The lefty thing makes no difference. After Z was announced, and the Pirates brought in a Righty, they are forced by rule to use him against at least 1 hitter. So if you bring in Kosuke or Fontenot, they face that righty.
then he’ll hold his hands out wide, and ask it again. I don’t think he’s got the fire to do this thing anymore. He seems content to use the bad things that have happened to this team as a cure-all excuse.
i used to live out there and never had any problems. theres a lot of long-time families there who look out for one another. i had more trouble living in lincoln park….
But he also is not the soluion. WE need Soriano, Bradley, Lee and Soto to all do far better than they have been. We also need to really revaluate this bullpen and the middle infield.

for Dome
ambrosiadreams - May 25, 2009
Ok Allie
+1 for you. Big Z is pinch hitting 2 innings later. :)

z, that is
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
I know Z is a good hitter.....
but for a pitcher, not overall…..how could Lou not bring in Kosuke or even Fontenot there, especially after Pitt committed to the righty.
ankeith15 - May 25, 2009
yeah, completely agree
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
I am wondering the same thing
razzpunk - May 25, 2009
exactly, and i even thought he was just using z
as a decoy
ambrosiadreams - May 25, 2009
Could not agree more
a poorly constructed roster does should not detract from the fact that Lou uses it poorly.
Ryanocm1 - May 25, 2009
Pitt has a plethora of lefties in their pen
AzCubfan24 - May 25, 2009
The lefty thing makes no difference. After Z was announced, and the Pirates brought in a Righty, they are forced by rule to use him against at least 1 hitter. So if you bring in Kosuke or Fontenot, they face that righty.
ankeith15 - May 25, 2009
Lou likes playing hunches only slightly less than Match Game
CaliCub - May 25, 2009
This will be the first question asked to Lou tonight, I'm sure of it.
dtpollitt - May 25, 2009

then he’ll hold his hands out wide, and ask it again. I don’t think he’s got the fire to do this thing anymore. He seems content to use the bad things that have happened to this team as a cure-all excuse.

Hilary Lee - May 25, 2009

I miss him.
Allie - May 25, 2009
I was under the impression that we'd been having fairly decent pitching performances
And the reason for our slide was 5 runs scored in 6 games.

That was my feeling too.

Not funny.
Jimmyeatworld - May 25, 2009

Would you walk around Humboldt Park alone?

I have. I would. There are good people in that neighborhood.
What about you?

Reddevil - May 25, 2009
I agree.
It makes for a nice change of pace with Cotts and others in the bullpen
cabulen - May 25, 2009
he's struggled with that
8 walks in 13 IP, I think.
Allie - May 25, 2009
9 walks in 12.1 IP
That’s throwing strikes compared to the rest of our bullpen, it isn’t throwing strikes compared with other Major League Pitchers
WanderingWanderer - May 25, 2009
i wish we'd make deal w/ COL to keep him

sue369 - May 25, 2009
+25
lee is NOT this teams problem
12to23to17 - May 25, 2009
Not the only one but certainly
.248 and 5 homeruns along with some nagging injuries is not good enough. Not even close.
Ryanocm1 - May 25, 2009
Lee's OPS in May
is over 1.000
he’s the hottest bat we’ve got right now.. maybe that’s sad, but it’s true
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
Too bad...
we need him over the whole season. A .270 BA, 18 HR, and 75 RBI is unacceptable for a Cubs 1B. Especially at $14 mil/year
mutleyil - May 25, 2009
He sure as hell ain't part...
of the solution
mutleyil - May 25, 2009
He is until
his contract runs out.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Sadly...
that only makes him a bigger part of the problem…
mutleyil - May 25, 2009
He not been a problem
the last month. Maybe you haven’t been watching?
sue369 - May 26, 2009
having to keep him doesn't make him a solution
WanderingWanderer - May 25, 2009
But he will
start at 1st base until he’s gone like it or not.
sue369 - May 26, 2009
yeah, that's def. a good sign
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
True
But he still needs to do better. Each of them could increse their average by about .50 points, excepting maybe Soriano, who is struggling.
Ryanocm1 - May 25, 2009
I'm not worried about Lee.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Because he is doing well enough for you
or because there are 20 other more pressing problems. Im in the latter camp. He needs to do better but he is not the most pressing problem.
Ryanocm1 - May 25, 2009
see above
Lee’s OPS in May is over 1.000
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
I'd take .800 for the rest of the year
CaliCub - May 25, 2009

lexmarklover - May 25, 2009
we're 4 games out

thats pretty competitive.
Allie - May 25, 2009
Besides, they couldn't do it anyway
huge, long term contracts…most of them with no trade clauses…thank you Jim Hendry
bluekoolaide - May 25, 2009
Really hope Wilken's farm starts producing soon
Then we won’t need so many NTCs.
CaliCub - May 25, 2009

lexmarklover - May 25, 2009
its gonna be ugly
but if people start to perform to their career averages, they won’t continue to play this way.
Allie - May 25, 2009
Tonight I think I officially lost the ability to cheer or RAGE at the Cubs and now feel like laughing at them....
this is eerie comedic and sad…..so why not just revel in the badness…..feels so like 2006…….
razzpunk - May 25, 2009

Great BP session by Cubs' pitchers tonight
making an incredibly average Pirates lineup look like Murderers Row.
ElHijoDelRonSanto - May 25, 2009

Geo killed Capps
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
Back of the elbow
SUNUVA
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
Shit! That happened to me once. I hate seeing that.
zevkalman - May 25, 2009
Does this guy throw anything but fastballs?
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
Yikes.
Glad Geo got on base… but thats not the price I wanted to pay.
Allie - May 25, 2009
let's have a bloop and a blast.
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
Don't kill the pitcher that'll let us back into the game!
Mike Martin - May 25, 2009
LOL
sorry.. I probably wouldn’t laugh if I could see what happened.
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
Nailed him on the pitching elbow/hand
Pat not sure
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
That sucks
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
looked like elbow
really scary.
Allie - May 25, 2009
It's better than the hand
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
marginally
still scary. that ball was smoked.
Allie - May 25, 2009
That injury reminds me...
Mark Prior sucks.
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
+1
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
it reminds you of the time
he got hurt through a freak play like that, and as a result wasn’t able to perform to your expectations?
Yeah, it reminds me of that too.
Orval Overall - May 25, 2009
I would almost say the arm problems likely started from the Giles collision even before the liner
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
totally agree
VegasCubFan - May 25, 2009
we can at least agree
the two things didn’t help his career.
Orval Overall - May 25, 2009
I'll never forgive Baker for running him back out there after that
CaliCub - May 25, 2009
lol
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
ouch
12to23to17 - May 25, 2009
OUCH......
Had to sting….
cubs north - May 25, 2009
Looked to me like
back of the elbow while the arm was fully extended downward.
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
It definitely stunned him.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Jackasses I saw cheering
Need to be taken out to the mound and shot.
Mike Martin - May 25, 2009
No nothing that harsh
just let them get hit by a pitching machine from 63 ft away at 130mph
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
I was hoping they were cheering about geo hitting the ball hard.
but its hard to give wrigley fans the benefit of the doubt lately on stuff like that.
Allie - May 25, 2009
Just like the morons who cheered when Oquendo got nailed last month
These are the Cubs “fans” who need to spend more time at US Cellular.
Mike Martin - May 25, 2009
c'mon Micah
give us a hit
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
dammit
seems like he’s gone 0-for-alot lately…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
it's because he has
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Hoff ks
Cubbiegoon - May 25, 2009
I'm glad he was up instead of DLee
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
how about you go annoy your own team's fans?
Orval Overall - May 25, 2009
really?
sue369 - May 25, 2009
No kidding...
Mike Martin - May 25, 2009
He looked bad doing it too.
zevkalman - May 25, 2009
Not dead yet!
I am Happey! I am Happey!
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
lol
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
I think I'LL GO FOR A WALK
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
ha, and it's miles!
has dome been used?
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
nope, he needs to be used here
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
I don't even wanna see what Miles is gonna do here...
cubbykevin - May 25, 2009
Can we all agree that we
at least have a MFin rally going in crunch time?!
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
miles walk off...
c’mon
12to23to17 - May 25, 2009
let's have a walkathon.
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
They owe us a couple
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
Aaron Miles up to bat. Ha ha. Ridiculous. It's the 9th inning. Last chance....
But maybe he’ll walk or surprise us.
zevkalman - May 25, 2009
2 pitches and he hasn't grounded out
i’m surprised
Allie - May 25, 2009
Took 5
Grounds out to Sanchez.
Sigh.
Allie - May 25, 2009
WALK OFF WALK OFF WALK OFF
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
Aaron Miles is batting....
cubbykevin - May 25, 2009
I forgot - did 'Dome appear at all tonight?
CaliCub - May 25, 2009
nope
sue369 - May 25, 2009
nope
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
Why the heck not?!?!?
CaliCub - May 25, 2009
Because Big Z is a better option
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
because Lou Pineilla is managing this club
WanderingWanderer - May 25, 2009
unfortunately no
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
how many LOB tonite?
12to23to17 - May 25, 2009
who cares as long as its not two more...
Orval Overall - May 25, 2009
this is ridiculous.
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
Man, got excited for a sec xD
Nooblet - May 25, 2009
Sigh.
08Cubs - May 25, 2009
I am discouraged.
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
lordy.
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
BET THERE WILL BE NO POST GAME........
Lou won’t be on the hot seat again……
cubs north - May 25, 2009
WTF
Why why Miles batting there?
cubbykevin - May 25, 2009
Instead of who?
Sweet Lou himself?
Mike Martin - May 25, 2009
Couldn't Dome have gone in?
He hadn’t appeared in the game, as I recall.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 25, 2009
Not with a Lefty pitching...
carmen_fanzone - May 25, 2009
yeah, Fuku couldn't have done any better than Miles
WanderingWanderer - May 25, 2009
that was sarcasm
WanderingWanderer - May 25, 2009
Fukudome's had 5 at bats with a lefty pitching all year...
Whether he’d have a better at bat than Miles isn’t the point. The point is, Lou won’t use him against lefties.
carmen_fanzone - May 26, 2009
WE CAN BUILD ON THIS!!
EIGHT RUNS IN ONE GAME!
dtpollitt - May 25, 2009
And 10 let in!
Worf - May 25, 2009
You are very cute.
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
I tried to find a video of Herm Edwards screaming "WE CAN BUILD ON THIS!!"
to no avail. :-(
dtpollitt - May 25, 2009
Was nice to see bats.
Hopefully they can get some confidence from this.
Allie - May 25, 2009
Sometime they will
get it all together. Hitting and scoring are a good start.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
typical Aaron Miles
cabulen - May 25, 2009
and Hendry/Lou wanted this guy because....
???
CaliCub - May 25, 2009
FIRE LOU PINELLA
cubbykevin - May 25, 2009
FOR REAL!
Mike Martin - May 25, 2009
I'd rather see Hendry go first.
Get someone that can get the right guys for Lou to work with.
ryan89 - May 25, 2009
LOU wanted those guys!!!
cubbykevin - May 25, 2009
Tomorrow. Good pitching and hitting
ON THE SAME DAY.
Doggie Stalker - May 25, 2009
That would be nice
cabulen - May 25, 2009
THAT would be fantastic.
Allie - May 25, 2009
yes puhleeeeeeeeeze
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
+100
Needed very much.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Damn, I guess we'll get 'em tomorrow :(
Gonna watch the Lakers lose now D:
Nooblet - May 25, 2009
embarrassing
18 hits allowed
ElHijoDelRonSanto - May 25, 2009
If I were at the game
I would throw something onto the field and boo until I was removed from the park.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
waste of time.
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
It would feel good.
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
No one cares
sue369 - May 25, 2009
thats a grown up response
Allie - May 25, 2009
Hell that was way better than the last 6
at least it felt like we had a chance
mrtobby - May 25, 2009
what a jokeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
lexmarklover - May 25, 2009
night
12to23to17 - May 25, 2009
night
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Miles v. Sanchez
The difference in this game.
Ryanocm1 - May 25, 2009
yeah.
zevkalman - May 25, 2009
No, Neil Cotts was the difference in this game.
carmen_fanzone - May 25, 2009
Heilman didn't help
Allie - May 25, 2009
Even though we lost, it felt good to score some runs.
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
yes it did
sue369 - May 25, 2009
It would appear a few players are starting to wake up
Theriot did well, Soto squared the ball up a couple of times too
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
Bradley had a really good game
from what I saw.
Allie - May 25, 2009
forgot him
he’s looking better too. If we could get Soriano going again, that would really help right now.
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
That was
great to see.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
and welcome to below .500
buckmulligan - May 25, 2009
The losing will end
sometime. Until then it’s gonna hurt a lot. Not much we can do about it.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
awwww..
can’t we rant and vent and turn on each other and everything to do with the Cubs?
won’t that help??
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
mmm, not so much :D
sue369 - May 25, 2009
yeah, we finally hit the ball so that is a postive there
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
Someone said yesterday
they’d feel better if we were losing games 9-7 instead of 3-1.
Gotta tell ya.. it still sucks. :-(
Allie - May 25, 2009
+1
BrewCrew'sPrinceofDarkness - May 25, 2009
Both are bad.
I’d like to win again.
Heading out … good night, everyone.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 25, 2009
'night
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
Night!
sue369 - May 25, 2009
I think maybe
it does feel a little better.. just a little though… still sucks
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
I have had utmost faith that the Cubs would make the playoffs
That faith has been tested this year. Lets hope they turn it around and turn it quick. You can lose divisions in May.
Ryanocm1 - May 25, 2009
Gonna need a healthy and productive starting nine in a hurry!!!
CaliCub - May 25, 2009
These are the times that try men's souls
… can you feel the paine??
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
He spells funny.
Reddevil - May 25, 2009
humour
:P
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
YES,
And it hurts like hell to see this continue….
cubs north - May 25, 2009
i just wish that Dempster didn't pitch the way he did. That's just terrible.
lexmarklover - May 25, 2009
yeah
that would’ve been nice.
Allie - May 25, 2009
I'm going to bed.
Night all.
sue369 - May 25, 2009
Buh-bye sue.
dtpollitt - May 25, 2009
night
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
'night, Sue
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
night!!
Allie - May 25, 2009
Two baseballs hit that popped out of players gloves and led to runs
That’s some pretty bad luck.
At least Soto had a productive game. Maybe he’s coming around
Mapmaker - May 25, 2009
yeah..
is hard not to feel like this team is just snakebit right now..
isn’t luck supposed to even out?
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
as a Cubs fan
you should know the answer to that question.
ElHijoDelRonSanto - May 25, 2009
well yeah
I fully expect the Cubs to enjoy 100 years of playoff success starting this season… :)
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
Forget 100
I’d love just one where we win 11.
Allie - May 25, 2009
Our team hasn't gotten to teh championship in 60 years
Allie - May 25, 2009
night all
gonna go drink a few beers and ponder this one…
We break the streak tomorrow!!
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
enjoy the beers
… but I recommend not pondering too much… :)
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
will do, take it easy Canberra
Can’t imagine what it’s like tonight for the players
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
I guess I'm out too
Hope tomorrow goes better.
Allie - May 25, 2009
'night
offense has improved over last few games…
Maybe that will encourage the rotation to go back to kicking arse the way they have been through most of the losing streak…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
night
SotoRiot - May 25, 2009
Dempster
is at least manning up and taking the blame. Great guy. Pity he had a night like this when we finally put up some crooked numbers…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
Dempster
Are u watching him on postgame on CSN Chicago, or somewhere on the internet?
ankeith15 - May 25, 2009
heard him
giving a brief post-game interview on WGN (as heard via MLB gameday audio)
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 25, 2009
I'm a Gatorade vending machine repair man.
Will someone from the Cubs be home tomorrow between 8 & 11am?

Cubbinstrongsince86 - May 26, 2009
