Tennessee Smokies
The Smokies beat the Mobile Bay Bears, 5-3.
Casey Coleman improved his record o 6-2 with a strong seven inning start. Coleman allowed a run on a solo home run. He allowed five hits total, walking only one and striking out four. He also went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Brian Schlitter struck out both batters he faced for his ninth save.
Center fielder James Adduci was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He stole two bases and scored once.
Right fielder Tyler Colvin was 3 for 4. First baseman Blake Lalli went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Second baseman Tony Thomas went 2 for 5 with a double and a run scored.
Daytona Cubs
The D-Cubs disproved the Fort Myers Miracle, 6-1.
All-star pitcher Ryan Searle got the win by allowing only one run on a solo home run in 5.1 innings. He surrendered four hits total. He walked three and struck out five.
Shortstop Starlin Castro got his batting average above .300 by going 3 for 5 tonight with a stolen base. Castro scored once and had two RBI.
Left fielder Jonathan Wyatt scored one run in a 2 for 4 effort.
Peoria Chiefs
The Chiefs were cut down by the Clinton Lumber Kings, 4-2.
Justin Bristow turned in a good start tonight, allowing only one run on four hits over five innings. Bristow walked one and struck out four.
Chris Siegfried took the loss in relief when he couldn't find the plate. Siegfried allowed one hit and walked four in two-thirds of an inning. That led to three runs.
Josh Vitters was 0 for 2 again today, so he now is hitless in 18 at bats in his last six games. At least he reached base twice, once by a walk and once by a hit by pitch.

This might cool the Vitters being promoted talk.
Which, I support. A full year at A won’t kill him. He needs to work on some things. No need to rush him up.
But, is there anyone out there that can hit, and has a position to play? Fox we know about, but no place to hit. If things keep going this way for the Cubs do we see one of the college developed players like Barney or Thomas come up? Starlin Castro is doing well, but I view him the same way I do Vitters, needs time at the lower levels.
I’ll keep my eyes on the catchers in the system. Soto mayb be playing his way back to AAA.
