today?!
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
I think it's just the usual suspects
Clutch16 - September 23, 2008
their game starts in 30, so maybe
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
not in here but I know a friend who is listening to part of the game tonight
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
all that hate on EBCB has probably been turned into love for their neighbors
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
no
they have pretty mixed feelings about cheering for the Cubs. I was lurking in their open thread last night.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
I was amazed at how much hate there is there
Hell, they chastised one of their own and deleted his post — for posting mine about not being jackasses to other fans.
Classy.
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
my friend said he felt a bit dirty cheering for the cubs but was going to the next few days
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
It's gonna take weeks to wash that off
Clutch16 - September 23, 2008
I don't get it
It’s not an old-time rivalry. I think they’re most upset by the fact that by and large, we consider them irrelevant.
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
well I think its an extention of the hating the Bears......
from what I understand
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
I can see that
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
doens't make any sense to me
i mean sure, dislike your rival. I hate to have to cheer for the Mets, but theres no reason to be a jackass about it.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
I hate to say it, being from WI
but WI sports fans can be like that. Badgers fans can be the worst . . . embarassing sometimes, really
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
yea but...
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
yes you can not like another team
but you SHOULD be able to balance “not liking” a team with the ability to not be a jackass. And thats something BOTH sides need to keep in mind.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
+1
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
football is a totally different animal than baseball
baseball is something that is everyday thing for months. where as football there are only so many football games. I love both, but differently.
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
never got into football... all those time outs
Emelie - September 23, 2008
i love football
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
better than baseball?
Emelie - September 23, 2008
yes
my first sports memory is of dancing in my grandad’s office at the age of 2 to the SuperBowl Shuffle.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
aww love you and your granddad
Emelie - September 23, 2008
i miss him something awful
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
You can remeber from the age of two?
That’s pretty good. I can only go back to an event when I was four.
tucsoncubsfan - September 23, 2008
Remember is a bit strong
but its the stuff of family legend.
Me in my older brother’s Payton jersey dancing and “singing” in grandad’s office.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
will you marry me?
You would make a great wife/GF… seriously, I seen you in WCG and BCB and you know what your talking about.. .thats hot!
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
lol
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
The boys just won't leave you alone...
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008

Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008

santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008

Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
Right...
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
what the hell does that even mean?
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
Galvin would like a word with you.
Bump Bailey - September 23, 2008
Where is that young man?
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
keepin my fingers crossed
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
grew up near green bay
season tix on birth dads side of the family since 1959
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
I love that Greenbay owns the team
and their fans are great.
mlern - September 23, 2008
I was referring to the comment above about the people from WI
hating on the Cubs most likely because they hate the Bears.. and it is kind of an overflow
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
lame
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
not you, the reason
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
I think it's some kind of Milwaukee inferiority complex.
zevkalman - September 23, 2008
I concur
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
Wisconsin (not the people who make money from tourism)
residents hate those from Illinois — again, the monicker used by the cheeseheads about those from the Land of Lincoln —
FIBS.
F is what you think it is, add “ing”
I…you know…
BS…Bas****s
They have a massive inferiority complex, towards Chicago, and Illinois just as San Diego has towards L-A.
San Diego Smooth Jazz Man - September 23, 2008
That's painting with a pretty broad brush
I don’t hate Illinois and I know plenty of other WI natives that don’t/
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
My best friend
who has lived in Milwaukee for many years has heard this time and time again. (He’s a Chicago native) Sometimes, it’s in jest…..however…much of the time…it is not.
San Diego Smooth Jazz Man - September 23, 2008
ty :)
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
for not calling you lame? you're welcome
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
It's funny, too
None of the Packer fans I hang out with down here despise the Bears nearly as much as the Vikings.
Clutch16 - September 23, 2008
true bears are second for everyone in my family
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
Vikings are 1st and Cowboys are 3rd
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
The Packer fan I know detests the Bears
and couldnt care less about the Vikes. For him it is
1. Bears
2. Cowboys
3. Bears
4. Bears
5. Bears
californiachicagoan - September 23, 2008
Dome has been playing coy these last 3 months...
just to set up the wrong scouting reports for rest of the teams for the playoffs.
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
That tricky guy.
He’ll hit .400 in the playoffs.
zm1217 - September 23, 2008
i could live w/ that
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Well I have to take off.
Bring another Cubbies victory for me! The march to 100 wins and the division series!
zm1217 - September 23, 2008
what? you have to take off what? Is this a strip game thread? Ohhhh...
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
To the Great White North?
Sorry.
chilango2 - September 23, 2008
Hoser
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
eh?
MOCubsfan - September 23, 2008
Anybody know
if the Cubs pitchers are still leading MLB in K’s?
MOCubsfan - September 23, 2008
They are
entering tonight: Cubs 1215 ks, SF 1186
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
affirmative.
They lead the MAJORS with 1215 K’s.
CubFaninNY - September 23, 2008
Thanks!
MOCubsfan - September 23, 2008
Santana's pitch count anyone?
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
39
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Dome and DLee getting doubles off Johan
Would be nice if they keep that going in the playoffs.
nji232 - September 23, 2008
This Cubs team is going to peak at exactly the right time.
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
It sure seems like it
scary thought.
nji232 - September 23, 2008
Scary for the opposition...
Beautiful to us that love the Cubs!
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
Now if Big Z can just keep his arm angle where it should be
nji232 - September 23, 2008
Z as our 3rd starter
how scary is that rotation?
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Scary for reals...
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
I really like Lee's approach lately
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
I think the rest has really helped him
nji232 - September 23, 2008
Definitely, he's getting some lift on the ball now...
that’s the D. Lee we all love…
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
BB with the foul ball catch...
and gives it to a kid. Nice.
carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008
gotta love Brenly!
well done, sir. give it to a kid!
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Good Hands Bob!
MOCubsfan - September 23, 2008

santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
Thanks bro...
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
Foul out to Blanco, inning over....
Let’s get some more runs!!!
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
Marshall looks "looser" on the mound tonight...
maybe knowing there’s no pressure on him is helping…or course…it could just be that he’s facing the Mets.
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
He also looks like a giant when up to bat
Totally dwarfed the catcher and ump, I know he’s tall but looked much taller than normal.
McCarron - September 23, 2008
6'7"
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Why are the Mets playing a rookie named Nick Evans?
…aren’t they in a playoff race…
zevkalman - September 23, 2008
Tatis is out for the season
as is Alou. That’s what they have.
CubFaninNY - September 23, 2008
They could have traded for Murton.
santoswoodenlegs - September 23, 2008
How would that be an improvement?
CubFaninNY - September 23, 2008
Check out his stats
Evans and Murphy have done a nice job
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
Murphy's a good bat.
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
He has a pulse. None of their other LFs do.
He’s actually had a decent year as a fill-in.
DeRoMyHero - September 23, 2008
RC with another double for the Cubs!!!!
I like it a lot!!
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
oooh 4 doubles... I like!
Emelie - September 23, 2008
The doubles continue
CedeƱo with the fourth of the night.
chilango2 - September 23, 2008

Emelie - September 23, 2008
Glad to see him back
McCarron - September 23, 2008
Not this?
Clutch16 - September 23, 2008
Well Played Sir!
McCarron - September 23, 2008
Soriano going into one of his little funks right now
Thats a good thing IMO. Let him suck all this week. That way his hot streak starts in the playoffs.
nji232 - September 23, 2008
ha... Pat Hughes just got excited when the ball jumped off DLees bat
but his voice slowed down when he found out it was an out.. that was funny
SouthsideCUBSfan - September 23, 2008
A long single for RJ, another Cubs run!!!
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008

LOL
carmen_fanzone - September 23, 2008

Emelie - September 23, 2008

I mean how much stamina can a 5h grader really have? If you had been in high school, you wouldnt have had a days peace all year
californiachicagoan - September 23, 2008

2 out Bingo once again!
Cub's Paperboy - September 23, 2008
I think Lincecum has this wrapped up...but food for thought
If Johan can’t win this game, I would think it tanks his Cy Young chances. Thoughts?
slcathena - September 23, 2008
Webb's got a shot -- 22 wins
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
Wins are for losers.
Wait … what?
californiachicagoan - September 23, 2008
I don't disagree
But writers haven’t figured that out
Shanghai Badger - September 23, 2008
If it's not Lincecum, something is utterly wrong with the voters
Never mind Santana’s performance tonight
Clutch16 - September 23, 2008
+1
californiachicagoan - September 23, 2008
no kidding
lincecum has been unbelievably awesome.
webb’s been streaky and he only leads in wins.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
I wouldn't give it to either
but Santana has fewer chances than even Dempster, I thinks.
chilango2 - September 23, 2008
Oh yeah, I think Lincecum has it wrapped up to.
If Santana had a chance, a loss tonight would definitely end it.
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
I would agree w/ Johan not winning it.
but I don’t think he’d win it even if he had an awesome game tonight
Madison Cub Fan - September 23, 2008
Lincecum is a stud...he's got it in the bag
spoiledcubbage - September 23, 2008

He’s pretty good, whoever he is
spoiledcubbage - September 23, 2008
Pitching is king
Hammer - September 23, 2008
Sean is pretty good
he’s been in the “deserved better” category all season.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 23, 2008
Mets fans are crap...
They boo for everything, and have a bigger inferiority complex than the White Sox when it comes to cross town rivals, the Yankees..
Jimmyeatworld - September 23, 2008
Cue Van Halen
and Jump!
Bill Potter - September 23, 2008
Damn Sean Marshall
Pretty good first three innings. Its awesome that we have a guy like him to just plug into the rotation for a spot start when needed.
nji232 - September 23, 2008
Anyone else remember his first game against the Cardinals?
I remember thinking how awesome it was that he was so tall and a lefty.
