“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don’t care if I never get back,
Cause it’s root, root, root for the CUBBIES
If they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.”
I’m not gonna cite the THT article stating that Soriano is the best RF arm from 2008 for the umpteenth time, but they are both above average corner fielders. I’d take Soriano right now this season, because he’s healthy.
But the Orioles probably have the best defensive outfield with Pie, Jones, and Markakis all 5+ UZR/150 outfielders; all are very fast and have good arms.
… in which he declared the season over and claimed Bradley wouldnt’ have his third hit till July 37th, among other redic problems that probably would have been taken seriously 24 hours ago…
these 3 1/2 innings are too small of a sample to say the season is not over there is no reason to expect the Cubs to win again. All this game was, is another meaningless game, to raise up our hopes, jsut to crush them like so many paper beer cups. I do not know why they even won this game, since they know they will not win again. MB got a hit, so what, he wont get another until July 37th, mark that down, so when I say I told you so, you know i am right. If anything, Lou should be fired for letting the Cubs score too many runs tonight. We all know that you can only score a certain amount of runs a series, and he used them all this one game, how stupid, fireh im now.
This year it will be an away blue jersey, and I’m leaning “Johnson”…but I’m afraid that it’s such a random name it’s not immediately known by fans. Maybe Soriano would be a good investment, considering he’s with us til 2014. I’ll be buying mine from you, that is if you can ship it to Kansas.
It’s not his best work but the whole Girl stranded and the one thing she can grasp onto is her connection to baseball because of her dad thing just resonated.
You run screaming from the clown go to page 3.
You think the clown is friendly and follow him go to page 4.
The clown freaks you out a bit so you send your brother off with him, go to page 5.
the Astros put Valverde on the DL and Hawkins will be the fill-in closer. Looks like he will be on the DL when the Cubs go to Houston on their next road trip.
me first?
doofus cubs guy - April 28, 2009
Did everyone go to bed ?
Doggie Stalker - April 28, 2009
will be soon
MJMars - April 28, 2009
nope
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
About to…But going to bed happy =]
Jaz - April 28, 2009
not quite yet.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
I'm sleepy, but still awake.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
not yet.
it’s not quite nine here.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
No
just the AZ pitchers
jaxinnabox - April 28, 2009
Everybody SING!
“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.

drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
LET'S GET SOME RUNS!!!
znohitter - April 28, 2009
bleeeech
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
pardon?
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
BTW Z is...
almost halfway to the record of most home runs by a pitcher
Wes Ferrel holds it with 37
jkobus - April 28, 2009
3 years, over/under.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
over
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Isn't it funny that Babe Ruth isn't the record holder for pitchers home runs?
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
that's because
they realized early on that he needed to play every day.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
He pitched for quite a while though, didn't he?
I thought he didn’t become an outfielder until he was traded to the Yankees.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
I don't know
but it makes sense that the RedSox would screw that up. :P
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
funny, we are winning
and the ledge jumpers are nowhere to be seen.
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
I think there are a few who would call me a ledge jumper
even thought I’m not, and simply call it like I see it, but I know some think I’m overly negative, and I’ve been here all night
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
No complaints here.
Ledge jumping is fine. Ledge jumping repeatedly is not.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
the ledge jumpers IMO
are those whu would be watching this game, and seriously talking about how we wil find a way to blow this game, etc
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
I don't think those people exist
and the fact that they "aren’t around’ seems to back me up on that
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
when we are losing, they come out, when we are winning they hibernate
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
then they wouldn't be around during an 11-1 game
claiming we’re going to somehow blow it. Right?
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
of course...
Jimmyeatworld - April 28, 2009
Hopefully they stopped toeing the ledge...
… and finally took the plunge after yesterdays game. I’d happily stand up here, looking down at them and smiling for the rest of the season.
AndrewJStone - April 28, 2009
Z still
pitching?
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
yeah, whats up with that
it’s just unnecessary
MJMars - April 28, 2009
giving the pen a rest I guess?
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
Len says its because its such a long stretch without an off day
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Makes sense.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
Pen's been used a lot lately.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
I understand that
But Z has gone 118, 109, 109 in his last 3 starts and the bullpen has been pretty well rested
MJMars - April 28, 2009
It can pay dividends in the upcoming games though.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
Yes.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
he's trying to talk Lou
into letting have the CG.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
That's a conversation I'd like to hear.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
he wants that cycle :-)
I think Lou wants to let him pitch a quality start to save his bullpen a bit.
aznsensation - April 28, 2009
ReJo
in for Sori.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
paul pierce is a tool and a toolshed
honeymunchkin666 - April 28, 2009
Why take Soriano and Dome out
While keeping Bradley in? Take him out instead, let him rest. Wouldn’t that make more sense?
Sobenergy - April 28, 2009
seeing if he can actually play a full game?
see if he’s actually healthy again mayhap
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
Bradley is better
on D than Sori. I presume Dome is out because Gath needs the playing time.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
Maybe to give them a rest, they've both been playing every day.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
I'm not sure I agree with MIlton being better on D than Sori
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
Hard to say, I haven't seen Milton play the outfield much.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
Debatable.
Soriano’s UZR/150:
LF: 8.6
OF: 8.9
Bradley’s UZR/150:
RF: 15.8
OF: 8.4
I’m not gonna cite the THT article stating that Soriano is the best RF arm from 2008 for the umpteenth time, but they are both above average corner fielders. I’d take Soriano right now this season, because he’s healthy.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
Correction: Soriano is the best LF arm.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
And just to wrap it all up with the OFs:
Gathright:
LF:16.9
CF: 9.6
OF: 10.9
Joey is a very good defensive OF.
Johnson:
LF: 23.8
CF: -17.1
RF: -7.1
OF: 6.2
Reed is an interesting case, because he has a N in the hundreds for every OF position, but really struggles in CF. And we never put him in LF
Dome:
CF: -30.3
RF: 11.7
OF: 7.0
Apparently Dome isn’t as good a CF (24 games) as we thunk.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
fwiw
Reed is in left right now.
I still say we had a great center-fielder in Pie.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
He played almost 50 games in LF in 2008, I was wrong.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
And Pie is only a 5.7 UZR/150 outfielder.
But the Orioles probably have the best defensive outfield with Pie, Jones, and Markakis all 5+ UZR/150 outfielders; all are very fast and have good arms.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
It's way to late for so much math.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
i think Lou feels he should receive as many AB's pressure free
so he can get more comfortable
aznsensation - April 28, 2009
good point
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
two base hits in a row
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
ok, NOW you pull Z
MJMars - April 28, 2009
Hopefully Rami plays tomorrow
Cubsfanatic - April 28, 2009
pre-game didn't make that sound likely
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
I think Lou said they will reevaluate him when they come back to Chicago on Thursday.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
All right, kids
Game’s proably not gonna get away from us tonight, and I just flew back from the Left Coast. I’m gonna sign off.
Go Cubs!
Clutch16 - April 28, 2009
have a good night
MJMars - April 28, 2009
night!
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
take care
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
night
sue369 - April 28, 2009
a third base hit.
11-2 Cubs. I still leave Z in here. Can’t hurt THAT much.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
i'll allow one more run before taking out Z
aznsensation - April 28, 2009
AZ just got another run,
do you pull him now?
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
i meant one more after that
aznsensation - April 28, 2009
Time for Z
to go take a shower. He can get his cycle another night
jaxinnabox - April 28, 2009
11-3 with one out, men on 2nd and 3rd.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
Or just 2nd.
Guzman warming.
And now 2 out.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
Nice play by Miles
two outs.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
Why
is Z still pitching?
jaxinnabox - April 28, 2009
because we're up by 8
and Lou wants to rest the pen
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
he really wants to try to get that cycle i think
aznsensation - April 28, 2009
Been non-stressful innings.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
i'd like
to see him finish the game, but that’s asking a bit much.
laidbackliam - April 28, 2009
no chance of that
Too many pitches already.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
Lou's gonna give him a chance to finish the inning.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
just got to watching the game
guess i’ve missed a bevy of hits.
any of them by bradley? i’d love for him to start connecting after his little break, show everyone up.
laidbackliam - April 28, 2009
yes a single to right and a walk
lexmarklover - April 28, 2009
i'll take that
nice to see him with a hit and getting the walk as well.
laidbackliam - April 28, 2009
agreed
lexmarklover - April 28, 2009
Yep, he had one hit
A single in the fourth.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
solid knock.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
out comes Lou
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
quick chat and back in.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
and Z tells Lou
take me out, and I will have no choice but to declare this season over
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Gath
makes a catch that he made more difficult.
Three outs.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
At least he made it.
Still, that wasn’t a good jump.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
in his defense
he hardly ever plays. He’s gonna be rusty
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
End 7, 11-3 Cubs.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
Z pitch count?
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
~110
derv - April 28, 2009
111
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
maybe he took 30 less warm ups before the game
to extend his pitch count before being taken down for the pen
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
They weren't stressful pitches.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
i forgot to mention sarcas,
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
OK
that’s gotta be it. Cubs don’t need Z’s bat anymore
jaxinnabox - April 28, 2009
you've gotta save the big guy for later in the season
I hope Lou pulls him
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
he came out to chat with him before that last at-bat.
I’m assuming that means he’s done
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
Z makes it through the inning
111 pitches according to Gameday
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Hey all
cubswynn - April 28, 2009
Greetings and salutations.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
howdy
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Patton and Cotts in the 8th
alowing a save situation?
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Z would be up sixth
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Need big inning for Z to bat!
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
or he bats 3rd in the 9th
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
no chances, he's thrown to many pitches
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
I'd rather see the Shark in the bottom of the inning
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Micah's not helping the cause.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
What is it with the Arizona pitchers...
… and weird stuff on their necks?
AndrewJStone - April 28, 2009
I asked for a Cubs win on my birthday...
….looking good so far.
cubswynn - April 28, 2009
Happy birthday!
AndrewJStone - April 28, 2009
Thanks!
cubswynn - April 28, 2009

cubswynn - April 28, 2009
You say it's your birthday?
Well it’s my birthday too, yeah….
znohitter - April 28, 2009
For reals?
I bet you can’t guess what year I was born in…
cubswynn - April 28, 2009
1908?
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
Look closer at my posts...
cubswynn - April 28, 2009
Ahhhhh.......
I’m not so observant.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
happy bday

illinicubgirl - April 28, 2009
Yeah, for reals.
Happy 27th! I remember that one like it was two years ago… because it was.
znohitter - April 28, 2009
Happy birthday!
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
i never get one on mine :(
but it is in January, that might have something to do with it
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
All I ever get is snow, mine is in February.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
i never get one on mine :(
but it is in January, that might have something to do with it
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Happy B-day
Mapmaker - April 28, 2009
Solid single for Milton
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Bradley
gets another single. 2-4. :D
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
FYI today is July 37th so he got his 3rd hit
I told you so
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
what?
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
He uses the trollish calendar
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
In reference to an earlier comment...
… in which he declared the season over and claimed Bradley wouldnt’ have his third hit till July 37th, among other redic problems that probably would have been taken seriously 24 hours ago…
AndrewJStone - April 28, 2009
prior post i made
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
and , fireh im now.
was fire him now
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Bradley!
Single up the middle.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
Fonty
bounces to short. 6-4, but the 3 is not in time. Fonty safe at first, two outs.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
those little legs were moving
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
I want 4-4 from Hill
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
or 4-5
BoVandy - April 28, 2009
one of these days.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
Bummer, inning over.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
GUZER!
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
Zambrano out, Angel Guzman in.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
Not only did Z homer
He went oppo

MJMars - April 28, 2009
Nice catch by Milton in foul ground
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
he looks to be moving just fine today
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Guzman

drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
and a nasty curve
MJMars - April 28, 2009
We on WGN tomorrow?
MJMars - April 28, 2009
I believe its CSN
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Which mean Arizona announcers on XM unfortunately
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
Ok Aramis
We need your defense at third
nji232 - April 28, 2009
Liner
off Fonty’s glove. Montero to first, runner to third. Two outs.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
who is in left right now?
laidbackliam - April 28, 2009
Reed
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
thanks
and that was a giant moth on perry’s head.
laidbackliam - April 28, 2009
Reed Johnson right now, Soriano is out.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
i sold 6 jersyes, so this hs been a great game
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
where do you sell jerseys?
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
Ebay and direct
I am waiting on my business license so i can get my own site
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
any BCB discounts?
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
depends on how many jerseys
I sell them at
$55 Majestic
$80 MItchell and Ness
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Damn.
That’s a lot less than mlb.com
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
I guess that is why I dont have a $18m salary
like Bud
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
do you have a store name or just ebay account?
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
jsut started an account for tax purposes
tlcjerseys
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Yeah, well.
He’s gotta do something to justify that salary.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
Which apparently includes
Staying with the “National” game on Fox on Saturdays, even if one team is ahead by 18 runs.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
Of course.
As Al always says, it’s about television markets.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
I buy one official jersey every year.
This year it will be an away blue jersey, and I’m leaning “Johnson”…but I’m afraid that it’s such a random name it’s not immediately known by fans. Maybe Soriano would be a good investment, considering he’s with us til 2014. I’ll be buying mine from you, that is if you can ship it to Kansas.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
I too buy one jersey a year
(although sometimes it’s two)
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
can ship there happily, no prob.
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
I always balk...
…at the ~ $200 price tag. Instead, I have t-shirts.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
sales + win
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
What players do you sell?
Itchy - April 28, 2009
who are you loking for
if I dont have it in stock, I can see if I can get it and let you know when it is here.
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
Aramis is one I want
Itchy - April 28, 2009
home, road, alternate
i can get them all, he and shark are the next two i plan to order and stock for current
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
I'd be interested in
the home and road for Z and Dome.
LeSaboteur - April 28, 2009
Ok, do I email you?
Itchy - April 28, 2009
On to the ninth!
fly out to Gath.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
that is one big moth on Gerald Perry's head
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
wow
it’s still there!
illinicubgirl - April 28, 2009
Nothing like a giant moth
to start a winning streak!!
Itchy - April 28, 2009
Ted Lilly showing why he is the man
Messing around with Perry
nji232 - April 28, 2009
Tom Gordon is still alive?
goodstuff96 - April 28, 2009
I will always remember him because of the Stephen King book...
slcathena - April 28, 2009
?
?
laidbackliam - April 28, 2009
there was a book about "Tom Gordon"
King is a huge BoSox fan
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
I always loved that book.
It’s not his best work but the whole Girl stranded and the one thing she can grasp onto is her connection to baseball because of her dad thing just resonated.

slcathena - April 28, 2009
I found the pop-up version at the store once
so I bought it of course
VegasCubFan - April 28, 2009
i always wanted King to do one of those "choose your own adventure" ones
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
That would rock.
I’d buy it.
slcathena - April 28, 2009
the yog shoggoth grabs your arm.
if you shriek and faint, go to page three.
if you tear your arm off and run, go to page four.
if you die instantly, go to page five.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
lol.
I was thinking along the lines of:
You run screaming from the clown go to page 3.
You think the clown is friendly and follow him go to page 4.
The clown freaks you out a bit so you send your brother off with him, go to page 5.
slcathena - April 28, 2009
I prefer to refer to him as Flash
Itchy - April 28, 2009
ahhh-ahhhhhh!
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
Miles
rolls it up to first. one out.
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
Miles grounds out to Tracy
One out.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
Guzman also grounds out to Tracy
Two out.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
Reed grounds out.
three outs. Bottom of the ninth coming up!
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
One out!
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
Man... it gets slow in here when we are winning...
AndrewJStone - April 28, 2009
We could start posting random pictures?
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
e.g.
dtpollitt - April 28, 2009
I love that one
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
LMAO
Cubbie-Tim - April 28, 2009
How about something in line with the times?
Made me laugh earlier today.
AndrewJStone - April 28, 2009
Late game
Big lead, nothing to complain about.

Two outs!
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
11 Runs, 15 Hits, No Errors.
Can we do that some more?
slcathena - April 28, 2009
we can hope
drewishdrewid - April 28, 2009
I'm all 4 it...
….and to my anti-mantra……….levae runners on base left, right and center,,,,,just score most of’em…
leaving 14 or 15 out there when scoring 10/11 doesn’t hurt…it’s leaving 8 or 9 out tther when not scoring that does…
kcjones - April 28, 2009
And the Cubs faithful rise to their feet....

Odd question, does anyone have the awesome wavy flag that plays "Go Cubs Go"
or know how to get it back?
I really miss that.
slcathena - April 28, 2009
and I miss Northsider.
slcathena - April 28, 2009
I do too
Emelie - April 28, 2009
I'll see if I can find it.
Hang on.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
Thanks.
It’s the best after a win. :)
slcathena - April 28, 2009
It seems the flag is gone.
It says “Turn up the speakers, click the flag, and sing it loud” but the flag itself is no longer there.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
I did find a Playlist link to "Go Cubs Go,"
It’s in the link I posted just below here.
Vermont Cubs Fan - April 28, 2009
Here's a break for the Cubs,
the Astros put Valverde on the DL and Hawkins will be the fill-in closer. Looks like he will be on the DL when the Cubs go to Houston on their next road trip.
cowsarecool220 - April 28, 2009
Flag's unbollixed and flying!
Emelie - April 28, 2009
YAY!!!
And with that I’m going to bed. Need to be up in 5 hours. Yikes! West Coast is killing me!
