Both Cubs and Sox are similar in that not one individual star stands out. I had an idea for a song about this season in Chicago but can’t decide which 3 players to use to parody Willie Mickey and the Duke.
Bark thanks for the quote on your sig. I was trying to find the exact wording (for the record I would save the baby’s life but would be thinking about how it affected the games outcome(
His countless double play balls in crucial situations is alarming
pretty much cost us that houston game at home last week with the 8th inning double play. Just doesn’t provide enough power for a 3 hitter on a championship calibre team
someone was just saying how we have a 4.5 game lead and thats fine. but we have to trake care of business take make sure that is fine.. thats all i am trying to say
I was thinking more along the lines of nutrition. Greg’s never looked like the kind of guy who would run up a mountain with tired strapped to his back.
Just wondering if anyone out there knows of an application for iPhones that can support either streaming video or audio of MLB games or if there are other phones out there that are capable of that.
several programs that chart the pitches and the action similar to Gamecast from ESPN for the iPhone but not video or audio programs that are available for other phones such as the Blackberry and other Windows based cell phones..
that one game where there was gonna be a close play at the plate and Quade held the runner (cant remember who) and Bob was like “the reason you hold him in that situation is because of who you’ve got coming up” and like 2 pitches later Sori hit a 3 run hr.
Victory!

Seperate thread for their game or just discuss it concurrent to this one?
puckishcubsfan - September 9, 2008
do you feel ignored?
I assume we discuss that game here as long as the Cubs are still playing
LAcarl519 - September 9, 2008
Both the Cubs and Sox
Both Cubs and Sox are similar in that not one individual star stands out. I had an idea for a song about this season in Chicago but can’t decide which 3 players to use to parody Willie Mickey and the Duke.

cubswynn - September 9, 2008
No
No but I think we did when I was a little kid.
puckishcubsfan - September 9, 2008
Sadly no , I used to love a super taco and a long night of drinking at the Pumping Company on Broadway back in the 80's
alabebo - September 9, 2008
It was that recent?
I thought it was more like when I was a little kid in the 70s that they went bye bye.

i love their tacos
i wish bk wouldn’t have got rid of their tacos
cubswynn - September 9, 2008

halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
There's one just down the street from me right now but I'm in Beaumont, Tx. this week
alabebo - September 9, 2008
I'd pay good money
to have Jack in the Box or at least a Hardee’s here. But then again, I’d be 300lbs if I ate that stuff often.

pretty much cost us that houston game at home last week with the 8th inning double play. Just doesn’t provide enough power for a 3 hitter on a championship calibre team

cubsfaninatl - September 9, 2008
But they are so
who cares.
Galvan316 - September 9, 2008
with the remaining
schedule i just want us to be playing better then we have of late
bizzle4 - September 9, 2008
You don't think the team
would like to be playing better too? They aren’t robots.
sue369 - September 9, 2008
i know that
someone was just saying how we have a 4.5 game lead and thats fine. but we have to trake care of business take make sure that is fine.. thats all i am trying to say
bizzle4 - September 9, 2008
and they know that.
They try. It doesn’t always work in their favor.
sue369 - September 9, 2008
oh yeah i was just remarking to
someones post
bizzle4 - September 9, 2008
The Cubs have a .601 winning %
thats pretty good no matter if the Brewers are playing bad….
LT - September 9, 2008
actually
they played better than we did. Just not much.
That’s baseball, man. Worse for them that it was for us, I guarantee that.
drewishdrewid - September 9, 2008
DLee should bat 1.000 w/RISP
…or so it seems. the first inning double was quickly forgotten.
LAcarl519 - September 9, 2008
And Riot wasn't even ISP
Clutch16 - September 9, 2008
so was the 4-for-6 and 3 rbi saturday night.
Bill Potter - September 9, 2008
i'm the product
of a broken home…
daily2b - September 9, 2008
Hear hear!
Bump Bailey - September 9, 2008
They look fresh... on a mission.

hoffer - September 9, 2008

bizzle4 - September 9, 2008
Wow, nice breaking stuff from Dumpster
hoffer - September 9, 2008

cubswynn - September 9, 2008

daily2b - September 9, 2008
Is Dome going to be benched indefinitely?
Basman - September 9, 2008
That's a good question.
sue369 - September 9, 2008

cubswynn - September 9, 2008
Thanks... maybe a little time off will straighten him out
Basman - September 9, 2008
Best line from that article
“he gets a tingling down in his buttocks when he throws the ball”
(in all seriousness…heal quick Gaudin)
chitownhawkeye - September 9, 2008
i wanted to twss so bad
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
he is getting at least one start this series
according to lou
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
He was sooo good early in the season & now..
he just seems lost at the plate. But I love his D in RF . I hope he can get out of this funk somehow
Basman - September 9, 2008
Demp's at 36 pitches through 3
Not too shabby.
Clutch16 - September 9, 2008
not too shabby? understatement!
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
Complete game = 108
Go ahead, Ryan
wnielsen - September 9, 2008
Either Dempster got better in the offseason
or i completely misjudged his “stuff”.
he’s got way better velocity/breaking stuff than i ever expected.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
i think he cited Maddux as a big reason why he's pitched well this season
which is weird, considering their workout regimens are completely different, it appears.
Bill Potter - September 9, 2008
maddux preaches strike 1
and trusting your stuff.
And there are definitely worse people to listen to than Maddux.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
Very true.
I was thinking more along the lines of nutrition. Greg’s never looked like the kind of guy who would run up a mountain with tired strapped to his back.
Bill Potter - September 9, 2008
+1
Like 95% of all pitchers in the league. Ever in the league.
chitownhawkeye - September 9, 2008
Hello Soto
hoffer - September 9, 2008
sounds like Wrigley.
drewishdrewid - September 9, 2008

daily2b - September 9, 2008
this is one of those nights
everyone gets nice bump on their average
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
why hasn't duncan gotten a managerial role?
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
dunno
he might not want one… i can’t imagine him not getting an offer at least.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
LBR
daily2b - September 9, 2008

Aussie Cub - September 9, 2008

cubswynn - September 9, 2008
Mobile MLB Multimedia
Just wondering if anyone out there knows of an application for iPhones that can support either streaming video or audio of MLB games or if there are other phones out there that are capable of that.
Hard4Harden - September 9, 2008
Theres a gameday thing for iPhone
I saw it in Baseball Prospectus… but didn’t save the article cuz I don’t have an iphone.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
yes
it’s through mlb.tv, check it out
my phone, lg enV does not support it
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
i have a motorola q
it works on there but they want you to pay per month in addition to your regular online subscription.
LT - September 9, 2008
my buddy has the iphone
says it is not available. he is a certified computer geek
daily2b - September 9, 2008
I have seen...
several programs that chart the pitches and the action similar to Gamecast from ESPN for the iPhone but not video or audio programs that are available for other phones such as the Blackberry and other Windows based cell phones..
Hard4Harden - September 9, 2008
here's the link
http://mlb.mlb.com/mobile/audio.jsp?c_id=mlb
cubswynn - September 9, 2008
Thanks, Wynn
Hard4Harden - September 9, 2008
I just can't imagine...
having to watch playoff series and beyond on a game tracker like that and not being able to hear or see the action…
Hard4Harden - September 9, 2008
get a slingbox
LT - September 9, 2008
What is a slingbox?
Hard4Harden - September 9, 2008
In short its a device that lets you watch your home tv
from your laptop or phone. read more at slingmedia dot com
LT - September 9, 2008
Unfortunately
I don’t think that it is compatible with iPhones… As I look more and more, it seems that only Windows based cellphones are going to work?
Hard4Harden - September 9, 2008
Tony LaRussa for HOF
alabebo - September 9, 2008
wow
daily2b - September 9, 2008
just once
i’d like to have a series w/ the cards where we DON’T see this picture.

drewishdrewid - September 9, 2008
QUADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basman - September 9, 2008
I guess they had to be cautious w/ Ankiel's arm
Basman - September 9, 2008
geo hit the brakes
and just couldn’t get going again.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
right call per Bob
LT - September 9, 2008
no, it was the right decision
if he hadn’t overrun the ball, Soto would have been out at home, almost certainly.
drewishdrewid - September 9, 2008
ALRIGHT!!!
COME ON SORI!!!!
Galvan316 - September 9, 2008
lets go fonzie
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
Ankiels got a gun
I agree with the initial hold, and the second hold lol
cubsfaninatl - September 9, 2008
true
but you never know when he’ll throw it to the backstop, and he was retreating to pick up the ball….lost his momentum completely.
Meh, it’s spilled milk, not gonna cry over it.
Gibbon Jockey - September 9, 2008
It's not Munson'd
It’s Quade’d. Do your job man. The original stop is fine, but at least be quick on the play.
Gibbon Jockey - September 9, 2008
+2
hoffer - September 9, 2008
I think he still could've scored but oh well
Basman - September 9, 2008
this one isn't on quade!
geo hit the brakes and just couldn’t get going again…
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
70 pitches for Lohse already. Not even the end of the 4th inning....
zevkalman - September 9, 2008
Another Pat Hughes false alarm
3 outs
wnielsen - September 9, 2008
ah pat!
i hate when he does that.
how’s ron doing? he was pretty glum the last few times i listened.
halfblindcubbiegirl - September 9, 2008
Just turned the radio on
wnielsen - September 9, 2008

Soriano blasted that ball too
Galvan316 - September 9, 2008

sue369 - September 9, 2008
Who remembers?
that one game where there was gonna be a close play at the plate and Quade held the runner (cant remember who) and Bob was like “the reason you hold him in that situation is because of who you’ve got coming up” and like 2 pitches later Sori hit a 3 run hr.
cubsfaninatl - September 9, 2008
DeRo pulls a foul ball out of the stands
Pujols is out
