The Red Sox And Yankees Play Each Other Today. Did You Really Think You'd Get To See The Cubs On Fox? - Cubs vs. Cardinals, Saturday 4/25, 3:10 CT

Good news: they've finally updated the Fox Sports page listing market-by-market coverage for Saturday baseball.

Bad news: with the Red Sox and Yankees playing, the Cubs and Cardinals have been relegated to the status of "backup game". Here are the markets carrying the Cubs game:

Alexandria, LA; Baton Rouge, LA; Bowling Green, KY; Cedar Rapids, IA; Champaign, IL; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbia, MO; Columbus, MS; Davenport, IA; Dayton, OH; Des Moines, IA; Evansville, IN; Ft. Smith, AR; Ft. Wayne, IN; Grand Rapids, MI; Green Bay, WI; Greenwood, MS; Houston, TX; Huntsville, AL; Indianapolis, IN; Jackson, MS; Jackson, TN; Joplin, MO; Knoxville, TN; LaCrosse, WI; Lafayette, LA; Lake Charles, LA; Lexington, KY; Lincoln, NE; Little Rock, AR; Louisville, KY; Madison, WI; Marquette, MI; Memphis, TN; Meridian, MS; Milwaukee, WI; Monroe, LA; North Platte, NE; Omaha, NE; Ottumwa, IA; Paducah, KY; Peoria, IL; Quincy, IL; Rockford, IL; Shreveport, LA; Sioux City, IA; Springfield, IL; Springfield, MO; St. Louis, MO; Terre Haute, IN; Topeka, KS; Traverse City, MI; Tulsa, OK; Wausau, WI; Wichita, KS

So, basically, if you are east of Cincinnati or west of Tulsa, you're blacked out of Cubs coverage today. Here is today's MLB.com Mediacenter for other games.

Good news: the Cubs have won the only game they've played on Fox this year so far (last Saturday). Oddity: last year, the Cubs played .500 on WGN televised games, while they were far over .500 on CSN. So far this year, they're 3-2 on WGN, but 3-5 on CSN. Yes, I know this is strictly coincidental.

Update on Brian McCann's trouble with LASIK: he's headed to the DL and will likely have to have the surgery again to correct the vision problems he is having. This is exceptionally rare -- only about 1% of LASIK patients have problems this serious -- and it shouldn't stop Carlos Zambrano from having it if he still wants to. I had LASIK in 1998 and have had no problems.

25-year-old Mitchell Boggs is making his first career start against the Cubs. His only major league appearance so far this year was two innings in relief at Wrigley Field last Friday, allowing one run and striking out three.

Sean Marshall also pitched in the series last weekend at Wrigley Field, on Thursday, April 16. He left trailing 3-0; the Cubs bailed him out by tying the game, but eventually the bullpen lost it. (Some might say the bullpen is losing it all the time, but that's another story.) Marshall allowed three earned runs in five innings, including a homer to Chris Duncan. Lifetime he is 2-1, 3.67 vs. St. Louis in 34.1 innings.

Topkea!

Lawrence is only 25 minutes from Topeka! But get this—I’m only 35 minutes from Kansas City. So I can literally “choose” between which Fox channel I watch. You are idiots, FOX/MLB. This is the epitome of why you are stupid.

I won’t be around today, going over the the new Kauffman Stadium to see the Tigers lose to the Royals. I’ll post a full review of the new stadium tonight.

Dan

Good news for you...

…but I live 10 minutes from the Plaza, so bad news for me.

GO CUBS GO!!!
Curse you Mother Nature and a pox on MLB schedule-makers!

Just took a walk around Wrigley. With these 20 mph SW winds, the balls would have been flying out of Wrigley today. Instead, Cubs are out of town and I have to be house boy – dishes, laundry, paperwork, etc.

Sheesh you guys...

I leave for a night and, what happens? Any news on the injuries?

Let’s go get ’em today!

marmol mri

grade 1 sprain, possible throw on monday; rami considered no worse today
www.twitter.com/cst_cubs

Thank you much!

Heilman and Gregg in the back of the bullpen, I presume.

We need Marshall to go 7 today.
The ball is gonna jump quite a bit today though

Per NWS: Wind at 17 with gusts up to 30 mph.

I hope Marshall has the curveball working today.

But is that blowing in or out at St. Louis?
mostly out - I checked google map of Busch. It's configured almost like Wrigley.

Looks like it’s rotated just a little bit clockwise than Wrigley so a strong South wind will favor the RH hitters more.

I like this commentary from Gordo's twitter..good utilization of your 140 characters
Rami news: Considered no worse today. No DL for now. And club hasn’t DL’d Bradley yet either. Thin bench now anorexic
At least last year, Fox used to split the coverage and

have the “favorite” national game on the Fox affiliate in LA, while putting the second game, if that was the Cubs, on FSE (Fox Sports Espanol). That was great because I could just turn off the sound and sync it to the audio feed of Pat & Ron.

I guess the mental midgets at Fox believe that EVERYONE has to watch the Yankees and Red Sox today. Silly me, of course!!!

Based on

this link, the Cubs won’t be on FSE today. But they will be the feature game on Saturday, May 30.

Yes, I saw that in the LA Times sports section this AM.

That is why I posted my note of despair and anger about the “mental midgets from Fox” that chose to put the Evil Empire on both outlets (the network and FSE). I sigh and resign myself to the radio feed.

Go Cubs!!

BTW, Al: kudos on the Fukudome picture caption!
Sudden inspiration.
BOGGS

LIGHT EM UP

What is a Mitchell Boggs?
a very heavy third baseman?
From @cst_cubs

No rami but z and hill taking grounders at third.

z?

that could prove interesting

I've seen him take grounders and throws at 1B before during BP.

No doubt that if Lou had enough guts to send him out there, Z would do a credible job.

+1

At least he’d play with intensity.

or get thrown out for arguing balls and strikes
and if we put Lilly at 2B - literally second base...

…No Cardinal runner would get past 1st.

I cannot believe my eyes

somone must be messing with Fox here in Austin, TX

they choose the Cubs/Cards game today

SHHH!

Don’t tell anyone!

another Cubbie fan in Austin, cool

I’ve seen a lot of Cubs fans in the area

I know quite a few of us
Al

your list says Bos/NYY for Austin, TX but my Guide here says Cubs/Cards

I am more confused than a Fox exec right now

FYI

for Zip Code 78741 on here it shows Cubs/Cards

http://www.tvguide.com/Listings/default.aspx

Well...

… glad you get the game in Austin. Fox Sports’ listing of markets says you get the other one. SHHH! Don’t tell anyone or they might switch back!

For once in my life, living in Rockford is going to result in something positive.

Wait, you mean there's baseball not on the east coast?!

No way!

( from someone forced to watch Yankees/Mets endlessly due to geographic location)

ANOTHER NATIONAL BLACKOUT? WTF?

Well, at least maybe the Yankess will get hammered and be losing 16-2 in the 5th inning and Fox will switch to the Cub/Cards game.

Come on, SWL

Do you REALLY think that Fox would miss out on a chance to get in an extra word about how great the Yankees are? The score could be 100-0 and it wouldn’t switch…. :(

I put up a call to boycott...

…Fox Saturday Baseball on my twitter. It won’t work, but I felt I had to make my displeasure known.

Hey everyone

anyone else watching this week in baseball? Just made me realize how complete the dodgers are. Might be the team to beat in the NL.

I've been watching many Dodgers games

and they really look good. I think they’d win w/o Manny. The pitching is much better than anticipated, especially the bull pen.

Neal Cotts?
could be - definitely fits the LOOGY description (in more ways than one)
Rich Harden talking about playing guitar....riveting.
He was just in it for the Walgreens gift certificate.
pathetic

thats the one and only word to describe this cubs team, pathetic, thats what they cubs are pathetic among many other things. this season is already done i can tell you that. bradley is hurt and will only continue to reaggravate his groin thanks for trying milton, our top hitter is injured, lee sucks, probably gonna trade him after this season, no bullpen, a manager that doesn’t understand soriano is not a number 3 hitter, he is not disciplined enough to hit in the 3 hole, lets see what else….o we have fontenot as a everyday second baseman, which at this point has proved he is not an everyday player. this season is lost, lets prepare to gear up for next season, if you got tickets for this year sell them don’t waste your money

I am so pissed at Fox and MLB

Is it just me, or does MLB consistently schedule a Cubs/Cards series the same weekend as Yankees/RedSox?? It seems like this has happened a dozen times over the last many seasons. And then of course, Fox grabs the Yanks/RS as their main game, and the Cubs/Cards ends up game 2, and then here in Detroit, Cub fans lose out. I am beside myself in ire re how much this keeps happening. I sent Fox a note on this as well. Not that it will do any good. And even last week, Cubs Cards was Game 2, to effing Yankees/Tribe. And to the person, who speculated that if the RS/Yanks turned into a rout, that they would switch to the Cubs/Cards…..no freaking way. They sure didn’t last week, when the Tribe put a 14 spot on God’s team in the 2nd inning. Anyone else agree with me??

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
