Ambivalence reigns supreme
That's a cool pic of Blanco...

yeah, that’s all I go

got
Is it just me or is it too much irony

that the photog is named “Nam Y Huh”

Thanks! Last threat too depressing!
Just glad it worked

Had to try out copy-n-paste on the iPhone. I feel all ’90s now

Milton's luck will change now ... after I made myself his biggest fan
touchdown in the top of the 9th thread!
though with the 8th still going, that may not be enough.

…finish this up, Hart!

Ball four

to Thome.

I do believe this is the...

Cubs come back and win. Thread.

Or let’s hope so anyway.

I'll have one of what you're drinking...
insanity?

:)

make it a double!!!
is a synonym for cubs fan.

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result

Nix

pinch runs for Thome.

roller to third

force out at second. Three outs. On to the ninth!

6 to tie!
Since we're on the road...

I guess we go for the win? So I’ll take 7 :-p

i hope randy wells is our all-star representative
Theodore has a shot.
it's going to be lilly if it's not wells ... which i highly doubt
I'd take great joy

in the selection of Randy Wells.

Theodore Roosevelt Lilly for me
I think it's gonna be Ted
I hope whoever is chosen won't have to play...

So all of our guys will be well rested to have a second half run.

I second that notion
Over/under

on the number of fairweather fan posts today… So far I see two up aleady…. I say 8

By fairweather...

Do you mean someone disowning the team right now?

Yeah

not people who are pissed off, but ones who say they give up… It’s no fun anymore… Have they really been a fan of this team for long?

single, single, blast. single, single, walk, blast.

give the sox a little going away present.

That word up there, the one that starts with a 'w'

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before…

Fox walked.

he the only one today?

Farney HBP
Lee and Bradley both had free passes, as well
bradley in the 1st?

i think?

Bradley, Lee and Freel have walked, too.
Fox to the plate.

Some defensive changes to the Sox that no one cares about. Thornton up in the pen.

Fox bounces out to short. One out. Soto up.

Fox 0-3 with a walk

Think they figured him out?

along with his 0-5 yesterday?

ya think?

nah i just think he's a little eager to show that his friday performance wasn't a fluke
They didn't throw him many fastballs today, if any.
Well, he's 0 for his last 8 over two days.

I won’t say he’s been figured out, but he’s not going to hit .374 the rest of the year, obviously. If he can stay on offspeed pitches, he’ll be fine.

The adjustments go back and forth

Some pitchers appear to have adjusted to Fox. Now he needs to do the same. I think he’ll be OK, if he does as trey says.

he's spent 6+ yrs in the minors for a reason
We play tomorrow or Tuesday?

Pittsburgh, right?

Yep and they are not that far behind us.

Better starting pitching than you’d think but not very good at much else.

PS a Rookie making his MLB debut beat the Brewers so we are not the only ones it happens to.

Soto

high fly ball. Pods makes the catch up against the wall. Two outs.

What's most depressing

Is thinking about the 15 game lead we should have if we played up to our potential.

An "exciting" pop out to left.

I’m has my life come to?

Freel to the plate

1-2.

looks like standing are going to be the same, except Reds move into third, cubs will be 3.5 GB once again
I'm gonna go on record...

as saying I kind of like Ryan Freel.

(Regardless of what happens in this at-bat)

I do too

I don’t think he got anything resembling a chance before he hit the DL, and now he’s showing why he’s in the bigs.

agreed
Always liked Freel

when he was with the Reds. He could be a useful tool here.

Me too. I like the guy, and always liked him. I like Farney too.
Swing and a miss.

Welcome to fourth place. game over.

Good bye all...

I’m gonna go drink some thing strong.

Get me one too

While you’re up…

Me too! Tomorrow will be better, wont it??
Can't be any worse, right?
then a shutout by Denks?

probably not.

The season starts this week.

3 in Pittsburgh, 4 versus Milwaukee. Need a strong showing.

fun while it lasted

right, guys?

atleast aaron miles hit that grand slam

I'm feeling a sweep in Pittsburgh

Cubs sweeping the Pirates, of course

I know it's tough

but nobody is running away from anybody in this division. The stretch between now and the ASB is heavy with intra-division games. And the Cubs play most of them at home.

Starting tomorrow, it would be a good time for the Cubs to get on a run.

Keep the faith.

Bruce, how can you be

so optimistic?!

Man, it is damn impressive.

I just don’t see it with the performance on the field with RISP, and the bullpen in its current state.

Even in 2007 & 2008, the RISP performance was no where near worst in the majors as it is now.

It's called being a Cubs fan....Ernie wanted to play a double-header even when we had players

like Andre Rogers and Billy Cowan…..that’s what we are….eternal optimists….

I don't think there is

a “stranglehold” on being a Cub fan = eternal optimist no more than the Republican party is the “God” party.

People just roll in different ways. Its cool if you are optimistic in the face of overwhelming odds.

After being at the “alter” many times in 40 years, I personally look at it differently until proven differently.

It's not just being optimistic, E,

it’s being realistic.

If the Cubs were 9 games back right now, I might not be so sunny. But I haven’t seen anybody in this division that’s better than the Cubs. Problem is, I haven’t seen anybody any worse, either. :)

This team still has more talent than the others. The pitching has lived up to form. Now, the bats have to, too. There’s plenty of time for that to emerge.

Hang in there, dude.

Yeah, I know what you mean....it's not like I'm planning on saving money for playoff tickets

But as a baseball fan, I have a favorite team, and I like watching that team play.

Although I’m disappointed at the GM, the manager, and some of the players (ha, ha), I know that baseball is still full of surprises, and we aren’t that far behind, so no use in getting out the bottles of gin and vodka yet, or worse the razor blades :-)

I only drank a Fosters today, and only because I was thirsty :-)

Bruce is Right, I admit,,,,,I tend to be a glass half empty guy about cubs (& other teams I follow))sports,

And noted we are closer to last place than first; (I know, thats lame!)

I need that reminder that we cold turn this around. So thanks.I’ll have one of my home brews and tomorrow will be another opportunity to win!

Keep reminding me, Bruce

It ain’t ovah yet :)

At this point, you are right – no one really is performing like the Dodgers in the NL Central. So – we cannot stick a “fork” in them yet, by any means.

However, It is so goddamned frustrating watching them play like this now (pukes a bit, in mouth)!

I will be there Friday, and Saturday, and my record is pretty abysmal this yer.

Last year’s was 17-3 (!)

LOL

one of those “Big-Ass” cans? Aren’t they a liter of beer?
