The mental part of the game really affects him as well. Look at his performance leading up to the All-Star Game last year, how he performed in the game, and how he did afterward.
He did this last year too, remember? The game he finally got his mojo back, he walked the first two batters on eight pitches, and then struck out the side.
One of the games in the Philadelphia series late june. I’m going to try to make it to a mid-week game when I’m in ATL for a class from 18-22 May but I don’t know if that will work out.
Things are always goofy with the Cubs and if this game winds up being the turning point of the season nothing would be goofier than a season turning on a Theriot grand slam.
that Cotts, Patton and Marmol all had very positive outings despite the 5 walks between the three of them. I was certainly encouraged by Marmol finding the strikezone again.
wow....I'm back to see we started scoring!
santoswoodenlegs - May 1, 2009
I came back to see that
Theriot had hit a grandslam . . . thought I had fallen asleep at work and was dreaming again
gwood - May 1, 2009
lets have a crazy geo pic!
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009

sue369 - May 1, 2009

BoVandy - May 1, 2009
Ronny's been kind of grouchy today.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
it's been
a grouchy game. He just wants to win and have it be over.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
here
Zeke - May 1, 2009
cmon Fonty
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I must say that the ump's strike zone has been pretty consistent and logical today.
Just sayin’
zevkalman - May 1, 2009
its amazing how shitty it feels when were scoring 10 runs every other game
heine41 - May 1, 2009
Come on Fonty....who will PH for Cotts?

ARAM!
BoVandy - May 1, 2009

BoVandy - May 1, 2009

Does anyone ever lose the Binny’s beverage depot attendance game?
Hilary Lee - May 1, 2009
yes
usually in away games.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
lol cause they arent sold out
heine41 - May 1, 2009
It can be hard to guess
on away games since they count tickets sold, not people in the stadium.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Pinto
throws to first more than he pitches.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
which is good cause hes struggling to find the zone
heine41 - May 1, 2009
Ron's gettin' upset!
daver - May 1, 2009

sanantonecub - May 1, 2009
Hey, it could randomly pop up with the blackout page like it's done to me for the past month...
Zeke - May 1, 2009
That's one benefit of being where I'm at...
0 blackouts. Not even Saturday Fox games.
sanantonecub - May 1, 2009
ARAMIS ON DECK
HOLY MOLY
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009
this has been a holy moly sorta game
Emelie - May 1, 2009
Time called
Baker goes out to talk to Pinto. They discuss how he has to throw the ball over the plate to actually record pitches.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Ronnie
getting indignant about how slow the marlin pitchers are
gwood - May 1, 2009
"You mean I can't just throw to first?"
daver - May 1, 2009
Man I hope theres no DP here
Rami on deck
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009
If fonty
If fonty gets a hit I would take ramirez back because it means if we wind up DLing him it would start tomorrow.
puckishcubsfan - May 1, 2009
I expect
Rami to be back tomorrow or sunday.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
3-2 on Fonty.

santoswoodenlegs - May 1, 2009

Sounded like a great catch by Maybin.
daver - May 1, 2009
yeah, looked like it almost could have popped out too
heine41 - May 1, 2009
glad to see
a couple of very productive outs today
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
manufacturing runs.
One might call them fundamentals.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
what a
wierd concept. I thought the goal of the game was to put the little white ball with the red stitching over the outfield fence.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
only
for scrappy shortstops.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Is that Theriots
standard one home run for the season
gwood - May 1, 2009
he had 3 two years ago i think
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
I spect.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Probably.
I actually saw him hit one once.
daver - May 1, 2009
I believe
last year’s home run was wind blown, not this one though. So maybe he’s developing some power.
gwood - May 1, 2009
Agreed
its nice to see some execution from our team.
gwood - May 1, 2009
Marlins have played some damn good defense
BoVandy - May 1, 2009
Definitely
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009
Maybin is why the Cubs couldn't trade Pie to the Marlins.
daver - May 1, 2009
Good catch but run scores
100yearitch - May 1, 2009
these guys don't let much stuff hit the ground

KaliCub - May 1, 2009
god.
he’s only been out seven days? Feels like WEEKS.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Do the Marlins have special coaches for defense or are they just young and talented?
zevkalman - May 1, 2009
Probably both
gwood - May 1, 2009
I believe Maybin was a pretty highly rated prospect.
daver - May 1, 2009
Yes. 5 tooler
TheTruth11 - May 1, 2009
and the flowers are still standing!
mrtobby - May 1, 2009

C’mon bullpen.
elgato - May 1, 2009
Cannot complain about
a three run lead.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
Happy birthday to my husband today. He’s Lou Pinella for a year (41) after being Rick Sutcliffe. I’m still Sutcliffe will become Pinella in July.
puckishcubsfan - May 1, 2009
Lou and Rick?
I thought it was Sue who lived in Iowa.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
We always pick a Cub who wears the number of our age or a great Cub and we’re them for a year.
We’re going to see Wolverine tonight for his birthday and dinner while mom babysits the 3 kiddlie tots.
puckishcubsfan - May 1, 2009

BoVandy - May 1, 2009
DON'T say it.
daver - May 1, 2009
hee hee
That’s a nice pic of him in street clothes. Where did you get that? (I know the chicken is photoshopped).
He actually is someone who is rather ordinary looking but really is hot when he smiles.
Wood was that way too.
puckishcubsfan - May 1, 2009
google is your friend.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I can't see wood, the rooster is in the way
KaliCub - May 1, 2009
i don't understand lou
why marmol right now?
lexmarklover - May 1, 2009
you want to let
Cotts pitch another inning?
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
you want to see marmol walk the park?
lexmarklover - May 1, 2009
not particularly

drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
He didn't did he?
sue369 - May 1, 2009
1/25,000th.
:p
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
he can't anyways
it would be guzman or gregg if not marmol
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
gotta save gregg for the 9th.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
that would be against the rules anyway since he was removed for a pinch hitter
BoVandy - May 1, 2009
bit of a cushion
and the 8th is supposed to be his inning
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
I guess he's trying to get Carlos back on track.
daver - May 1, 2009
This.
TheTruth11 - May 1, 2009

sanantonecub - May 1, 2009

santoswoodenlegs - May 1, 2009
Hanley swung at a walk pitch
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009

Emelie - May 1, 2009

wax eagle - May 1, 2009

marmol should be on a short leash
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Did I hallucinate... did Theriot really hit a GS?
Allie - May 1, 2009
yes and yes
LT - May 1, 2009
apparently he actually did!
Emelie - May 1, 2009
I thought it was Thursday all day
until about an hour ago when I realized it was friday… and it was a day game.
Allie - May 1, 2009

drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Batter bails out of the box as he's throwing....

carmen_fanzone - May 1, 2009

drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009

BoVandy - May 1, 2009
Ball four.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
that's why you don't bring in marmol
lexmarklover - May 1, 2009
just don't know who you think could come in.
Patton is done. Heilman can’t throw today. Gregg is needed for the 9th.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
omg what the hell is happening to this guy
lexmarklover - May 1, 2009
another walk!!! guzman up in the pen
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009

carmen_fanzone - May 1, 2009
Relax...we have a 3 run lead.
santoswoodenlegs - May 1, 2009
huh?
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
and the tieing run is at the plate
BoVandy - May 1, 2009
This is scary.
Really scary.
daver - May 1, 2009
Agreed
this is not comforting when your best reliever can’t find the strike zone at all
gwood - May 1, 2009
Ball 4 was a no doubt strike...
according to gamecast. Is that true??
kanderber - May 1, 2009
The umpire seemed to doubt it.
santoswoodenlegs - May 1, 2009
Gameday says no. all were well out of the zone
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
Take. Him. Out!
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
c'mon Carlos don't go into a slump now
Emelie - May 1, 2009
Guzman?
Freddyd - May 1, 2009

LAcarl519 - May 1, 2009

cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Also, F you Neal Cotts for...
spreading your disease to Marmol.
kanderber - May 1, 2009
oh please
carmen_fanzone - May 1, 2009
o.0
Cotts pitched well for once. Christ.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
WOW
sue369 - May 1, 2009
It was a joke...
Don’t get your panties in a knot.
kanderber - May 1, 2009
god darn it..can't belive a MLB pitcher can miss a K Zone so badly
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
may be an injury?
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
8 walks in the last inning and a third
BoVandy - May 1, 2009
1-1
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Systems engaged!!
LETS GO MARMOL!!!!!
heine41 - May 1, 2009
1-2
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
YES!
MAYBIN CAUGHT LOOKING! STRIKE THREE!
One out.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Hes locked in!
heine41 - May 1, 2009
Sit down!
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009
strikeout
elgato - May 1, 2009
Larry Rothschild doesn't know his butt from a towel drill
Marmol has to sit.
Strike out or not.
Gibbon Jockey - May 1, 2009
And he'll get it straighted out by sitting?
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
you know exactly what I mean so don't play blind man
get healthy then get back to work
Gibbon Jockey - May 1, 2009
He seems to be getting healthier on the mound.
daver - May 1, 2009
i don't know how that's possible
but if pitching one’s way out of terrible control during live games is acceptable, then great.
I don’t think it’s helpful
Gibbon Jockey - May 1, 2009
well
it worked this time, anyway.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
sure it did
but it’s failed before.
that doesn’t make the practice right.
Gibbon Jockey - May 1, 2009
I don't
disagree.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Yep, trusting Marmol sure is a bad idea.
Guess that’s why he was voted on the All-Star team last year.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
i think
he was an injury replacement. but i get what your saying
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
being an All Star
when it’s a popularity contest isn’t necessarily relevant.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
He was voted on by the players though
wasn’t he? As an injury replacement.
Allie - May 1, 2009
I though the
coach picked him
gwood - May 1, 2009
I thought
Lou just brought him.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Nope, he was next on the list, voted by the players.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
im not sure
if the players pick the IR guys or if the coaches get to choose them
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
and two years ago barry bonds set the home run record
what the past has to do with anything I don’t know
Gibbon Jockey - May 1, 2009
Oh, maybe a MLB track record?
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
And the alternative is what?
Sitting until YOU think he’s healthy?
Gotta knock the rust off sometime.
Allie - May 1, 2009
Seemed helpful this time around.
daver - May 1, 2009
Hmmmm, that outing sure was not acceptful or helpful.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
fine
you all win.
Marmol’s back
the bullpen is great.
Gibbon Jockey - May 1, 2009
acceptful?
BoVandy - May 1, 2009
I have no idea what you are talking about.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
this is just not even worth acknowledging
im just letting you know :-P
heine41 - May 1, 2009
K
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
this is on Lou, you have to have marmol on a short leash
considering the last couple of games
KaliCub - May 1, 2009
thank you for watching...
LAcarl519 - May 1, 2009

carmen_fanzone - May 1, 2009

cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Strike out!!
gwood - May 1, 2009
2 DOWN!!!
carmen_fanzone - May 1, 2009
Gotta give Marmol a couple of hitters to find it
he didnt have it and with him if he leaves without it he wont find it till he gets back again.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
agreed
The mental part of the game really affects him as well. Look at his performance leading up to the All-Star Game last year, how he performed in the game, and how he did afterward.
rgonzale - May 1, 2009
He is
a great pitcher but can be a headcase. I hope that as time goes on and he grows up he finds something to stabilize him.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
That's the only reason I fear Marmol as closer
he seems to have trouble in very tight situations at times (such as yesterday)
gwood - May 1, 2009
cant disagree there
for now if we make marmol the closer at some point i hope there is another viable option on the roster.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
C'MON MARRRMOLL!!!!
Freddyd - May 1, 2009
He's trying to Mitch Williams us...
LT - May 1, 2009
Cantu to the plate
Strike one.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009

MJMars - May 1, 2009
STRIKE THREE!!!!

drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009

lexmarklover - May 1, 2009

However, I’m a 3,500 mile plane ride away from anything acceptable :(
sanantonecub - May 1, 2009

wax eagle - May 1, 2009
White Castle is usually north of the mason dixon line

LT - May 1, 2009
Generally true.
I used to live near the line and neither one existed, but that was rural maryland
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
i sit corrected, good job marmol/lou
KaliCub - May 1, 2009
unbelieveable.
He did this last year too, remember? The game he finally got his mojo back, he walked the first two batters on eight pitches, and then struck out the side.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
remember it well
Emelie - May 1, 2009
That was a wonderful
day when Marmol got his mojo back
gwood - May 1, 2009

BoVandy - May 1, 2009
More impressive than the Theriot GS
is that fact that we’ve tacked on runs
heine41 - May 1, 2009
indeed
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
i think scoring runs was impressive for this team in its current situation
lexmarklover - May 1, 2009
weve scored 8 runs every other day since sunday
heine41 - May 1, 2009
Freakish.
daver - May 1, 2009

dont know
should be though
MJMars - May 1, 2009
don't know
email sweetlou@cubs.com
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
He should be.
Ideally, it would be Johnson in left, Gathright in center and Dome in right.
daver - May 1, 2009
Good,
best outfield defense we have.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Gathright comes in to play center.
Johnson to Right.
Gregg pitching. 8-5 Cubs.
First pitch to Uggla, strike one.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
OH MY GOD!!!
LOU HEARD ME!!!
GATHRIGHT IS IN CENTER!!!
GATHRIGHT IS IN CENTER!!!
daver - May 1, 2009
awesome
finally he is used properly
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
My heart is all a-flutter.
daver - May 1, 2009
does that get him closer or farther from the bus station?
LAcarl519 - May 1, 2009
depends on if he drops a ball
then he might as well pack a bag. useless in the field would make him fully useless
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
He's been reading BCB
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Maybe he's following me on Twitter...
…though I’ve never really mentioned that on Twitter. Damn.
daver - May 1, 2009
The thought of Lou trying to figure out Twitter makes me giggle.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Uggla
leadoff single to center.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Because of the MLB.tv delay...
This is where I leave you for hopefully the rest of the game.
Hopefully I will come back to happiness. See you later!
sanantonecub - May 1, 2009
bring truffles
back with you
sue369 - May 1, 2009
I'm getting the Gregg Flu
100yearitch - May 1, 2009

cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
It's the one where you blow a three run lead
100yearitch - May 1, 2009
yee of little faith
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Not now, please.
daver - May 1, 2009
let's do that
in December.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
pitch to Baker
strike one.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Need this Gregg save!
not only for my sanity, but for my fantasy league. Hes gone in a trade starting tomorrow, i hope he doesnt dick me over
heine41 - May 1, 2009
-1000 BCB points
for mentioning your fantasy team
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
seems a little harsh
heine41 - May 1, 2009
Seems fair to me
Carmen is right.
Allie - May 1, 2009
I'm just kidding.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Lets roll a pair boys
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
Screw UGGLA!
Bring DITKA in NOW!
The E-Man - May 1, 2009
What happened there?
TheTruth11 - May 1, 2009
Riot
threw low.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
TheRiot would look Gr8 at 2nd
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Well I suposed he's already earned his gold star for the day.
TheTruth11 - May 1, 2009
He's here for his power, not his defense.
daver - May 1, 2009
he's here for his IEPD
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Because of the GS
I’m taking a Riot bashing sabatical for he next few games.
Allie - May 1, 2009
Baker
ground ball to second. Uggla out at second, the throw is late to first. Baker safe at first. One out.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Strike one.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I've never seen a more tailor-made DP
How’d they screw it up?
Mapmaker - May 1, 2009
riot threw late and low.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
OK. Thanks
Mapmaker - May 1, 2009
the runner from first made the play difficult for theRiot
LAcarl519 - May 1, 2009
Strike two!
Helms(?) is pinch hitting.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Yeesh
It’s seems like it’s never easy to beat the Marlins, is it?
DWChaney - May 1, 2009
2-2
on Helms.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Helms
lines a single to center. Two on, one out.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
tying run at the plate
cubsnlinux - May 1, 2009
Crap
Hanley will hit next if we don’t get a DP here
Cubsfanatic - May 1, 2009
Amezega
shows bunt and takes a strike.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Gregg needs a ground ball now.
daver - May 1, 2009
he just threw one
LAcarl519 - May 1, 2009
Well, then throw another!
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
I was referring to the wild pitch :-(
LAcarl519 - May 1, 2009
Oh, well, don't throw that!
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
It's gotta hit the bat first.
daver - May 1, 2009
0-2
on Amezega.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
im not
gonna complain but that was a terrible strike call.
Lets roll a pair
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
You know...
I just don’t see how this team can realistically expect to win it all this year with such a shitty closer.
kanderber - May 1, 2009
I'll make you a bet
Gregg has as good a season this year as Kerry Wood did last year.
$20 to Project3000 for the loser.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
what criteria will you use?
Total saves? ERA?
elgato - May 1, 2009
saves
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I'll take that bet
Itchy - May 1, 2009
done.
and I’ll take it with Kanderber too, if she decides to respond.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Is she a she?
daver - May 1, 2009
I got that impression.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Wow, most female fans aren't that negative and confrontational.
daver - May 1, 2009
LOL, no. Definitely not a she.
And I’ll pass on your bet offer. Not because I’m not confident, just because I don’t make bets with random people on the internet.
kanderber - May 1, 2009
the number
is 34 saves. Gregg has to have at least 34 saves for me to win the bet. Agreed?
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
His numbers last year with the Marlins
were almost line perfect with Woody’s.
I think if we can string some good games together, he can get on a roll.
Allie - May 1, 2009
Ok, I got Woody, right? I like giving to charities anyway.
What’s the score so far?
Itchy - May 1, 2009
Woody got 34 saves last year.
Gregg has, I believe, three saves this year so far. Gregg has to match or exceed Woody’s save record. Agreed?
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Ok.
If Gregg meets or exceeds 34 saves, I give $20 to Project3000.
Itchy - May 1, 2009
If not
You give $20 to Project3000.
Itchy - May 1, 2009
done.
I call for a witness.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I'm the witness.
This is a fun bet since the winnings to to such a good cause.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
Consider it witnessed
If Gregg saves 34 or more games, Itchy owes $20 to Project3000.
If Gregg saves fewer than 34 games, Drew owes $20 to Project3000.
gwood - May 1, 2009
Ok, it's official!
Itchy - May 1, 2009
excellent.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Because it's an overrated position
and if he keeps this up, he won’t be closing.
TheTruth11 - May 1, 2009
who says he
will be the closer all season?
sue369 - May 1, 2009
wild pitch
runners advance to second and third. still 0-2, one out.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
wild pitch
men on 2nd and 3rd
MJMars - May 1, 2009
Now he needs a K.
daver - May 1, 2009
THat one caught the corner
100yearitch - May 1, 2009
not
exactly, but it was in the same spot that the previous 2 strikes had been. but they were not strikes by any measure
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
Relax...we have a 3 run lead.
santoswoodenlegs - May 1, 2009
that was strike three
elgato - May 1, 2009
2 more outs... No runs, Kevin.
Please.

Ground ball to third.
8-6 Cubs. Fonty throws to first to get the out. Helms goes to third.

drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Gregg should know how to get Hanley out.
daver - May 1, 2009
Hanley Ramirez the batter
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
0-1 on Ramirez

sue369 - May 1, 2009
did you notice
the threads change when Riot hit that grand slam?
That’s what makes us different, Sue. We’re here, win or lose.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I know Drew
They don’t stay to cheer this team only to come in and bitch. I hate that.
sue369 - May 1, 2009
I finally caught up in the threads
Massive change in tone and people posting.
Ticks me off that the people who come in to complain want no part of celebrating
chitownhawkeye - May 1, 2009
I think the key is the aren't fans, they are malcontents.
The question is, what can we do about it?
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
nuffin'
just keep on keeping on. I’m actually responding to most of them much less than I used to.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
If it gets
to be too much I can start another game thread.
sue369 - May 1, 2009
Funny how that works
I left b/c I had a late lunch/early dinner date and work. But all the doom-and-gloomers are nowhere to be found now. Figures.

heine41 - May 1, 2009
Anyone remember me?
If you do, I have Baileys Truffles for you! CUBS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sanantonecub - May 1, 2009
hey sanantone
which games in ATL are you going to?
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
For almost sure...
One of the games in the Philadelphia series late june. I’m going to try to make it to a mid-week game when I’m in ATL for a class from 18-22 May but I don’t know if that will work out.
sanantonecub - May 1, 2009
I am going to try to get down to ATL for one of the Cubs games
If you end up at the games lemmie know and Ill buy you a beer or something
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
Won't be in town for a Cubs series
Though I will be at Wrigley for the Braves series up there in early july… I have tickets to one of the games, I think monday.
sanantonecub - May 1, 2009
I'm going to be in Chicago
for the Tuesday and Wed games of that braves series!
KC in OK - May 1, 2009
my buddy!!!!
sue369 - May 1, 2009
Interesting singularity in today's
fangraph of win probability.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
how about that.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Wow, that's interesting.
I could really only look at those during games if the Cubs were winning, though.
daver - May 1, 2009
it looks pretty bleak for a while
but Theriot’s homer takes it right back the other way pretty much entirely.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
I about fell out of my chair when he hit it.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
there was a distinct
tone of disbelief in Pat’s voice as he called it.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I certainly could
not believe my eyes.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
I stared at gameday.. .convinced I wasn't seeing properly.
No f’n way.
Allie - May 1, 2009
I enjoyed my afternoon with you all
Catch you tomorrow!
mrtobby - May 1, 2009
You must come back since the Cubs won today!
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
see you then
sue369 - May 1, 2009
So, now Ryan Theriot has hit a grand slam
in his career, but Prince Fielder has not (thanks to Reed).
Baseball is a funny game, indeed.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
I really hate
that you have to pay extra to see the highlights on Gameday
gwood - May 1, 2009
Complete bull.
It was free last year.
Allie - May 1, 2009
Things are always goofy with the Cubs and if this game winds up being the turning point of the season nothing would be goofier than a season turning on a Theriot grand slam.
puckishcubsfan - May 1, 2009
This game certainly felt different from that moment on.
I was not watching, but it seemed to free up whatever was clogging up the bats.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
was nice to see
us get some insurance runs.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
I wonder if Neal Cotts may have turned the corner today.
Also, I believe that was David Patton’s first scoreless appearance (including his first MLB win).
Lots of positives about today’s game.
I do wonder what’s going on with Rich Harden. Hopefully, he can work it out.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
I think
that Cotts, Patton and Marmol all had very positive outings despite the 5 walks between the three of them. I was certainly encouraged by Marmol finding the strikezone again.
wax eagle - May 1, 2009
It's almost like a lightbulb goes on for Marmol
and he finds his release point to throw strikes.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
if Cotts can be productive
that’s a HUGE weight off the pen. Because Lou’s just gonna keep throwing him out there anyway.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
He certainly had his moments last year.
Besides, someone has to be left handed. May as well be Cotts.
D98 - May 1, 2009
Between the Bulls and the Cubs
Beteween the Bulls and the Cubs there might be a medical alert put out in Chicago for heart patients to not watch sporting events.
puckishcubsfan - May 1, 2009
The Bulls have totally shocked me with the way they've played against the Celtics.
I’ve been very impressed with the fight they’ve shown.
cowsarecool220 - May 1, 2009
even the Blackhawks game yesterday
was ulcer inducing.
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
awright!
that’s the kinda win we like! Although those GS HRs can come in the first inning, kthx.
See yawl latah!
drewishdrewid - May 1, 2009
Have a good night!
