If you’re trying to find an all-stick, no-field guy and you end up with Casey McGehee, you’re doing it wrong. They probably wanted an extra infielder to give Ramirez a break.
he ain’t great….agreed. ;) but he hasn’t made my eyes roll back in my head yet….and that’s happened more than once in the years I’ve been watching the Cubs.
In fact my wife, a social worker, went on a house call a few days ago and the patient’s family walked her over to the location. Only two of the palm trees are left.
You can worry all you want and just say its in your nature. I think Soto will be ok for the playoffs. Derosa has 4 days to relax.
Besides, we have what is probably the deepest team in baseball, so we’re in quite good shape. Our B team has already beaten both the mets and the brewers.

CaliCub - September 27, 2008
so, can we all agree
that Cedeno is brain dead when it comes to fielding talent?
LAcarl519 - September 27, 2008
He's not the best SS the Cubs have ever had
Weeghman Park - September 27, 2008
either that, or he's trying WAY too hard
CaliCub - September 27, 2008
I believe Johnson could have got to that ball
but Cedeno called him off it. If you are going to cal it (running away from the infield) CATCH IT!
You have to give way to the outfielder as he has the play to the plate on that.
LAcarl519 - September 27, 2008
I'm with you on that
Also his baserunning is suspect

cubsonWGN4ever - September 27, 2008
I agree.
I want him in the bullpen for the playoffs. Use chains if necessary to keep him there.
cwyers - September 27, 2008
You'll have to let him out to PR if Pie doesn't make the roster.
DeRoMyHero - September 27, 2008
I think it will work, let him get used to it
not an easy transition
LAcarl519 - September 27, 2008

OK, so long as Woody doesn't hit the first batter we should be golden
If he does hit him, I hope it hurts
Weeghman Park - September 27, 2008
McGehee is not doing a very good job of convincing me that he is a ML hitter.
His glove has been good…
DeRoMyHero - September 27, 2008
I saw him out here against the LV 51's
He was actually a pretty good hitter (at AAA mind you)
VegasCubFan - September 27, 2008
of course the 51's pitching staff stunk (like Hart)
VegasCubFan - September 27, 2008
McGehee was a below-average hitter in AAA.
I don’t see any reason that he should look any better in the majors.
cwyers - September 27, 2008

DeRoMyHero - September 27, 2008
Casey McGehee is the WORST BASEBALL PLAYER EVER.

CaliCub - September 27, 2008
Thank you. My eyes are not deceiving me.
Why, then, did he get called up???? Was there no other Iowa Cub with a pulse?
DeRoMyHero - September 27, 2008
If I knew the answer to that question...
cwyers - September 27, 2008
I am astonished, though, that you think McGehee is worse than Neifi.
Would you rather have Jason batting than McGehee? Perhaps even put Jason at SS?
DeRoMyHero - September 27, 2008
Neifi was a plus defensive shortstop.
That doesn’t excuse the total package, but it at least mitigates it. McGehee can’t even play short, and I don’t think he’s a better hitter.
cwyers - September 27, 2008
Point taken.
I guess my standard for glove so good I don’t care about his bat is John McDonald.
DeRoMyHero - September 27, 2008
apparently, Jake Fox never answered his phone in Tennessee
Bill Potter - September 27, 2008
Fox is Hoffpauir Light.
If you’re trying to find an all-stick, no-field guy and you end up with Casey McGehee, you’re doing it wrong. They probably wanted an extra infielder to give Ramirez a break.
cwyers - September 27, 2008

Bill Potter - September 27, 2008
