Here's a little different twist on the Name That Cub idea.
The Little Leaguer in the second row, second from the right (of the four players pictured, not including the coaches in that row) is someone who would wear a Cub uniform many years after this photo was taken.
But who is it? Thanks to BCB reader bison for the photo.
Another $10 gift card from Distant Replays to the first to identify this future Cub.

TC Cubby - February 13, 2009

He probably DID look different as a child. It’s not him. Or Lofton.

TC Cubby - February 13, 2009
Dude.
Now I have the urge to find my old Little League pictures.
neverAcquiesce - February 13, 2009
In other news from googling bridgeport and the cubs
Adam Greenberg is playing for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic league this year
TC Cubby - February 13, 2009
Good for him.
Glad to see he’s still playing.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
I was surprised to see
that he is only 26
TC Cubby - February 13, 2009
Greenberg
I saw him playing at Dickey-Stephens in North Little Rock for the Travelers last season.

ottawacubbie - February 13, 2009
Strange.
You gave a different answer even after you won.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
See answer above.
It’s Dusty Baker.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
Haha,
I tend to talk myself out of a lot of prizes, I was sure it was Dusty, but then I remembered seeing a giant Cubs poster in Nassau when I got married in the Bahamas and just threw that name up there.
ottawacubbie - February 13, 2009
You still win.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
but not for lack of using the "reply" button
flachimesa - February 13, 2009
Strange
Didn’t recognize him without a toothpick or sunglasses.
blakethesnake77 - February 13, 2009
Wow, I'm an idiot.
I skimmed the description and was looking at the wrong kid the whole time.
daver - February 13, 2009
What's a Brass Rocket?
Clutche - February 13, 2009
I believe Bridgeport Brass is a company
They may have sponsored the team.
The “R” on their caps may represent Rockets or Riverside.
flachimesa - February 13, 2009
Probably Riverside, where Dusty grew up.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
I'd have guessed it stood for Rockets...
as I’d think that all of the teams in that league were from Riverside.
SouthernCub - February 13, 2009
True.
But, maybe all the teams in that league had “R” on their caps for “Riverside”.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
According to...
… this, in 1960 — which is probably about when that photo was taken, Dusty would have been 11 in 1960 — Bridgeport Brass was a Fortune 500 company.
Al Yellon - February 13, 2009
by any chance
couldnt dusty have played against Bobby Bonds? both played little league in Riverside and were only a few years apart.
truthaddict11 - February 13, 2009
Unlikely.
In Little League, you generally play against kids your age or maybe 1 year younger or older. Bobby Bonds was born in 1946, Dusty Baker in 1949.
