however, there have been a ton of “dang baseball is a game of inches” situs this season IMHO, and we’ve been a bloop hit away or a ball touching chalk away from keeping the line moving…
I am just required by law to use knowledge from my journalism degree once a month or else the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee sends an electric shock through my phone.
It’s the new me, the one Heine has always wanted. Nothing but sunshine pumping from this guy. You’ll get ’em next time Soriano. WanderingWaverer, that sounded like a negative post, try and turn that frown upside down.
walk into the clubhouse, look at the players and say “You disgust me, get out of my sight” and walk out. There was a day when I thought they might take it to heart, I am not sure right now though.
…on today’s game. Years ago, this may have worked if you picked the right spot, but players today feel a sense of entitlement because of their contracts.
Max’s little league team had a practice. For about forty minutes, the coach hit balls, and the kids playing their positions could not make a single out.
I dont give a crap if he is the only lefty in the pen, he is also your best/only true good long relief pitcher. I am starting to lose all faith in Lou’s decisions.
It was a bad call, but he was at the plate with the chance to tie it and struck out. Last out in a close game he held the bat on strike three. I agree it was a bad call, but umpires make bad calls all the time, and Dome can’t watch the final strikek go by.
Some days I like to just think of the good ol days
Back in ‘98 when I worshipped Sosa and loved just making the playoffs. I’d like to go back and just kick my ass. Now we’re supposed to win and every game is a knife to the heart!
I'm not arguing about his placement in the order...
I wish he wasn’t at lead-off.
But it seems inarguable to me that it’s a positive sign that he got two hits today. It may not be a trend. He may revert back to going 0 for the century again. But what’s wrong with at least being glad that today he performed well?
to “+1” such a garbage comment. of course it doesnt “guarantee” anything, nobody is looking for any guarantees. we like aram, hes a good player, we will be glad to have him back
But if you followed the kind of commentary that Cubsnlinux puts up around here, you’ll notice that’s par for the course. I have yet to see him say a single thing positive about the team. (Check his message history, for example).
The biggest problem I see is we are stuck with 3 very mediocre players in the OF for years to come. Any improvements will have to come from new infielders. (not likely)

we've hit into a TON of bad luck this season as well...

:)
CubsWin!Oregon - June 25, 2009
Glad he came through.
I didn’t want him to fail two games in a row.
N Oakley - June 25, 2009
Fail again?
Only you fail. It was a bad call on a third strike should have been called a ball, he walks.
Don’t dis Dome
Greggle - June 25, 2009
Yes, fail.
It was a bad call, but he was at the plate with the chance to tie it and struck out. Last out in a close game he held the bat on strike three. I agree it was a bad call, but umpires make bad calls all the time, and Dome can’t watch the final strikek go by.
N Oakley - June 25, 2009
Dome doubles to LF!
1 on, 2 out – Soto PH
Clutch16 - June 25, 2009

CubsWin!Oregon - June 25, 2009
As long as we don't take the Oakland path IN the playoffs

lexmarklover - June 25, 2009
we could have gained a lot of ground by taking 2 of 3
PieFan08 - June 25, 2009
yup
Archie - June 25, 2009
No one is running away...
…with this division anytime soon, trust me.
I’m not saying the Cubs will end up winning it, but at least 3 teams will be in the hunt until Sept.
MPH73 - June 25, 2009
I think we will still win division
I really do.
PieFan08 - June 25, 2009
is luis castillo playing? never know
jesus christos - June 25, 2009
Some days I like to just think of the good ol days
Back in ‘98 when I worshipped Sosa and loved just making the playoffs. I’d like to go back and just kick my ass. Now we’re supposed to win and every game is a knife to the heart!
EamuCanoli - June 25, 2009
Haha
I agree, we have been spoiled.
PieFan08 - June 25, 2009
Cards lose
Doggie Stalker - June 25, 2009
Ahh,
good news.
N Oakley - June 25, 2009
On the bright side...
Fox looked good, and Sori had a good game at the plate.
CubsWin!Oregon - June 25, 2009
Soriano sucks...please
You see that curve he swung at…
EamuCanoli - June 25, 2009
Tell you what...
You bitch about one pitch, and I’ll take some solace in the two solid hits he got.
CubsWin!Oregon - June 25, 2009
Well take solace in his .231 avg
We thought he was coming around with those walkoffs…face facts he should be batting 5 or 6 in a position for RBIs.
EamuCanoli - June 25, 2009
I'm not arguing about his placement in the order...
I wish he wasn’t at lead-off.
But it seems inarguable to me that it’s a positive sign that he got two hits today. It may not be a trend. He may revert back to going 0 for the century again. But what’s wrong with at least being glad that today he performed well?
CubsWin!Oregon - June 25, 2009
magglios HR is the play of the game
thats pathetic
jesus christos - June 25, 2009
Frankie trying to blow it for the Mets
oh boy
EamuCanoli - June 25, 2009
It's like a f'd up tug-o-war.
The offense finally starts putting runs on the board and the lights out starter has a rough outing.
Time to use AJ as a slumpbuster.
N Oakley - June 25, 2009
on the bright side a rams return is atleast 2weeks away
jesus christos - June 25, 2009
what does that even guarantee you
nothing
lexmarklover - June 25, 2009
+1
I am glad to see that ARamis is coming back soon but what the heck will that guarantee?
cubsnlinux - June 25, 2009
this has to be a sock puppet
to “+1” such a garbage comment. of course it doesnt “guarantee” anything, nobody is looking for any guarantees. we like aram, hes a good player, we will be glad to have him back
joeschmitt - June 25, 2009
umm people are looking for the offense to pick up when he comes back
and read further clown
lexmarklover - June 25, 2009
Exactly...
But if you followed the kind of commentary that Cubsnlinux puts up around here, you’ll notice that’s par for the course. I have yet to see him say a single thing positive about the team. (Check his message history, for example).
CubsWin!Oregon - June 25, 2009
but yes im looking forward to that day.
lexmarklover - June 25, 2009
good thing we didnt come back
my signature would be too long after adding a beltway quote or 2
joeschmitt - June 25, 2009
If the Cubs can't beat up on Galaraga
we may be in trouble.
Mapmaker - June 25, 2009
"may be"? ..we are neck deep in trouble..
cubsnlinux - June 25, 2009
I will agree with you goofballs who are all bright side all of the time...
we’re lucky we’re not 8 or 9 games out…we would be 5+ if Kerry Wood didn’t give back 2 he owed us for countless DL trips over his career
EamuCanoli - June 25, 2009
Goofballs?
Way to make friends Canoli.

Doggie Stalker - June 25, 2009
problem
The biggest problem I see is we are stuck with 3 very mediocre players in the OF for years to come. Any improvements will have to come from new infielders. (not likely)
KedzieKid - June 25, 2009
yep, and while I don't really blame him for Soriano
Signing Dome to that huge contract basically sight unseen, and then Bradley…….
Bad decisions
WanderingWanderer - June 25, 2009
most signings of japanese players tend to go down the toilet, with the rare exception of ichiro
jesus christos - June 25, 2009
so, then it looks like the risk is very very high..
Then why in the heck Hendry flushed so much money in the toilet against such high odds?
cubsnlinux - June 25, 2009
Hendry has a blidspot at second, and in rightfield
been trying to fill those positions for years, and always makes the wrong call
WanderingWanderer - June 25, 2009
we need some changes.... soon
lexmarklover - June 25, 2009
I'm sure Lou is just about ready to possibly start thinking about maybe making some changes
at a time that is yet to be determined
