I know there are better baseball minds here than my own, but with the hat logo alone, this has to be after 1958 right? If I remember correctly the C changed to that style in 57, but they had white piping on the seams.
Arnold pitched 13 games for the 1966 Cubs after being acquired by the Braves. Pitched most of his career with the Red Sox. We traded him the following season for Marv Breeding, who hadn’t played in the majors since 1963 and never played for the Cubs.
Mickey Mantle wannabe
Chanman25 - January 9, 2009
Just a guess
Mel Wright?
KedzieKid - January 9, 2009
Carl Sawatski?
jbertram - January 9, 2009
None of the above.
Al Yellon - January 9, 2009
Johnny Briggs?
jbertram - January 9, 2009
Now THERE is an obscure Cub.
Pitched 26 games over three seasons from 1956-58.
But no, it’s not him.
Al Yellon - January 9, 2009
Don't have a guess
but doesn’t he kind of look like Tom Brady?
BCB1987 - January 9, 2009
Dic Selma??
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Dick Selma?
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Or Ken Rudolf?
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Looks a lot like Selma
…funky nose shape.
KDoggers - January 9, 2009
Oh man, can we have a hint?
jbertram - January 9, 2009
It's too early for hints
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
He's an ACE
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
Hey, Arnold, do you need another clue?
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
Sure, I wouldn't mind
haha
jbertram - January 9, 2009
He pitched one year for the Cubs
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
Thats what I was figuring
I’m still having a hell of a time, haha.
jbertram - January 9, 2009
There's a clue in this part of the thread.
Al Yellon - January 9, 2009
I'm going to negatory Ken
…I think this guy’s carrying to much face fat, but, I mean, we’re looking at people from 20 years before I was born.
KDoggers - January 9, 2009
OK
I know there are better baseball minds here than my own, but with the hat logo alone, this has to be after 1958 right? If I remember correctly the C changed to that style in 57, but they had white piping on the seams.
Someone tell me if I am way off base.
jbertram - January 9, 2009
you're off by 5-10 years
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
This assumes I know who this is
which I’m pretty confident I do
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
Off on the player??
Which means I’m 5-10 too early, because I think I got the logo stuff right.
jbertram - January 9, 2009
it is after '58
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
Then tell
who it is flachimesa
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Then tell
Us who it is flachimesa
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Cleveland Spiders
won only 20 games in 1899
Clutche - January 9, 2009
This is better than I thought.
No one’s got it yet.
Al Yellon - January 9, 2009
Am I giving too many hints, Al?
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
Apparently not, since no one has it yet.
Al Yellon - January 9, 2009
Johnny Klippstein?
Shanghai Badger - January 9, 2009
I'm going to negatory Klippstein
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Well, if flachimesa's hints are right, my guess certainly isn't
But I just felt like guessing him, anyway.
Shanghai Badger - January 9, 2009
John Goetz
…and I have to leave work now so I’m done.
jbertram - January 9, 2009
Need another hint
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Too late.
(That’s a hint.)
Al Yellon - January 9, 2009
This is more aganizing than watching re-runs of the Cubs playoff performance
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Arnold C Earley
rlpete - January 9, 2009
Correct!!!!
Arnold pitched 13 games for the 1966 Cubs after being acquired by the Braves. Pitched most of his career with the Red Sox. We traded him the following season for Marv Breeding, who hadn’t played in the majors since 1963 and never played for the Cubs.
He wore #47 for the Cubs.
carmen_fanzone - January 9, 2009
I'd say Arnold C Earley is it
Clutche - January 9, 2009
Arnold C Earley
But I wouldn’t call him an ACE
Clutche - January 9, 2009
His initials are A.C.E.
flachimesa - January 9, 2009
