This game was broken open by fontenot holding the ball for slightly too long at third and by 2 walks on pitches that were getting called as strikes for haren. Furthermore, we need to actually hit the ball if we’d like to win. Chill out, it’s April.
I also know we are going to lose a bunch of games this year, and if we stay at .500 while waiting for a bunch of people to get healthy, I’m not going to freak out.
Preempt: I’m not a pollyanna, I think we should upgrade the bullpen stat, and I wouldn’t mind getting rid of gathright since he seems totally worthless. But no, I"m not going to freak out in April.
Although it is April I think that even early in the season we can get a feel for what the tone for this year is going to be.
If all we ever hear is “the bullpen blew it” or “only three hits?!” that does not signal a good outlook for us.
Obviously there is time to improve
Hope I am wrong
we needed a stellar effort out of Lilly to even have a chance. Sadly, that didn’t happen. Let’s go get em tomorrow with ARAM and DLEE back in the lineup and start winning some damn games!!
It's so nice
and quiet in here.

Emelie - April 27, 2009
I know it's the "in" thing to be optimistic in here.
But this team couldn’t beat Buttermaker’s Bears right now.
Ron Trauma - April 27, 2009
Not tonight anyway.
sue369 - April 27, 2009
we suck tonight
honeymunchkin666 - April 27, 2009

Haven't you been paying attention?
There’s three or four people here that thinh they have some sort of right to dictate to everybody-best just to ignore them,
bluekoolaide - April 27, 2009

honeymunchkin666 - April 27, 2009

Emelie - April 27, 2009

Thanks for the jump, Sue.
zevkalman - April 27, 2009
you're welcome
sue369 - April 27, 2009
Awlright Shark!
znohitter - April 27, 2009
The game looked so promising after sori's homerun.
But it wasn’t meant to be. Damn Lilly, stop walking people and you wouldn’t have gotten into so much trouble.
lexmarklover - April 27, 2009
Wait a sec. How can the Cubs win a game with only three hits? It's not all Lilly....
zevkalman - April 27, 2009
Excuse myself, I meant Lilly played a very key role in the loss.
lexmarklover - April 27, 2009
He deserves a nice slice of blame for this one
Itchy - April 27, 2009
imagine if we could have managed more than 3 hits!?!?!?
BoVandy - April 27, 2009
are you watching the same game?
It had little to do with walks.
slcathena - April 27, 2009
it actually had a lot to do with the walks.
Why did Lilly walk Reynolds to start the 4th on 4 PITCHES? He also walked the catcher before the pitcher. Get it done son.
lexmarklover - April 27, 2009
Very true
All our pitching problems so far stem from too many damn walks!!
Itchy - April 27, 2009
Look.
This game was broken open by fontenot holding the ball for slightly too long at third and by 2 walks on pitches that were getting called as strikes for haren. Furthermore, we need to actually hit the ball if we’d like to win. Chill out, it’s April.
slcathena - April 27, 2009
Awesome
I’ve been waiting all night for someone to play the “it’s April” card.
Because as we all know, April losses count less
BoVandy - April 27, 2009
Right!
LOL!!
Itchy - April 27, 2009
I don't even count wins and losses til after the all-star break
I’m really not even sure why they bother to keep score.
bluekoolaide - April 27, 2009
I obviously know that wins are "equal"
I also know we are going to lose a bunch of games this year, and if we stay at .500 while waiting for a bunch of people to get healthy, I’m not going to freak out.
Preempt: I’m not a pollyanna, I think we should upgrade the bullpen stat, and I wouldn’t mind getting rid of gathright since he seems totally worthless. But no, I"m not going to freak out in April.
slcathena - April 27, 2009
I DO agree with you that it's too early to freak out
Problem is it doesn’t say early all that long in baseball.
We need to start getting things sorted out asap.
bluekoolaide - April 27, 2009

honeymunchkin666 - April 27, 2009
I disagree
April was a pretty good month for the Cubs in 2006. Then it all went to hell.
The Cubs stunk on ice until Memorial Day in 2007. Then they took off and won the division.
I think there are some problems on this team, but nothing that can’t be fixed. Tuesday, with most of the regulars coming back, will begin that part.
Not Bruce Froemming - April 27, 2009
THose pitches weren't strikes
Ted walked 4 and 2 of them scored.
Itchy - April 27, 2009
With this popgun lineup
we needed a stellar effort out of Lilly to even have a chance. Sadly, that didn’t happen. Let’s go get em tomorrow with ARAM and DLEE back in the lineup and start winning some damn games!!
Itchy - April 27, 2009
Night all!
slcathena - April 27, 2009
night! sleep tight!

slcathena - April 27, 2009

Doggie Stalker - April 27, 2009
Why didn't Hendry sign Eckstein instead of Miles?
Itchy - April 27, 2009
Why don't you piss up a rope?
Not Bruce Froemming - April 27, 2009
Go to bed jackass!
Itchy - April 27, 2009
Whine, whine, whine
You must be a lot of fun to be around.
Pull up your pants and go to bed.
