Do my eyes deceive me or is a lot of the font on BCB now in italics?
Thomspons’s stats, OK, he wasn’t great, but he had a couple of OK seasons. Big disappointment, though? Was he touted as a great up-and-coming player, “the next big thing” or something like that?
And Kingman — he had a couple of good years. Not a huge disappointment. Actually, he was worse after he left the Cubs.
Yes, Thompson was supposed to be a "big lefty bat".
The Cubs tried to turn him into a power hitter, when he was better suited to being a Mark Grace-type (even though he was before Grace’s time). If they had just installed him at LF or RF and left him alone, he might have done OK.

Perhaps it’s a new right-wing slant… ;)

I suspect there's an open italics tag in the post.

Hey
You forgot Jeff Blauser

The Blauser
My favorite article from one of my favorite blogger. Warning: NSFW language.
Needless to say, Cubs fans were not the only ones disgusted by him.

What about
Fred McGriff

We could probably double the list in that panel.
Doug Jones — another over-the-hill closer who failed as a Cub.

Eddie Miksis
“Miksis will fix us.”

Can we put an entire fielding position on that list?
Because it seems that most of what we’ve had at third base in the past 40 years would probably qualify (with a few exceptions).
Rusty in Peoria - December 21, 2009
3rd Base?
Hey, what about center field? I don’t know if the Cubs have had anyone that lasted more than a few seasons there since the 50’s.
FrankSereno - December 21, 2009
Rick Monday played there for five years.
I think that’s the longest CF tenure since the 50’s.
