Members of the Chicago Blackhawks appear before Saturday's game at Wrigley Field
Dozens of ring-billed gulls invade Wrigley Field late in Saturday's game... looking for dinner. "What are all these people doing here? It's our feeding time!"

GO CUBS GO
Great pictures!!

great photos. great game.
all those birds made me think of the Hitchcock classic movie. I expected those birds to start pecking away at Heilman if that 9th inning didn’t finish up soon. Those birds were hungry and wanted the players and fans out of there!!

Interesting viewpoint.
I’m sure you’re right.

I remember reading, long ago...
…somewhere online, a story of a quite involved prank.
The prankster found a local high school football field, and made a point of walking around every afternoon, for the entire summer, scattering bird seed while wearing a black and white striped shirt and blowing a whistle.
Needless to say, the first football game of the fall season was rather interesting…

Oh, if only there were photos.

Are the birds scared
away by the lights of a night game? Wouldn’t they assemble at 6pm before a night looking for food only to realize that it’s too early? Do they have pocket schedules?
Do road trips force them elsewhere? Do they then head to Navy Pier?? The Bean??

I have never seen those birds during a night game.
I suspect you might be right about the lights.

Birds. What a bunch of freakin' ledge jumpers they are.
zevkalman - May 31, 2009
Besides, don't they have their own stadium down in St. Louis?

Out of Town Baseball scores & Info
KERRY WOOD PICKS UP WIN FOR INDIANS OVER YANKEES . Kind of a typical scary Kerry outing ( a walk , a hit etc ) but it worked. White Sox have scored three earned runs of Greinke ( game is tied) . I think his ERA doubled.
Brewers lead Reds 5-2 in the 6th

GO SOX GO!
Sox finish the road trip going 5-1 and sweep division rivals the Royals! AND they beat this seasons best pitcher today!
INDEED AL! As much as many here were tramping the dirt down on the Sox, they’ve moved into 2nd place, 4 games out. I know Al was talking about the Cubs but for the Sox ‘the season is not over’ either!
Tomorrow starts a month where I hope to be able to sing, GO CUBS GO on June 12-14 & June 19-25.

nice to see
juan cruz return to form
tim815 - May 31, 2009
The Royals have lost 17 of 22.
Sweeping them doesn’t seem to be that big a deal right now.
Al Yellon - June 1, 2009
How about yesterday...
… scoring 4 runs against the best pitcher in MLB? I’m sure you’d downplay that if it were the Cubs who’d done that.
DrCrawdad - June 1, 2009
That's a very cool photo of the birds!

I'm a Red Wings fan, I'd give my left you-know-what for one of those Blackhawks jerseys!
One of, if not the best looking hockey jersey ever! Sooooo glad the Hawks are back. Great for hockey and great for the Detroit-Chicago rivalry. Next year the Blackhawks are gonna be even better and challenge the Wings chokehold on the conference…
