Comcast SportsNet is finally captioned!!! I’m hearing impaired and since CSN is a relatively new station, they had not yet captioned it – so I generally preferred WGN…hence my screen name. But today I turned the game on and lo and behold…CAPTIONS! I can now “listen” to Bob and Len. This may seem small to most of you, but it’s huge for me. May more good things follow! Like WINS.
I actually spoke to someone at the CSN home office at the beginning of this season and they mentioned that they were in the process of finding sponsors for their captioning apparatus – Dodge sponsors WGN captions, for example – and I guess they must have found one. Not sure who it is yet.
Can’t get the game on TV here in mid-Michigan but we are just close enough to get WGN-AM on the radio in my van. Sooo, I have the van parked in the garage, Pat & Ron’s voices booming out of the open windows while the connecting door is open to the house where I sit in the kitchen at my computer.
Couldn’t stomache listening to Cincy’s Marty B. on XM again…
I always wondered how broadcasters can stand broadcasting for a terrible team. I know it’s a nice life and all, but it’s gotta be horrible to watch bad baseball everyday.

parse out the meaning… after a fashion :D
Emelie - September 6, 2008
Aw, I'm happy for you.
It’s about time they did this too.
sue369 - September 6, 2008
Thanks!

I've only found
a few websites that can’t handle it. I wish that I could correlate a tab to a process in task manager.
It does seem to struggle with big BCB threads.
drewishdrewid - September 6, 2008
I havent been adventurous enough to try it
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
really?
haven’t had that problem, thank goodness

wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008

After these last couple of games, I’m actually expecting the opposing team to score in the first inning…:(
jdb-44 - September 6, 2008
Hey how about
trying this……GET SOME RUNS!!!!!
sue369 - September 6, 2008
So far so good
Looks like Marquis has decent stuff tonight and is throwing strikes. Just need him to avoid that one bad “Marquis inning” now.
rambler19 - September 6, 2008
Also...
I think that it’s important that the Cubs score first tonight…I’m sick of them playing from behind.
rambler19 - September 6, 2008
absolutely
first run seems to win the game… dunno the stats but it’s a momentum setter
Emelie - September 6, 2008
it seems of late they've been scored in bunches
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
OK, Hoff.
Prove to us you deserve to be here. McGeehee sure hasn’t.

Trouble is...

wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008

Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Was that a typo

mattvegas - September 6, 2008
Antsy

halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Omg Great american ballpark opened in 2003
this is the 39th sellout
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
75% Cubs fans.
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
Any stat on how many were v. the Cubs?
Goat Whisperer - September 6, 2008
nope just repeating what Pat said
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
And most of those were the first season...
Of course, it helps to have a winning team.
Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
It doesn't seem to
historically matter for Wrigley Field.
mattvegas - September 6, 2008
For the most part yeah..
but they never went over 2 million until ’84, and as recently as ’95 were under 2 mil.
Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
this is just their 5th sell out all year
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
C'mon Jason
you don’t walk the rookie…ESPECIALLY not a dusty rookie!
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
have no fear patterson is up
Chanman25 - September 6, 2008
its just irritating
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Thank goodness for Patterson.
zevkalman - September 6, 2008
why was he nibbling on a .200 hitter?
LAcarl519 - September 6, 2008
I remember the days
of Paul Bako. He was terribly bad.
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
I remember the days
of Paul Bako. He was terribly bad.
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
so bad you said it twice?
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Sorry
I accidently double posted.
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
no worries
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
you didn't double post
it’s the SBN gremlin that did
Emelie - September 6, 2008
I don't like this :(
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
hate the IBB so early...
but marquis should be able to get cueto…
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
No worries
That will end the inning
Galvan316 - September 6, 2008
IBB to Bako
Goat Whisperer - September 6, 2008
makes no sense IMHO
zevkalman - September 6, 2008
But it worked
cubsfaninatl - September 6, 2008

Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008

Ugh.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Odd lineup tonight...
Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
agree
Emelie - September 6, 2008
Soto needs to be hitting that high in the lineup.
But I won’t be jumping on the Hoffpauir bandwagon.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
don't worry
the clown car is already very full. :P
drewishdrewid - September 6, 2008
Cueto 1-39

Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
sorry I was off by one
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
Now, can we score some damn runs?
please?
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Since you said please
Sure. Why not?
Clutch16 - September 6, 2008
I'd settle for one
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
This may be a first for me.
SO let’s pull out all the stops! Go Cubs!
Zeke - September 6, 2008
do you close neighbors?
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
You are a dedicated fan.
sue369 - September 6, 2008
Nice play by Dickerson
On a Marquis liner.
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
The windows of the van are open. The windows in the garage and the overhead doos are closed.
But the house next door is empty and has been for sale since last November, so it’s all good. :)
Zeke - September 6, 2008
Uh, I mean "doors"
Zeke - September 6, 2008
oh ok....
shouldnt have been nosy. sorry
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
No problem.

Chanman25 - September 6, 2008
Fonzie!!
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
After his comment today
it’s appropriate that he gets a homerun.
sue369 - September 6, 2008
Details...
I missed it…
Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
It's in Al's
pregame thread. Sori just said it takes one guy to get things going.
sue369 - September 6, 2008
Or maybe it was
in last night post game thread.
sue369 - September 6, 2008
ok..thx..
glad to see him back it up…
Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
No Cubs were clogging the basepaths for him - he could just breeze around
Dusty approves.
Clutch16 - September 6, 2008
haha
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Theriot singles.

drewishdrewid - September 6, 2008

Homer!!!!!!! The Cubs have the lead!!!
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
Appropos of nothing...
…Bill James once did a study that said hitters do better on their birthday.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Appropos of nothing was right.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
any idea on why?
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
Not a one.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
oh ok.. sorry I misread it
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
Birthday endorphins (sp?)

tim815 - September 6, 2008
Did anyone happen to notice
What the heck that guy behind the backstop was eating?
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
How was that a strike?
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
It's weird, but Lee's power has regressed even more this year
Chanman25 - September 6, 2008
Geez!!
Louisiana Tech just got another third down conversion.
wrigleyrocker12 - September 6, 2008
Milwaukee Leads

Galvan316 - September 6, 2008
c'mon Peavy
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
marquis:
17 strikes, 17 balls. thats not good!
get it together jason!!
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
He is, in fact, Jason Marquis.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Marquis is a better pitcher than Lilly
at least this year…
Chanman25 - September 6, 2008
Lilly's been fine against everyone not called 'reds"
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 6, 2008
Uh, going into tonight's game their ERAs had all of a .03 difference.
How do you figure?
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Is it the fact that Lilly has pitched 30 more innings than Marquis?
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Or the fact that Lilly has almost twice as many strikeouts?
Or the fact that in 30 more innings he only has five more walks allowed?
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Hell, Lilly even has more wins if you care about that sort of thing.
I officially have no idea what you’re talking about here.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
Maybe he meant better "lately"?
Marquis last 3 starts…2.95 ERA.
Bump Bailey - September 6, 2008
I might buy that if he hadn't said this year.
cwyers - September 6, 2008
And the Reds' best hitter
Just worked a 3-0 count to full before grounding out.
Clutch16 - September 6, 2008
HEY!
SORIANO SLID TO MAKE A GREAT CATCH!
Guess slide grab fielder!
drewishdrewid - September 6, 2008
That was a selfish slide
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - September 6, 2008
no bunny hop on that sliding catch.
he’ll have to work on that
LAcarl519 - September 6, 2008
THAT would have been cool
Chanman25 - September 6, 2008
3 out!
Zeke - September 6, 2008
And the Cubs are still in the lead?
Clutch16 - September 6, 2008
Yepper!
Zeke - September 6, 2008
This must be the
best weather Pat has ever experienced. He has mentioned at least 4 times how great the weather is.
mattvegas - September 6, 2008
Maybe he just wants something positive to say
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
When you've watched the team lose 4 straight, you look for silver linings
Zeke - September 6, 2008
true even moreso when you've watched lose 6 in row
Madison Cub Fan - September 6, 2008
Duh. I must be in mental denial. I meant 6.
Zeke - September 6, 2008
Yeah, I guess so.
I always wondered how broadcasters can stand broadcasting for a terrible team. I know it’s a nice life and all, but it’s gotta be horrible to watch bad baseball everyday.
