Hmm

I didn’t know they sold spring season tickets, I guess somebody would buy them..

Ahem.

I have spring season tickets.

Is there a 7-11 within walking distance?
Unfortunately, no.

Not even within driving distance.

But there's always a Circle K nearby.
True.

But they’ll only let you bring sealed bottles of water into HoHoKam. “Security”, they say. Ridiculous.

"Job security" maybe.

For these guys:

YES IT IS .....

And I can’t wait to get there …..March 10 th can’t come quick enough ….Plane lands at 11;20 am and I plan to be at Hohokam for the 1 pm game …

Hahaha

Touché, touché..

Thanks Al,

when I commented 2 days ago I knew it had to be coming soon. Better late than never. I’ll be at games on the 12th thru the 19th.

What?? No game on St. Patricks??

It was a blast last year at the Dodgers, everybody was in green!

I will be happy to share an Old Style with you!
Consider it done!
Only night game is one in Phoenix Vs D'backs

Perhaps last years dust storm at the Giants night game in Scottsdale taught them a lesson. Even I left early.

Even I left early, too.

That was ridiculous.

I like how the Giants broadcast all of their ST

games online (audio). I wish the Cubs would do that.

Some of the games are still broadcast on the Giants’ flagship radio station with their regular team but the rest are streamed on their website with a different broadcast crew.

I liked what the White Sox did last year with some of their ST games. They made them into a talk show where they answered emails and took phone calls from fans while still letting fans know when anything interesting happened in the game.

Maybe the Cubs will do that next year.
Most of the '09 ST games were available online

MLB-AM streamed most of the Cubs’ spring training as part of the MLB TV & audio packages. It wasn’t for free, but better than nothing. As a European fan, one needs to be a subscriber anyways, so ST didn’t really cost me “extra.”

I wanna be rich so I can go to there every year...
I wanna be very rich

because flying from Germany to visit Wrigely would be very expensive.

You don't have to be rich

I’m not rich LOL

What happened to...

the season starting at the very beginning of April and even sometimes at the end of March? OT I know but I miss it.

It will do so again as the calendar changes from year to year.

If they had done it in 2009, the regular season would have started on March 28. That’s pretty early. As it is, this year it will begin on April 4 (April 5 for the Cubs).

When did the

Reds come to Arizona ?

2010
This will be the Cincinnati Reds’ first spring in Arizona, and the Cubs will play their National League Central foes March 13 and March 29 in Mesa and March 21 in Goodyear.

Linkalot

Be there

3/18-3/23

Flights booked and rooms reserved.

See the Cubs then the Blackhawks

On Saturday, March 20th the Blackhawks will be in town to play the Coyotes. I’m thinking of taking in a ballgame and then a hockey game.

Split Squad Games/Vegas Games

For a Mesa novice planning their first trip to spring training, how hard would you advise to skip the weekend when the split squad will be in Vegas? I’d prefer to head down that weekend, but is people’s experience that having half the team out of state lessens the experience? If necessary, I will push off to the following weekend.

Any thoughts on that would be much appreciated. Thanks folks.

STILL A GOOD WEEKEND....

Even with the split squad it looks like a good baseball weekend . Phoenix to see the Brew crew on Friday . Then back to Hohokam on Saturday for the Reds . On Sunday Tempe is very close to Mesa . ( And the Angels fans can tailgate with the best of them ) . I agree with Beer Cub . We are staying local not driving To Vegas . Of course if you like a long road trip thats up to you . I would send for a Mesa travel Guide it’s free and will answer alot of questions . Do you know where the Cub fans hang out at ???

Many Cub fans hang.....

at the old Harry and Steve’s/then Sluggo’s/now Diamond’s Sports Grille on Centennial in Mesa, across from the old Sheraton/now Marriott. Some are also at the Main Street Bar and and Grill on Main Street in Mesa, very near the Mezona Best Western. The Cub minor leaguers stay at the Dobson Ranch Best Western on Dobson Ranch Rd in Mesa right off the 60, where Hundley and the Fantasy Campers stay in January.

Wow

KInda hard to plan long weekends around this schedule, unless it’s at the very end or beginning. Going to Vegas, while fun, is something I can do anytime. It ain’t the same.

I suspect the old Harry and Steve’s/Sluggo’s/now Diamond’s is going to be somewhat different this year, given this schedule. St. Patrick’s week doesn’t have a lot of home or local options. Glendale is just about on your way out of town if you were driving west. I might still go during the vegas weekend and do the split squad in Mesa, then at Tempe, etc.

Dugout Tix

Don’t the D-backs have suites next to the dugouts? Anybody know how to sit down next to the Cubs dugout?
