Lou Pinella is a terrible manager. It’s a joke he’s still around. He makes the wrong decisions at all the wrong times. Alan Trammel would do better with this club.
He has NO CLUE how to manage a bullpen. He constantly overuses pitchers and exiles others to Siberia ( well Ok Philadelphia
Cleveland , Seattle and the dog house), His managing consists of telling pitchers to "throw strikes’ . Yep that will do the trick.
and as screwed up as he was yesterday Heilman probably should have been the guy. He is not like Cotts, he has good outings and tends to bounce back from bad ones.
Most famous was when the Cubs were at Shea playing the Mets during the famous East Coast blackout. Players had to drive their cars on the field to provide lights for people to leave the park. It has happened is less extreme circumstances as well
kinda entertaining in a sick, twisted way……..why could this have not happened when the Brewers were throttling our bullpen around….the least we could have done is snuck Patton off the mound in the dark and replace him with a major league pitcher!
and people always ask why i don’t root for the Brewers. I tell them, I don’t root for minor league teams. This outage just proives…minor league stadium.
Still, so many live just to bitch about the Cubs. I like the Heckler headline – something like, “10 pro-Brewer, 10,000 anti-Cub shirts worn by fans in Milwaukee”. It’s not far off.
even though I lived in DC for half a year. I’ve heard it’s adequate…though not in a great part of town, right? (though granted that would apply to most of DC…)
Neighborhood isn’t really that bad…a lot of construction. They’re trying to yuppiefy the area. I walk from Capitol South station to get there, which is five blocks or so and have never had any issues.
Would be sweet for Bradley to step up and take on the RBI duties.....
and I see Hoff sharing time with DLee…….even if we don’t win this rally at least gives our offense some hope…….something to smile about…..that and hopefully plunking Braun…
might turn the lights on in the bullpen, and spark the team to drink some Amp, and end this current inning before anyone here deems that he needs to pull the plug on this season
to go lay in bed and watch the Hawks. Hopefully they can win tonight. Not sure I’ll be in the game threads tomorrow since it’s Mothers Day. Take care all.
starting to think about whom
we will see in relief. heilman? samardzija?

Sounds like he deserves it.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
The double clutching will result in 11 balks before he records an out.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
did it again today
Emelie - May 9, 2009
He will record an out ?
That might be better than his fielding today.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
Well... at least I got my stereo hooked up today... that'll take the edge off
Emelie - May 9, 2009
Tough one to swallow tonight
Gotta go get them tomorrow

DC Cubbie - May 9, 2009

brian custer - May 9, 2009
It already has.

Allie - May 9, 2009

Allie - May 9, 2009
at least he hasn't complained that he didn't start tonight
that’s a step in the right direction
BoVandy - May 9, 2009
Cincy and Milwaukee are charging to the top suddenly.....
this could be a very wacky division if STL cools off….hope we can tread water til ARam returns….
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
Weeks rbi basehit to center. 8-2.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
make the pain go away!
Emelie - May 9, 2009
Patton does not belong in the majors
I think he has the pics of Lou or something
DC Cubbie - May 9, 2009
no kidding. has he had a good outing yet?
buckmulligan - May 9, 2009
This one is pretty good....
for the Brewers.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
time to end the Patton experiment
can we trade him to Balt, since he was a rule five draft, I was not sure
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
yes.
he pitched two innings last week or the week before, with no runs scoring.
Patton is Rule 5, so he can’t just be traded.
drewishdrewid - May 9, 2009
actually, he could be traded, if we offered him back to his former team, and they said no
BoVandy - May 9, 2009
General Patton
needs to call up armor
brian custer - May 9, 2009
Armor can't help him if he keeps having outings like these.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Get all of those runs out of your system, Suds...
Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
they score runs every night
louslovechild - May 9, 2009
all that cheese gives them lots of runs...
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
Our bullpen seems to have some....uhhhh....issues
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
Now they just need some ML pitcher and they'll be all set.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Oh thats whats missing!
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
nothing talent cant cure
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009

Wild Pitch scores another run. 9-2
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
this is one of the worst games in a loooong time
Emelie - May 9, 2009
the blowouts are easy for me to watch....the close ones are worse.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
true
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
yeah.... well, yeah....
Emelie - May 9, 2009
eh
watching the wheels fall off isn’t easy.
and thats what this feels like.
Allie - May 9, 2009
exactly. faith isn't there.
Emelie - May 9, 2009
Agreed
sue369 - May 9, 2009
Yup
Empty the bench, drink a beer, and relax.
Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
might as well
maybe the bench comes back, the starters seem out of it
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
our seventh inning failure was huge in my opinion
and not just for this game. i foresee a slide back to below .500, then some hovering.
buckmulligan - May 9, 2009
It only will get better. Go Cubs….
sonics250 - May 9, 2009
I'm sorry but Sweet Lou needs to take a bat upside the heads of some of these blowpen clowns!
My gosh….they simply cannot do the job on a consistent basis…..
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
First he overuses the bullpen,
Then he leaves the starters in too long. He needs to take the starters out at a better time.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
I've always felt that way too
Emelie - May 9, 2009
This has been especially bad this year.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
but its only may 9
sarcasm
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
we only need 7 boys
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009

Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
yes. yes, I am.
Emelie - May 9, 2009
Is that Bolero I hear in the background?
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
well, the 25 men we havent
are not able to make it happen
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Ground out to 3rd....Scales make a great play. Inning over.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Ok! Rally Time!
I believe. I really do…
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Clapping my hands
for Tinkerbell.. oh yeah, and the Cubs…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
Patton cant go anywhere but to another team
Soto however may need a trip to Des Moines
louslovechild - May 9, 2009
Patton can become part of a historic trade
bringing a certain 2B here?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
YAY! an out
zack54attack - May 9, 2009
Looking up from the fetal position..
Is that inning really finally over???
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
Yes, finally, it is.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
the 8th
has to be better…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
Okay ... it's going to be a DRAMATIC comeback then.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
GOTTA COME VERY CLOSE....
To one of the worst bull pens melt down in the history of the club…..
cubs north - May 9, 2009
Dave Smith and Mel Rojas would like to have a word with you...
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
LaTroy Hawkins says hello
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
hey - we'll see him next week at Wrigley!
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
Maybe, but last night was pretty close.
sonics250 - May 9, 2009
Just watching now to see if they PLUNK Braun's googly eyed face
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
I hope anyone who goes tomorrow
Gets to see a better game.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Is tomorrow's game televised?
Emelie - May 9, 2009
WGN, 1:05 if you're in Chicago.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
just about church time here... I'll be in the thread toward the end
Emelie - May 9, 2009
they almost have to, right?
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
Rally Caps?
zack54attack - May 9, 2009
more like rally wardrobes...
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
could it be the playoff beard i have
is bad luck for the Cubs?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
that and go manscape too
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
Fonty walks!
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Scales K's one out.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Cant we put DeRosa at third?
O wait.
zack54attack - May 9, 2009
I Freel ya
Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
oh..
painful…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
TWS...
Waitasecond…
Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
If we don't score this inning...
I’ll have to leave and make cupcakes for Mother’s Day with my daughters.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Ex Cubs update (Bullpen edition)
Wood, Eyre, & Aardsma all pitch scoreless innings tonight.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
When will Freel get back from his hammy problem?
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
Miles goundball and they force fonty @ 2nd.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
2 out.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
I used to find...
Milwaukee’s inferiority complex over the Cubs to be amusing. Now I’m just getting tired of the whole Brewer schtick.
Ugh. It’s getting really old playing like crap against them…
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
They are bandwagoners
when the going gets rough, they get quiet.
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
Except when we swept them in 4 games at Mil last year....that was awesome!
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
last year
was awesome…
then october happened.
Allie - May 9, 2009
Soriano broken bat basehit to left. Miles to 3rd.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Alright..
Now let’s get a basehit and score a friggen run.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Riot power!
Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
Thanks for hitting NOW Sori
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
WTF was up with Braun staring at Dempster after he hit that HR?
God I hate that guy.
kanderber - May 9, 2009
He is a douche
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
+1
lexmarklover - May 9, 2009
douchebaggery
at its slimyest
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
He's a good player.
But his smugness is starting to get under my skin.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Starting to?
You must be a lot more tolerant that I am.
kanderber - May 9, 2009
I try and practice zen...
I figure if I let him get to me, it just means he wins. :)
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Face it...Dempster is a good looking guy.
I’ll admit I stare at him.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
He's saying, Look! I hit a home run!
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
I'm going to be honest right now.
Lou Pinella is a terrible manager. It’s a joke he’s still around. He makes the wrong decisions at all the wrong times. Alan Trammel would do better with this club.
lexmarklover - May 9, 2009
It's not Lou's fault that his bullpen sucks.
kanderber - May 9, 2009
It's his fault that he banished Eyre and Wuertz, though
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
Fair enough.
Gaudin too.
kanderber - May 9, 2009
Gaudin sucked this year
Allie - May 9, 2009
In Spring Training?
Who cares?
kanderber - May 10, 2009
And kept trotting Howry out there at the wrong times.
Goodie1969 - May 9, 2009
lou can't use a bullpen properly though
lexmarklover - May 9, 2009
well...he's our manager...so you'd better get busy ignoring it or find a way to deal.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
i think i'm going to have to deal with it obviously
there’s not really another choice.
lexmarklover - May 9, 2009
or call Hendry
and ask to replace him yourself
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
To a large degree it is.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
Pavlov strikes again...
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
Just a couple more runs and there we go...
sonics250 - May 9, 2009
Alan Trammel
would make guys hit, throw strikes, and field?
all just by being the boss?
god. why did i never think of that!
Allie - May 9, 2009
haha good one.
I’m sure Alan wouldn’t let Dempster pitch the 7th even though he’s thrown 111 pitches.
lexmarklover - May 9, 2009
Theriot gets hit. bases loaded!
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
AUGH!
Riot better not be hurt
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
are you kidding?
Allie - May 9, 2009
we dont have enough scrappy to replace him
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
sure feels like we have enough crap to go around
Allie - May 9, 2009
No one does, my friend
No one does…

Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009

Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
Well, I’m back.
This is not good. Ouch.
drewishdrewid - May 9, 2009

cozmotaylor123 - May 9, 2009
They hit Scrappy!?!?! We gotta smack Braun....baseball rules dictate it!
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
One of yours goes to the hospital...
one of theirs goes to the morgue!
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
Good Evening All
I take it nobody has any good news for me?
AzCubfan24 - May 9, 2009
none whatsoever
Emelie - May 9, 2009
Crap, i was afraid of that.
AzCubfan24 - May 9, 2009
cards lost
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
I'm not giving up, but
I’d rather the Cardinals won than the Brewers
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
i'd rather we looked
alive.
i know you always seem dead when you’re losing… but damn.
Allie - May 9, 2009
I mean the division
Again, not giving up yet, but if the Cubs don’t win it, I’d pick the Cards next
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
if the cards win
they’ll react with class for the most part… the brewers? i’m really not so sure about.
Allie - May 9, 2009
Indeed
I thought it would be better with Yost gone, but . . . not so much
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
game's not over- go cubs we ahve some fight left
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
Again,not giving up
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
Thank-you Cards...
sonics250 - May 9, 2009
I had fried rice and spam! And a Wild Pitch scores a RUN! 9-3!
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
they just cut the lead to 6..
does that count as good news??
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
i bought two new pairs of shorts today
they were on sale, so that seemed good
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009

AzCubfan24 - May 9, 2009
Is Theriot hurt??
zack54attack - May 9, 2009

cubs north - May 9, 2009
Yes!
One run in. The games now in the bag.
Suck it, Milwaukee.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Thanks Brewers
Lord knows we need it.
Goodie1969 - May 9, 2009

9-5 COME ON CUBS!!!!!
sue369 - May 9, 2009

drewishdrewid - May 9, 2009

Emelie - May 9, 2009
TWSS
Too often…
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
That would be awesome...

Come on, keep the hits coming!
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Turn around those rally caps!
Dome got robbed of an RBI…
Clutch16 - May 9, 2009
Now how frustrating is it that Lou left in Demp
at 111 pitches ?
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
It's in the past...let it go.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
yeah its 15 minutes ago, we shouldn't talk about it
DC Cubbie - May 9, 2009
Very....except someone from the pen could have blown it just as easily.....
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
Yeah, not like they did anything
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
Except two guys should have been fully warmed up
and as screwed up as he was yesterday Heilman probably should have been the guy. He is not like Cotts, he has good outings and tends to bounce back from bad ones.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
I'm not vehemently disagreeing with your point
But the bigger problem was not scoring in the 2nd or the 7th
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
an if anyone questions him on it, he will just yell and that will the end of it
DC Cubbie - May 9, 2009
Except he will do it again and again
But it will be mostly Marmol till his arm falls off
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
next time we win
will it be bacause Lou made a good line up and did a good job managing the team, or strictyly cuz of the players hitting that day.
a team never wins cuz of the coach, but loses cuz of it (so the media and fans say often if you base it on their comments)
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
brown out in Milwaukee?
Emelie - May 9, 2009
Lights on in Racine
I’m sure I’m on a different grid, though!
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
and now the lights go out.
Alright. Laura and I are going to watch something on the DVR. Go Cubs!
drewishdrewid - May 9, 2009
Noooo
The last time you left, the brewers scored 6!!
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
yeah
but, this is taking too long, and I wish to make my wife happy on the night before mother’s day.
drewishdrewid - May 9, 2009
one Max isnt enough?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Max
isn’t hers, she’s his step mom.
drewishdrewid - May 9, 2009
i wasnt aware, sorry....
proceed good man :=)
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
hee!
Emelie - May 9, 2009

at least we see where your priorities lie now… hmph! :)
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
he is trying to help the future Cubs bullpen

Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Oh yes
Most famous was when the Cubs were at Shea playing the Mets during the famous East Coast blackout. Players had to drive their cars on the field to provide lights for people to leave the park. It has happened is less extreme circumstances as well
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
How old is Miller Park?

Wrigley Field…our lights stay on!

Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
The Cubs Bizzaro season continues.......
kinda entertaining in a sick, twisted way……..why could this have not happened when the Brewers were throttling our bullpen around….the least we could have done is snuck Patton off the mound in the dark and replace him with a major league pitcher!
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
I guess Coffey

Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
before this
i’d never heard anything bad about miller park itself. i thought it was a nice park?
Allie - May 9, 2009
It is nice
Ever made it to a game there?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
nope
i’ve only been to one major league game. and we didn’t get there til the 4th inning. so it only sorta counts.
Allie - May 9, 2009
I sat in the front row of the loge
At this game in June 2007. Best seats I’ve ever had at a game.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
we were in standing room
it was.. kinda cool b/c none of us had ever been to wrigley before.
but we were so late and stressed out it really wasn’t worth it.
someday i’ll get to go again, maybe.
Allie - May 9, 2009
except for the fans...
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
+1
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
Agree.
The game I went to there was in June 2007, before the Brewers became as cocky as they are now.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Yeah...
and I was up there when it was always a Cub-majority crowd for these games.
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
In the game I link to above
Cubs fans had about a 55-45 edge, I’d say. It helped they scored five early runs to take the Brewers fans out of the game.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
I also agree
Since the Brewers have improved, some of their fans’ mouths have gotten louder.
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
That's why I was really hoping they'd suck this year
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
They may yet.
That pitching staff can’t continue to perform like it has
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
It's sad that I feel that way
I’m not proud of it.
I have very good friends that are Brewer fans.
Still, so many live just to bitch about the Cubs. I like the Heckler headline – something like, “10 pro-Brewer, 10,000 anti-Cub shirts worn by fans in Milwaukee”. It’s not far off.
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
Exactly
my feelings.
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
It is very nice
sue369 - May 9, 2009
I actually do rather like it...
Far better than Nats Park or Citizens Bank, but not as nice as PNC.
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
I never made it to the Nats park....
even though I lived in DC for half a year. I’ve heard it’s adequate…though not in a great part of town, right? (though granted that would apply to most of DC…)
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
It's bland and expensive.
Neighborhood isn’t really that bad…a lot of construction. They’re trying to yuppiefy the area. I walk from Capitol South station to get there, which is five blocks or so and have never had any issues.
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
I agree
Nat & Bank are not very good. PNC is beautiful. Nicest new park of them all.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
Houston is great to catch a game at
I have yet to have a bad view of the game from anywhere
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Have you been to GABP in Cincinnati?
I have relatives in Milwaukee and Pittsburgh, so I can talk to them about going to games there. But what is the park in Cincinnati like?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
i have not heard anything bad about it
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Yeah, I've been thinking of going to a game there.
But I don’t have any connections in Cincinnati.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
it's ok
They do have kind of a bush league operation, though
Out of town scoreboard wrong sometimes, they have the Brewers on there sometimes . . . roof used to leak…

Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
true
it does make Lone Star seem classy
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
almost as bad as cold old style
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
he got as much time as he needed..
that happens when the previous pitcher is injured.
carmen_fanzone - May 9, 2009
well
its been about 20 secs since a cub got hurt.
can’t let that go on too long.
Allie - May 9, 2009
Yes, last nights prize winner is comming in...
sonics250 - May 9, 2009
We might as well just walk Fielder...
So we can double him up.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Shouldn't be that hard to do.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Heilman just did.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
I bet Brian
is a happy boy right now…his man crush is in.
sue369 - May 9, 2009
i was just thinking that
really weird. he must be heilman’s mom or something…
Allie - May 9, 2009
almost has to be
sue369 - May 9, 2009
OT HAwks
0-0 13 min left in the first
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Heilman walks Hardy to load the bases....
the bullpen is bad.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
We might have had a chance
If the blowpen hadn’t done everything they could to throw this game.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Hey, Lou
(in the press conference)
Q: What did it sound like when Chad Fox hurt his elbow again?
A: It sounded like the other shoe dropping.
cubzfan - May 9, 2009
Hmm...
Ok. Well, clearly we’re going for the force out at the plate. A bold strategy. Unconventional even.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Worked for the Brewers last night.
Of course, we’re not playing ourselves.
Goodie1969 - May 9, 2009
Fox & Heilman
2 strikes, 11 balls so far.
jaxinnabox - May 9, 2009
On the bright side...
Bradley’s gotten on base 4 times tonight.
If nothing else good comes out of this game, at least he’s stepped up with Aram out.
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
that certainly
is a positive
sue369 - May 9, 2009
STRIKE!
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
woohoo!
Allie - May 9, 2009
Finally!
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Um can Stevens get on plane FAST
Hell I will take Kevin Hart at this point.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
kevin hart still can't throw strikes
wonder if that screwball japanese girl pitcher is still available… she couldn’t be worse.
Allie - May 9, 2009
And she's hot, too
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
Oh, wait, the model is
I haven’t seen the actual pitcher
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
screwball Japanese girl pitcher would fit well with this circus of a team
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
if the wheels are going to fall off
lets at least fall apart some place scenic.
Allie - May 9, 2009
No kidding I just checked the Iowa stats
Make it Stevens and Wadell. They have the best numbers for relievers.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
good strategy clog those bases with brewers
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
Ah Ronnie..
“Ok. How ’bout a 1-2-3” Then under his breath “I’m dreaming.”
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
This is the Laugh-a-lympics of bullpens right now.......
cannot wait to hear Sweet Lou’s comments when asked about their performance…..
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
They cost us this game.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
I think we just need him to go Postal...
and scare the bejesus out of the team.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
RISP BB
our two biggest foes this season
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
I may just have to walk away from this gamethread everyone...wife is at the movies with her friends and I've got 2 kids to get to bed.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
rather cheeky of you, SWL...
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
night Chad
sue369 - May 9, 2009
night
Allie - May 9, 2009
Heilman contiues the comedy and walk Hart to force in a run.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
10-6
Four. Straight. Walks.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Two days in a row
and Heilman can’t throw a strike to a guy who is 6-6! Why did the Mets ever want to get rid of this guy!
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
Do we have anyone available to pitch?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
As in anyone who can actually throw strikes?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
we need to stop paying the bullpen by the pitch
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
I think this will really make Lou Flip out major
In the locker room
zack54attack - May 9, 2009
How can Lou let this guy keep on pitching?
This is so pathetic it is almost funny.
zevkalman - May 9, 2009
lack of options?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Seriously?
What’s the record for pitchers sent down in one day?
Villeslgr - May 9, 2009
didn't the nationals just about replae their whole bullpen this year in 2 days?
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
I wonder in the annals of baseball history...
If a coach has ever walked up to a pitcher on the mound….and socked him in the face. And then immediately returned to the dugout.
I could see that being cathartic.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
I'd kind of like to see that...
And I don’t think I’m the only one.
Molechaser - May 9, 2009
anyone else starting to wish the lights had stayed broken?
Allie - May 9, 2009
I think Fox was trying to hit a light with that pitch.
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
raises hand...me
sue369 - May 9, 2009
Now I know what it feels like
to be a Mets fan in September.
Goodie1969 - May 9, 2009
rather like being a cubs fan.... ever.
Allie - May 9, 2009
Chad Fox is done Len.
Put a fork in him.
sue369 - May 9, 2009
Seriously......this is re-fracking-diculous......can any of these morons get the job done?
Lou need to go puch Hendry in the nads….
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
think of it this way
we scored 4 in the 8th, we can do it again in the 9th
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
need 5 now...so far
carmen_fanzone - May 9, 2009
won't be enough now.. :(
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
But now we need 5
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
you're in charge of keeping the faith
i have none left tonight.
Allie - May 9, 2009
a Lou tirade
might turn the lights on in the bullpen, and spark the team to drink some Amp, and end this current inning before anyone here deems that he needs to pull the plug on this season
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
i'm not making any determinations on the season
but really. i have nothin left today.
in fact. i actually feel like crying. this is horrible.
Allie - May 9, 2009
i had no other way to use plug in that
and wanted as many electrical references i could
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
sorry - that's George's job
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
lol
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
Chris Duffy, basehit....11-6
at least he didn’t walk him.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
i have never seen sucking be so recockulous
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
TWHS
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Okay, Heilman finally throws strikes
And gives up an RBI single. Stop me if you’ve seen this before….
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Well, truthfullly...
I’d rather have him throw every pitch down the middle of the plate than walk guys. At least you give your defense a chance with the former…
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Agreed.
But I’d rather see him make three outs, any way he can.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
We're still gonna win.
No worries.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
I like you.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
You just made
my heart flutter. :D
sue369 - May 9, 2009
Can I please
have some of whatever you’re drinking? :)
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
+12
we can do it, we can do it all night long
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
TWSS
sue369 - May 9, 2009
after this inning we might need 12 runs just to tie
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
we will score 12
just to allow the pen a chance to walk more without losing it
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Heilman is not that bad
He has been effective in the vast majority of his outings but he was put in a pretty ugly situation.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
and promptly walked the first two batter forcing in a run.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
This often happens when you rush somebody in
He should have been warmed up and STARTED the inning.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
kinda defeats the purpose of being a "reliever", no?
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
depends
maybe being piss poor is teh right relief
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Jessica, you get as much time as you want after an injury
This game is on the players.
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
will this be the first time we scored 6 and lost?
louslovechild - May 9, 2009
Only if we lose
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
that's the spirit
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
Are you 0 - 4?
Need a hit?
Call the Cubs bullpen.
Don’t like to swing the bat?
Don’t worry we do walks too.
Too many men on your bases?
Try a wild pitch.
Villeslgr - May 9, 2009
Kendall Sac Fly for an OUT!!!!!! AN OUTTTTTT!!!!!
12-6
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Could this be the worst Bullpen in Cubs history?
zack54attack - May 9, 2009
What's the bullpen's collective ERA?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
9381.9
that might be low.
don’t ask their whip. you erally don’t want to know.
Allie - May 9, 2009
bullwhip
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
wonder if that would improve performance
get those men some extenze
Allie - May 9, 2009
Wiagra
it helps you walk more?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Isn’t that what got Manny in trouble?
Villeslgr - May 9, 2009
Really?
I thought it was a lot higher than that.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
It's the worst so far this year.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
That's a long history
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
We actually got an out?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
What's an out?
zevkalman - May 9, 2009
Ha.
That made me laugh.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
A very rare thing for our bullpen to get apparently.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
I don't know, sorry.
I seem to have forgotten the concept.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
the electric in Milwaukee
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
How very true.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
A STRIKEOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
there will be 4 guys in this bullpen now that will be there in a month
louslovechild - May 9, 2009
We hope. I'm worried that they'll keep Heilman, and put Chad Fox on the DL--and then bring him back.
zevkalman - May 9, 2009
or move Fox to the 5th starter spot
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Because there are so many relievers available
either from Iowa or through trade.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
Ridiculous Inning over....
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
is it horrible
that i kind of like her shoes?
Allie - May 9, 2009
I was thinking the
same about his
Flag Up - May 9, 2009
haha
Allie - May 9, 2009
Lil
whiteout over the hearts FTW
Flag Up - May 9, 2009
somehow I feel less patriotic now
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
OMG
ROFLMAO!
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
Luckily...
The bottom of our order is up, meaning that once they get on the heart of our order will be up to drive them in…
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Soto leadoff single to left!
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
I guess the bullpen wanted to make sure we didn't have to face Hoffman
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
Basehit Geo!
Two innings too late!
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
We think alike!
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
+waaaa
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
timing is everything
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
TWSS
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
TWSS
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
OT hawks
0-0 5 left in 1st
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Look on the bright side
We only gave up 3 of the 4 runs we got in the 8th so there is some progress.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
Fonty GIDP. 4-6-2.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Ok Bobby Scales.
6 run homer time!
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
i'm not even surprised.
Allie - May 9, 2009
2 out rally time
oh nevermind…GO HAWKS!
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Scales batting.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
with our love of injured arms in the pen
thoughts of asking Ben Sheets how he feels?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
we also should inquire with the yankees about that Wang guy.
His 34.50 era would fit right in.
KaliCub - May 9, 2009
I'd honestly take him over some of the other arms we've got.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
thats what i am thinking too
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Is he still a free agent?
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
yes
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
We need to have Ted Lilly go into the bullpen and make with the pain!
razzpunk - May 9, 2009
Byfuglien makes it 1-0 Hawks
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
Buffy
hell yeah!
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
What channel are you watching it on?
zevkalman - May 9, 2009
Vs. but it's the CSN feed
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
I live in Bethesda -- I figured you might be watching it on a local NoVa station...
zevkalman - May 9, 2009
Yeah, I have it on Channel 44
zevkalman - May 9, 2009
Versus
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
CSN+
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
can he hit clean up or play 3rd?
Allie - May 9, 2009
I play 3rd. Made a nice play on Monday
Of course, that’s slow-pitch softball.
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
pitch in relief?
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Based on my family...
in Canada, lots of hockey/baseball players. Might be worth exploring.
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
listening to Ron
try to read his name off the sheet would be worth it.
Allie - May 9, 2009
Demp/Harden
Buffy fits in fine
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
YAY!!!
sue369 - May 9, 2009
Scales basehit.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Scales me boy!
Raise that average.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009
Reed Johnson batting.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
And he lines out to end a game our bullpen blew (again)
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
gotta score some runs early when you the chance
everyone sucked this game.
Allie - May 9, 2009
6 should win it
need to not give up runs like that
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Yep. Cubs should have had 6 by the bottom of the 7th
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
Yes, we do.
The Cubs did that in my only game in Milwaukee, but not tonight.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Johnson lines out to a sliding Braun. Game Over.
santoswoodenlegs - May 9, 2009
Well...
tomorrow then.
Night all.
CubsWin!Oregon - May 9, 2009

sue369 - May 9, 2009

sue369 - May 9, 2009

KaliCub - May 9, 2009
Time for the Hawks to make this evening better
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Well, it was real and it was fun
but it wasn’t real fun. Peace out all. Let’s get ’em tomorrow.
mondello58 - May 9, 2009
Ugh...
I’ll be in Bmore tomorrow, date on the off night Monday, dinner plans Tuesday…so I guess I’ll see you all Wednesday.
Chris Dobbertean - May 9, 2009
See you then!
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009

Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009

Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
Stop following me around
Villeslgr - May 9, 2009
that's just sad
sue369 - May 9, 2009
Now that's what I call playing the Blues...
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
Alas I don't drink ( much)
Going out for some very fattening desert.
Doggie Stalker - May 9, 2009
Van scores
ties game 1-1 206 left in 1st
Cubbie-Tim - May 9, 2009
I hope the Hawks win
So it’s not a total loss for us.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
final score 12-6
Well, if ever there was a game that deserved no extra points, this was it….
ballhawk - May 9, 2009
All right, I'm off too.
Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow for everyone.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
I'm going
to go lay in bed and watch the Hawks. Hopefully they can win tonight. Not sure I’ll be in the game threads tomorrow since it’s Mothers Day. Take care all.
sue369 - May 9, 2009
later everyone
KaliCub - May 9, 2009

Allie - May 9, 2009
I'll be at the game
Not sure I want to be
Shanghai Badger - May 9, 2009
We used to have a golden too
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
So my only question is....
…do I put Aramis on the DL in MLB 09: The Show to continue to match the real Cubs? So far we’re 18-8…
LeSaboteur - May 9, 2009
what's start time tomorrow?
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
13:05 in Chicago
Not sure what the time difference is between Chicago and Canberra.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
figured would be a day game..
that’s 4:05am here in canberra..
guess I’ll be a late arrival if I make the gamethreads at all..
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
Sundays here usually have only one night game.
The only time there’s more than one is if there is a double-header.
Vermont Cubs Fan - May 9, 2009
Canberra
is 15 hours ahead of Chicago…
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
1305 CST
LeSaboteur - May 9, 2009
I missed the beginning of the game, why was Freel said to be in the starting lineup
but then didn’t play? Please tell me he didn’t hurt himself already
BoVandy - May 9, 2009
I don't now much...
but was something about a tight hammy before the game..
great, eh?
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
i dunno now much bout spellin neither
CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) - May 9, 2009
