Some of us are passionate Cubs fans — we get incredibly happy when something goes well and we get pissed off when things go poorly. You apparently don’t have any emotion. Which is fine. Very, very weird. But fine. Don’t go slamming people who get pissed when the Cubs F something up though. You just make yourself look like a jackass by doing so.
You know you have a problem when more of your posts on this site are bitching about posters than are actually about the Cubs. That’s you. Stop and think for one second how pathetic that is — you spend more time talking about people than about the Cubs. Yikes!
Randy Wells may need to come back down to Iowa to get a win.....
I left for a walk feeling like the game was in the bag and Marmol and Gregg decide to pee one down their legs…..Milton Bradley is fragile like spun glass and Kevin Gregg isn’t a closer….way to have those offseason moves blow up on your donut flecked face Hendry!
Bitching about the fans. goats, whitetrash, Bartman, etc. Why don’t you idiots just ignore me and watch the game? Why is the attention on some idiot online, instead of the damn game???
But 2009 Geo does not inspire confidence and the percentage play is to lay down a bunt. Geo apparently can’t do that. Lou tried to find someone who could.
Which was strike 3 and Geo could not handle it so in fact the runs are earned but HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF IT.
In the end Marmol and Gregg were both awful but Gregg was in fact not nearly as bad as Marmol who struggled to get anyone out.
Marmol came in with a guy on first and nobody and proceeded to walk two, hit one and give up a hit. He flat out sucked. True the
runner on first was unearned but he should never have scored and was responsible for only one run .
It was 2-0 when I went away to put together the baby’s changing table — reading instructions that had to have been written by Harry Caray on his 12th beer — and now it’s 5-5 in the 13th????
I joined this site a year ago while I was deployed in Iraq and of course we were doing better last year, but this is still the team I live and die with everyday. But here has the hope and believing gone. Has this just turned into a bitch session about which Cub player we hate the most today. I know that it is frustrating but if you are a real true Cubs fan you have to believe or why even bother showing up here!
while I was gone from home sometimes this site was all I had to look forward too. Except for the day I got a ball in the mail from Ballhawk. Probably one of the best care packages that I have ever received. I won’t give up hope, even though we have trolls all of over this site.
I am kinda lucky in that respect. I don’t get to watch a lot of games and work nights so I just see a lot of box scores and highlights. I have to admit that in my old(er) age i have calmed down with them a lot. I have seen two generations of my family die without seeing the Cubs win anything. I have no aspersions that it will be any different for me. I have had that mindset for years. I usually hold it to my chest but I have always been a pessimist.
It’s bad enough catching tonight on TV/Radio. Actually I was following via cell-phone internet until the 7th or so, seeing that no-hit no-run line by Wells. Then this. UGH.
Koyie Hill has looked good all year and some competition for Soto can only do good at this point. You don’t want your sophomore catcher thinking he has a job wrapped without a question
You’ve been outmanaged with consistency in 2009….time to go back to the booth. You’ve been terrible.
But there are other fingers to point…at a loafing, guess hitting albatross of a contract in LF, a woefully inadequate defensive SS playing out of position, a C whose career year was a year ago, a wild bullpen from top to bottom and a whole host of other guys who should be playing 3 days a week rather than 6 or 7. Otherwise, all is well….because some people still claim it’s early or something like that. Sorry to say but the window of opportunity was a year ago….unless you foolishly believe there is something about this mediocre team that will change things. I sure don’t see it.
I’m not sure how you do it man but perhaps you still wake up believing that one day, the sky will indeed be a legitimate shade of purple. The eternal optimism is seriously misplaced with this team but hey, keep at it if you must. Ignorance is always bliss after all.
Yep, you got me. I apologize for the losses because I want them to lose because it makes me feel better. I should have recognized that long ago I guess.
But no, cheerleading has never been a strong suit of mine…just never got the hang of the pom-pons I guess.
I’m quite capable of discerning the difference between a good team and a mediocre one and it’s clear what I’ve been watching is entirely mediocre. If you feel otherwise, perhaps you should speak with MLB to get the standings changed. Until then, I’ll let the Cubs’ play prove me correct or incorrect.
If you wish to keep using the "it’s early " routine, that’s your option. But nothing at all leads anyone to believe you’re doing anything but fooling yourself into some sort of false optimism.
That is all cute and funny and all but this team has been floundering for quite awhile now. You can keep disregarding the facts if you wish but quite simply, this team isn’t very good.
I’m not pissed off in the least. I’ve already come to the realization that this team is going nowhere. I’ve watched this train wreck from the beginning and clearly see the portrait that is being painted here. Flabbergasted at the nonsensical cheerleading of some of those on here…but certainly not angry about something that is really nothing more than a diversion from life for a few hours a day.
I mean, geez, the guy still doesn’t have a win this year. He must suck right? Seriously, how does Wells not smash something right now? He has been our best pitcher since he was called up and he still doesn’t have a win. This was a really disheartening loss tonight.
What’s sadder then trolling another team’s fansite just to provoke people? The poor guy is begging for attention-don’t give it to him and eventually he’ll lose interest and go away.
please, show me where we once blamed anyone (not on the Cubs this season) for the loss tonight. IF you cannot, I do believe that qualifies you as a liar, who should happily remove himself from here and return to his Dodger blog since you are such a big Dodger fan

I had a comment in this thread that had 2 replies apparently. I say apparently because it shows up in my history but not on this page. How exactly does that happen? I’m just curious what the replies were, but they’ve gone away to the ether I’m afraid.
He made some comment about CUBS meaning Completely Useless In September, which is hilariously dumb but is now completely gone, but his other posts remain. There must have been a doozy of a reply after mine.
Or his posts have been moderated. I noticed the more obscene posts were gone. Remember when “aramis” cut loose, some of his posts were deleted while others remained.
But it’s one thing to be on here and pick a fight with someone. It’s something completely different when you come on here and in your first post, you call the people here “losers” which is what circles did.
That is what hurts. You get blown out 7-2? A loss is a loss. You blow a 5-0 lead in the last two innings, only giving up 3 hits in giving up those 5 runs? Painful.
I fear this is simply a .500 team. They’re back to finding new ways to lose, after finding ways to win last year. Feels shitty.
doesn’t Lou look at the numbers? Chipper was 6 for 12 with 2 HR’s against Heilman. I don’t give a damn what the count is…put him on, set up the double play against the slowest guy on their team, and take your chances. This is not rocket science!
Gregg got his three outs. Had a bad feeling about Francoeur, because just about every team has at least one loss like that a season and the Cubs hadn’t had theirs yet.
In 2007, they had a lot of losses just like this one.
Poor Randy Wells.
that’s all I can say.

How does this happen? Wells pitched a good game!

P.S. You suck ass
heine41 - June 2, 2009
not looking at it
that is what you said
Cubbie-Tim - June 2, 2009
That's ageist!
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
He can't help insulting us.
I think he’s called me an idiot on several occasions, without realizing that he is actually describing himself.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
Oh, I know. I just think he's the most cleverest internets guy ever
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
and you swallow
your point?
Cubbie-Tim - June 2, 2009
To bad
Atlanta didn’t resign Daryle Ward… Then he could have hit another dinger off of Gregg.

drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
Blanco
with a good at bat here.
drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
did we really PH for Soto
with Bobby Scales?
did that really happen?
DartmouthCubsFan - June 2, 2009
Sign of the times i guess
heine41 - June 2, 2009
i'd lean towards sign of really poor decision
by the manager….
DartmouthCubsFan - June 2, 2009
It would help
if Geo had ever, EVER laid down a bunt
TheTruth11 - June 2, 2009
why
is a bunt absolutely necessary there?
by taking out Soto you’re using 2 players in one move and taking one of your more talented hitters out of the lineup for the rest of the game
you’re making a significant bet on being to convert in this one inning
DartmouthCubsFan - June 2, 2009
See your point.
But 2009 Geo does not inspire confidence and the percentage play is to lay down a bunt. Geo apparently can’t do that. Lou tried to find someone who could.
And they couldn’t.
TheTruth11 - June 2, 2009
i'm not sure
the percentage play is the bunt, that’s my point….
DartmouthCubsFan - June 2, 2009
Or was hitting his weight
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
that's a high bar
for Geo these days, i’m not sure last yr he hit this year’s weight
DartmouthCubsFan - June 2, 2009
I’d rather see Mrs. Piniella than Soto now. Sad

Koyie Hill to the plate.

Gather a bunch of losers on a website and "poof" you have a very angry crowd. So typical of the great cub franchise.
circles - June 2, 2009
Do you have a blog? I'd love to read it
Do you give financial advice, too?
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
why do you keep responding?
Especially about finance? Are you in money trouble? You seriously need financial advice? I’m good, I don’t need financial advice.
circles - June 2, 2009
You only need some advice on manners. Go buy some.
santoswoodenlegs - June 2, 2009
Because you're obviously the smartest person on the face of the earth
Maybe in history. I need your insight.
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009

I just said the Cubs organization has been really bad for over 100 years
circles - June 2, 2009
Yeah, but you'd have to be smart to figure that out
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
Well normally,
When you begin commenting on a blog by calling people “losers” and “idiots,” among others, you tend to get people angry.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009

leothelip - June 2, 2009
Actually, in a way, yes.
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
(shrug)
leothelip - June 2, 2009
Well it was a wild pitch
Which was strike 3 and Geo could not handle it so in fact the runs are earned but HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF IT.
In the end Marmol and Gregg were both awful but Gregg was in fact not nearly as bad as Marmol who struggled to get anyone out.
Doggie Stalker - June 2, 2009
Pretty enticing pitch
if Anderson went for it.
I loved Geo last year and thought that he was the foundation of the team. This year I’d prefer absolutely anybody else.

I have to say
I joined this site a year ago while I was deployed in Iraq and of course we were doing better last year, but this is still the team I live and die with everyday. But here has the hope and believing gone. Has this just turned into a bitch session about which Cub player we hate the most today. I know that it is frustrating but if you are a real true Cubs fan you have to believe or why even bother showing up here!

deployedcubfan - June 2, 2009
Well said.
sue369 - June 2, 2009
It's easy when things go well
I am kinda lucky in that respect.

Oh great did you HAVE to remind of THOSE GAMES ?
I was at all of them.
Doggie Stalker - June 2, 2009

It’s bad enough catching tonight on TV/Radio. Actually I was following via cell-phone internet until the 7th or so, seeing that no-hit no-run line by Wells. Then this. UGH.

Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
So what did you do with your night?
Trolled on a Cubs blog since I have no other human beings in my life to interact with.
Fukudometer - June 2, 2009
Time to go Lou

Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
The problem with the logic
Is that all those problems were created by Jim Hendry.
cubfred - June 2, 2009
Hendry gave Lou what he wanted
They share the blame for the roster but I give Lou extra points for misusing what he has.
Doggie Stalker - June 2, 2009
Yes
Hendry bought the ingredients, but Lou is the cook. Plenty of blame for both. An, did I hear that Bradley is hurt AGAIN??!!!
cubfred - June 2, 2009
looks that way...he's day to day
sue369 - June 2, 2009
do you feel better
now that you’ve thrown up?
Also, back to the booth? what?
drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
Laughable
I’m not sure how you do it man but perhaps you still wake up believing that one day, the sky will indeed be a legitimate shade of purple. The eternal optimism is seriously misplaced with this team but hey, keep at it if you must. Ignorance is always bliss after all.
krummy12 - June 2, 2009
It's not ignorance
it’s rooting for your team good or bad.
Yes, it sucks that they gave this game away. They’ll get it back.
drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
They've won a few like it, too
Stuff happens when you party naked.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
By definition
Blindly “rooting” for your team without recognizing the reality of where it is likely headed is the very definition of ignorance I’m afraid.
krummy12 - June 2, 2009
You are just afraid to root because you can't handle the losses
So its just easier for you to put it down.
its a defense mechanism, and its Krummy
heine41 - June 2, 2009
Hilarious
But nothing at all leads anyone to believe you’re doing anything but fooling yourself into some sort of false optimism.
krummy12 - June 2, 2009
no
I’m rooting for my team in spite of the problems.
I recognize the team is struggling. I root for them anyway.

That is all cute and funny and all but this team has been floundering for quite awhile now. You can keep disregarding the facts if you wish but quite simply, this team isn’t very good.
krummy12 - June 2, 2009
yeah, but what does it do to bitch and moan about it?
It only pisses you off even more. Trust me I was like this in 05-06 and it was not pretty or happy
Chanman25 - June 2, 2009
Quite frankly
I’m not pissed off in the least. I’ve already come to the realization that this team is going nowhere. I’ve watched this train wreck from the beginning and clearly see the portrait that is being painted here. Flabbergasted at the nonsensical cheerleading of some of those on here…but certainly not angry about something that is really nothing more than a diversion from life for a few hours a day.

drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
Why not?
I mean, geez, the guy still doesn’t have a win this year. He must suck right? Seriously, how does Wells not smash something right now? He has been our best pitcher since he was called up and he still doesn’t have a win. This was a really disheartening loss tonight.
qccub - June 2, 2009
Still, tough to lose like that
But then again, Tampa and Toronto lost just like it last week. So it isn’t a Cubs-specific condition, for all you who think it might be.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
No doubt it stunk but until ARam is back I am just happy if we tread water......

You are a crusader for justice
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
.......and the American way
Clutche - June 2, 2009
Does that include mocking people who lose their jobs?
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
..................or mocking someone who won't deal with a Troll
Clutche - June 2, 2009
How is Tim a troll?
And if you thought that, why place the order in the first place?
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
Yep, lots of blame to go around
I know this game sucked, but I don’t think the Cubs are that bad. They won’t win 97, but I’m not convinced they won’t fix the bullpen in time.
Of course, it could be the beer. Or circles amusing the hell out of me.
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
I think they are a .500 team. No better and no less
Unfortunately it’s not going to be enough
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
i agree
Clutche - June 2, 2009
Well, it's possible
I’m not giving up just yet
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
I'll say this for circles
He’s taking the heat off me tonight.
Until next time …
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
true dat...Circles is awesome!
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
Circles might be the most fun I've ever had here after a horrible loss
He’s actually put me in a good mood!
bluekoolaide - June 2, 2009
agreed. I hope Circles visits us after every loss..we can pay him a nickel for his acts
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
No doubt. Just think -- that kid went to bed thinking he was clever and "got" us
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
yep, this thread has been a great experience for "Kids" like circles..
“Hey Dad, wanna go to BCB?”
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
I might even go as high as a dime
bluekoolaide - June 2, 2009
Forgive me
If I’m not as confident the Cubs will solve Derek Lowe anytime soon…especially as soon as tomorrow night.
krummy12 - June 2, 2009
they solved billingsley?
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
This thread is getting
very slow.
sue369 - June 2, 2009
yeah..where is circles?
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
I think his mom
put his jammies on him and tucked him in.
sue369 - June 2, 2009
I thought the library is closed and no more internet access for him..
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
No, the new "Electric Company" is on
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
it's amazing
that he gets us having so much fun after a terrible loss like that that we keep posting. :D
But now, I’m out for the night.
drewishdrewid - June 2, 2009
Man, those first 7 innings were GREAT.
Suggestion:
We send Hoffpauir to the bullpen. NOT to pitch, but to bat against Marmol as the first batter. Throw Micah 4 balls, THEN come in and pitch!
dtpollitt - June 2, 2009
novel idea..might work too
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
Most painful loss of the season, no question.
I feel sad for Wells.
dtpollitt - June 2, 2009
3rd time the bullpen has given his first win away!
Terrible
calicubfan - June 2, 2009
Perfect example of why wins are a bad measure of performance.
Goodie1969 - June 2, 2009
For a starting pitcher, that is.
Goodie1969 - June 2, 2009
By far....
….The Cubs’ worst loss this season! UGLY!
Kevin Gregg is a joke. Even if this team does turn the offense around and everything comes together, is Gregg the answer in the 9th?
calicubfan - June 2, 2009
the answer is no
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
Slightly OT
I had a comment in this thread that had 2 replies apparently. I say apparently because it shows up in my history but not on this page. How exactly does that happen? I’m just curious what the replies were, but they’ve gone away to the ether I’m afraid.
Goodie1969 - June 2, 2009
Someone was booted.
dtpollitt - June 2, 2009
Al is up this late?
He sensed a disturbance in the force
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
Can even Al, the eternal optomist....
….sleep after that loss?
calicubfan - June 2, 2009
He could be at work
I am going out to get a midnight snack since I could not eat during the fame. Literal feast and famine or famine and feast in this case.
Doggie Stalker - June 2, 2009
So a deleted comment removes the parent comments as well?
I did not know that.
Goodie1969 - June 2, 2009
A deleted comment apparently removes all replies.
Several of mine from tonight are missing.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
oh god...I hope it's not circles
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
Doesn't appear to be, when I open this thread in a new tab
Shanghai Badger - June 2, 2009
I know...weird.
He made some comment about CUBS meaning Completely Useless In September, which is hilariously dumb but is now completely gone, but his other posts remain. There must have been a doozy of a reply after mine.
Goodie1969 - June 2, 2009
Either that,
Or his posts have been moderated. I noticed the more obscene posts were gone. Remember when “aramis” cut loose, some of his posts were deleted while others remained.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
it should be heine41 for the foul language
Clutche - June 2, 2009
Either heine41 or circles
Several of my posts have been deleted too.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
circles was annoying..........
but heine41 was way over the top
Clutche - June 2, 2009
I understand that
But it’s one thing to be on here and pick a fight with someone. It’s something completely different when you come on here and in your first post, you call the people here “losers” which is what circles did.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
agree...........not cool
but heine41 was vulgar
Clutche - June 2, 2009
I guess I didn't see what heine41 was up to today.
I was in the middle of the fracas with circles. He came on here, calling us names right away. I got called an “idiot” by him several times.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
heine was
just reacting to being baited.
sue369 - June 2, 2009
I did see his shut the ... up.
Overboard.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
meh, it happens
I’ve seen worse
sue369 - June 2, 2009
That's why I said it.
I wasn’t here for aramis’ vocabulary display.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
Also,
Remember, I was running circles around circles.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
maybe he is Lou in real life
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
To me a loss like tonight is much worse than the eight game losing streak
I was at my nephew’s graduation-came out and find out that the Cubs are up 5-1 in the eighth-figured it was in the bag…
Somehow, when Francouer came up I just had a terrible feeling…
bluekoolaide - June 2, 2009
That game was a punch to the stomach
Poor Randy Wells
nji232 - June 2, 2009
Losing the ones you should win
That is what hurts. You get blown out 7-2? A loss is a loss. You blow a 5-0 lead in the last two innings, only giving up 3 hits in giving up those 5 runs? Painful.
I fear this is simply a .500 team. They’re back to finding new ways to lose, after finding ways to win last year. Feels shitty.
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
Also
doesn’t Lou look at the numbers? Chipper was 6 for 12 with 2 HR’s against Heilman. I don’t give a damn what the count is…put him on, set up the double play against the slowest guy on their team, and take your chances. This is not rocket science!
There, I’m done…
Canadian Cubs Fan - June 2, 2009
Why does Heilman always get enough rope to hang himself?
And why can’t Theriot and Lee make a damn routine play in the 8th?? This team sucks.
Itchy - June 2, 2009
TheRiot is not a SS period..
cubsnlinux - June 2, 2009
Amen brother!
and Fonty is a 3rd baseman either! And Soto is a total train wreck!
Itchy - June 2, 2009
Weren't there two outs
when Chipper had the winning hit?
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
No, 1 out.
Itchy - June 2, 2009
Check
thanks.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
Did Soto get charged with a passed ball or was it a wild pitch in the 9th?
That really killed us.
Itchy - June 2, 2009
Wild pitch
Gregg got his three outs. Had a bad feeling about Francoeur, because just about every team has at least one loss like that a season and the Cubs hadn’t had theirs yet.
In 2007, they had a lot of losses just like this one.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
Yep, this whole year seems just like '07
Up and down all year. Gregg just can’t keep the damn ball down enough!
Itchy - June 2, 2009
But '07 ended up OK
Keep the faith.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
I will but why no Fox as PH tonight when one long ball puts us up?
Itchy - June 2, 2009
From your lips
to Lou’s ears.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
Does Lou seem lost lately to you?
He does to me.
Itchy - June 2, 2009
Not really
Maybe more calm. I’m not sure jumping down all the time gets results, particularly if you’ve done it before.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 3, 2009
No Lou like Dusty before him
thinks he knows better than those damn stats.
I am afraid it is the ugliest loss of the year and with Lowe and Jurjjens do up next I don’t exactly feel optimistic even if we have Lilly
and Z.
Doggie Stalker - June 2, 2009
+1
This is th kind of game that can really send a team into a funk.
I hope I’m wrong but I just don’t see this team hanging in in what’s become a very tough division
bluekoolaide - June 2, 2009
I know the "it's too early" thing is overdone sometimes
but it really is too early. They’re four games out of first with 112 to go.
Everything looks bad after a loss like this one.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 2, 2009
They were just in a damn funk a week ago!!
If they go into another, this season is finished.
Itchy - June 2, 2009
Soto needs some time in AAA
Koyie Hill can hold down the fort while we see if Soto can gain some confidence back against weak pitching.
nji232 - June 2, 2009
As bad as we are,,,,,
we’ll be in it because the Cards and Brewers aren’t that talented either
Clutche - June 2, 2009
LAST!
Chanman25 - June 2, 2009
Not so fast mister
Doggie Stalker - June 2, 2009
that's right!
